Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, Marco Rubio, continues to play a key role in both diplomacy and strategy for the goals and policies of President Trump.
Rubio was present for every moment of both the summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Rubio outlines in this interview the goals and objectives of the next steps. As the EU assembles the outlines for security guarantees to protect Ukraine moving forward, President Trump is organizing a bilateral meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy.
Hopefully, the Trump administration can set the table for Zelenskyy and Putin to come to terms and stop the war. If they can agree to terms, President Trump will then coordinate a trilateral meeting between Putin, Zelenskyy and Trump to sign a peace deal – complete with the security guarantee package provided by the Europeans. WATCH:

Rubio has been the best surprise of Trump 2.0.
Absolutely! He’s been terrific.
Foreign policy seems to be Rubio’s strong suit. I would have never figured he would do this well and be a forceful defender of Trump’s foreign policy aims as he’s been. I would still be wary of him if he decides to run for president again in the future.
I know five or six Democrats who would vote for him, because they see him as a moderate (not to mention moderator), and so are they.
Let everyone think about “next President” three years from now. Right now you have a job to do. You will be noticed for how well you do it. “Eyes on the ball.”
Keep in mind that President Trump has assigned regional envoys to ensure his agenda is implemented on foreign policy. Steve Witkof has been doing the heavy lifting on this negotiation and there is no gap in words and intent between Trump and Steve. There is also Kellog acting as baby sitter for Zelenskyy, so Rubio is not the only one making this peace negotiations work. However, I agree Rubio has definitely aligned his words with the Trump doctrine, so credit is somewhat warranted.
Am I the only one who thought Maro was shorter than he really is? Isn’t wasn’t until this year, when I saw Trump and Rubio standing next to/near each other, that I realized he isn’t short!
It seems the Li’l Marco nickname referred to maturity, not physical height.
He’s at least Medium Marco now!
Power of words….
dO you mean VSGPDJT orig. (6’3″ ) OR DJT 5’10” ?????????
You can’t resist denigrating Trump can you. Of course you were ‘just trying to be funny’…the usual excuse of the abuser. I’ve had a gutful of the snide putdowns of Trump by so called ‘supporters’ that I see everyday in the comments here.
I would respectfully submit he is one of the best surprises.
What a cabinet (for the most part)
I must say, he really has. I continue to be impressed with Sec. Rubio. One year ago, I would never have said those words. Powerful forces are at work all around us.
It seems that with Marco as NSA there are fewer leaks that with Waltz.
We have not heard the name Waltz in MONTHS!
Born for the job, is how I believe PDJT coined it.
“Little Marco” (as PDJT called him) is turning out to be quite the diplomat. I am more impressed every time I hear him.
Yeah I feel a little bad shouting, “Hey, Lil’ Marco!” when he attended President Trump’s last rally in Reading, PA last fall.
But hey maybe he got tired of all that MAGA ribbing and decided to put on his big boy pants.
I think he’s done one helluva good job so far.
It’s empowering to embrace the slight and make it yours, my fellow Deplorables.
The ‘Coalition Of The Willing’ is only willing to spend our $$$ money on the Ukraine debacle! President Trump finally called their bluff! 🫡
Maybe so but how is this not our money being spent by those of the “coalition of the willing” if we too contribute 5% of our GDP and they less so? Note that at best we foot 50% of the total because the two GDPs are roughly equal.
My understanding of the “contribution” is that the money is spent on their own military. I don’t think the money goes into a NATO pot but I could be wrong.
NATO is what it is and the US has signed an agreement that is binding – no way out as I understand it.
We work with what we have.
At least we will not be pulled into another war by the stupid decisions of the EU and UK.
NATO is required to buy US weapons so that is money coming in.
I am concerned about the “security agreement” referred to. Surely, our President would not commit even one of our soldiers to be put on the battlefield.
Security Guarantee is even scarier.
Security guarantee = Art 5 by stealth.
Doubt the Russians will take the bait.
The US signing on to NATO is not a forever thing.
The US CAN…and it is a discussable point as to whether it ought to be a should…withdraw from NATO.
We don’t need a European referendum on it; it just takes a prior commitment, announcement of intent, and the formal protocol of follow-through on the vote.
If the US announces its intent, gives formal notice, and then votes to confirm the leaving of NATO, there is absolutely nothing save rhetoric the Europeans can do about it.
