Ancillary to the takeover of the Columbia University library ¹yesterday that led to the subsequent arrest of dozens of campus chaos agents, Acting Columbia University President Claire Shipman has announced a decision to terminate 180 paid research staff.
The termination of employment comes as a result of the Trump administration withdrawing funding for the University.

Instead of using their endowment to retain staff, the University terminates them.
¹Additionally, it is now being reported that Columbia University leadership knew in advance of the pro-Hamas protest group that planned to take over the school library. The University chose to allow the confrontation on campus that ended with the arrest of the group.

Yes. Administrative to professor salary ratio has risen by about 240% in the last 20 years. That change is the problem.
At Columbia out of $1,400,000,000 in federal research grants, only $400,000,000 went to actual research and $1,000,000,000 went to the administration, which is more like 70% going to Administration. Columbia has a student to administration ratio of around 3:1.
Just this past 5 May NSF has announced that the indirect rate on all new grants won’t exceed 15%

Cancer research & treatment are mostly a scam. May be the medical industry’s largest and most profitable scam.
Fenbendazole & Ivermectin have worked “miracles” with cancer patients but that information gets zero press in the legacy media and active suppression by Big Medical & Big Pharma.
Let Big Med / Big Pharma pay for the research since they’re the ones who profit from all the ineffective treatment scams.
I have ben saying that for longer than I can remember. Cancer is an industry. I am sure that there have been many things discovered that have been more or less successful in improving people who have the cancer but as you say, they have been hushed. The Cancer industry is almost as large as the Automobile Industry. If a cure were found, thousands if not millions would be unemployed and drug companies as well as medical equipment manufactures would be out of business. Also too would be outfits such as United Way would vaporize. What has United Way Ever done to reduce cancer or for that matter The American Cancer Society. They just provide people with jobs. Yes. From what I’ve read over several decades it appears that Some people were killed because they discovered low cost or very effective cures or they discovered the truth about the mostly-ineffective chemo game used to take in $billion$ from desperate families.
But there’s been too much exposure of the off-label use of fenbendazole and ivermectin (both are anti-parasitic medications) to cover up targeted hits on those who publicize the positive benefits of these two medications.. There are too many alert and aware people on the Internet now who would instantly recognize the pattern of deaths if publicly well-known personalities were suddenly dying in accidents or suicides or whatever after they’ve published these positive benefits against cancer by using those anti-parasitic medications.
In the early 2000’s, as an ivy-landgrant research institution fundraised $4 billion for its endowment, in support of a Life Sciences Initiative, construction of an investment banker endowed life sciences BSL/TMF building, & a B&MG endowed computing building, facility & administration DEI trainers built additions on their personal properties w/university resources.
One, not only built a training facility, but also directed the organization training contracts to her husband’s buisiness.
This had the full knowledge & approval of the university VP/CFO.
Fauci attended the dedication of the life sciences building, & the institution has a medical school in Qatar.
The president hired during the LSI campaign, resigned shortly after hire. Took a position at a Chinese university, as a Friendship Award winner, and 1000 Talent.
Ballpark salary ($80k) + benefits ($20k) x 180 positions = $18,000,000 per year.
And $80k is a conservative estimate for what those positions pay.
That is only 20% of the people supported by those grants, per their release quoted above. So there is another $72,000,000 in salaries and bennies remaining of people who were supported by the now-terminated grants. Somewhere there is a big overhead slush fund which an quietly absorb the extra $72,000,000 per year !

I used to write contracts with state of California universities also Nevada and a few other states. One of the things that I always found difficult to understand is sometimes we would write several contracts for the exact same work but at different locations along a river. Each and every line item budget from the university for each contract required X amount of new computers. How many new computers does one university need for one department to make certain water, chemical analysis and various other determinations and measurements at different points along a river.?
I could never understand why we wrote so many different contracts for the exact same work; maybe to justify hiring more Principal Investigators? .Why not just combine them all into one.?
Maybe it had something to do with a percentage of the overhead coming off of each and every contract. It just seemed ridiculous to me and a total waste of taxpayer money.

My DIL, a rabid leftie who works in university administration in GA, was lamenting the possible reduction in federal grant money available for her “student scholars.” I told her that as long as they are researching something useful rather than something stupid, they should be fine. That did not give her comfort. I guess her students aren’t researching anything useful.

The woke agenda is being made to serve many interests but part of it is destroying and consolidating tech.
The biggest threat to big tech is open source. In recent years, a new programming language has been created and is currently still under development. That language is called “Rust.” The name is appropriate because it is, in fact, corrosive. Its biggest claim to fame is “memory safety” which means its intended to prevent people from writing code which can be exploited. So far, it hasn’t been successful but they keep pushing it. But why? Their intentions, at this very moment, is to replace and rewrite the Linux kernel and all of the surrounding utilities and applications in this C-like language, “Rust.” But why? If the language isn’t even complete? Doesn’t yet live up to its purpose? The answer is LICENSING.
The GPL is a business “unfriendly” license because it is designed in such a way that if a business adds to the project, they have to publish their source code. Other open source licenses (like BSD) do not require this. The creator of the GPL (Richard Stallman) has been under political attacks the same as we see with other “unfavored public figures” with sexual allegations and all the rest. MacOSX is based on BSD Unix and this allows Apple to capture that development and add to it for their own private interests. It wouldn’t be possible if they used Linux.
“Rust” coders are wokesters of course because they can be manipulated to betray the GPL without a thought… a signature trait of being woke…. doing things without a thought. But it gets worse. Whole Linux projects have been captured by the woke agenda. They implement DEI and “codes of conduct” as a way to eject anyone who isn’t woke.
ALL of this is happening at the same exact time as corporations around the world are doing that EXACT same things.
But we now know the US government has been funding and directing these things to happen. And this absolutely removes the power of the people with their free and open source software because it’s harder to spy on or to inject fake criminal evidence against people. (If you run Windows and are a public figure opposed by government or shadow-government interests, you’re begging to be compromised. MS Windows is constantly being updated at the requests of government mostly to close old holes and to open new ones! If you are a political target like Sundance and you are running MS Windows or even MacOS, they can compromise your machine, upload illegal data, set file creation dates to “prove” you have been using this illegal data (C-pr0n!) for a very long time and then RAID your location(s) before you even knew what they have done.
Free/Open source software with GPL licensing is probably the most safe way to compute today and even then the biggest projects are being compromised — Mozilla (firefox) is a big problem now as are many other captured projects. But alternatives continue to spring up and get forked.
When they control the tech, they control everything because everything now depends on it. Even your cars.
Our constitutional liberties are the most important foundation, but if all of the means of communications and of doing business are controlled and eventually priced as a subscription service complete with “you cannot disagree with our agenda or we shut you down” agreements are CONTROLLED by the big tech oligarchy, then it almost doesn’t matter what our government is like any more.
If the only think you know about is what the US intelligence has been doing to corrupt our government, it’s definitely bad enough. But when you see what else is going on in parallel at the same time? You begin to see an incredible effort.

Why should a “researcher” funded by taxpayers, some working in low wage jobs, be able to patent anything. Perhaps a Government award for some notable discovery like the Nobel prizes would be in order. Look at Fauci a prime example.
I have a patent; however my employer holds the patent rights. I suspect it may be similar at Columbia and other universities.
Little known fact: Patents are awarded to individuals — not to corporations.
