White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett gives an impromptu press conference today giving a big picture overview of how the BBB passing will lift the economy. WATCH:
“Going back to the Wharton School of Business, Donald Trump is one notable alumni from the prodigious institution. The business school was founded by the industrialist Joseph Wharton for the sole purpose of teaching protectionism to aspiring economists and entrepreneurs.
Wharton deplored free trade, calling it a “fungus . . . a source of infection which healthy political organisms can hardly afford to tolerate.” Tariffs, on the other hand, “can defeat the foreign plunderer . . . better than a fort.””
When helping to revamp and actively work to redirect the efforts of my employer’s New Business and Advanced Development Organization …. we had a couple of “Wharton MBA’s” on staff who introduced us to the Porter’s 5-Forces Model, which was (may still be) core to the Wharton School of Business’ academic philosophy. We adopted the model and moved forward.
President Trump’s education at Wharton would have also been founded upon this model.
Watching President Trump’s Team operate seems to follow this Model quite successfully.

Ultimately, you are correct — and, I as one of MANY, stand 4-square behind those objectives and the DJT Admin — but, all such National things, as coordinated by the Fed State, must be achieved while being true to our Foundational American Principles.
To wit: much of our Fed Govt tax code — to which the BBB will adhere — is based on Fascistic Principles; of this, there is no doubt.
[For those who are unfamiliar with the foundational characteristics of fascism, read “The Doctrine of Fascism” by Benito Mussolini and Giovanni Gentile. Fascism — at their core, state-run enterprises — are inherently anti-America, anti-free and fair competition … ultimately, severely corrosive and destructive to our American way of life].
Rome was not built in a day; besides, the deep pit in which we, as a Nation, find ourselves is deep and will take a series of pro-USA to complete the necessary extrication … and DJT and his Admin, if anybody, is up to the task.
And 1000 pages of inexcusable Deep State pork to keep current taxes and get money for immigration..
Look at the congressional RINOS and Deep Staters grining ear-to-ear.
They have learned as long Trump wins, his supporters will be satisfied. So once Trump commits to something, all you have to do is adjust it a bit so he can’t back out. The BBB approach was tailor-made for the Deep State.
Claiming another for the win column is so important. It became about Trump not appearing to get denied a win.

A small issue compared to the big ones, but I don’t understand the purpose of tax-free overtime. Doesn’t overtime reduce employment? Maybe it gives employers the opportunity to use the most productive employees to get things done correctly, rather than less capable new hires? Perhaps employers will be able to use ‘straight time pay’ rather than time and a half, if unions and employees go along (unlikely). Perhaps encouraging overtime fosters the old protestant work ethic which built the country, but which has largely disappeared now? Maybe it slightly favors the lower and middle class, over ‘mangement’ bonus and stock options?
Overtime is required by law for non-exempt workers, that is workers who are paid an hourly wage vs salaried workers, usually managers and such, who are considered exempt level. The law requires payment of time and a half for hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week. Those workers who receive OT are taxed at a higher rate because the OT pay pushes them into a higher tax bracket. Eliminating tax on those earnings will be a big boost for those workers. OK, that’s all I know.
I don’t think so. Employers’ payroll taxes consist of matching the employee’s deductions for Social Security and Medicare, not income tax. So that should not change.
The idiots in the senate put all kinds of caps on the good stuff that was in the bill beforehand. This new Senate version of the bill is a travesty aside from kicking out the illegals.
The tax bracket is recalculated for every pay period. No, I don’t make $200k/year sir. I made $100/hour in only one week because of overtime. But that pay period is taxed as though you make $200k/year anyway.
There are certain fields who are paid a salary, but also considered non-exempt. So they do receive OT in addition to their salary for any time worked over 40 hours.
I only know this because I helped on a case utilizing FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act). I wrote the job description portion in the complaint which was filed as a class action suit. It won & held up on appeal.
thanks. you confirm for me that a primary benefit is part of astrategy to move back toward the work ethic produciob and middle class, from financilization which adds nothing.
Look at the economic results of Term 1 prior to COVID.
Labor markets were on 🔥 🔥 and employers could not hire enough workers because of “Trumponomics”.
Overtime pays time and a half, which will now be tax free. We will only pay taxes on 40 hrs/week. Now work 10 hrs overtime (10 hr days instead of 8), but get paid 15 hrs….tax free.
Now multiply that by 4. In one month, I can earn 60 hrs of tax free income. Completely exempt, and won’t count towards my tax bracket.
This represents a MASSIVE increase in “take home pay” and disposable income, which will itself fuel more growth.
The middle class, which the globalists were trying to destroy, will be getting injected with a new source of wealth-building income the likes of which haven’t been seen since the end of WWII. And this is independent from stock market or investment performance. $$ to pay down debt and reach economic liberty.
Rocket fuel for the US economy.
Corporate profits will balloon, and so will their tax bills (read: increased govt revenue), but the suits will be happy, because their stocks will be going ballistic.
Everyone wins. Except the globalists and the parasites.
Great explanation Landslide. I posted on another CTH site two days ago how everyone of us hourly workers complained about getting clobbered tax wise by working OT. Your response is way better than my post. I also posted that when the BBB gets passed, and the OT tax is eliminated, then every hourly worker will stop voting for anti-American democrats forever.
Great explanation, thanks again for posting.
Overtime pay is usually the result of management. Resulting in extra costs, the taxes on wages have corresponding expenses to the business, and this will reduce somewhat that expense, as well as increasing workers income that the Gov. then does not steal.

