The funny thing is that EU countries are viewing this statement from Germany as if it is a negative assertion against President Trump.
The German government, and newly elected German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, is warning its citizens that if they travel to the United States they should be careful not to break the law.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz warns travelers that violating U.S. law while President Trump is in office, might get them removed from the U.S. or lose their visa entry privilege.
BERLIN — The German government has sharpened its travel advice for the United States.
According to its website, Berlin’s Foreign Office now warns its citizens that tougher immigration enforcement under U.S. President Donald Trump could land travelers in detention or see them face deportation.
It updated the guidance after several German nationals were detained at U.S. entry points, some held for days before being sent back. Officials now explicitly warn that even minor infractions — such as overstaying a visa or misstating travel plans — could trigger immediate deportation or a ban on future entry. (read more)
This is a major story throughout the EU gaining widespread attention. Yet, to be brutally honest I thought it was a spoof article at first. Apparently, most Germans believed they could break the law in the USA without any consequence.
This feels like some kind of ‘winning’, but I’m not exactly sure how to define it. 😂

I thought German Chancellors had moved beyond oddly placed patches of hair?
Have they learned nothing?
Envision him in the Hugo Boss uniform with his hat under his arm – then the hair is not oddly placed whatsoever

I always knew my genetics would bring a degree of baldness.
I determined early on that I would in no fashion attempt to cling to it beyond it’s expiration date.
The moment my GI brethren started ribbing me about the little spot in the back being “combed over,” despite maintaining the same hair style, is when I began cutting it all off on the regular, not long before it became quite popular amongst the fairer toned folk, so I wasn’t stunning and brave all by myself for long!
Pops always said to me “son, if I could have your hair, I’d burn mine!”.. I have a full head of hair but it started going salt snd pepper in my 20s.. I have figured out people listen to you a bit more intently with a few greys..
“This gray hair don’t mean a thing.” ~George Jones
Jones’ last album to go Platinum was when he was in his 70’s-80’s.
not long before it became quite popular amongst the fairer toned folk
Going bald means you have a lot of male hormones. Trust me that is not a negative. It’s ok if they want to get hair plugs for vanity, but not necessary in my eyes.
When Chad Knaus got hair plugs it didn’t move my WOW at all. Loved him bald and loved him with plugs — nothing such a creature ever does could be uninteresting. I loved to watch the way he operated, at race track and on As the Wheel Turns. Dog-gone-it Makes my mouth water just to think about the way he walked. I can still imitate his hand signals and hear him yelling “go, go, go” to the 48.
Miss Vermont is the luckiest woman in the world imho. I’m not sure I should post this. I’m blushing.
Nope, they have not. They prefer treating ‘cancer’ with ‘painkillers.’
When my husband, of Polish and German descent, started losing his hair one of my sisters started calling him “Friar” and said he looked like Martin Luther.
Remember the thick ring of hair around all friar’s heads in the old movies?
Yeap, my husband quickly changed his “style,” too.
They call that a tonsure.
Not familiar with the etymology, but ja, not quite the modern cool guy look.
Wow !
I wouldn’t have even known the Friar Style Had a name !
You know A Lot of Different Things , Maquis !

Oh , and Maquis ,, when I tell my Sonnie some Obscure Factoid,
I always let him know I’m telling him just in case some day he ends up on Jeopardy 😄😜🤠
This is like the straight man in a comedy team setting up the other comedian for a joke. He just gave President Trump a huge opening for some hilarious trolling of Merz via Truth Social and X.
This could have been a Bee article. 😂😂😂
I bet the hole inside a donut this dude didn’t even write his speech.
I bet he didn’t win any election too, just another hack appt.
And I also doubt he runs a 400 billion dollar worth of businesses.
Wasn’t Fred Mertz a character on I Love Lucy?
Yes
FAFO Eurotrash.
Antifa sprang forth from german loins and apparently they have made the political chumminess with islamists and are ok with their citizens getting whacked by the stabbyfellers. Similar apparent track as the UK with a disarmed populace being surveiled for hostile response to islamization. Troops home, get us out of NATO, consider adding germany to list of hostile countries
Now that the EU is banning “hate” speech, taking away real citizen’s rights in favor of immigrants, canceling fair elections, banning conservative politicians from running in elections, and becoming tyrannical globalists. Perhaps they should all be labeled hostile.
