You’re only playing one side of the record here. Russia has their issues and were just attacked quite openly and deep into their country by UKR and friends. The history of this war goes back a long way and Russia is not the guilty one in every aspect of it. Get the facts out there.
Putin has my full respect as a clear, and strong leader for his people, culture, and faith. He has modernized Russia, and in the years to come it will be interesting to see who will replace Russia as the bogey man of the world.

Talking to someone who has a student loan she’s been making payments on.
She was told she needed to switch the loan over to another servicer, which she did.
I guess this MOHELA is the US government. She had receiving bills and making payments to MOHELA.
Sometime after the election, she was notified that her loan was in forbearance and she stopped receiving bills.
Now she’s been notified that interest can still accrue while she’s in forbearance, which she did not ask for.
She tried to log into her account which she had to create when she switched to MOHELA. It wouldn’t work.
She called the toll free number. She finally got to speak to a human, who couldn’t help her (she just wants to start getting bills and making payments so as to quit accruing interest).
The woman transferred her to another number, with an average wait time of over two hours.
BTW I think all government sites use that “unusually high volume of calls” bs. They try to replace humans with automation to “save money” but then they just use the savings to pay for high salaries for patronage appointees.
You can’t email these places.
They just want to frustrate you and have you hang up.
This is outrageous! She might want to get a lawyer to write a letter… they cannot NOT send her a bill. Or contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (I think this is what they are supposedly for)… and last but not least, contact her congress person, senator and her State’s AG.

When I was in college I worked at Sallie Mae servicing student loans (in the 90’s) – my knowledge might be a bit out of date, but should still be somewhat applicable.
If she is in forbearance, she should be able to continue to make payments if she wants. I used to encourage borrowers to pay whatever interest they could when they requested a forbearance period, so that they wouldn’t have all of that interest capitalize at the end. She should call back and find out how to make a payment without a payment coupon, and find out how much interest is accruing monthly so she can pay at least that amount.
And I cannot imagine a loan going into forbearance without the borrower requesting/authorizing it, so she really should look into what happened there. A forbearance used to require a form signed by the borrower, so she should request a copy of the form that authorized the forbearance (not sure if this is still how they do it).
Once upon a time they used to do deferments for teachers who took jobs in certain school districts (think inner city/failing schools where they have a difficult time hiring teachers). Those would not defer interest, but after several years of teaching in those schools they would have their loans forgiven.
Is it possible she applied for some kind of loan forgiveness program like that, and this is part of that process?
In any case, the servicer should be happy to help her make payments on the loan, even if it is in forbearance. At the end of the day the goal should be to get the loan repaid.

No matter where you stand on the politics of Palantir’s plans to create this massive records repository, it is important to understand that it is absolutely certain to contain information the government is not legally allowed to maintain. Let me explain.
The Federal Records Act requires the government to divide all recorded agency information into two categories, “temporary” and “permanent”. By law, all temporary recorded information must be forensically destroyed at the end of an Archivist of the United States-approved retention period. Temporary agency records are preserved throughout their lifecycle at the agency in their native format and never transferred to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
Permanent recorded information are those records that the agency and NARA agree are of historically significant value. The law requires that these records are accessioned to NARA for permanent preservation at the end of their assigned retention period. And, in the case of electronic records, forensically destroyed at the agency after their transfer to NARA is complete.
The percentage of Federal records considered historically significant, and so, permanently preserved, is very small. By NARA’s own estimates it is less than three percent of all government recorded information. This means the vast majority of Federal records – analog and electronic – are destroyed at the end of their lifecycle.
But, as I have explained here frequently, the Obama administration dismantled the government’s entire records management program during his first term in office. This has resulted in 17-plus years of government bureaucrats remaining in control of countless petabytes of agency information that should have been defensibly destroyed years ago pursuant to the Federal Records Act, the Privacy Act, and countless other records management laws and regulations.
If this story is to be believed, and Palantir is indeed developing this repository of records on American citizens, a large portion of it – likely the majority – will be information the government has no legal right to possess.

Sorry if some people’s votes are canceled, but none should count if they are even one hour after midnight on Election Day showing up. One easy way to stop it is no more mail in ballots. Covid is long over and mail in voting should be too. Our ancestors never had these problems and in many places they traveled by horse and buggy to get to polling places and were happy to do it, while we have mass transit, walking distance polling places, fancy cars to get where we need to in order to cast a vote. Another way is going back to one day voting in person. We the people have let our election system be destroyed and few of us have tried to put it back together.