It is going to cross the finish line. POTUS was calling everyone. He was upbeat, enthusiastic.
Thune and Johnson have done something miraculous
This is the most ambitious tax bill in my lifetime. I’ve been studying tax since I was a grad student.
It has passed in record time. An amazing accomplishment for republicans. It is something to really celebrate on this force
Q: I believe Jeff is still speaking. What are your thoughts on that
I think this is the kind of useless and futile efforts we’ve been seeing from the democrats in this congress sadly.
Q: do you know anything about the employee retention credit and has the Treasury done anything to manage this?
I’d have to get back with you on that
Q: Do you have any interest on the FED chair and the president:
A: I can’t really comment on that, but I really enjoyed the job I have here at the white house
Q: Can we expect more details in the Vietnam trade deal?
A: I think the present will make the final call on that but I think we are very close
Q: Can we expect that the other countries will see a higher tariff increase?
A: It depends on how they negotiate with us
Question unintelligible
Q: What are you weekend plans will you be working phones:
A: I will be writing there. All we can. We have a lot of regulations to write for the new tax code
Q: If the bill passes, when should Americans know about it kicking in?
A: The way to think about it is it is already started. The way. You can see it is there was an incredible job’s boom and the job report today. It was very unexpected
but there is 77 economist who were surveyed about what the jobs number would be by Bloomberg
Only 1 had a number that was is high and he was a Canadian fellow
. The performance of the Academy has been exactly what President Trump promised.
It has outperformed the expectation of Wall Street, and it is because this bill is coming
In vessels are saying we have to buy the machines before the competition buys them
We have to hire the workers before our competition hires. There is a race to prepare for the expected boom
There is a race to increase economic activity right now that is unprecedented–-because of the bill
Q: Did you think would be the staff to get the bill through?
Q: When the reciprocal chairs increase the overall weighted average of those paragraphs is going to be pretty significant
Hassert: . We will see what happens with these
Q: I mean you said you are negotiating with dozens of countries in earnest, and the other countries have not. The president has said he is going to send a letter to all the countries with a rate
Hassert: It is a work in progress. It is still with James and Howare Leffler
Q: Why is it that you think it is not going to have any impact on inflation?
Hassert: Right now the inflation rate is the lowest it has been since the president took office by every measure.
We got several measures that are well below 2, and Tariff revenues went up.
If you look at the details, the cost of imported goods has actually gone down
So there is lower inflation rate for imported goods then there is for domestic goods
So the outdated notion that tariffs will increase inflation is disproven over and over.
Shared on an earlier thread.
Might be that PDJT is pulling the Gordian knot tighter before cutting it outright. Signal and counter signals are rampant right now. But pausing weapons shipments to UKR is what needs to happen and especially now.

