Although they won’t be able to avoid the increase in the prices they offer, devaluation of the RMB will help and small sellers could simply create and join a large collective and bulk ship directly to Amazon warehouses for their sales to be fulfilled by Amazon. However, that will also add to their prices the amount required by Amazon for that fulfillment service.
Also, expect tariff avoidance via shipments from, for example, Vietnam with the warehouse in Vietnam taking a cut of, say, 10%.

Wang called President Trump’s tariff war a “truly an unprecedented blow.”
Reuters spoke with other sellers about the turmoil unfolding in China:
Of the five sellers who spoke to Reuters, three said they would look to raise prices for their exports to the U.S., while two planned to leave the market entirely.
Dave Fong, whose products range from schoolbags to Bluetooth speakers, said on Thursday he has raised prices in the U.S. by up to 30% and would let inventory levels fall and lower spending on Amazon advertising fees, which once took up 40% of his U.S. revenue.
“For us and anyone else, you can’t rely on the U.S. market, that’s quite clear,” Fong said. “We have to reduce investment, and put more resources into regions like Europe, Canada, Mexico and the rest of the world.”
On Wednesday, word spread that a document viewed by Bloomberg specified that Amazon reduced its exposure by slashing shipments of Chinese products.
Brian Miller, who has sold on Amazon from China for seven years, told Reuters, “I don’t see a scenario, if things don’t change, that serving the U.S. from China is viable anymore and manufacturing that serves the U.S. will have to be transferred to other countries like Vietnam, or Mexico.”

There was massive unemployment insurance fraud during covid. People had benefits being applied for in states they didn’t live in.
The thing was, the entity committing the mass fraud was not going to be able to collect, as they used a real person’s name and address, and any benefits paid would go to that person.
My theory is that China may have been doing this just to destabilize our governments.
Are unemployment insurance benefits paid by paper checks or direct deposit?
For the payments by paper checks, how many went to post office or mailbox store mailboxes?
I believe that depends on the state, but IIRC the fraud was being caught before any checks went out.

She said the state is finding instances in which a person receives a notice of potential benefits in the mail, but through identification verification, the state can determine it was a fraudulent request.
According to Cubbage, more than 68,000 emails have been sent out to people letting them know their claims cannot be processed because the state can’t verify identifications. She said in some instances, it’s because claimants haven’t uploaded necessary documents.
For actual claimants who receive emails letting them know their claims can’t be processed, Cubbage said they should follow the appeals deadlines in the document. Claimants can then file an appeal and get their identities verified.
Other people who receive fraudulent filings can email [email protected] to let the state know that a claim was fraudulently filed under their name. The system will then mark that down as fraudulent.

Many of these DOGE claims are straight forward crimes. If DOGE is following the money then they know what bank accounts the money was deposited into and they can easily find out who set up these accounts and who withdrew the cash. Maybe not in all cases, but certainly in some cases it would be pretty simple to collect the evidence needed to charge someone with a crime.
I’m calling bullshit on all DOGE claims unless someone is actually indicted for fraud. Musk claims the looting of the US Govt is the greatest financial crime of all time but no one has been indicted. No one has referred these cases for criminal investigation – if they had the DOJ would have told these district court judges that they are collecting evidence of a serious crime. So I am starting to doubt anything DOGE says is true.
It’s pretty simple – either do something about the fraud or shut up. If you find fraud and do nothing about it then you are just as bad as the criminals committing the fraud. Put up, or shut up.
Please cut Pam Bondi some slack on these mundane indictments for defrauding the US Citizens…

