I am a native of Ohio. Born and raised near Springfield. Moved in 1990. Still have family there and part of that family right now is straddling THE OLD GOP and Common Sense (Trump). A business owner and IN politics as an elected participant, in 2016 said “Trump, no way.” I told him “Trump, ALL ways.” He laughed at me. Trump won. We have not discussed politics since. It will be interesting to see who he chooses will win the Governor’s seat. Dewine is known as “the Little Tyrant.” The name DeWine has been in politics there a long, long time. It is OLD and runs very, very deep.
I believe when the blacks moved north to their enclaves in big cities, it was the downturning of America, then the communists joined them. But ever since the great Kentucky migration to Ohio, educational standards went down, drug use increased exponentially, and politics suffered to the left.

Hmmm… I hadn’t thought of that. Some could be programmed, but with Vivek, I don’t think that’s the case. He knows exactly what he’s doing. And he loves that he has such power and control over the people he’s doing it to.

Vivek’s nasty reaction to the MAGA movement’s push to stop H-1b visa hirings and mandate US citizens to be hired before importing foreign workers might have awakened Trump to Vivek’s ugly side. PDJT may have, at that moment, decided Vivek had stained his image enough to use him in a different way, a bit more removed from 47’s administration.
He was making DOGE look bad so they removed him from view. He should have been fired after his nasty remarks.

Retired Magistrate here: The Democrats are running Dr. Amy Acton as their candidate for Ohio Governor. She was DeWine’s Health Director during Covid and with the power that DeWine gave her she effectively shut down the entire state. Unfortunately, many people in Ohio loved her; thought that she was just wonderful. No she was not a Republican, of course, DeWine isn’t either (a RINO on steroids).
So looks like our choice will be Vivek and Husted on the GOP side and Acton on Democrat side. Yes, Ohio is most definitely MAGA in the rural arears, small and medium sized towns. However, it is Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati where the governing power is.
Hopefully a true MAGA candidate will put his/her hat in the ring, but is is doubtful. The big money will be behind the old GOP candidate, Husted and Vivek will pick up the tech money. The only bright side is that we will finally be getting rid of DeWine.

Former Ohioan here. Our kids still live there. The old GOP party was enriched for years by Leslie Wexner of The Limited and Victoria’s Secret stores. Wexner’s generosity is also advertised all over OSU and its hospitals. As soon as Trump appeared on the scene in 2016, Wexner decided to go “Independent,” which left his candidate, former State Sen., Congressman, and 2016 Presidential candidate John Kasich in the lurch. There’s sort of a gay undercurrent stretching back years in the Establishment GOP. Also, Wexner’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein, his supposed “financier,” made it imperative that Wexner avoid entanglements with DJT and MAGA.
