Democrats and allied media are pushing a hard narrative that Elon Musk and his DOGE review team may have access to sensitive systems at the IRS, creating what they call “privacy concerns.”
In a letter Monday to IRS Acting Commissioner Douglas O’Donnell the lawmakers wrote that the proposal raises “serious concerns that Elon Musk and his associates are seeking to weaponize government databases containing private bank records and other confidential information to target American citizens and businesses as part of a political agenda.” (source)
The quote (emphasis mine) attributed to Senator Ron Wyden, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Finance, and Senator Elizabeth Warren, Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, is more than a little ironic.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz testified on April 27, 2023, that more than 3.4 million search queries into the NSA database took place between Dec. 1st, 2020, and Nov. 30th, 2021, by government officials and/or contractors working on behalf of the federal government.
Within that data set, approximately 30% of those 3.4 million search queries were outside the rules and regulations that govern warrantless searches, what the politically correct government calls “non-compliant searches.”
That means more than 1 million searches of private documents and communication of Americans were illegal. IG Horowitz also admitted that somewhere north of 10,000 federal employees have workstation access to conduct these searches of the NSA database; a database which contains the electronic data of every single American, including emails, text messages, social media posts, instant messages, direct messages, phone calls, geolocation identifiers, purchases by electronic funds, banking records and any keystroke any American person puts into any electronic device for any reason. {GO DEEP}

Years ago I interacted with the Greater Chicagoland Fire Chief’s Association. Got to know the respective 5 Stars well. Quadruple dipping was the norm. Another tidbit. The federal government has been sending state data indicating illegals are now U. S Citizens. I know that for a fact because they call local welfare offices to find out why their cash and food benefits increased (all of course with an interpreter on the phone paid for with our taxes). They are told because they are now U.S. citizens. They say they are not and get told they probably just moved or the documentation has just not reached them yet. Then they say, but I have never applied for citizenship status. The worker changes them back to undocumented and the federal database sends another code that auto updates them to citizen. The state then started preventing the workers from being able to change it back to undocumented. This has been going on for at least 12 years.

A number of years ago there was an illegal alien who had come into the country. We are talking late 80’s early 90’s. They had used a stolen SS # to obtain employment. They had worked for over 18 years on that number and had paid into the system handsomely. At some point after 2006 they went to collect, only to be told their benefits were being sent to the name and place of residence attached to the SS #. The person who’s number he was using had died right around the time he retired and his widow was receiving the windfall.
This guy went to a lawyer, who took it to an elected officials staff to inquire what could be done about the fraud! The lawyer tried to press charges against the widow of the SS# holder to give part of the benefits to the earner. Not a joke. It was hard to believe the story.
No one seemed to have a problem with the position they were taking on any aspect. I honestly thought the widow should have the check trimmed to real earning number and return overage, guy should be deported because he was still illegal. Lawyer should have his head examined for filing such. Staffer should retired. Elected official did have to resign but not over this.

Guess what? If Team Trump made an effort to educate the public with these facts then, all of a sudden, the msm will claim “we really can’t trust IG’s and don’t need them”.
The privacy argument stems from the Treasury checks deposited (with no codes) into their own accounts.
I would assume it’s the IRS who has the data on all the bank accounts those payments are going into. I would doubt it’s being sucked up by the NSA, who one assumes would focus more on online interweb and phone and location data. But the IRS probably gets data by law from every bank in the US. Those accounts will almost certainly be being scrubbed clean right now. Not the deposit data, but the withdrawal data, because that will show the start of the trail to the eventual recipient, which will almost certainly be in most cases, an offshore account in a tax haven subject to strict secrecy laws.
Social security and the US Treasury Dept are the agencies sending out the checks. They must have data who and where they send them to.
It’s not so much where the payments land, it’s what the accounts they land in do with that money once it lands. That’s the trail that needs to be followed. And that’s most likely to be with IRS data.

Death certificates are filed with the state but my mom’s social security was stopped immediately when it was filed. So somehow the state notified the SS Admin. The death certificate should automatically go to the SSA, registrar of voters, and DMV such that every database reflects the end of that person’s life.
I would guess these are fraudulent social security numbers. They’ve never been born, died or even existed.
I assume that your mother was a registered Republican? I was shocked at how quickly and efficiently the State of Washington removed both of my parents from the voter’s roll immediately after their deaths, but then, they were both registered as Republicans…
The protestations are lame. As an ex-federal employee, I have been notified on 3 different occasions since 2015 by OPM that my records with them were part of 15m that were hacked and I should take out identity theft “insurance”, check and verify my personal accounts regularly, etc.

Keep in mind that these fraudulent checks are OVER AND ABOVE the MILLIONS in fraudulent Child Credit and Earned Income Credit Checks that IRS actually ADMITS are written and fraudulent returns, for live people, they admit are KNOWINGLY PROCESSED EACH year. I recall this first PUBLIC admission being made in 2010.
IRS still sends (sent) the checks knowing fraud was involved.

As expected one arm of government has no idea what the other arms are saying.
Also as expected SSA data is way too high, about 4-6 million people too high per age bracket until you get up to the 70-79 level
For the oldest age brackets the gap widens substantially with SSA always too high. Census only tracks up to age 100.

Keep in mind the Undersecretary of the Treasury, who resigned recently, had a standard operating procedure of APPROVING EVERYTHING related to Welfare and Benefit claims.
