We are in the geometric phase of out of control government spending. [we have been, especially since the Global Financial Crisis (sub-prime crash)]

If our government made a concerted effort to cut spending, sheep would cry in pain, and demand the government turn the printer back on.

My advice:
Save what you can.
Get and stay completely out of debt.

In my neck of the woods, we are anticipating an increase in gasoline taxes, Ol’ JB never met a tax he didn’t like. Cheap gas is still $3.59 a gallon for regular.

What are the consequences of the system crashing when you owe $30,000 in debt or zero? I don’t understand. You won’t be able to buy anything when the systems are down because there won’t be anything to buy, even with cash, (which you are not allowed to use anyway). If the population is dying and dwindling and companies are off loading useless workers, why are prices continuing to rise? Less product and less consumers and less employees should result in less money to operate a smaller company yet costs for services are always rising. Car insurance, for instance. Isn’t there a limit? When you do not have the money to make good on claims then don’t you need to limit new customers, according to the actuarial statistics? But they don’t. They just keep raising the prices for all the customers for insurance. We are financing our own car repairs and giving insurance companies billions in profits. My insurance premium is getting to where it is almost the cost of my car payment. Yet, the state requires full insurance to drive it (under loan). I never had an accident and I am 70.

There is zero chance that the system will be allowed to “crash”. They already have plans to switch to a new e-credit. hard currency will be phased out. The old dollar will be re-valued with the new e-dollar. Any transaction that does not wish to use e-credits will have to be for barter or an alternative underground “currency”. Eventually there will be a global e-currency that will replace all others.

I agree with most of that, however I’m not sure how getting completely out of debt will provide any advantage. If money’s not going to be worth anything in the future it seems like it would be more prudent to accumulate all the stuff that you’ll need right now while the money still has some value, even if you need borrow heavily to do so.
If the total collapse happens they won’t be coming to repossess your furniture, food, tools, firearms, etc. They will certainly try to take your car and home so it might be advantageous to be “debt free” on those things. But the price of gas (if available) would likely be astronomical so you won’t be able to drive the car that you own, and you never really own your home anyway (property taxes) so what’s the point of being totally “debt free?”
Of course if the collapse doesn’t happen then you’re stuck with all that debt.

A phenomenon has been existing in this country, a display of loyalty and faith and hope which I have never ever seen before, and which has not been sufficiently appreciated.
For over 8 years now, many people persisted in flying or displaying TRUMP flags, banners, signs, bumper stickers, etc. on their properties or businesses or cars.
This did not happen for any candidate or president in the past, not even for Ronald Reagan.
e.g. I recall driving past a small farmhouse on an isolated road in southeastern Ohio, a road which could not have had more than 5 or 10 cars a day on it!
But By Gum, there was a hand-painted sign at the gate, during the darkest days of the wreckage of The Manchurian Marionette in late 2022, saying “TRUMP IS THE PRESIDENT!”
The hand-made signs are always the most poignant, especially when they are in the yards of people who are obviously on the poverty line, just barely making their way economically through life.
We recently passed through a good section of eastern Indiana and eastern West Virginia, and this phenomenon is visible there as well!

I see this sentiment a lot here lately. Over and over and over again. Each time someone points out that this cannot be included in a reconciliation bill, but inevitably the post gets made again. There should be no SALT deduction at all. Let each state and locality tax their residents however they want to pay for whatever degree of socialism they desire to have. But no SALT deduction, because to have one simply shifts some of the costs of their socialism to residents of other states. Let each state and locality fully compete with every other state and locality by paying for their own desired degree of social spending. When businesses and residents start moving away because of their high taxes (they already have been), then they will see the true effect of their policies. There should be no federal SALT deduction at all.
And sorry, but I don’t buy the myth that some people in blue states like to push that those in red states are somehow less productive and overly benefit from the high taxes people in blue states pay, and that their greater productivity deserves a high SALT deduction. I doubt it was ever true, but it certainly is not true today.

