That’s the rub, what is being said in the quiet, behind the scenes are just words, with no actual active follow-up, as President Trump relates his conversation with the First Lady, nice conversation, then bombs; and when sit-down negotiations are being held, the ‘negotiations’ are anything but, in one case the Russian representative spent the whole time giving a history lesson on why Russia owns all of Ukraine and the other side, when it does show up, only wants to negotiate prisoner exchanges or demand the return of Crimea.

Ukraine was a lost cause two years ago, now Russia is picking up pace, making 1,000 drones a day, firing 400 per day. They continue to advance, now at a faster pace. Ukraine has lost 1.3, 1.4 million men, a humiliating defeat for the West and NATO.
I was listening to some academics yesterday about this painful loss which the West won’t let go. Even with any kind of a stalemate or peace deal, they predict:
– once re-armed, even a much smaller Ukraine will attack Russia
– there are 5-6 key spots under the area whete Ukraine/ the West will provoke or attack Russia
It’s a dangerous game to threaten w nukes as we’ll all be dead if they’re used.
President Trump is doing this out of frustration. Will a 200% Tariff on Russia stop their military progress? We have no substantial cache of weapons to send them.
Will a 200%, or 500%, tariff on Russian oil (effectively) spin the world into a recession?
P.S. Russia owns the sky, manufacturing dominance, has North Korea (China) as a backstop, and their new hypersonic unblockable midrange missile w 36 programmable sub-missiles is 5 years ahead of us. They have ‘escalatory dominance’. So if we tried to go to war with them, they can take out anything on the ground in Europe, and we couldn’t likely even get ships close.

Russia lost 25 million people in WW2 when the Germans attacked right through Ukraine. They want a buffer between them any hostile neighbors, and they are right to want that. What Putin has been doing is completely reasonable given our warmongering. In fact, he has been the only reasonable leader involved in this conflict. I had hoped that Trump would be just as reasonable, but lately that has not been the case.

If President Trump put the ICBM fields on alert or raised the DEFCON status or put the B1’s, B2’s and B52’s in the air or forward deployed those bombers that would be viewed as highly aggressive by Russia.
The Submarine based ICBM’s are to keep an adversary from thinking that they can pull off a “first strike” with impunity. The nuclear armed submarines of every country which deploys them are guarding against anyone thinking that they can escape without retaliation in a nuclear conflict. They are mobile and hard to locate and track and so are very hard to target and eliminate in any first strike scenario.
When the deputy Russian security council starts making threats the president is just announcing that we are prepared to answer if we are attacked. He is not escalating anything since Russia and the US always have nuclear armed submarines at sea and ready to answer a threat by any country.
Madness. Trump needs to put a bullet in whoever is calling the shots right now. Because he is getting a lot of stupid ass advice from people on a suicide mission.

Seems like a reasonable for him to say.
And I don’t understand the ultimatum thing. Seems like a good way for Trump to piss everyone off. On one hand he is threatening Russia on the other he basically gave Russia permission to do whatever to they want to Ukraine for the next 50 days .
