On this day, the Declaration of Independence is officially signed
August 2, 1776, is one of the most important but least celebrated days in American history when 56 members of the Second Continental Congress started signing the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.
Officially, the Congress declared its freedom from Great Britain on July 2, 1776, when it approved a resolution in a unanimous vote.
After voting on independence on July 2, the group needed to draft a document explaining the move to the public. It had been proposed in draft form by the Committee of Five (John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson) and it took two days for the Congress to agree on the edits. Thomas Jefferson was the main author.
Once the Congress approved the actual Declaration of Independence document on July 4, it was sent to a printer named John Dunlap. About 200 copies of the Dunlap Broadside were printed, with John Hancock’s name printed at the bottom. Today, 26 copies remain.
Then on July 8, 1776, Colonel John Nixon of Philadelphia read a printed Declaration of Independence to the public for the first time on what is now called Independence Square.
Many members of the Continental Congress started to sign an engrossed version of the Declaration on August 2, 1776, in Philadelphia. John Hancock’s famous signature was in the middle, because of his status as President of the Congress. The other delegates signed by state delegation, starting in the upper right column, and then proceeding in five columns, arranged from the northernmost state (New Hampshire) to the southernmost (Georgia).

I went to Franklin NC and was shocked. I was getting gas in a small town near there and noticed how there was 2 societies at the gas station. It was an interesting observation as I watched for an extra few minutes because it was fascinating to me having an interest in Anthropology and taking college courses in that field. If you want a much deeper immersion in different societies, find a hole-in-the-wall mexican restaurant for lunch that has a parking lot filled with worker’s trucks and vans. As you enter the door, you will find yourself transported to another country and time.
Speaking of living the dream – was on one of my regular bicycle rides and happened to catch a glimpse of something you would have likely enjoyed seeing. Was on a section of my ride that is on a path through the woods and there were 6′ tall “weeds” in one section. May not have seen the little fellow if he hadn’t momentarily been spooked by my approached as I was deep in thought – but because he did I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye and turned his way. He moved about 6 feet and then came to a stop as I glided by. Was a brief look, but think he was a golden finch.

Far NW neighbor here, and we occasionally see these delightful visitors in our woods. It’s always a treat. I once found a feather of one in the pasture, and I treasured it for a long while.
When I was a kid back in Kentucky we called them “wild canaries.” They are quite plentiful there. Here in the Seattle area we never see them, along with many other colorful songbirds that are everywhere back home. I guess even the birds detest the politics.

Those wonderful Mexican restaurants abound on the south and west sides of San Antonio. An overflowing plate of 3 enchiladas, rice, and pinto beans costs only $11 – $12. It helps to “fit in” with the admirable, regular folks at these eatery gemstones by wearing ranch clothes and driving the F-150 with brush provided pin striping.
Or, you can pay $24.95 for “Enchiladas ’09” (2 enchiladas, corn and rice) at Paloma Blanco in upscale Alamo Heights where you can eat with the Hugo Boss chinos and Ralph Lauren polos crowd.

My question would be – how much of what he said is true and how much of what he said more lies to mask the full truth? Blackmail traps are the normal order of business since the beginning of time. While having the country’s own intelligence services targeting the country’s officials might be an added player, I’m not sure how it changes much in the scheme of things.
If you have power and influence, expect to be targeted by countless operators. Whether its China, Israel, or the CIA, you won’t particularly know — what difference does it make? Since you should expect it, take steps to proactively recognize and avoid entanglement.
If you are elected to Congress and suddenly start meeting all these people who want to insert themselves in your life in compromising ways, you might as well start cataloging them as operatives of some organization — does it matter which? Post them on a web-site, document their approach. Don’t have to allege anything but it might be interesting to see “who is on the move”.
At best, the collapse in morality and standards into hedonism may have turned “falling for it” from a rare to common occurrence, which may be the real issue or “news” here. But its within their power for people in DC to keep control of their lives.
The increasing number who choose not to and are dumb or weak enough to get involved might be news, but its generally a “dog bites man” story (or reminder to the rest of us what goes on in that situation).
The whole thing seems ripe for undercover investogation and coumentation O’Keefe style, as far as getting inside the scene. A cooperative official or too should bring cameras and reporters to counter-honey-trap the pot and expose all.
In fact, people go to Congrees for all sorts of reasons. So maybe some who are concerned should run for office with the actual purpose of burrowing into the blackmail scene and documenting it all from start to end.

He fails to realize that the “broad center” of which he speaks is far past fed up with the utter lack of anything resembling true, equal justice and the multi-tiered system as it is. Most are also very familiar with a very basic precept – that without consequences actions never cease of their own volition, but instead promulgate as others see that one can commit horrible crimes against the nation and/or people, enrich themselves far beyond need, and walk away scot free, with at most a public tongue lashing.
The writer also seems to fail to understand that the nation already is very much divided – and was pushed very far apart as a result of Dopey and his cohorts – and that there are far too many things for it to ever be any other way as long as the issues continue to exist. Even peaceful co-existence isn’t possible as long as those who would enslave humanity, eliminate much of it, and rule over the ashes continue to hold sway.