Article 5 is the sticking point for most Americans. While the Soviet Union (and its associated Warsaw Pact) were a real threat, Article 5 made sense to Americans.
Now, with the Soviet Union a distant memory and the Warsaw Pact dissolved, Article 5 appears to serve only as a hook for Europeans to involve America in another needless and preventable war on the Old Continent.
Unfortunately… CONgress appropriates the 💰💰 & they’re working right now on another $54B package for this grifter.
Fifty-four flipping billion dollars.
After all that’s already gone down that toilet.
How do these people get anyone to vote for them?
Especially how do they get young people, who will bear the brunt, to vote for them?
Most young people know nothing about how “politics” works and what is at stake.
I read that a couple of times today. Do you have a source?
I find it at odds with the themes of what PDJT has said.
Steve Bannon repeated it.
But he clarified that it’s only the remaining Turtle RINOs trying for it. He said MAGA stopped the Turtle last time and we can do it again.
PDJT can Veto.
There’s our real enemy—CONgress…..and especially the RINO squad.
As Secretary of State, this is his venue …. remember he also wears the NSA Hat and has already stated in an interview that he “has been in contact with the Security Advisors of the Governments involved”.
It appears there is also an effort under way to short circuit US DEEP STATE counter moves as well as indicates there may actually be a slowly (and quietly) growing amount of control growing within US INTEL Professional Ranks, by President Trump’s Team.
Notice how President Trump has succeeded in slowly prying the US away from the lead role in the Ukraine.
Also, interesting that President Trump was able to remove a Cease Fire Agreement from the discussion …. and placed responsibility for a Cease Fire discussion with an advancing and winning Russian Government …. squarely on the shoulders of the EU-Ukraine and Russia. This pressures the loosing side to either work a cease fire or work a peace deal before they loose the war .. either way the fighting stops.
This is actually a better approach by the US than playing out the Cease Fire then negotiate process … it eats up critical time, the fighting never seems to completely stop and most often leads to an incomplete peace treaty.
At this point, one side seems to have a decisive advantage in the field and there is motivation to end the fighting.
The US through NATO has kept Europe from having to provide for their own defense since its inception, thus allowing them to fund their obscene welfare social structures…which in turn have allowed them to fuel their suicidal capitulation to Islam.
President Trump has forced EU so called leadsrs from their cozy sidelines into the middle of the road where they will have to make a Hobson’s choice. He has set the table for them with unpalatable consequences no matter which way they jump…and they know it.
What keeps me awake nights is the thought that after the EU countries rearm, they will be taken over by the Islamists who will inherit all those new weapons and ammunition.
And with Western powers neutered no one to stop them from using them?
Where is the heir to Charles Martel when he is so needed…
And Jan Sobieski.
“losing side”…lol
I believe the punk will have to surrender most of the pink, if not all of it.
If the reports were true last week … cracks are starting to appear in the Ukrainian Defenses … cracks to the point that the Russian advances (i.e. steps backward by the Ukrainians) are growing larger and larger with larger gaps between “occupied ground” appearing after each assault … as each Russian crumbling assault is made on the Ukrainian Forces.
There is only so much that can be done to cover gaps by observed fire … before the whole front caves. Allegedly Ukrainian Commanders are more than worried that allot of the front is only covered by drones and observed fire … with zero boots on the ground in the gaps. Especially with the Ukraine running out of drones, artillery ammunition and artillery systems.
The %Occupied in those non-pink regions is about to grow larger and at a faster rate of growth.
There was a major breakthru of Russian troops into and behind the Ukrainian lines north of Pokrovsk. This area is contested now. Apparently it was not a whole lot of Russian troops, like on the order of a few dozen. The area was poorly defended by the Ukraine – in area between where major fighting is happening. It does not appear Russia was able to move in and secure this area.
The Ukrainian army has no depth of operation, no backups, no reserves. They had to move units from other areas of active fighting to try and close this breakthru. Some of the commentary is to expect more of this to happen.
Pink plus. IMO
The punk will have to surrender to Putin whatever Putin wants and be grateful for whatever is left of his nation.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump pictured speaking on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier today in the Oval Office, during his meeting with European officials, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has refused to commit to a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, following yesterday’s meeting at the White House between Zelensky and U.S. President Donald J. Trump. So far, the Kremlin has only said it is prepared to “raise the level” of the delegation it sends to negotiate with Ukraine, but refused to say if Putin is prepared to meet Zelensky.
