One of the consistent reminders from CTH research files is always to ‘trust your instincts.’ If it doesn’t feel quite right, then just wait, don’t formulate an opinion, keep watching and the picture will likely fill-in.
When considering anything that encompasses Vivek ‘The Slick’ Ramaswamy, trusting your instincts is key. Everything, from the speech pattern, the cadence, the sense of self-importance; all the way to the grand prose of Indian cultural heritage that puts others down as a cultural power dynamic, socially elevating self. It is all performative. Shallow and performative.
Ohio is an odd state. They seem to always find a way to leave themselves with the worst possible options for Governor. He’s going to be a liability in the long term. Ramaswamy is not stable; he’s erratic and focused on emotional/personality issues.
.
I hope the people in Ohio do not agree with my assessment, because the other options are likely to be worse.
Ohio is a weird place when it comes to Governor races. The old GOP party controls the mechanics, the MAGA party is the base – that’s the source of the contradiction.

It’s obvious VR has been speech polishing by studying Clinton and Obama.
The way he flitters around on stage Vivek reminds me of flim flam salesman Robert Preston in the “Music Man” singing “Ya got Trouble” in River City.
💯
Trouble with a capital T!
and that rhymes with P and that stands for Pool!
Eminem tells Vivek Ramaswamy to stop using his music after viral “Lose Yourself” rap performance

You’ve highlighted the best “evidence” for why he’s Slick alright. Nothing like rapping over half the lyrics of a top-10 rap song while you’re campaigning in Iowa -something no other R candidate had ever done -and next thing we know, you’re on a tweet-storm complaining about how mired in our “rap and wrestling” culture we Americans are.
Yeah. That’s priceless.
Was Slick the kid in the movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ ?
Other than the fact that he uses Obama verbiage at times, I do not see the reason for the distrust; at this stage anyway.
Maybe I am just ignorant. I figure, give him a chance and let’s see what happens. Perhaps he won’t be as bad as the governor he is replacing? I chalk up the big talk to inexperience. But perhaps he wants the best for Ohio.
me too
Me Too-Too
DeWine has set the bar very low for Ohio GOP gubernatorial candidates, you are so right. He has been a mediocre governor, as he was a mediocre politician in Congress.
If Vivek can flim-flam his way to signing good legislation, spending state money the right way, DOGE the state gov’t and programs…sure, it’s not the best executive situation, but he’s gotta be better than any Dem candidate by a mile.
Running and winning a Governor race in OHIO positions the fellow for a run at the Presidency.
That’s about as simple as it gets.
I think he was dropped from the DOGE Team for reasons we will sadly need to wait to learn.
Vivek is by far the best option for all people of Ohio. I have not seen anything that gives me pause. Unstable-erratic-emotional?
The WEF should be proud of their boy.
Bullseye!
Guess you’d rather a Democrat….
Guess you’d rather make idiotic remarks….
“The WEF has a radical worldview that rejects the principles America was founded on. I’m not interested in being a ‘global citizen.’ I’m an American.”

He was very involved in the pharmaceutical business.
I will take a wait and see position. That is the great thing about this country. Ohio is only one of 50 places where politicians can show us their ability to manage. Truly, I wish Ramaswamy lived a couple hundred miles north in my home state (Michigan)
Anyone would be better than Lyin’ Benson.
I predict Mike Duggan will win.
Yeah, I’d take him over “inseminated person” Governor. My God how our choices have devolved to this level.
It appears Mike Rogers is going to be the Republican front runner, and Mayor Pete for the Democrats. I love this state, it’s got some beautiful places, but our politics suck.
I’m glad I don’t live in Ohio.
I’m really glad that VR isn’t part of DOGE. I get a weird vibe of VR.
I also got a weird vibe off Dan Crenshaw (TX) and he hasn’t turned out all the great.
I live in Ohio. We have awesome gun rights. We have a decent economy. We have a terrible GOP party that propped up three candidates for governor, guaranteeing Dewine would win. But he generally leaves us alone. Covid not withstanding. And the state has went cherry red by twelve points after being a swing state for decades. Lot to be thankful for.
