With the BBB back in the House of Representatives, Speaker Mike Johnson now has the difficult job to push the bill to a final floor vote and get it to President Trump’s desk.
Anticipating pushback and refusal of support from the House Freedom Caucus, earlier this morning President Trump sent a message via Truth Social drawing attention to the objective of the bill to generate economic growth:
PRESIDENT TRUMP – “Nobody wants to talk about GROWTH, which will be the primary reason that the Big, Beautiful Bill will be one of the most successful pieces of legislation ever passed. THIS GROWTH has already begun at levels never seen before. Trillions of Dollars are now being invested into the USA, more than ever before. Likewise, hundreds of Billions of Dollars in Tariffs are filling up the coffers of Treasury. The Tariff money has already arrived and is setting new records! We are growing our way out of the Sleepy Joe Biden MESS that he and the Democrats left us, and it is happening much faster than anyone thought possible. Our Country will make a fortune this year, more than any of our competitors, but only if the Big, Beautiful Bill is PASSED! As they say, Trump’s been right about everything, and this is the easiest of them all to predict. Republicans, don’t let the Radical Left Democrats push you around. We’ve got all the cards, and we are going to use them. Last year America was a “DEAD” Nation, with no hope for the future, and now it’s the “HOTTEST NATION IN THE WORLD!” MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Meanwhile, as noted by Politico: “House Freedom Caucus members like Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) blasted the Senate’s bill Tuesday for adding to the deficit and softening clean energy tax credits. Roy and Norman both voted against the bill in the Rules Committee overnight.”
Speaker Johnson has to navigate the timing of the BBB reaching the floor, and in an effort to dissuade the concerns of the professional republican naysayers he is informing them of possible alternatives to changes in the current bill. “In an interview on Fox News on Tuesday night, Johnson said the House will plan to do two more reconciliation bills during this session of Congress, which ends in 2026.”

Massie is going to be a problem.
He is a problem and I don’t understand why anyone would listen to him. He is only about himself. He has been a Never-Trumper.
Especially since Elon has said he is going to get Massie voted into the Congress this next election. I wonder how many of these holdouts are under the thumb of Elon Musk?
He always has been I call him assie
Not the only one.
Okay…while we wait…something about someone being obnoxious and disliked….
And all y’all knew at some point I would post this….
Treepers: Our resident classicist and phenomenal poster, Ausonius, has shared with us a great German word for all that is going on today: Strassentheater (or roughly, street theater).
Thats all this is…the BBB will pass. The holdouts need to play their predesignated roles; the Media needs to ramp up the angst and drama (like the background music in Jaws) and when it passes, all the performers high five, and walk off the stage arm-in-arm.
Their principles end when the vacation bell is about to ring.
That’s a good read. But just this past week, 4 or 5 key researchers at OpenAI were hired away by Zuck (facebook mogul) for $100,000,000 each. Rumors one got $1 billion.
The point is, while there is delay there is always a chance for something to go horribly wrong. When playing chicken, sometimes things don’t work out.
I get it. “Time kills deals” is one of the oldest proverbs in the business community.
As an aside, maybe I should have taken that computer class back in 10th grade (1985).
Can’t see how you can be in a ‘freedom’ caucus and vote for your country to stay under siege. Don’t get me started on what I think of our representatives having clubs that serve the interest of that club rather than the people who elected them. Want to make America better. Get rid of those clubs. Put them back to serving those who elected them. .
You people are too far gone…
TDS knows no bounds.
It doesn’t take hundreds of Billions of dollars to protect a Federal Building…
We are not at war.
We have permanently eliminated the global terrorist threat of nuclear annihilation.
The enemy is defunded.

And rightly so !!!
This Country used to hang horse thieves…
The opposite of profit is theft.
A Government that cannot “afford” to make it’s own Lincoln Penny out of copper…
Does not deserve a single ONE of them in “Revenue” !!!
Why in the world would the D/Hamas spirit of antichrist {anti America} Loser party of hate endorse ANY of this ???

