Folks need to understand that reconciliation rules prevented this bill from doing lots of stuff that would have made it better. But if this is not the perfect bill — it is a very good one.
And it looks like it’s going to get passed even though the GOP has razor thin margins in both the House and Senate — even thinner than you think when you factor in the likes of Murkowski, Collins, and those House dolts from NY screaming for SALT deductions or else!

A reconciliation bill can only include items that affect outlays or revenue. Those items only need a simple majority for them to pass, while anything else needs a minimum of 60 votes and need to be put into some other bill. This is according to rules only adopted by the Senate in the late 1970s. The problem (aside from those Senate rules) is that it sounds like this so-called parliamentarian has crossed the line into cutting things that actually do affect outlays and which should only take a simple majority to pass. I suppose her definition of “outlays” is pretty malleable.

And part of the trouble that I have with “Congress in general” is that the “Bills” are massive. And, they are “all or nothing, take it or leave it.” (The idea of a “line-item veto” was shot down.) No one actually has the time to read even one of them in its entirety to find all of the kitchen sinks.
Other countries have passed laws which require “bills” to be relatively short and single-purpose. This means that their legislatures must grind through a whole lot more of them, but it also means that it’s actually possible to read them! 🤡

I too am a trader. I make money when the mkt. Is up and when it it is down. It never goes straight up or down. You buy the dips and sell the upswing. Do you leave money on the table? Yes. Every time because you can’t perfectly time the mkt.
I trade with Range bars not time based bars. If you look for relative equal highs/Lows, you can target those areas as stops will be resting just above. You are correct however, there are no guarantees in trading that’s why I follow a process and use Range bars. If I trade a 7, 19, or 39 tick range bar, I know one guarantee, where it will close. You only get one high or one low, never both, like a time based bar gives. I’ve been trading since 2006, retired from the industry I was in in 2012 and became a full time trader. I only trade futures. I did Currencies & equities many years ago. I know how the markets breathe and I watch how they manipulate, especially prior to reports like CPI, PPI etc, etc.

Yup, Vice President JD Vance, as President of the Senate, can override the Senate Parliamentarian’s recommendations. The Parliamentarian advises on Senate rules, like whether a provision in a budget reconciliation bill fits the Byrd Rule, but their advice isn’t binding. When presiding, Vance can make a procedural ruling that goes against the Parliamentarian, like keeping a provision they flagged as non compliant. This power comes from the Constitution (Article I, Section 3), which makes the VP the President of the Senate. It’s rare, though, since the Parliamentarian’s the expert & overriding them can stir up trouble.

The Senate Majority Leader, John Thune (@LeaderThune), doesn’t have direct authority to override the Parliamentarian’s recommendations like Vance does, as he’s not the presiding officer.

I watched this live today. The video Sundance linked and the freeze frame, I knew exactly what moment that was during the event. There is such respect and appreciation between those men.
There are so many wonderful things happening and so many pending, I pray CONgress gets their um, act together and puts a legit BBB on the President’s desk to be signed.
I can’t help but wonder if this was Thune’s play, having the Parliamentarian be the bad guy, as loads more junk is added and needed cuts or funding suffers.
We deserve it, it’s what we voted for and President Trump deserves it as he tries to deliver for all of America.

The debt growth continues to accelerate with BBB.
Keeping things propped up for a while longer while the substantive real economy based on industry is too hollowed out to restore the nation, education is irreversibly dumbed down, the unassimilated immigration flood has profoundly degraded coherent society, the weakening military is being further weakened with rapid cuts to DoD civilian expertise, and the apparent biowarfare democide of [engineered virus + matching genetic manipulation injections] continues – with the next campaigns staging for deployment (Replicons, modRNA livestock injections tainting the human food supply).
The complexities keep everyone focused on the trees, missing the forest view.
