The three Eastern Provinces of Kerson, Lugansk and Donetsk are overwhelmingly Ethnic Russian and the broke away from Ukraine in 2014 declaring their independence and forming their own government. In fact, 25% of the Ukrainian Army resigned in 2014 and formed the military of the three provinces. So, Russia never invaded Ukraine.

What? Russia did so invade Ukraine. No pretend where that fact is concerned.
These areas were ethnically Russian but still part of Ukraine. That is like saying all ethnically Latino regions of the US should belong to Mexico.
The Russians within the Ukrainian army left and folded into the Russian militias and then were later conscripted by the Russian army. Almost all of them are now dead or hopelessly maimed.

IF you had listened to Lavrov, he clearly, unambiguously lays out the history of the broken promises by the U.S. the E.U./NATO and the Ukes, and how they have been the provocatuers all along.
So, why not go back and listen, take notes and then if you want to dispute the Russian version of the history, try and cite reliable sources to counter what Lavrov is saying?….and good luck with that..
If NATO had troops stationed on US border, in Mexico, I would think this a threat to this country, my simple understanding of it, anyway. During the time last week when Ukraine was scrambling to get support from Europe, Russia didn’t attack, from what I recall. I’m so tired of being brainwashed (from the 80’s up until now) that Russia is the cause of all ills in the world. Russia is doing its part in this war and attacking Ukraine and all of the killing between these countries is terrible. So many have died! For YEARS, NATO has been on their (Russia’s) border almost as a threat. Why is this not being discussed? I pray and hope Russia and Ukraine come to the table and talk. I don’t think the United States should be at all involved in this fight, military, money, nothing! The only way President Trump (IMO) should be involved is to bring Ukraine and Russia to the peace table. I read yesterday that the US resumed support militarily and financially for Ukraine because Zelensky agreed to a cease fire? If true, that’s not a good direction, imo. The United States needs to keep on the path forward, not look back to Ukraine, and figure a way to broker peace between these two countries. We have huge problems in our own country, primarily the border, and we need to focus on home.
The only point in re-establishing intel sharing with Ukraine, is to have something to hang over their heads, in order to compel them to honor their commitments regarding the cease fire.
Any waffling, and we cut off the intel, again.

Here’s the economics facing Trump in America. It’s quite simple. [graph] The US national debt is simply growing faster than the economy and the debt payments and deficit financing are beginning to consume the budget. The gap between the two lines shown here has become just too big. This is open to discussion of how long it’ll go on. We know it works until it suddenly doesn’t. That’s the best way of putting it. We just don’t know, but this gap can’t be this wide for too much longer.
There are two core issues here that the US must solve and Trump is focused on right now. The US consumes more than it produces and has for decades resulting in increasing destabilization of the global twin deficit US funding bleed that it is causing and, second, the US deficit spending no longer generates the GDP growth it once did. Specifically, debt growth no longer produces economic growth at a sufficient rate. The cornerstone of Keynesian deficit financing doesn’t work and here are the numbers. In the US it now takes as much as $2.50 of new debt to produce a dollar of economic growth. In the US it takes $1.50 of deficit growth to produce $1 of economic growth. In Q4 just completed it took $5.80 of new debt for a dollar of GDP and in Biden’s last year in 2024 it took $3.90 for $1 of GDP. This is a road to complete and total bankruptcy.

I probably will never buy an all electric car…..and I certainly will never have one as my primary vehicle. If we ever own one, it will be as our “only in town runabout” ride.
That said: we had a ride in a new Tesla recently and I was seriously amazed at how solid it felt; how smoothly it rode and drove; and how utterly impressive the graphics were on the large screen and all of the amazing capabilities for information display there were.
When the range issue gets a lot better…AND the ability to recharge the things gets a lot faster…..lots of these are going to be sold.
Lithium is a little volatile for my tastes and the dadgum things aren’t reliable in the cold. Shredding tires is fun though, I will give you that.
Tesla cars have an ability to prepare the batteries for charging. When you do that there “not reliable in the cold” issue goes away.
We have had a Tesla since they first started building them. We bought it because of all the things you pointed out. The recharging issues are a fallacy. Our old Tesla still gets a 240 mile range. As time goes by Tesla supercharging stations are everywhere. And you can recharge overnight at home with a Tesla adapter to your home electricity. Tesla supercharging stations can recharge your batteries in record time. 20 minutes more or less. Other EV makers do not have superchargers. That is the Tesla advantage. Do not believe the horror stories.
We don’t have the electrical grid to have super charging stations everywhere