I suspect that Putin will go if the deal is finalized and agreeable to all parties.
“Any contacts involving top leaders must be prepared with the utmost care,” Sergei Lavrov said in the state media interview on Tuesday.
Putin almost has to come along or lose any good will, for lack of a better term. But as is typical in these negotiations, he can’t look like he’s rolling over… For the home crowd!
In his phone call into Fox and Friends this morning, President Trump was asked if he was in the Oval Office when he spoke with Putin, and he said no, that he went into a side room to make the call.

Enemies with benefits
Sorry Sundance but I’m not feeling the love right now or the trust in what is going on. Still, its nice that you do.
Your continued negativity is so noted.
There is a difference in being negative and being honest. I feel what I feel and that’s we are being used. I don’t trust what the people over there are doing. Its slowing things down, its hurting more people, its making something that has been going on, keep going on. I don’t feel anything but disappointment. Let’s the administration do what it wants but I don’t have to like it not because I feel negative, but betrayed. In fact, its better to be honest then put on a happy face when you just don’t have it. That is lying to people and too yourself. I’m not you and by gosh, I don’t have to pretend to be like you.
Why not be happy that progress is being made to stop the killings of people?
because a promise was made to us that we would be getting out of the war and Ukraine. If a security insurance or whatever is part of the deal, you can rest assure that those over there will not only keep us there now but bring us further in later. Keep in mind, Trump is not going to be president forever and in the future a democrat or for that matter a fake republican will be in power and our people will be the ones dying. Later might be just too late especially if the administration don’t hear our cries of displeasure. I have been happy, supportive but I can’t do so now. Now when I’m not.
Did you think that Donald Trump would wave a magic wand and the war would end magically?
This is a war, he’s got them talking and helping them to sort this all out, what more can he do but that?
He’s trying to solve issues, coming up with ideas, this all didn’t happen in 6 months and it’s not going to end in six months.
Donald Trump has begun the process towards ending it and he making sure all parties remain in that process.
Again, what more can he do than all that?
I love it so much – the entire set-up!
I wonder if any of those people went on their phones later after taking a photo of that gentleman at the end near the map – Benjamin Franklin –
“A republic, Madam, if you can keep it!”
The slimy little high heel wearing coke head is no doubt worried that his gravy-train is rapidly approaching its end.
As well as his life reaching it’s”Best by” date…this doesn’t end well for Z…or the EU.
Oh Lord, hear our prayers.
Well now, that has not yet occurred.
Ed Martin said about the investigation of Letitia James and Adam Schiff that they are going to investigate not just the accusation of mortgage fraud but everything, “because when you’re a liar you lie not just on one thing. When you’re a cheater, you cheat not just on one thing. When you’re doing corruption, you generally don’t just do it on one thing.”
These words are 100% relevant also to dealings with President Zelenskyy. I hope that President Trump and his advisors are aware of this being the biggest stumbling block in a peace settlement. Ukraine needs a new leader to take the negotiations further and sign the agreement – not the person who sent hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men into the meat grinder and has littered his country with new graves.
I would love to see a true vote of Ukrainians who want to end the war vs. continue fighting.
Ukraine does not have a leader. He’s an actor playing a part. The CIA , the Brookings Inst, and the EU are really running the show.
But the past few days can’t be walked back so easily, thanks to President Trump!
Interesting he said non Europeans as well. Could it be a balance of more neutral countries and the Europeans?
Probably a requirement from Putin – and a good idea.
We know the NATO troops are biased so neutral troops for balance.
I see it happening. PDJT and Rubio have acknowledged that Russia will have to approve. Germany and Italy already ruling out troops.
Prob putting certain things out to get ukr and eu on board. He’s got to go into a final negotiation with stuff to negotiate away
Why is Macron in the middle and not Zelensky?
Probably because France is our oldest ally. JMG
I hope its a security package provided by the Europeans. No to US troops on the ground. No to US aid also. Continue to sell arms to the Europeans and they can provide them to Ukraine. MAGA
Russia is either too weak to finish Ukraine off or the leadership is afraid of triggering the USA.
The EU has no capabilities, they can’t even stop the illegal immigrants from invading in their millions and feasting on their citizens.
Russia has stated for years what the provocations are and that they are an existential threat to the security of Russia.
They cant now roll over and be a good dog, or they will have zero credibility, and the USA will continue with its long term goal of global dominance.