What does your post even mean… I don’t understand what you are trying to say.
Finally, got it done to 7 holdouts and the vote is 213 Yea, and 212 Nay.
Course, one of the holdouts may vote Nay.
Thanks for the information update! But does that mean Massie voted Yea?
That’s what I saw on Unseen’s twit, but haven’t been able to confirm yet.
Thanks for the reply!
I hope those seven Republicans are ready to pack their bags.
It absolutely kills me that any Republican would NOT be in DC this week. Cuz they didn’t know this was coming?
Yep
They did this on the previous vote: delayed it by hours, then just enough voted to make it 213-212 (all 212 dems voted no.) I expect the next vote to go the same way (unless elon slips a few hundred mill to these “patriots.”)
Yeah, they did!
But what is interesting this time around is that the vote is now 214 (R) -212 (D) and yet they’re still holding the vote open after 2+ hours into a 15 minute vote–Which means the Speaker can close it at this point, but chooses not to.. Wonder why?
PS: It just changed to 215-212.
I assume deals are being made, somebody’s kids are getting good jobs, etc?
I’ll assume that this kind of deal would take far more than just their kids getting good jobs. Reckon that would just be standard opening bid for buying a Congress Critter. I believe this would take a much higher “inducement”!
Elon is interfering and that is not acceptable. If he does, he is not a patriot and neither are those who accept his bribes.
Another baseline + budget.
I hear a few good things.
Probably just sugar coating on the poison pill.
There is just too much all at once, and every CR is like Christmas for Politicians.
They don’t care it isn’t THEIR money at all.
This is not a budget or CR vote!
Why do you keep stating it is?
You are completely misinformed about what this reconciliation bill is. Or you are trying to misinform.
It is not a CR.
I’m leaning towards your second sentence.
A little out of date, but sure gets the point across.
Yep – billions snd billions for UKR, but not a penny to protect our southern border –
Riiiiggghhtttt.
No pretending they care about US!
so what? the only things that matter are permanent tax cuts, and $100 B for DHS (illegal immigrant deportations). 2nd tier: reduced regs, full expense deductions to keep $ rolling into investment; support key military improvements. 3rd tier: everything else.
Permanent tax cuts begin and end with voluntary cooperation of the taxpayer…
We The People
The unmitigated gall…
Shoving THIS down the collective throats of We The People on Our 249th INDEPENDENCE DAY ???
I don’t want your chains to rest lightly…

