I just watched a very short video of Mrs Hortman right after the bill denying (appropriately) free healthcare to illegals was passed.
She could barely hold it together… and at the end she didn’t, crying as the video ended.
It looked as if perhaps her Democrats colleagues had had words with her before she came to the microphone..
This woman voted for the interests of all people in Minnesota, her party not withstanding. I shouldn’t have to use the word “brave” when I describe someone such as she who does the right thing, but we all know what Democrats are.

According to reports I’ve read, the cops recognized the assassin during the shoot out and called it in to HQ. They were, apparently, told to stand down. I think the shooter was allowed to escape because of his political connections.

Do you need an AT&T locked phone for your plan? T-Mobile is great about allowing unlocked phones of all types on their network. Before T-Mobile I had a prepaid AT&T plan using an unlocked BlackBerry phone. In July of ’21, AT&T started hijacking my phone one day a month and they routed my calls to AT&T to listen to a rep give me a ten minute lecture on how my phone would not work after January ’22 unless it was on AT&T’s approved list and no BlackBerry phones were. I had picked up my phone to make an urgent call to a customer and I told the rep this so he responds with, “If you let me finish we can REPAIR your phone and you can make that call.” I replied that my phone didn’t need repair but AT&T was refusing to allow me to use it! I reminded him that I had a pre paid plan and they were stealing service that I already paid for! I then told him to remember me and see if I was still an AT&T customer in 3 weeks. I went with T-Mobile and kept my phone number and T-Mobile gladly accepted my BlackBerry which still works fine 3 1/2 years later. I use it as a backup phone with my daily driver being a Unihertz Titan which AT&T wouldn’t allow either.
Me, too. My cell is $30/month and internet/TV is $104/month. Also paying $15/month for the ‘cheap phone’ because the one I had wasn’t compatible with Spectrum. That IS a deal.
I am with T-Mobile and my cell phone bill is $60/mo, prepaid. I have unlimited calls, texting and data with that so I tether my laptop to my cell phone via Wi-Fi hotspot which means no wires! Even if you’re charging your phone you can tether. Any Android phone since at least Android 9, and probably Android 6, can tether a laptop with no equipment to buy other than the cell phone itself. Your phone can be used to do anything a smart phone can do at the same time your computer can be doing anything different. I’m not sure of the range but my cell phone provides a great signal throughout the downstairs of my house. I have unlimited data but after a certain data usage point, the signal slows down but is only noticeable when watching video. The signal is good enough for at least 3 devices. So, $60/mo buys me unlimited cell phone use and unlimited internet access. I watch a movie pretty much every night and even when the data has slowed down, watching movies is still enjoyable. If you’re traveling you have an internet connection as long as you have a cell connection.
There is an excellent documentary from 10-15 years ago called “The Dish”. Its about the black market for sattelite service in Iran, and how the people there are willing to risk their lives to get western news and media. There is an underground market for VHS tapes too, for simple movies such as The Little Mermaid or other family type media.
It was a great insight into the lives of ordinary Iranians, who are not zealots, and just want to live their lives.

Years ago I had a verbal exchange with my liberal boss. We worked in Agricultural research btw. He claimed that we needed immigrants to pick our fruit and vegetables, because Americans would not do it.

I have a neighbor couple that has embraced the electric vehicle thing. All I can think about when I see them in their luxury electric Audi is that they just exported the environmental damage of battery material extraction with child labor to other countries in Africa, in Chile and elsewhere where they don’t have strict environmental or labor laws like we do.

It had a large photo of President Trump with balloons on both sides, and above the photo it read, “Happy Birthday President Donald J. Trump,” and below it read, “Thank you for fighting for our Constitutional Republic, against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. From the 46.95% of Lake County voters — 3,265 citizens — who voted for YOU.”
For years I’ve heard the socialists around here say that there are NO REPUBLICANS in Lake County. I wanted to wish our President a Happy Birthday — even though I know he will never see the ad — and wanted to make sure the socialists could no longer lie about how many Republicans/conservatives actually lived here, shoot, we got 46.95% of the vote in 2024! That’s YUGE!

Now, even though Trump dodged the snare, they’ve still had to use this slogan, with little resonance, because of all the preparation and costs that have gone into producing all the ‘spontaneously’ created’ materials to support the campaign.
If this timetable is correct then it strongly suggests that the TRO’s were carefully planned affairs, where the appearance of normality concealed potentially criminal enterprises, or at least judicial misconduct, because how else would the outcome of the applications have been known beforehand. Ground report….at the park I spoke of yesterday–barricades that were not present in the morning but were in the late afternoon, today around 3pm today, lots of people milling about in the park…several tents set up…the park is on the west side of Rt 47…on the east side it looked like a union strike counter protesting… with signs etc. lots of Caucasian type young and middle age people but not as many as in the park…American flags, other signs I could not read as I was driving…3 police SUV’s parked in the middle of the road and a sign about traffic control.
It looked like a picnic in the park…and a union strike across the street.