We don’t need no stinking wars and we want to start doing a lot of new business with Russia. Our new global partner in all things anti-Chineeessee belt and road. Watch the winning continue. I’ll translate how this works…
Keynesian economics emphasizes government intervention to manage the economy, particularly during recessions, through fiscal policy and managing aggregate demand.
In other words, Trump is doing what Biden, himself, Obama and Bush has done for years. Sink massive ever increasing government debt into the economy to falsely inflate activity. While ignoring the downstream effects of their behavior.
Yet “it’s better” this time according to the progressive cult. Who’s argues that the 140th and 141st continuing resolutions that are already announced and being planned are not actually CRs.
Trump holds the record for the most debt spent by any president and he is just setting a new one.
We’re not doing ANY significant downsizing, we’re actually again INCREASING. We’re piling on 50% raw materials tariffs that kill manufacturing and we seem to have completely lost the fact that it’s government regulation that’s killed US competition in manufacturing.
I remember when this kinda stupidity use to get called out here in spades. But now, Big Government is good!!
Your translator is defective. Yes, the debt ceiling was increased in this bill. Too many rino’s to actually cut more, but that’s okay.
The CBO scored this and says the debt will increase. Their scoring is flawed. The treasury is taking in MORE money since 45’s tax cuts went into effect. CBO is also under estimating growth. With the growth that this will create (and that 47’s creating with tariff policies to bring back businesses and manufacturing) you can reduce the deficit by growing the economy.
second, they could not include the money saved from eliminating programs, etc and cutting spending—like USAID and other boondoggles where money was budgeted but the President stopped. There will be a separate bill to eliminate that.
Last, income from tariffs is NOT included in the scoring. That will also be money that will reduce the deficit. And it looks as if the tariffs could generate some significant income. Hopefully, we’ll get back to producing a true budget and be able to cut out a lot of the waste in the coming years. Time will tell. But I’m not as pessimistic as you.

I don’t think so. Employers’ payroll taxes consist of matching the employee’s deductions for Social Security and Medicare, not income tax. So that should not change.
Except those rates are computed from gross wages, so it should reduce employers’ burden.
Drama Clean is correct, Payroll Taxes == social sec. and medicare, and probably more that I am no longer aware of. Retired in 2016
A couple things –
1. It will allow workers to deduct overtime pay from their federal income taxes only for tax years 2025 through 2028.
2. This deduction is capped at $12,500 for individuals and $25,000 for couples filing jointly. This is not some endless money pot.

Thanks for education on this point.
In the 1990’s CA changed that to over 8 hours a day. It was ridiculous for those of us who preferred to flex our daily hours without triggering OT.
Like every thing this lost state does it made things worse.

So there is lower inflation rate for imported goods then there is for domestic goods
So the outdated notion that tariffs will increase inflation is disproven over and over.
That’s all the time I have
Excellent news from the “Happy Warrior”!!!
Hey “ WORDMAN”, here’s one for you.
“He Hass(what)ett takes”!
Shared on an earlier thread.
Might be that PDJT is pulling the Gordian knot tighter before cutting it outright. Signal and counter signals are rampant right now. But pausing weapons shipments to UKR is what needs to happen and especially now.
PDJT will start ramping up US energy output, elec. grid upgrades, re-industrializing industry, and helping the new corporate America focus on 10+ trillion dollars in new investments. We don’t need no stinking wars and we want to start doing a lot of new business with Russia. Our new global partner in all things anti-Chineeessee belt and road. Watch the winning continue. God bless the US.
BIG win!
Even after the vote steal to bias the Congress against President Trump’s agenda he still got a win today!
Fix the election scam must be his lasting legacy or there will be no legacy except us remnants who know.
Just out today, this 35 minutes interview, which does talk about US Independence.
How this fits with Trumps Team, I think there is affinity there:
“Brigadier General Dr. Robert Spalding III, former B-2 Spirit pilot, former member of the National Security Council, and relentless critic of the CCP and its’ quest for totalitarian world domination”…

Eyes Right…
We have liftoff.
the center of your (phony baloney) worry bead universe.
I’m not sure about the rest of you but this sounded a little like the “less than happy Hasset” than we’re accustomed to.
Probably deferring to our VSG’s big time on the 4th of July.
I think he just looked a little tired, probably from little to no sleep.
Tired but happy!
ICE and the BBB…
The speaker of the house said, don’t ttust the governmet.
He spoke the truth then.
An overview would have been quite useful a while back.
And cue up Elon Musk “American Party” in 3-2-1…
He always has such a cheerful and upbeat way about him.
If you’re a sucker.
But I’m not as pessimistic as you.
has PDJT signed it yet?
So many so happy with BBB.
While the debt growth continues to accelerate with the BBB.
And the next stage of biowarfare targeting only the US axis is being readied.