Maybe all this chatter is just cover to ditch Ukraine and the EU. You don’t need security guarantees if you stop picking fights and trying to submit any competitor.
Austria was neutral after WWII and hasn’t wasted a fortune on military gear that can easily become expensive junk.
Finland was neutral for 80 years and had no issues with Russia, now it has signed up with NATO.
The EU is trying to federalize Europe, and the gangs in power want to stay in power.
Russia has more than enough military power to do as it wants. But that’s the operative word: it doesn’t want Western-style territory-grabbing, and it wants to preserve Ukranian civilians.
Merz the putz, thinks he’s being clever using the word “ceasefire” in every other sentence.
Georgia Meloni sitting with arms folded and a scowl on her face. I wonder what she is thinking.
She’s probably thinking (in my best Italian accent) “This sh*t is seriously f**ked up.“
Meloni is thinking, why did she choose a seat next to Ursula von der Leyen. … Notice the empty area and seat behind Ursula. … Binge eating low calorie sauerkraut, to relieve stress, can have dire effects for everyone else. … The man with the blue tie, sitting on the other side of Ursula seems to be contemplating lighting a match, to send Ursula zooming out of the room like a WW2 German V1, flying ‘buzz’ bomb.
What she think ..? what I see is this…..Why I am sitting here with those EU idiots…….
Europe To Spend $100BN It Doesn’t Have, To Buy Weapons America Doesn’t Have, To Arm Soldiers Ukraine Doesn’t Have | ZeroHedge
Geopolitical analyst and commentator Glenn Diesen has pointed out, however, that Kiev is essentially attempting to create leverage out of nothing.
“Europe will spend $100 billion it does not have, to buy weapons from America that it does not have, to arm soldiers that Ukraine now lacks,” he wrote, explaining further: “This is to confront Russia, which for 30 years warned it would respond to NATO militarizing its borders.”
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/europe-spend-100bn-it-doesnt-have-buy-weapons-america-it-doesnt-have-arm-soldiers
Yeah this is it.
I posted earlier today somewhere around here: how are the Europeans going to do this?
This is why I said the other day that they will rebrand the war, keep it all going as usual and then call that “robust security”.
All they are doing is looking for a means to use as an excuse to keep money flowing.
I would feel better if Trump were on the call too. He could be the moderator who keeps the call on a professional tone and call Z out if he starts anything. Z does not have the skill set for an unsupervised call with Putin.
Agree .. this call is the weak link in the process without Trump.
It sounds like Witkoff Vance or Rubio will be involved in a listening capacity
The Apprentice – season 47: On Steroids!
The “Coalition of the Willing to Risk WWIII” have been taken aback by the speed at which PDJT47 operates. They’re used to a lot of hemming and hawing and high-level meetings in luxurious locations. They’re definitely not used to being called onto the carpet by the American president.
PDJT47 seems to understand that speed is his ally in all things. The traitors in the military/industrial complex, the intelligence community, and their uniparty puppets in Congress, can’t operate that fast without leaving footprints and paper trails, so they have precious little time to create false flags, leaks, or organize protests.
The “security guarantee package” needs to assure the EU and NATO that Russian forces will not end up on their borders with Ukraine, while at the same time assuring Russia that no NATO forces or those of any NATO member end up on Russia’s borders with Ukraine. Those possibilities have been a large part of the concerns of both sides, and the possibility of NATO on Russia’s border with Ukraine was one of the reasons for the war starting in the first place.
I think one topic that no one has been raising but which needs to be raised is that a successful security guarantee package may need to have at the heart of it a guarantee to all sides that Ukraine will become and will remain neutral in any confrontation between the two sides. Place neutrality in Ukraine’s immutable constitution. If attacked by any country, Ukraine should of course have the right and obligation to self-defense. But they should guarantee that they will militarily resist the entrance of any other country’s military into Ukraine for any reason. At the same time, Ukraine should have the right to call upon the peace agreement’s guarantors for military assistance (such as the Article V-like assistance) if they find themselves being invaded and their neutrality violated.
But so long as no one is invading Ukraine, that is no foreign military is crossing the border of Ukraine as established in the peace agreement, then Ukraine remains neutral and cannot assist the military operations of any other country and cannot join into any military alliance. Something like this could go a long way to providing the security assurances being demanded not only by Ukraine but by all other surrounding countries as well.