Permanent tax cuts of 2-3% are worth that much to you??
Susan Kokinda discusses Donald Trump’s unique approach to American politics, highlighting his resistance to public sector cuts and his efforts to revive the American economy through tariffs, immigration reform, and tax policy. She contrasts Trump’s policies with traditional austerity measures, often propagated by British-influenced economics and conservative groups. Kokinda also addresses Trump’s significant geopolitical moves, including efforts to end conflict in Africa and reduce America’s involvement in perpetual wars. As America’s 250th birthday approaches, Kokinda emphasizes the ongoing struggle between American sovereignty and British globalist influences, urging viewers to join a movement supporting Trump’s vision for a sovereign American future.
My hunch is that this will be sent back to the Senate with revisions… I imagine it will be weeks before it is passed….Unless this is all Kabuki theater
Kabuki Theater
Let’s hope so
They are selling their votes. Holding out for top dollar.
Did you write that yourself?
Paragraphs are your friend, gator.
Thanks
👍
Hey, hey come on now, keep those inconvenient facts out of it. There will be no typical give and take, no last minute negotiations or deal making. And especially no discussion about the actual remaining issues. The plan is to flip off, disparage and condemn any and all holdouts. Get with the program.
I’m really going to be pissed if Massie and his posse block the bill.
I may only be a little ol’ farmer, but I have reach…
And Elon is in the permanent circular file.
“And it’s burn, burn, burn. That ring of fire. That ring of fire!”
Thank you, Sundance. Time for all to Double Down and Do It.
To Freedom Caucus: phone home.
So is it true or not that taxpayer funded transgender surgeries are still in the bill? What about not fully removing illegals from Medicaid? Simple yes or no. Seems more than reasonable to expect them to not be included. If in there, get those out and pass the bill. Jeesh!
NO.
<sigh>
Bless his heart.
I suppose this thing is “safe and effective”
They can do “two weeks to flatten the curve”….
Only way this would be big and beautiful would be if it cut us gov spending in half
Going to make this short and sweet. Nice try slick but you made some pot hole errors that exposes your leftward anti-MAGA tilt that raise serious questions about validity of your doom and gloom everything is lost diatribe. Note tax cuts on personal income do not cost the government anything. In fact, historically every tax cut has generated increased revenue to the government. With respect to the deficit/debt while this bill was being processed through the House and Senate the deficit/debt theorectically went down approximately $2 trillion as a result of early tariff revenues and the impact of DOGE actions. And of course that does not take into account the finalized full impact of the tariffs and increasing impact of the exponential savings that has and will continue to occur with the government efficiency effort (reduced employees, eliminated agencies and sold vacated government properties). Last but not least every deported illegal represents paydown the debt money. Also, note if the House and Senate bill are different, they have to be reconciled. But the bottom line is trusting POTUS Trump. He’s got a good track record and has delivered before whereas the RINOs (including some HFC members and so-called MAGA supporters) and of cource Democrats always flame out because of their lies plus false projections. So good luck slick because the guy in the POTUS chair knows more about lighting a fire under this country’s economic potential and other key elements than all the co-called experts and oponents.
To whom are you addressing your post?
To the collective RINO stealth Dems doom and gloom naysaying nitpickers in addition to MAGA folk who can’t pull themselves back to view the bill in the context of what the sum of the parts actually accomplishes with respect to correcting the major issues that we now face.
Is this latest 15 minute vote turning into a record at over 4 hours long and still going?
Speaker Johnson has left to pick up his wife.
There are 4 Republican holding everything up. Since they are not petitioning Speaker Johnson or meeting with President Trump there is only one other thing they are doing. They are talking with the Dems in my view. The Dems have been calling for exactly four Republican to turn on their constituents.
Disgusting and traitorous to their voters if true. Does anyone know why they are holding out now otherwise?
The Dems called them out by name. They knew who they were.
So, who are they?
Perry was the one I recall the most.
One of the reasons why there is always a group of Republican “holdouts” when there is an important bill that the Republican leadership must make sure is passed is because those holdouts know that leadership is going to come to them with all kind of offers that the holdouts desire, usually having to do with bringing home the bacon or something else that the voters in their states or districts want. And so eventually leadership will pick off just enough of the holdouts to pass the bill. And if the bill is really important, then the price each Republican holdout demands will be very high. Happens every time.
On the other side, Democrat leadership typically handles it differently. Since increasingly the Democrat party nowadays is a leftwing party of European outlook, their leadership insists on something called party discipline. There are few holdouts, if any, because it is not the holdouts who demand a price, it is the leadership that exerts a price if any of them dare holdout and not vote the right way. How they handle it is most often to extract one of two kinds of price. First, if you really want to vote against the party, then forget about getting that committee assignment you really desire and have been waiting for. Or, you may lose one or more of the committee assignments you already have.
Or for the second kind of price, you might just get primaried in the next election. For members who toe the line, the Democrats try hard to have only one candidate going into a primary, but if you don’t toe the line, they may arrange an opponent for you. And you won’t just have an opponent, but you will find all the party campaign money and all the best donor money will go to your new opponent. You really don’t want that.
This is how the Democrats almost always enforce party discipline, and it is why we so seldom hear about Democrat holdouts. Republicans almost never pay a price for being a holdout – they always get offered something of value not to be a holdout. Like Murkowski in the Senate just got a big rural healthcare package that she really wanted to bring home to Alaska, which she needs because she is not too popular these days.
Republicans in the leadership need to learn how to keep members in line more like the Democrats do.
I agree to a point.
Lisa Murkowski has never been that popular. Her Daddy appointed her and Rank-Choice Voting cheated her way into the Senate…she’s a worthless tool.
I was being a little bit facetious with the word ‘popular’. She probably wants that rural healthcare funding because she expects to get a cut of it one way or another. Her payment for providing the necessary vote at the last moment.
Breitbart is reporting positive signs bill will pass tonight.
Ralph Norman has been a major opponent of the bill, so his comment below surprised me:
“Breitbart News Deputy Political Editor Bradley Jaye reported in a post on X that Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) had “suggested that the White House is making progress closing the deal” on the Trump-backed bill.”
“Our meeting opened a lot of questions that we want to make sure is right,” Jaye wrote in his post, adding that Norman said, “The White House enlightened holdouts how its implementation” the Big, Beautiful Bill “would accomplish what they want, but wouldn’t give specifics.”
Also per a Politico reporter says Mike Johnson “stated that the House of Representatives was going to get the bill “there tonight,” adding that they were “working on it and very, very positive” about the progress.”

Herding Cats is a helluva task!
Soooo damn true!
Republicans all talking down their own bill. What a pack of morons.
What the hell are these GOP holdouts gonna argue? “We just had to allow the largest tax increase in history to screw the taxpayers.”
OR, “We have to allow ALL illegal immigrant trespassers to get federal Medicaid benefits paid for by American taxpayers.”
