British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is holding a Ukraine summit in London today with EU leaders, following two phone calls with President Trump.
According to the outline Starmer proposed on BBC News, following the disastrous Zelenskyy meeting in the White House, the British PM called President Trump and also Emmanuel Macron. According to his statements, Starmer told Trump he would work with Macron +2 unidentified countries (a “coalition of the willing”), to organize an EU security force for a Ukraine ceasefire; then the group will require Trump to provide a U.S. troop “backstop” as an insurance policy.
Starmer completely ignores the NATO provocations against Russia that preceded the military operation by Vladimir Putin, instead blaming only the aggression of Putin for the expansion of NATO in Europe. Interview Below:

We have had US forces on the ground in Germany for 80 YEARS. That’s close enough to help protect any NATO country that is attacked.

Three key events Thursday and Friday. Trump made clear statement to Starmer on Thursday that you never know who you can trust. Starmer also pushed Trump on providing internal security to Ukraine after cease fire. Trump didn’t take the bait. Watch Starmer’s reception of Zelensky after the Friday meltdown. It’s celebratory. The Friday behavior by Zelensky was likely planned. They didn’t realize that Trump and Vance were ready for them. My guess is that the Trump team also knows that this was a Zelensky, Starmer, EU set up with plans to involve us longterm in a conflict dependent on our support.

Details and links on a thread here from yesterday (Alex Krainer twitter) indicate Czech news reporting that Zelenskyy already sold the mineral rights to Britain in the Addendum to an agreement with Britain signed 4 days before Trump’s inauguration.
All of this from Zelensky and Britain are just desperate attempts to lure in our US troops. Starmer’s mineral rights aren’t worth much if they can’t access them. Starmer has only about 10000 troops to send to Ukraine.Ukraine has lost the war already.

Putin is no good guy. He does love his country though and would much rather see it flourish economically than like the many years of poverty it endured. The big question is how long is Putin going to be around? He is not well. For now, he has set specific goals in the UKR. Chances are he’d like it to stop sooner than later and would welcome a sincere attempt to negotiate peace. But he’s not just going to give away the whole deal. They have been burned before by false promises on the part of the west as we all know. He could have taken the whole country of UKR had he desired it but the aftermath would have been horrific.

The recent meeting in Saudi was interesting in that the focus was not only on the Ukraine issue but more about normalizing relations between the US and Russia, a significant departure. The reaction from both Zelenskyy and the EU at large was telling. One would think that the prospect of normalcy between two great powers would be a cause to celebrate but the true colors from our “allies” was stark.
It is farce on the part of Starmer to contemplate “requiring” any participation by the US. I doubt very much that President Trump will allow himself and his nation to be encumbered by what has become the punks of Europe.
I think our president will act calmly and deliberately but I for one would be pleased to see a US departure from NATO once and for all. This latest desperate move from the EU might just be catalyst to justify it.