Btw, shouldn’t all visitors to ANY foreign country follow the laws.
Touché Turtle! ⚔️
Maybe the Germans are getting back to a little common sense after seeing our awesome President in action?! Well one can wonder.
Touché Turtle was a funny cartoon back in the day. 60s I believe. 😁😎
Is HATE speech speech I hate, or is it speech YOU hate ?
I’m curious who decides. (sarc)
Merz is correct. Obey the laws in the U.S. or get the hell out.
Just as it once was in Germany, when people still loved their country.
My girlfriend lived in London for 10 years. During that time, there was an incident where a (black) British citizen tried to do an armed robbery in Texas and got shot and killed. This was big news in London at the time, and all of her British friends were appalled that a person might end up dead for attempting a violent felony.
She had to explain many times that while she wasn’t in favor of this young man’s death, at the same time, literally everyone in America understands that doing crime in Texas involves exactly this risk.
So, it isn’t just Germany.
John Locke, a 17th Century Englishman and political philosopher whose works were very familiar to our founders, though probably not to many modern-day Englishmen, had this to say in the 3rd Chapter of his “The Second Treatise of Government”:
“(H)e who attempts to get another man into his absolute power, does thereby put himself into a state of war with him; it being to be understood as a declaration of a design upon his life: for I have reason to conclude, that he who would get me into his power without my consent, would use me as he pleased when he had got me there, and destroy me too when he had a fancy to it; for nobody can desire to have me in his absolute power, unless it be to compel me by force to that which is against the right of my freedom, i.e. make me a slave. To be free from such force is the only security of my preservation; and reason bids me look on him, as an enemy to my preservation, who would take away that freedom which is the fence to it; so that he who makes an attempt to enslave me, thereby puts himself into a state of war with me. He that, in the state of nature, would take away the freedom that belongs to any one in that state, must necessarily be supposed to have a design to take away everything else, that freedom being the foundation of all the rest; as he that, in the state of society, would take away the freedom belonging to those of that society or commonwealth, must be supposed to design to take away from them everything else, and so be looked on as in a state of war.”
“This makes it lawful for a man to kill a thief, who has not in the least hurt him, nor declared any design upon his life, any farther than, by the use of force, so to get him in his power, as to take away his money, or what he pleases, from him; because using force, where he has no right, to get me into his power, let his pretense be what it will, I have no reason to suppose, that he, who would take away my liberty, would not, when he had me in his power, take away everything else. And therefore it is lawful for me to treat him as one who has put himself into a state of war with me, i.e. kill him if I can; for to that hazard does he justly expose himself, whoever introduces a state of war, and is aggressor in it.”
No one is getting shot for a violent theft, rape, assault, or arson in Germany.
Most of us think they SHOULD, but that ain’t Texas.
80-Year-Old Store Clerk Ready for Armed Robbers w/Shotgun
Armed man shot by 80-year-old California store owner with shotgun
California, but maybe the clerk is a Texas transplant
It was ARMED robbery so why wouldn’t he potentially end up dead? What do they do to armed criminals in London? Wave at them?
“Armed” is the key word here. Armed shows intend to kill if deemed necessary.
Kind of refreshing, and so unusual, to have anyone at all telling people who come to our country to stop breaking our laws! Usually, they just say, “America, bend over and take it!”
Speaking honestly, most travelers to the USA think just being here is as good as being born here. To the point of having an attitude of something akin to entitlement. At least that’s my experience.
Anchor Babies anyone?
Just come here on a ‘student visa’ from anywhere in the world and you can stay forever. Even go home, visit the relatives, come back and no one will ever check.
Student visas need to be scaled way back. The universities are complicit in the abuse. Cut it back to some vested national interest standard. Limit the number and types of students to a selected number of schools, as it exists there is no audit trail. The schools have a vested interest in fraud and abuse.