History has shown that England (e.g.) free-traded itself into dependency and mediocrity, which was exacerbated by its adoption of Socialism/Communism in the later 1800’s and down to this day, with the bit of positive indigestion caused by Margaret Thatcher, 40 years ago.
Despite that example and all the negatives surrounding England and its free-trade Socialism, which served only the people involved in ruining domestic industries so that their international investments could prosper, a combination of intellectual arthritis began to infect America c. 1914, along with economic rheumatism from the Socialist New Deal and then spiritual catatonia with The Great Society of the 1960’s.
This allowed the free-traders – helped by idiotic unions and a lack of imagination in industry – to start sending jobs abroad in the 1970’s.
I still recall reading in the 1970’s how the Japanese were buying American iron ore from Michigan, shipping it to Japan, and then returning it as cars and appliances and I-beams for prices cheaper than American-made!
Something was severely wrong there: rather than saying “How do we fix this and become competitive again?” the powers-that-were (i.e. corrupt politicians and industrialists) decided to see how they could invest in those Japanese companies and start sending more raw materials and production to other cheaper countries.
Thus began the “Globalization” narrative at the same time as “The Service Economy” narrative, reaching its worst height and most sneeringly arrogant height with MAObama’s infamous statement that…
“Those jobs are never coming back!”
MAObama, of course, WANTED America to be destroyed, while he profited from its destruction, like a scrap-metal dealer drooling over a bombed out city in Yugoslavia in the 1990’s!
I want MAObama’s face and his snooty, upturned nose rubbed into his own excrement-filled statement through MAGA policies, i.e. by the return of manufacturing employment, by the return of factories of production and of domestic energy production, and by the return of American raw materials being used in those factories to produce a Golden Age by 2030!
I want to see diligence, creativity, and persistence returned to the schools, so that future generations can produce their versions of The Wright Brothers, of Thomas Edison, of Henry Ford, and all the other great American scientists and inventors of the past.

When they were rebuilt, they were rebuilt with modern machinery running inside the new factories. How to Spot Made in the USA

Made in America vs. Made in the USA
First and foremost – look for products that say “made in the USA” on their product packaging, website, or other marketing materials. The key part of that phrase: USA. What most people don’t know is that the phrase “made in America” can also be used for Canada and Mexico because of our free trade agreement (NAFTA) with those two countries.
Verbs
Look at the verbs the company uses in its American-made claims. Are they saying “made” or “assembled”? The word “made” typically encompasses both raw materials and processing. “Assembled” typically means that the company’s production process is U.S.-based, but its materials and parts are obtained overseas. In some industries, this can mean a lack of quality or, even worse, health risks.
Modifiers
Often, companies may add modifiers to their made in USA claims because they cannot fully justify only saying “made in the USA.” This is a tip-off that potentially a good chunk of their production process is performed elsewhere, whether in labor or materials.
This example below from DeWalt is a good one – they say “made in the USA with global materials,” tipping us off that they are not sourcing the parts for their tools in the U.S.:

One note to this….the most scary thing to me is that many of the foods that you buy and enjoy are actually largely made in China. Heinz Ketchup, Rao’s Spaghetti sauce, Contadina tomato paste are examples of the brands that are largely made in China with GMO tomatoes – even organic ones – and almost all of them have added ingredients that may or may not be listed.
This is done under the law that allows manufacturers of food products to skip listing the source of the ingredients in food.
So, there is research online to try to find which companies and which products include Chinese ingredients.

A policy to enact mass deportations goes into effect this Friday. And I haven’t seen anyone put the pieces together on it yet.
First, the DHS is now going to be enforcing an existing law from 1996. This will place fines of up to $998 every day that an illegal immigrant refuses to leave the United States. Authorities can seize the assets of illegal immigrants to recoup those costs even retroactively.
Technically, this uses United States Code, 1324d. “Civil penalties for failure to depart.” But they’re updating it.

Well, that ties into another tool that has now been launched…[which will probably be overwhelmed by intentionally phony tips – W] The White House posted a tip line for ICE, where people can report illegal immigrants. The hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They also posted this on April 6. See the timing all lining up?
Attach legal documentation papers to anyone wiring money out of the country would be a good start. No legal papers, then no wiring money. And if an American gets caught facilitating this, throw them in jail.