I’m sure this administration was fully aware of Robinson’s imprisonment and the reason for it. Witness VP Vance’s EU speech in Germany and the follow-up finger wagging to Starmer’s face in the WH. I am thinking this rebuke was not without purpose.
And thus my hope that Robinson’s strangely timed release is not unconnected to the inking of the trade deal between the two countries. If Connolly is released in the near term (on the QT mind so as to avoid the massive celebrations which would naturally follow, thus cementing former Chief Prosecutor Starmer and his government as the fascistic despots they are), my suspicions that the deal was contingent in part upon quietly arranged concessions will be firmer. It is my understanding that Tina Peters broke the law to preserve data that she knew was being deleted illegally. It is not a cut and dry “she broke the law, so needs to rot in prison” case.
The people responsible for ordering the illegal deletion of the voter data should be investigated and have charges brought against them.
The fact that they haven’t been so far is evidence of corruption within the highest offices of Colorado.
Anyone who would risk prosecution and delete data that is protected by both State and Federal laws is doing this act for a reason. IMO, that reason would likely to cover up election fraud. I cannot think of any other reason.

“Regular readers know that, late last year, my firm filed a lawsuit against the 2005 PREP Act, which is the federal law that immunizes from legal liability vaccine manufacturers (along with doctors, hospitals, and a vast army of other miscreants), for injuries caused by “safe and effective” (but also defective) vaccines and other pandemic treatments.
The short statute replaces injured Americans’ common-law legal claims with a black box process called the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) that, in archaic legal terms, is called “a bad joke.”
Our lawsuit seeks to declare the PREP Act unconstitutional under six main theories.

“Of all the plaintiffs’ counts, I think their substantive due process argument could survive,” the judge told the DOJ lawyer, as though it was a stray random thought. It changed everything.
Substantive due process” (SDP) is an amorphous, jello-like, hard-to-pin-down concept that some rights are so fundamental —like the right to raise your children, make personal medical decisions, or marry the person you choose— that the government can’t take them away, even if it follows all the right procedures, and even if those rights aren’t expressly addressed in the Constitution.
SDP is not just about how the government acts, but what it tries to do. If the law crosses a certain line —by being deeply unfair or violating a fundamental liberty— the Constitution says that’s not allowed, no matter how neatly the government checked the boxes.
SDP claims are among the hardest to win. Courts give the government wide latitude to regulate, especially in areas like public health, safety, and morals.
To succeed, a claimant must prove that the government’s action is not just mistaken or harsh, but so extreme and so unjustified that it “shocks the conscience” —a legal standard so high it takes special NASA telescopes to find it on dark nights.
Unless a law unconstitutionally targets a fundamental right —and courts stingily recognize very few of them— judges will almost always defer to the government’s reasoning, so long as it clings to even a scrap of rationality, and even if it’s flimsy or paternalistic.
But when the court allows a fundamental right is implicated, the government finds itself on brittle ice.
Well-known SDP cases include Roe v. Wade, Lawrence v. Texas (a 2003 decision that struck down the Lone Star State’s anti-sodomy laws), and Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage.
Judge Young pointed out to the government that we’d cited a couple of cases where the Supreme Court had mused that there might be an outer limit to the same thing the government did in the PREP Act.
One older Supreme Court case, in a concurrence, remarked offhand that it remains unsettled law whether the government can abolish common-law lawsuits without providing a meaningful alternative. Judge Young told the government’s lawyer that offhand comment seems to be a narrow crack that our substantive due process might, if proven, shine through.
It hit the courtroom like a sledgehammer. But the judge wasn’t finished. “I’m not saying this is true,” he explained, “but the plaintiffs have alleged that the PREP Act’s replacement process, the CICP is, well, absurd.” I think he might have even laughed aloud when he said absurd. He could have left it there. But then, as though driven by personal curiosity, he asked a biting follow-up question: “does the government think the CICP process is sufficient?”
The DOJ lawyer did his best to change the subject, trying to re-route the question back to safer ground about standing, the government’s cherished abolisher of claims. But the point held.

“The CMV Mod Team needs to inform the CMV community about an unauthorized experiment conducted by researchers from the University of Zurich on CMV users,” the subreddit’s moderators wrote in a lengthy post notifying Redditors about the research. “This experiment deployed AI-generated comments to study how AI could be used to change views.”

and have no problem with it. It’s some reasonable counterpoints. Why they thought they needed to hide that this was AI sourced is beyond me.
The BIG problem with AI is that it uses human generated materials which in many areas are biased for various reasons. If people take that output as ULTIMATELY authoritative, that’s a big problem. Another pending problem seen by AI programmers is AI using an increasing amount AI products as their source.
