According to a statement by New Jersey U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, a grand jury has indicted Representative LaMonica McIver (N.J) on three charges related to her involvement in a violent stunt at an ICE facility.
Previously the Dept of Homeland Security released body camera footage showing LaMonica McIver, instigating a violent confrontation with DHS and Immigration Customs and Enforcement officials in Newark, New Jersey. The indictment today is another step in President Trump’s promise to continue targeting and deporting illegal aliens.

And once we get those handled we go after Eisen. Those are a bit more complicated. But I’ve maintained for years that there is enough in his public statements alone to bring multiple indictments b4 a GJ. And no doubt what the investigation could reveal privately woukd send him to prison for life. Or worse. The real question is whether there is anyone in the DOJ with enough courage.

We need to overhaul grand juries to a catastrophic degree. There is no way a reasonable group of people looks at this and sees it as “storming a facility”. If anything, agents who intercepted her should be charged for violating the law that gives her the right to be there.
The main problem is that prosecutors are left alone with the J, to the extent that prosecutors today believe they “own” the grand jury. There needs to be an institutional check on prosecutors here. Every grand jury should be required to have a presiding magistrate judge whose primary role is to protect the integrity of the jury itself (advising its members on the authority of the jury, etc).
The accused should also have a right to have its counsel present to observe – not allowed to speak to the jury, but may pass notes to the presiding magistrate.
Lastly, grand juries also need to be able to wield a ‘special indictment’ beyond the charges brought to it, in which case the presiding judge (actual judge, not magistrate) may appoint a special independent prosecutor to prosecute the indictment. This could be wielded against executive branch prosecutors who abuse their authority or otherwise violate the public interest.
EDIT: Couple more thoughts. Mclver’s prosecution is very rare for a sitting member of Congress. Charges are usually only brought if there are allegations of fraud or corruption.
She’s a member of Congress and performing her official duties of oversight on an ICE facility in her district. The second she identifies herself should be granted full access to the facility. That’s the law. The ICE employees who obstructed her should be held in contempt of Congress.
Strictly from a legal perspective, actions like this add wood to the fire that the current administration is acting lawlessly.

I am not an attorney, but I am in person with eyes and a little common sense. When you look at the video, it shows a bunch of politicians and their staff acting violently… They are basically rioting. Storming against, and harming federal employees. Their actions could have started a riot inside of the detention center. They potentially endangered many lives, including their own. They had been told that if they want to see inside, all they have to do is make an appointment. You, as an attorney, would have to abide by the rules of any detention center or prison. But because their politicians, along with their staff and media… They can do behave violently? Obviously, they have found at least one judge in New Jersey, that will uphold the law. And as these politicians are so fond of saying… NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!

So: When some of you folks are slamming the Attorney General, or the FBI Director, etcetera, please remember this. The entire American judicial system is tilted in favor of the accused, who is always “presumed innocent.”
This can give the mistaken impression that “law enforcement officials are not doing anything.” Simply because they are not allowed to tell you anything about what they may be doing. Until the indictment is handed down. They might speak in terms of general department priorities, but they cannot even suggest specifics.