I almost completely disagree with the article’s author. First of all, it never ends well if you put yourself over someone regarding his opinion. So, that “blob”, as he put it ELECTED the man. Not only is it completely shameless to make fun of the honest concerns of good people that, contrary to what he suggests, aren’t just looking for some pound of red meat, but for justice and accountability. It is also BEYOND stupid. It is the same elitist mindset of that fellow, that destroyed the democrats in the first place, now coming from the “educated” right. Why are people saving so many emails?
Trash and delete! Immediately, or on a regularly-scheduled basis. Download attachments (or if not an attachnent, copy paste and either print out or otherwise file/save elsewhere) that are important, such as for business/legal/privileged0 or just sentimental. Keep one innocuous something if you want to save the email addy for convenience.
Why would someone keep confidential or privileged (!) emails on a third party’s server.

If one runs a practice…and uses Outlook for email…one has privileged information on a third party server.

Many businesses do not that run their own webservers.
To the extent one uses a third-party or on-line email such as google for convenience, one option is to switch to something more secure such as proton email.
But in any case, just make a habit of regularly trashing and deleting these emails after saving what is important to a non-email format. Google, e.g., doesn’t keep deleted trash more than 60 days. So that’s limited “exposure”.
And don’t have “conversations” with clients via email or text. They can call or come in, and they can be told why.

I have a sweet friend who migrated to the U.S. from Nigeria legally and is now an American citizen, along with her husband and three children.
As time goes by it is apparent that her Nigerian roots run deep, and very much resemble what is spoken about in the video above.
She has no clue about the basics of cleaning a house. None. I’ve cleaned her kitchen, top to bottom, thinking she’d see ‘how it’s done,’ but she didn’t see or didn’t care and her kitchen is always dirty.
I once helped her wash a bunch of clothes — using a nice washer and dryer — and when I went to empty the lint collector on her dryer I was shocked seeing it plugged with lint that had to be pulled out in a big mass. Her daughter, who was 17 years old at the time, asked me what I was doing. I’m sure I looked somewhat horrified at the moment and asked, ‘Don’t you ever empty your lint collector?!’ She said she didn’t even know there was such a thing. I made sure to tell her that dryers — and houses — can start on fire if lint collectors aren’t emptied. . .
Everything in their house was/is the same way, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference what my friend hears or sees. She just does not know how to, or want to, keep her house clean.
But I have a very dear friend who came to the U.S. from China who is the same way, so it might just be that all the hard work I saw my mom do, day after day, year after year, to keep our house, clothes and us so clean must have rubbed off on me.
If he is so tired of seeing the faces of those “who look like him” on mugshots, then I would suggest that instead of being a brain dead belligerent

The pastor said that there was a fight going on between one black man and one white man, and another black man broke the fight up. The pastor then said that the white man slapped the black man who broke up the fight, instead of walking away at that point.
The pastor is saying that the white man continued to fight instead of walking away, which, I’m guessing to him, means the white man is just as guilty as the guy he was originally fighting with.

We were called conspiracy theorists and censored on social media. The very idea that the media would lie, was considered heresy, and was grounds to shame and vilify.
We were called domestic terrorists, Russian assets, Nazis, racists, rapists, sexists, xenophobes, bots, and every name in between. We were discriminated against and have been dragged through the mud for nearly a decade. At many times, it felt like the entire world was against us.
And it turns out, we were right about the entire thing.

President Donald Trump is building a massive ballroom attached to the East Wing. In renderings, released by the White House, the ballroom has grand columns and many windows inside. It is a large open space big enough to seat 650 guests. Trump’s new ballroom is getting a mixed reception. Construction of the ballroom will begin in September and is expected to take two years. The president says he and private donors will cover the $200 million tab.
It’s a great idea. There are just aren’t enough good places for the elite to go and flaunt their wealth and corruption in DC.
I question that there are enough elitists who would actually and truly fit in with a “Ballroom crowd”….

These certificates grant 100% free access to NHS services: including prescriptions, dental care, eye tests, travel to hospital, and more.
The figures were obtained via Freedom of Information request to the NHS Business Services Authority, who confirmed:
– 923,199 certificates were issued to asylum seekers between 2020 and mid-2025
– This represents just over 50% of all HC2 certificates issued in that period
– 2023 alone saw 220,699 issued to asylum seekers
– NHSBSA clarified that asylum seekers receive 6-month certificates (vs. 12 months for others), meaning some individuals may receive more than one certificate per year.
– The data refers to certificates issued, not unique people
They could not provide address-level data (e.g. hotels), nor breakdowns for refugees or temporary accommodation.