I didn’t feel too bad voting for DeWine his first term.
But after how he handled Covid – cancelling the Republican Presidential Primary just a few days before it was supposed to be held (obviously the cancelling was planned much earlier), threatening people to get the “vaccine” during their appointed month or “go to the back of the line” – which put pressure on many people who just wanted more time to do more research and decide what was best for them and their family members, closing the schools, going back and forth then finally mandating the worthless masks, I really did not want to vote for that man.
What choice did I have? He was better than the Democrat.
Not a fan of Vivek either, but again, is he worse than a Democrat?
Ohio ought to be 30+ points GOP.
I think your high bar is waaaaaay too low.
Remember yogi bear had a cartoon where they tried to find the perfect place but there was always something wrong. This is you with politicians. Find a perfect politician and I’ll fly my pig over and we’ll have bacon sandwiches
No surprise, whatsoever.
Ohio could do a lot worse than Vivek. And judging by the quality of the Ohio GOP, they probably will.
Weirdo DeWine is a RINO’s RINO
Don’t forget Kaisich, oogly boogly. Never Trump Republicans are some sorry folks. I believe they have a somewhat sick world view. A hard on for the working class usually. They don’t get it or are trying real hard not to. When the working class does well we all are doing well. They would rather watch the working class go down the drain and all our wealth piped into China than do better themselves.
You say trust your instincts = I CAN SAY WITH 100% ACCURACY, Vivek = 100% CASE CLOSED = WATCH and SEE
We Tennesseans respectfully take issue with your claim that Ohio always elects the worst GOP governors.
Please DO something about that then.
Yes, It was Governor Lee that sent the letter to all physicians in Jan 2020 talking about how dangerous hydroxyquinolone was and warning us that it was not approved for treatment of Covid — before Covid was even here. Never before had I ever gotten a letter sent directly to doctors telling me how to practice medicine.
He’s going to have the whole DeSimp machine going after him the entire campaign so it’ll probably move more MAGA into his camp.
I don’t know about shallow and performative but I do know that all the bouncing around is instability. Not sure why he couldn’t have stayed on DOGE for awhile and used his stage presence to do pressers on all the WFA. He is a better speaker than Elon but now that he has quit his DOGE position people will not trust him sticking with governor. Maybe 10 years of bouncing and losing will calm him down where he actually can contribute more than words.
I see him as wanting to do good but he has to find some calm. I don’t advocate Trumps ear shot method but I’ve noticed Trump is more at peace, and Vivek needs some of that stability.
Vivek is all about himself, no doubt about it. When he can’t be first ala DOGE he leaves. Didn’t like Musk overshadowing him IMHO.
Precisely. And both Musk and PDJT have ‘smarmy’ pegged. PDJT has yet again employed the cunning “Rope a dope” strategy; – whereby eventually he will fully expose himself.
I’d really like to know what really happened between VR and Elon. I sense it is much deeper than him simply wanting to run for Ohio governor. He was being over shadowed and probably didn’t like it. We’ll probably never know. I’m with Sundance on this one.
Vivek Shamwow
Vivek O’Rourke
One “Slick” was enough for me, and he and his wife exist to this day.
So he got the Trump endorsement. What will the haters say now? I don’t agree with everything about Vivek, but he is a fellow traveler, and that makes him very favorable to be in this position. Hopefully he wins.
People aren’t thinking far ahead. Just the here and now. You need MAGA acolytes to keep carrying the message long after Trump is gone. Will he change his tune? We’ll have to see. It’s up to the voters to keep an eye on him.
True. A lot of people like Vivek and he attracted many under the tent, just like RFK Jr brought many under the tent.
It says a lot that PDJT could welcome them both. But when Vivek and RFK stand next to our President, there is NO question who is the alpha male.
Had a colleague like Vivek at Istituto di tecnologia del Massachusetts: charming, brilliant, and though he said he was conservative, when push came to shove, he was a globalist RINO.
Vivek RAN against President Trump, thinking he was better and if not better, intended to put kink in PDJT winning at the least.
That says everything.
