I have coworkers trying to tell me how great socialized medicine is. My coworkers are not very bright people, suffice it to say.
Unbelievable. One source I read said, “In 2023, MAiD accounted for 4.1% of deaths in Canada, with 13,241 cases reported.” Now they are “extending” this “service” to children, and after evaluation by “professionals” it can be “offered” to them without requiring parental consent.
Euthanasia is against my oath to God when I became a physician. I am a Hospice physician in addition to primary care. Not legal in my state. I would assume this is for children with terminal illness, but if it is not — that this would be written up all professional in a glossy tri-fold literally nauseates me.
Physicians have been so abused and weakened that I am no longer amazed there is not an outcry among them on this. There would have been an immediate revolt at the concept in the 1990’s

Call me stupid if you want, but I am okay. The BBB preserves the earlier tax cut; no tax on tips; and some other minor improvements.
Speaking for myself, I had no expectation of a massive reform less than 6 months into his presidency. The Congress is divided and still eager to impeach him for any reason.
The BBB buys another 12 month of status quo, which is still better than a Harris presidency. It is unrealistic to suggest that Trump can turn this boat around in less than 6 months.
For every one of those fools who heckled Dr. Bhattacharya or stomped out in a snit there are a hundred thousand of us out here who approve of and deeply appreciate what he’s doing.

Seriously I wanted a true budget, no more CR’s, yet THIS is a disaster. The CONgress isn’t helping, given the push for SALT deductions out the wazoo. Yet as bad as those are, they only lightly dent this gross boondoggle. Where are the cuts across the board? Cuts to defense (nope, big increase)?
I could lament and blast CONgress a lot more if President Trump’s original budget proposal was a lean mean deficit reducing machine that got porked to death n committee. But it came in bloated and obscene, with tons of spending just as the other side would have done, with slightly better distribution for the right causes. But WE CANNOT AFFORD THIS!
I’m very worried about it; while I think it’s vitally important to get the temporary Trump tax cuts finalized, I can see a scenario in which things we don’t like or need, and which DOGE has determined to be sheer corruption or fraud or waste, get codified.
Then President Trump will be sued, over and over and over again, in order to insist that he continue funding what we all know to be somebody’s grift. Because, you know, it’s the law.
I feel strongly that everyone in Congress needs to read the actual responsibilities of the federal government, and those things specifically proscribed. Or maybe have Mark Levin or other constitutionalist do a show and tell type lesson, with graphics for the Maxine Waters types.

You can’t castigate a prior administration for something and then go out and do more of the same. Trump did not corral deficits in his first admin and apparently not this time around. I know, I know, it is the job of Congress to pass spending bills but Trump is encouraging this.
Yes, it’s a concern. I’m sure that’s why deep state engineered a 2-3 vote margin in both houses. They have him by the short hairs and he gets the blame. Hopefully something can happen before November 2026. Maybe the 250th in July will give folks some ra ra and that carry over to November to improve the margin……hopefully.

I’m also perplexed by the PDJT original budget proposal. Perhaps PDJT fears the usual off-election fate of losing the 2026 house and senate GOPe majorities if too much stress is put on the existing economy? However, I don’t think scaling back and then substantially eliminating the hundreds of billion$ headed for ‘save the planet’ programs would lose voters who populate these programs for employment while they work to ‘get out the dem vote’ vote. It would “unemploy” lots of ‘progressive’ scammers and university ‘scholars’ who would never vote GOP, but now have ‘understanding’ employment with plenty of time to ‘organize’ the dem vote machines. Likewise, escalating the SALT deduction to a major amount ($40K-$80K) will not gain votes for GOPe or GOP congresscritters in blue states, but will likely lose votes in red states for subsidizing dem state taxes.
And not eliminating DOGE-identified actual waste and abuse is inexplicable.
PDjt may have an expectation that tariffs may become a major surprise revenue source, but congresscritters can stop that.
PDJT has reportedly gained more control of GOPe campaign financing (having ~$400million in the till), and will possibly be active in better new candidate promotion in the primaries to remove some uncooperative/corrupt/lobbyist-owned GOPe. If so, there cold be a budget ‘re-do” in his last 2 years.
Perhaps PDJT believes that to restore competitiveness of US industry to become onshored and self-sufficient, it will be necessary to substantially reduce the value of the dollar, and reduce financialization as our major workproduct. So our smartest people go back to STEM and other productive activities, rather than banking/currency-manipulation/complicated stock schemes, etc.

New York, where I live, has actually been transitioning over the last 5 years or so from blue to red, and it’s finally hit the cities as well as the suburban and rural areas, so it’s no surprise that the race is in play. Of course, NY democrats practically invented election fraud, going back to Tammany Hall, so it’s still unlikely Stefanik will win, just due to that.
Your screen name is “CalCon,” so I’m going to make an assumption (which may be wrong) that you’re from California? If that’s true, I would suggest that you’re a resident of the most Communist state in America, and that maybe your energies would be better directed at confronting your own totalitarian state, rather than disparaging residents of a state (which you clearly know nothing about) that are actually making progress out of the communist mire.
I’m watching the House Rules Committee trying to wrap on the final Management Memorandum for the BBB, and the Dems are offering a seemingly endless series of amendments, all of which are being voted down by an 8-4 margin and followed by a roll call of the vote.
This activity is, effectively, a filibuster, IMO.
Is there a Congressional parliamentary or Rules committee time limit for presentation of amendments, or can this proceed indefinitely?
Moreover, I have been following the committee proceeding since its inception this morning, and I have never witnessed in my recent memory the Dems’ unabashed, visceral, and shameless lying. They represent themselves as vile people.
I’m changing the channel to Stanley Cup hockey, and refreshing my serving of Jack Daniels, 😃 , and I’ll wait to hear that the committee foolishness is over.