Had a panic phone call from a friend who’s liberal friends were telling her that all of Social Security and Medicare is being cut by those DOGE people and was able to give her the facts, that only the fraud is being cut, such as checks to people who are over 150 years old or for illegals improperly receiving medical benefits through either Medicare or Medicaid and that she needed to remind her friends to stop watching the doom and gloom channels;
that what the DOGE people are really doing is a government-wide audit and that cuts that do happen is because the DOGE team notified that executive branch agency of what they found to be questionable and that it is the agency, or federal dept. cancelling the contracts and that long-term cuts will only come about once the Congress, which authorizes all money to be spent, gets a chance to vote on the new budget that won’t be submitted until the audits are completed and when President Trump can submit the official budget to Congress at the beginning of next year – so that all the news people are doing is simply scaring people to get them to keep watching their programs.
Explained to her that the DOGE people were doing all that while at the same time updating all the computer systems as fast as possible since some, like Social Security, is still operating on old floppy disc systems.

BREAKING: Senior ICE and DHS officials just held a background call w/ reporters. Highlights below, per these officials:
Trump administration ICE interior arrests of illegal aliens inside the US has already surpassed all of Biden’s ICE interior arrests in all of Fiscal Year 2024.
In Trump’s first 50 days in office from January 20th through March 10th, the Trump administration ICE has made 32,809 arrests of illegal aliens in the interior of the US. This almost matches all of Biden ICE interior arrests in FY 2024, which were about 33,300. Officials say in the last two days since March 10th, the Trump ICE arrests are now above this number.
Of the roughly 33,000 ICE arrests under Trump so far:
14,111 are convicted criminals
9,980 have pending charges
8,000 + have immigration violations (being in US illegally)
ICE currently has 47,600 illegal aliens in detention, and they are “maxed out” on beds.
ICE and DHS officials then said a review of their records showed that the Biden administration “cooked the books” and “falsely inflated” ICE arrest data, and were “purposely misleading the American public” by categorizing illegal aliens who were processed by ICE and released into the interior of the US as ICE arrests.
ICE says their review found “tens of thousands” of cases in which these so called “pass through arrests”, where no immigration enforcement action was taken and the aliens were released into the country, were counted as interior ICE arrests in the data.
ICE says this was a directive from the previous leadership at DHS, and it included thousands of violent criminals and gang members.
ICE says they are currently attempting to locate and arrest these previous “pass through arrests” from the Biden admin.

I’ve been banking with a bank in our small town for over 30 years. The tellers all know me and I consider this to be the best banking security I can have. If someone was to come into the bank and try to access my account the tellers would know it’s not me.
The bank is now trying to force me into getting a debit card and signing up for online banking. This is the weakest banking security I can have. Now I have to write down my social security number, show my ID and then as I stand in front of the teller that I know on first name basis and wait for a phone call from the bank’s call center to give me a 4 digit number to give to the teller.
I will now withdraw most of my savings and put it in tin cans and bury in my back yard. I will keep just enough in the bank to cover unexpected little emergencies.
When I do go to the bank, I will stand in front of the teller and slow down the whole process, make small talk with the teller and make everyone behind me wait and wait and wait. I don’t want to be mean to the other customers, I do want to leave them with a bad experience for doing banking with this bank. A little way to throw sand in the machine. Our town only has 2 banks, I have accounts with both.
Don’t piss off the man that wants to be left alone.

The Middle East Eye has revealed on Wednesday that Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University masters grad who was detained by the Department of Homeland Security on Saturday night after his green card was revoked by the State Department, had security clearance from the British government. He worked, the outlet states, as a “programme manager at the Syria Office in the British embassy in Beirut from 2018 to 2022.”
Khalil was a leader and spokesperson for the violent demonstrations and occupations that took place on Columbia’s campus. Students and activists occupied the quad, administration buildings, and as recently as January, disrupted classes to distribute anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian pamphlets. Last week, a Barnard College library was occupied and the NYPD was called in to clear the building.