He is running for Ohio governor to keep Ohio from being FOR President Trump and MAGA, allthewhile acting like on the team.
WHY President Trump acts/treats like Vivek is on his/our side Is curious. However, it is certainly not because he is unaware or stupid and the outcome will prove he had a very real and present reason for this.
I dont’t agree with your first premise.
ANYONE running for President will appear to be opposed to the eventual winner.
Not to suggest that Nikki Haley, Romney, Jeb etc were not total losers.
Still, I am not sure Vivek is a true MAGA. But he surely plays a nice game at it.
So much of the political theater of the past 2 generations has been just that – THEATER.
The Politician says to the audience what he/she imagines that audience wants to hear.
Which means YOU ALL need to attend these GOP Primary events and ask tough questions.
It takes just one 3 hour moment of your year. Come On. Go to the boring meeting and ask that difficult question.
Regarding candidates who say all they expect the audience to want to hear and hem and dodge…..
Challenge them with well thought out questions. Don’t sit down until they ANSWER your question.
You shall know them by their acts.
You’ve completely nailed it. Precisely. And both Musk and PDJT have ‘smarmy’ pegged. PDJT has yet again employed the cunning “Rope a dope” strategy; – whereby eventually he will fully expose himself.
Vivek, “the Slick” will likely win in Ohio. As an Ohian, I am disappointed that we haven’t a better choice. He practices Hinduism, although he went to a Catholic college. Call me prejudice, but this doesn’t add to his “glamour” in my opinion.
Oh, he made his millions in Big Pharma.
I have a good friend who was a top lawyer and deep into Cincinnati/Ohio state GOP politics for decades. He falsely believed everything he was fed until I started opening his eyes.
I must forward him about 3 to 4 CTH articles average per day, plus others. He now knows differently. The RINO runs deep.
Sure, he’s pompous.
So GOP folks Sundance doesn’t like include Vivek and Harmeet Dhillon.
Noted.
The characters have ample opportunity when in positions of power and media celebrity to actually say and DO things.
When they do not….well that’s it.
You don’t get a lot of chances to hit the home run when bases are loaded.
Do it….or S T F U.
Governor DeWine (R) was the worst (R) governor in The US when it came to a COVID response.
He messed it up Big Time and acted just like Newsome, Witmer and the other (D) Governors.
Agree with Sundance, Ohio is weird but it did give us JD Vance and he’s just fine.
Just search for “RINO Governor DeWine COVID” on http://www.resulthunter.com and see for yourself
DeWine let the OBAMA supporter Amy Acton (Ohio Dept of Health Director), that he appointed, run the show on Covid, while he hid behind her skirts. They repeatedly violated the Ohio Constitution…
But it wasn’t as bad as Michigan.
JD was not a product of Ohio.
He just happened to be born and raised there.
I wish sometimes it had been NJ instead.
Maybe he’ll improve the work ethic, culture and living conditions in Ohio. You know, like they have it in India. This cat’s a snake…
He’s wicked smart and would be a vast improvement over DeWine.
We just need more Indians to culture us to Make America Great Again!
Wow, Sundance. That seems unnecessarily harsh. I like Vivek. I like that he has a nice family. I like that he loves America. And I appreciate the fact that people like him are willing to put themselves out there under the glaring spotlight of public scrutiny when they don’t have to.
Having a billion $ makes it easy to do/say anything.
I don’t like that Vivek profited off a big PHARMA options and manipulation.
(The story is out there about HOW he became so quickly disgustingly rich, if you seek it. )
He was too Smart and too clever maybe, but not Capitalist in the classical sense.
Vivek could earn back many points by donating his ill-earned gains to the lawyers who prosecute FAUCI and accomplices.
Perhaps Kennedy will address the scam at some point.
His rapping jive in Iowa was the first clue this guy isn’t completely on the level.
Absolutely Sundance!;”shallow and performative” in a nutshell.
“Ohio is an odd state. They seem to always find a way to leave themselves with the worst possible options for Governor.” Ditto Virginia
Oy vey. Please, please, please, Ohio voters do not vote for Vivek Ramaswamy for governor or any other political office.