Here’s the gaping loophole that I found YEARS ago that protects employers from prosecution by being able to plead ignorance and illegal aliens from discovery via their fraudulent documents when they apply for a job. It says that CONFIRMING the validity of an alien’s documentation and, thereby, catching fraudulent documentation is VERBOTEN! This is actually indented in the code, probably so employers don’t miss it:

The Justice Department announced that it has secured a settlement agreement with Navajo Express, a Colorado-based trucking company that operates nationwide. The settlement resolves the department’s determination that Navajo Express violated the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) by discriminating against non-U.S. citizen workers when checking their permission to work in the United States.
“When employers reject workers’ valid documentation [NO, appears on its face to be genuine – W] proving their permission to work and demand other types of documentation, they construct unnecessary hurdles that can mean the difference between a worker getting a job or not,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “The Justice Department will continue to hold employers accountable for discriminating against workers because of citizenship, immigration status or national origin.”
In other words, checking that the APPEARS to be valid documentation which COULD be fraudulent IS in fact NOT fraudulent is VERBOTEN! In other words, “two forms of ID” is NOT permissible to request from aliens, just from YOU.
BTW, WHO is the only person responsible for changing that code if it isn’t effective? From that code:
(1)(A) The PRESIDENT shall provide for the monitoring and evaluation of the degree to which the employment verification system established under subsection (b) provides a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States and shall examine the suitability of existing Federal and State identification systems for use for this purpose.
(1)(B) To the extent that the system established under subsection (b) is found not to be a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States, the PRESIDENT shall, subject to paragraph (3) and taking into account the results of any demonstration projects conducted under paragraph (4), implement such changes in (including additions to) the requirements of subsection (b) as may be necessary to establish a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States.

You are right that the key is to remove the incentive, which means going after employers, which is to say businesses.
State Governments have absolute authority to decide who will, and will not be allowed to conduct business within their State, and to regulate such companies as they see fit.
State Governments issuse business licences, making it legal for them to collect sales tax. And States can revoke that licence, or impose fines.
Hence, if they had the WILL, State legislatures could write kegislation requiring every business licence holder to sunmit e-verify documents for every employee, every 3 months when they pay their collected taxes, and have such documentation on hand and available any time if requested.
With an appropriate fine schedule, for non-compliance.

The Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program was created to aid those who, through no fault of their own, can no longer work. According to the SSA’s own Office of the Inspector General (OIG), up to 60 percent of the award decisions made by ALJs are not supported by the evidence in the record. That is, they are legally indefensible.

The law in 1996 that states that overstaying a visa, or otherwise remaining the US after being ordered removed, carries a civil fine of $998 per day of non-compliance, with a statue of limitations of five years (which is common to many offenses.)
That’s a maximum (assuming five years) of $1,821,350 by the way, if you don’t have a calculator handy (365 x 5 x $998)

My BIL was visiting and while Republican, he is a never Trumper. It was an interesting extended weekend.
He would say to prove to him about the stolen election, illegals voting, “vaccine” injuries and so forth. I would point him to various sources and he would say they don’t come up in my Google search. I told him relying on Google to filter his information was exactly his problem.
Very interesting times. He did leave saying he didn’t realize how narrow his information stream was.
A long time ago google used to link to real factual news sources but not anymore . They never link to real factual news sources anymore they only link to mainstream media affiliated sources like the below .

I do think the Trump Administration is taking freedom of speech and religion very seriously. VP Vance ruffled feathers in Europe with comments he made in a speech and I believe President Trump commented on what is happening in the UK.

My .02. Don’t follow TGP and give the Trump administration a chance. Give them 6 months to prove themselves. After that, any criticism is fair game, imho. Everything and anything has to happen before mid-teems. Remember that. After mid-terms? Forget about it. You’ll seen all you’ve needed to see by then.