Its a hog trough, plus circumvention of immigrant visa numbers.
Mine too. Many Europeans have no real ‘boundaries’. I run into them ( literally) visiting our National Parks. They are disrespectful of the protected lands, of the infrastructure (literally bathing themselves in the sinks in the bathrooms), and of other visitors on the trails and in the campgrounds. On the trails they will not yield to oncoming hikers at all. They walk several abreast if they can and they do not stop or alter their configuration. After multiple years of this, my husband and I decided to play chicken. This resulted in being bumped into a lot but, dang, it was satisfying. They should all go home and stay there.
Oh. And I have an acquaintance who is a dual citizen : Germany and US. She is as ugly a leftist as they come and such a liar!
I commend your dissident spirit in waging justifiable conflict as a “trail bumper” when confronted by disrespectful EuroTrash who warrant it
I think Merz, and all the globalists of Europe for that matter, were scrambling to find some sort of warning about America to counter J.D. Vance’s warning to them about declining freedoms in their countries at the Munich Security Conference last month.
That this was the best they could come up with is pitiable but not surprising. Here’s Thomas Jefferson’s assessment of European governance during his stay in Paris: “…under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves & sheep. I do not exaggerate. this is a true picture of Europe.”
While we are on Germany, there is something about the idea of re-militarizing Germany that just makes me uncomfortable. Here we go all over again. We truly have learned NOTHING in the last 100 years. Oh, and that reminds me. While we are on Europe, the snotty French comments deserve a respons as well:
Trump Agrees To Give Back Statue Of Liberty In Exchange For All The Land In France We Liberated In WWII
https://babylonbee.com/news/trump-agrees-to-give-back-statue-of-liberty-in-exchange-for-all-the-land-in-france-we-liberated-in-ww2
Lesson we ought to have learned…is not to get entangled in European affairs, politics, and wars. THAT is the lesson we have failed to learn.
Instead, we are the “nice guy chump” – being eager to please Europeans that can never be pleased by those rubes across the Pond – a chump who felt it necessary to rescue Europe twice from German aggression, stave off a Soviet Cold War (WW 3) campaign, and floated Europe’s economy and military through the whole period.
Enough of being the “nice guy chump”. They don’t share OUR constitutional or liberty values at all, while their tyrannical values are making big inroads into our national conscience.
Let Europe take care of Europe. Dissolve NATO, and reduce our footprint in Europe to a bare minimum.
“we are the “nice guy chump””
It’s worse than that. More like easy marks for con men, and corrupt in the bargain. We were manipulated into fighting England’s wars twice in the 1900s.
The Brits have our number, and are expert at playing us for the fool.
Others have learned well how to play us. We’re being played for the fool to fight never-ending wars in West Asia now–virtual replay of the 1900s con job. Another century, another America easy and corrupt mark being played the fool. Only difference is the con men playing us for fools.
While we are on Germany, there is something about the idea of re-militarizing Germany that just makes me uncomfortable
Fear not
I had the pleasure of visiting a military museum in Dresden that had all manner of war-making weaponry and dress dating back to full suits of armor
But Germany has lost two world wars’ worth of testosterone — alpha males killed in the conflicts
They don’t have the manpower with sufficient aggression anymore — that’s vested in their muzzie imports
What’s the Eagles line?
“We haven’t had that spirit here since … 1969”
(replace with 1949)
I’m sure it sounded much better in his head.
lolol…. That’s what I was thinking when I first read a story about this.
Wait.. what? He said, what?
Hmmm…I’m wondering if Merz ought to be telling all those wonderful “refugees” that same standard applies?
Not to break German laws, else that “refugee” status might get revoked?
Who knew that the rape and murder of ethnic Germans was the law of the land in Germany?
Exactly.
“those who live in glass houses” kinda thing
Perhaps the German (Euro) experience found and spread tales you could break the law in the USA without any consequence. Probably been that way for a long time, like so much else.
Liberals and their notions that they are royalty.
How dare our President bounce their asses when they break the law here.
These frigging people are idiots.
FAFO
Hmm?
I know how to define this: This is the restoration of normality, decorum.
