Democrats and allied media are pushing a hard narrative that Elon Musk and his DOGE review team may have access to sensitive systems at the IRS, creating what they call “privacy concerns.”
In a letter Monday to IRS Acting Commissioner Douglas O’Donnell the lawmakers wrote that the proposal raises “serious concerns that Elon Musk and his associates are seeking to weaponize government databases containing private bank records and other confidential information to target American citizens and businesses as part of a political agenda.” (source)
The quote (emphasis mine) attributed to Senator Ron Wyden, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Finance, and Senator Elizabeth Warren, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, is more than a little ironic.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz testified on April 27, 2023, that more than 3.4 million search queries into the NSA database took place between Dec. 1st, 2020, and Nov. 30th, 2021, by government officials and/or contractors working on behalf of the federal government.
Within that data set, approximately 30% of those 3.4 million search queries were outside the rules and regulations that govern warrantless searches, what the politically correct government calls “non-compliant searches.”
That means more than 1 million searches of private documents and communication of Americans were illegal. IG Horowitz also admitted that somewhere north of 10,000 federal employees have workstation access to conduct these searches of the NSA database; a database which contains the electronic data of every single American, including emails, text messages, social media posts, instant messages, direct messages, phone calls, geolocation identifiers, purchases by electronic funds, banking records and any keystroke any American person puts into any electronic device for any reason. {GO DEEP}

The cumulative number in the chart is several hundred million “people”. More than the current US population. I would imagine the vast majority of these are just fraudulent numbers to start with. They never were born, died or even existed.
You do get the every now and then person who never reports the death of a parent and continues to get the check, but there can’t be hundreds of millions of those. These many millions must just be fake people for probably 90+% of them.
I bet that even though some of them are older than 125 years of age they still managed to get a bank account with direct deposit and electronic banking on their cell phone.////
One way to help curb these fraudulent numbers might be to require all those over the age of 125 to renew their driver’s licenses in person rather than doing it via their phone…………

Thank you for that clarity. If you have a box of lemon cookies and in it is also a dead mouse, and no one has eaten the dead mouse, then there is no story there? The database has a purpose and should yield accurate and useful results. Apparently there is a procedural non-conformance, complete lack of procedure, lack of quality measurements, or intentional data corruption. This flags a lack of a management system. That’s a bigger, if harder to understand, story. Call it incompetence and have the professional courage to fire the managment and correct the system.

The question really is, does the SSN dbase get purged of dead persons? I have no idea. I would think it should. For what reason would we retain these entries in the ‘active’ dbase? SS-benefits are per-person or per-survivor and are transferred around in the latter case, which would surely ‘anchor’ them in the dbase… this is not disputed.
But for anyone that died with no survivors… there’s no reason to keep them in there. ‘For posterity’?… ok.. move those records to the ‘dead SSN recipients dbase’ which would not be eligible to have benefits doled out and is not connected to any system where checks may be cut.
Trimming the size of the primary dbase is always a good idea.
There were probably a handful of 100yr olds in 1935 in the entire country. If all of them got enrolled (and that’s not a given), then that’s the max number of such ~190yr old entries I’d expect to see.
All the numbers higher than that indicate some kind of incompetence at best, or fraud.
What we can likely expect: any entry in the SSN dbase -may- be issued funds. I.e, the criteria is “must be in the SSN dbase -and maybe some other stipulation- (which we don’t know)”. So SSN entry is necessary. That creates the doorway to fraud.
Being as generous as possible, it is ridiculously -sloppy- at best to have all of these ridiculously old accounts/entries/instances in the freakin’ dbase that is used to dole out money damn-near hand over fist with apparently little/no oversight.
Stop giving the government the benefit of the doubt when they have not earned it. These inquiries from the DOGE have been going on scant couple/three of weeks. Close to 40,000 centenarians have reported income from jobs, though, because SSNs are frequently stolen and used by illegals; some SSNs have been used hundreds of times. And some people have more than one social security number.