And, please do not let election fraud put him in any office. Yikes!
Can you please suggest a better choice while we still have time ?
I live in Ohio. We have been stuck with one RINO governor after another with an occasional crappy democrat throw in to the mix. Dewine (RINO), Kasich (RINO), Strickland (Commie), Taft (Criminal RINO). Voinovich (Wimpy RINO), etc…
The “GOP” controls the legislature, but the various unions – Police, Fire, Teachers, etc… control both parties.
Maybe, just maybe, Vivek who does not need the union money will be different. We’ll see.
I heard Jordan Peterson interview him and VR was mimicking JP’s speech and thoughts. He obviously had listened to JP’s videos and was practically repeating what JP had said at some point, especially regarding his marriage. He couldn’t have exactly matched how JP talks about his own marriage without listening to him and copying him.
I do appreciate that he read the 1,000 page continuing resolution and pointed out ridiculous expenditures.
What happened that he and Elon were going to run DOGE? I remember Sundance announcing that Vivek was out, but I don’t understand what happened.
Vivek shot off his mouth and called Americans stupid, in a discussion where he tried to defend the tech industry’s overuse of H1-b visa foreigners.
IMHO he alienated Pres. Trump with that surprisingly thoughtless statement, although the President did not directly say as much, and that likely led to a quiet agreement with Vivek being asked to serve “elsewhere” in the Administration or somehow NOT serving on a project as sensitive and critical as DOGE.
This, his H1-B screed;
and, if Ohio is still a big union State am hoping that those union members will recall Ramaswamy’s anti-American because Americans are stupid and lazy screed so the nation needs more H1-B people instead of good ol’ American workers and NOT elect him as Governor; at this point in time Ohio could be better served with a Democrat in the Governor’s chair.
Kind of take that “Ohio is weird” comment in an odd way, being born and having my early childhood years there, up by the Lake, was the best childhood one could have had, free range and simply had to be home when the street lights came on.
As Let Freedom Ring said the GOP controls the legislature but its the Unions that control the rest – it was like that back in the late 1950’s, and 1960’s, so interesting to hear not much has really changed.
That’s right Bessie.
And yes, it *is* interesting that the unions still seem to want Leftwing Democrat governance, but I would not go as far as thinking a DemoCrap governor would ever be a better choice than a Republican. Democraps never go against their mob party leadership’s policy no matter how extreme left it is.
I like Vivek and cannot see where he has done anything fishy.
Do your research
Mmm. …mmm. Arumph…
If it weren’t for Vivek greasing the skids during his campaign about conservative policies and our Constitution, Donald Trump would not be president. Fact. It’s amazing how everyone fawns over every word from SD. I can think of several misses over the years.
I spoke to him, in person, 3 separate times in Iowa during his campaign events. He remembered me each time and was able to verbally and genuiniely recall a small detail about our personal conversation at the previous event. That’s my story, and I will reserve judgement until I have more data. He’s top notch IMO.
Oh dear. So easily flattered and fooled…he saw you coming a mile off.
It is correct to suspect all politicians, Vivek included. Sundance has been pretty good about this. But given the history of the Republican party in Ohio, we could do a lot worse. Like DeWine and Kasich. I think Robert Taft is out of prison now but not a shining star.
And polished or not, what rough jewel in Ohio politics leans any closer to MAGA than the one endorsed by #47. If such a jewel existed, wouldn’t he be the Endorsed One? Not a perfect world, but let’s concentrate on the problem of 35,000 FBI employees against about 5 executives, and mirrored by every other bureaucracy and sweetened by activist judges. Vivek can’t do any worse than has been done before him.
I will not be voting for him. Hopefully, we will have a real MAGA candidate I can vote for.
Minds made up, NO…..
I’ve has enough of the H1B grifters in our Ohio county. The 3 to 5 families buy into our neighborhoods in record rates then fill up our school district with their children while only paying property taxes for one house, No thanks to another Indian taking advantage of our state. How are they able to buy a house as a non-citizen?
what’s john kasich doing lately?
