The Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) has released the jobs and employment data for April [SEE HERE]. Within the data we see 177,000 jobs were gained, beating expectations of 133,000. The unemployment rate remains unchanged at 4.2%.
Federal government employment declined by 9,000 in April [BLS, Table B-1] Health care added 51,000 jobs: consisting of hospitals (+22,000) and ambulatory health care services (+21,000). Transportation and warehousing increased by 29,000 jobs in April: with warehousing and storage (+10,000), couriers and messengers (+8,000), and air transportation (+3,000).

(Via Wall Street Journal) – The U.S. economy continued to add jobs at a steady clip in April, although the pace of gains slowed slightly during a month that saw changing tariff announcements and market turmoil.
The U.S. added 177,000 jobs in April, the Labor Department reported Friday, above the gain of 133,000 jobs economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had expected to see.
The unemployment rate, which is based on a separate survey from the jobs figures, held steady at 4.2%.
The jobs number was less than the 185,000 jobs added in March. The job gains for February and March were revised down by a combined 58,000 jobs.
Federal-government layoffs were a drag on payrolls. Federal government employment declined by 9,000 in April.
Stocks opened higher. All three major U.S. indexes were up 1% or more in early trading. (more)

Must end foreign worker Visa’s as well as add penalties for any company that off/reshores American jobs. I haven’t heard the Trump administration discuss this at all and it is rampant. I am overwhelmed that we are moving in the right direction but we need to ensure that many of these jobs are actually going to US workers. We need ZERO immigrants in our workforce. Too many people are unemployed. Those number I don’t believe reflect people who have left the workforce or those who are underemployed. Until we rid our country of foreign workers we will continue to have Americans unemployed…

They’ve outsourced so many of of our jobs to offshore contractors both IT and customer service to offshore call centers.
They have not direct hired in nearly two years for online order customer service
My husband is in IT and can’t find a job for 14 months…Masters in Engineering and 20+ years Software engineering…most jobs are offshored or given to H1B’s or now the entire industry is Indian nationals who only hire their own…the entire IT industry is gone in the US….what isn’t gone is offshored…other industries are quickly being offshored…I just don’t understand why we don’t ever hear from this administration anything about this…these numbers need to be broken down to US and foreign born workers…personally I know quite a few unemployed people (husband included) and no one sees any uptick in the job market yet
Yes to this. My wife was canned after 27 years at her company. Sent her job to someone in Argentina. This needs to end or be very costly to any company that wants to offshore jobs.
Argentina is the new India I believe…a bunch of recruiters for a large public accounting firm were let go to have the entire team “offshored” to Argentina…like your wife..27 years..unbelievable..why aren’t we hearing ANYTHING from this administration about this????
That’s going to have to happen in the last year of Trump 2.0. Gotta scale back the H1-B, and all of the other alphabet visa soup loopholes. The TechBros will hate it along with the Fortune 500 companies as they’ve pretty much outsourced their accounting and customer service divisions to H1-B companies like Tata, Satyam, and Infosys. There’s very few openings for new grads in Accounting or Computer Science, so they don’t get jobs that pay enough to buy houses or start families. I had to scream at an Indian Tech Support person from my ISP because they kept on trying to cancel my onsite service appointment to save the company a couple of bucks. Turned out, I REALLY needed that technician to come out to fix my fiber optic wall receptacle.

Keep in mind that the Federal Courts over the past 3 months has put 10,000’s of Federal Workers, originally removed from the pay rolls of shuttered agencies in LIMBO but ordering their reinstatement or not allowing their removal.

The jobs report is based largely on formulas, estimations and extrapolations plus the people who run the BLS are diehard Democrat Leftists of the worst kind. Always have been and from the looks of things are deeply imbedded in the agency. Every month they revise the previous months jobs numbers. Last week ADP issued it’s April jobs report and it showed that new jobs plunged so I wouldn’t read anything into the BLS report. Also, the BLS knows that President Trump wants a big interest rate cut by Jerome Powell and a bad jobs report would help President Trump get that so why would BLS help him? By the way, Biden’s people are still in charge there!
What’s even better is that jobs for American citizens increased and jobs for foreign born workers decreased. It was the opposite many months under Biden.

I have a grandbaby and a niece graduating high school this year. I finally have sincere belief they both can find good entry-level jobs, where they can learn and grow in the work world, as neither has any desire to attend college whatsoever.
I don’t think learning a trade and or getting an associates degree from a county college at night is not a bad route either. I know a few who did that.

The old notion that one must complete higher education to obtain a good-paying job is a relic of the past. In fact, many of these trade positions offer excellent first-year pay compared to entry-level corporate jobs. Additionally, these are jobs that likely cannot be replaced with AI. There will always be a need for plumbers, electricians, welders, etc. Higher education is unnecessary for most fields, and reframing education as an opportunity to learn directly from those in the field is an excellent way to educate the next generation of workers, albeit at the detriment of universities.

Per ZH, there has been a very considerable change in jobs for citizens versus illegals as well. During Brandon’s Autopen rule, the majority of new jobs went to illegals and H1B visa workers, with American citizens suffering a net LOSS in jobs. That has now turned around, just as it did before when PDJT was in the WH.