We have laws. Obey them or leave.
What this tell me and this should be crystal clear to all. The globalist were forging a one world government. If a citizen breaks the law in their country they are punished, ei, fines, jail. They are not deported. Europeans breaking the law here or Americans breaking the law there are fined or jail and not deported as if this is a great big nation cobbled from the US, Germany, etc.
The globalists move with a purpose even down to the smallest detail.
Given so many laws in the USA are not enforced or not enforced equitably one might forgive Germans thinking our law is not a big deal.
How many cities burned and what was done about it?
The burning of cities here, the mass rape in Europe (Thank G-d for our 2A), etc. are all means of coercion by the globalist to cow or subdue the native populations therefore it is permissible.
Nothing was done because it furthers the globalists’ interest. Anything that hampers the globalists’ interest is deemed illegal and you will be punished, for example, verbally opposing mass migration.
Again, again, and again. We have no rights. The globalist have everything. They are the law. This is what they always telegraph.
What you said is consistent with the prior protocol that foreigners can break our laws and not be deported.
The globalists move with a purpose.
How many TESLA fires so far in 2025?
He doesn’t have much faith in the people that supposedly voted for him.
The last time I heard of Fred Merz he was on “I Love Lucy”. He was the butt of the joke there too.
😂🤣😂
You’ll recall, Sundance, that the CBP dude up in CT that was killed in a traffic stop was shot by a German national. I don’t think we’re getting the “best” from European countries any more than we are from elsewhere.
The “Zizians” and the killing of David Maland is available on Wikipedia.
“minor infractions — such as overstaying a visa or misstating travel plans”
You know the exptration date when the visa is issued. There is no excuse for willfully overstaying your visa. And lying. What’s wrong with that?
If you show up at a port with a visitors visa and say, ” I want to visit my friend for two weeks”, you will be admitted for six months. If the alien then says “they gave me six month, I will stay”, after the six month he can apply for another six month extension.
Point being, the alien needs a week, give him two, not a year. End extensions. The current policy encourages fraud and abuse.
freddy merz who…? the moral supremacy they have claimed for decades is unraveling
Why is Reiner Fuellmich still in a Prison in Germany, Friedrich Merz?
That is an excellent question. Thank you, annieoakley, for remembering Reiner Fuellmich.
Maybe this dufus should be sharing this “latest” advisory with the 4 million illegal immigrants over-running HIS country. ?
” they travel to the United States they should be careful not to break the law.”
German’s breaking the law? Ha, Ha, Ha.
Note how Chancellor Friedrich Merz is not telling the Muslim invaders to Germany to stop braking the law.
In his eyes it’s okay for the Muslims to continue murdering and raping German citizens.
I just reviewed the page of ‘auswaertiges-amt.de,’ which is the German equivalent of the DOS or the UK Foreign Office, and I could not find anything unusual. It looks like normal instructions about driver’s licenses, crime, health, disasters… Certainly nothing performative or out of the ordinary. This is clearly being blown out of proportion by Politico.
That said, the German media and many Germans have a strong anti-American sentiment. Germany is one of the most anti-American countries in Europe. The French may not like us, but they dislike everyone equally.
This feels like some kind of ‘winning’, but I’m not exactly sure how to define it.
How about defining this wisdom of truth from the German Chancellor as, “What does breaking the law have anything to do with who is the US President?”
It is simple basic common sense. Given that German law extends into such
widely broad understood areas of German social culture as in what names new borns can be named for example.
So it goes without saying breaking community based law regarding crime is not something that should be viewed with a puzzling mystery. It is a basic social expectation norm any and all visiting guests to any Nation should strive to uphold.
The likely truth of the matter is this issue of break the law while visiting USA will entail visa revocation. Is not really a…
“Eine sühnehafte Offenbarung”
to German citizens. It really only matters to those that manufacture nonsense and of course criminals.
Does this mean that I will not be able to break the law in Germany?
Don’t accidently walk into a first class train car without a the proper ticket. That will be an 85 EURO fine for a 5 EURO ticket.
The EU sound like high school kids warning about a strict parents house when partying.