On the Russian side, I’ve always viewed Sergei Lavrov with respect as one of the best statesmen I have seen. Marco Rubio is quickly becoming his equal.
I do not want my Navy granddaughter going there, she is a Russian linguist,,,,,,,we can stay out of it thank you very much
With the Ukraine War settled under whatever terms, the President can spend that newly available time and energy resource back to draining the swamp–including the corruption and money-laundering going on Ukraine–almost certainly the major reasons the globalist left wants to continue the bloodshed.
My speculation is that Putin accepts “security guarantees” under the administration’s written assurances that Ukraine cannot manufacture conditions for hostility to provoke Russia and invoke the “security guarantee” of intervention with American air power, since Russia will have achieved its objectives and will never have any further need to defend ethnic Russians or its borders from a NATO country bristling at its borders.
Who is afraid of the Euroweenies? Macron was whacked in public by his own man-wife. Their invading hordes certainly have no fear as they carry out their heinous crimes everyday. I do not believe that the Europeans they have the strength, the recruits, the ability, the resources, the leverage or the knowledge to provide security when one side of this battle is Russia led by Mr. Putin.
So, just out of curiosity , what ‘security guarantees’ will the EU be offering Russia if Ukraine or any of the EU countries attack Russia?
A ‘Security guarantee’ should be a two way agreement, should it not?
Whatever one thinks of
Rubio, all must concede he’s handled himself with prudence ,discretion and courage , the 3 prerequisites invariably needed when dealing with Affairs of State and particularly at this penultimate juncture!
Eyes open and on him but Mega-kudos due to
“ Little-Marco”…
A pleasant surprise. He has The Chops…😏
Good interview. Thx.
Color me pessimistic, but I just can’t envision zelenskyy honoring a peace agreement. He might sign one, but he won’t keep it.
I don’t think he can be trusted to keep his word, and I believe
he’ll throw a monkey wrench into any deal that might be made.
Ukraine just doesn’t seem to be trustworthy or sane.
They let obama give away Crimea, then waited a decade to use it as an excuse to pitch an aggressive fit and demand it back.
The people of the Donbas region voted overwhelmingly to leave ukraine and rejoin Russia, because ukraine was routinely slaughtering them. Ukraine refused to honor the election outcome and continued the slaughter.
Yet they continue to snivel and whine and claim victimhood while continuing to antagonize russia.
The only cards ukraine holds are either marked or up their sleeves.
The european unionists are complicit, and the entire bunch of them appear totally untrustworthy.
I still hold out hope that President Trump and President Putin can be the adults in the room and bring about a resolution, but I think it will take some tough love, strong vigilance and swift discipline to do it.
We’ll see.
the exchange is money to rebuild
building takes time= longer peace
He’s not the legitimate head of state anyway. Basically, he’s a dead man standing.
.@SecRubio @VP 🤭 🤣 😂
Perhaps some video calls at the start with Rubio and/or Witkoff also on the call could be helpful before a face to face meeting is arranged.
I remain skeptical. How can Putin trust the western powers, especially after Trump leaves office?
He can’t.
The question after 3.5 years is does he need to?
Russia looks at NATO as a reduced threat after standing up to everything but direct NATO and US involvement. Russia took the ground and the EU lost.
Russia has respect for the US military and a strong President Trump…., the EU doesn’t have the conventional forces to confront Russia period.
IMHO Russia is done, they want a buffer zone and they have it and they degrade their own military and security if they continue. Remember Afghanistan broke Russia before it broke Biden. Endless war.
If Putin is done then a peace agreement is likely eventually.
BTW that flyover in Anchorage, AK at the summit was old style diplomacy. It was recognition of Russia. They used to fire cannon salutes back in the day.
He can’t, but don’t think POTUS is only negotiating for the here and now. He is smarter than that. He is fighting for us, for our country, for the principles of the Constitution. That is also the legacy he wants to leave. After he gets the deals he wants, he will shore them up to withstand time.
The more support he can have from We the People, the more ground he can gain.
MAGA.
“IF they can agree to terms…”
I hope Trump tells Zelensky he is on his own if they DON’T agree to terms!
This is fantasy and will never happen – just saying
Rubio is not informed
interesting interview
Why do we trust Rubio. Was he not himself a deep state actor B4 his current job? He “Seems” to be doing the right things.
I will always have the skepticism of Rubio, but his current behavior, words, and tracks he is leaving, certainly are impressive.