There are millions of people that the SSA knows are dead, but they refuse to update their records all the way through despite OIG demands to do so; claiming it is not cost-effective.
These incomplete records are often used by state governments for “cleaning up the voter rolls”, and from what I’ve seen, it is only for the newly-reported deaths anyway, not for all of them.

The problem seems to be deeper than lack of reporting of deaths as an earlier Musk comment implied there was no check link between the Federal Deaths database and that of the Federal Social Security.
It is difficult to die in this country without it being reported to the social security administration. If you die in a hospital, nursing home, assisted living facility they are required to report your death. If you die at home on hospice the hospice provider is required to report it. If you die at home alone the coroner is required to report it. Homicide the police report it. Funeral homes are also required to report death dates. The social security administration receives a death date from five different databases, if the dates are all different they go with the date used in three of the five databases.
Don’t forget that the life insurance companies have access, daily, to those ‘reported’ deaths.
I’d place high odds that many of them vote as well.

For a school to get 100% free lunches for everyone of their student they need 60% of the students to meet the low income threshold. They encourage and assist 60% of the students families to complete the applications. They know many applicants lie and they do not care because verifying income is not required. Many illegal children that do not speak English help to get schools to that magic 60%. Once there Bill Gates kids could get free lunches, of course we know they were sent to private school and would never be provided the garbage being served in public schools today.
Sidebar, more or less… My late sister-in-law worked in her local public school system for 30 years, which overlapped the huge influx of illegals into our schools who couldn’t speak a word of English. It started back in the early 90s, if not before. Every time there’s a protest against DOGE they ought to post video clips of the protestors with a caption something like: “look at the number of former government employees who were leeching off your tax dollars for non-essential work”.

My neighbor told me about an illegal that stole an Americans Social Security number and used that for his employer. He saved every one of his paycheck stubs. He worked illegally in the country for 20 years. His girlfriend that he had 4 kids with received welfare the entire time. They declared he did not live with his girlfriend and kids and he had no income (it was untraceable because he did not supposedly work). He then got cancer and his girlfriend helped him apply for Medicaid. He was denied (today he would be approved) because of his immigration status. They took shoe boxes of wage stubs to the local Social Security Office and they had to create him a tax identification number (TIN) and manually enter every single wage stub into the system. He was declared disabled and giving social security disability and ended up on Medicare two years later. Meanwhile, he ended up getting Medicaid through the alien emergency medical program. His wage stubs had the same address as his girlfriend and kids. And overpayment for the welfare benefits was created which took weeks to process. The girfriend filed a fair hearing and the administrative law judge found in favor of the girlfriend because they had gone through so much already. They got married. He died about a year later. Wife and kids started receiving survivor benefits.

If one third of the payments in Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are fraudulent, that is most of the budget deficit. They have not audited the defense budget yet which, given what has already been found, is filled with fraud, the budget could be balanced without reducing any current benefits. The national debit could begin to be paid off *this* year. It will take some money to deport the 25 million illegal immigrants, but each deportation will save half a million dollars in public services over twenty years so it is completely worth it.
There are so many things which need to be done at the same time. No wonder Trump has surrounded himself with competent and capable people that have been burned in some way by the left — Elon lost a son to the woke mind virus (a CIA psy-op), RFK Jr and Tulsi were drummed out of their party for apostasy and John Eastman is still getting hounded for defending a heretic. Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) would be a great start. This is cash assistance that is supposed to end after 60 months of benefits. During that 60 months the beneficiaries are encouraged to either go to school to get a meaningful education that they can use to support their own families or get training on completing job applications, resumes and conducting interviews to get meaning ful employment so they can support their families. They are provided with free daycare and bus tickets and if they have their own cars gas vouchers or repair vouchers if their car breaks down. No one in my State is ever terminated for failure to do these things and they usually only lose those benefits when their youngest child graduates from high school if under 18 or turn 18 (unless still in their senior year and expected to graduate). Temporary is not a word democrats understand.