Germans shouldn’t be allowed to criticize anyone for at least a 1000 years.
So is it in the interests of Justice that, in the absence of a President Trump, Germans can come to the US and break domestic laws with impunity ?
Sounds to me like there’s new found respect for law and order as enacted by the new sheriff in town, President Donald J. Trump.
Perhaps the Germans have noticed what happened when our very crass ambassador chose to insult your president! What an idiot Ebrahim Rasool is .. and a total embarrassment to the South Africans he (doesn’t) represent!
Hell yeah!
Implication being, there are a lot of “tourists” here illegally; IOW, we’ve had no cross-border travel enforcement, period.
Didn’t we just hear Schumer mock people who (gasp!) have built their wealth or business on their own and want to keep their money? This Deutscher is really embracing the “No, duh!” movement that’s going around.
They are now telling everyone that President Trump is living in their heads rent free.
They are passive aggressive and this is all they have left in their arsenal.
Perhaps if they were actually friends and allies,
the French would give them some non gendered brown pants and a white flag.
Speaking of the French, you do know that macron is going to go full manipulative
ex girlfriend when he is up to bat.
Blame and shame, it what they do and all they have left.
I think that Eurotrash Griftocrat knows some Muzzie Germans do travel to the USA to protest and agitate on behalf of those Inbred 7th Century Savages (otherwise known as Gazans), so he is trying to protect “his people”.
As we are told here, ignorance of the law is no excuse. 😁👍🏻
Is this Germany’s way of saying ‘if you’re one of our bad ones, we won’t want you being returned to us either.
In London, citizens can’t possess firearms, so they’re left to defend themselves against terrorists with narwhal tusks and fire extinguishers they pull down from the pub wall

Murderer Who Wielded Narwhal Tusk to Stop Terrorist Gets Royal Pardon – The New York Times
I’m pretty sure that back in the 70’s when I lived and traveled in Europe, it was the same thing over there.
It was pretty much common knowledge that you didn’t break the law in a foreign country if you wanted to stay or go back again some day.
Guess times have changed and the sky’s the limit now in the EU?
Anyhooo….. I’ll take the new American way of doing things!
I don’t know sunny, I never break the law wherever I am.
Good idea. You are guests in our Country. If you abuse the privilege or attempt to harm our Citizens or way of life, we will kick your ass out…
In other words, don’t FAFO.
President Trump said, and this is how to define it:
our country will be respected again !
(vs. autopen FJB era)
“This feels like some kind of ‘winning’, but I’m not exactly sure how to define it. “
What about, “Winning of the 3rd kind?”
After all, it does involve aliens 😉
MAGA 👊👊🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
Trumpian!
Last summer while up at Yellowstone NP we took a trip up to Cooke City MT. Over at the firepit by our lodge was some yahoo strapped up with a stainless Sig…. now I’m for anyone carrying…open or concealed me too….just thought… at the firepit ????…… Anyway the “yahoo” turned to be a dentist from Bremen and one of the nicer people I’ve met ….. I was stationed in Germany at the brand new Lucius Clay Kaserne between Bremen and Bremerhaven >45 years ago. Turns out he had friends in Silver Gate and was a yearly visitor. I’d put him in his mid forties. Not sure if many other Germans share his conservative mindset.
“carrying…open or concealed me too….just thought… at the firepit ????…… ”
In territory where there are large predators (mountain lions and grizzly bears), you never know when one will show up.
My cousin told me this story….While in Kalispell Montana one spring a few years ago a group of serious looking cowboys walked into a famous western themed bar , sawdust and peanut shells on the floor, country music , huge bar in the middle of the room. He remarked to the server how rustic, authentic they seemed, hats, gun belts with real six shooters, chaps, the whole Montana look. The server said, no, they were regular workers every year on a cattle ranch outside of town. They came from Iceland.
In 1969 I dropped a candy wrapper on the pavement in Amsterdam. About 10 seconds later, a cop ordered me to pick it up and place it in the bin.
In 1993, I got caught speeding on the Austrian autobahn. When I told the cop I was American and would have trouble going to the courthouse, he told me I could just pay him.
