I just need to vent about the price of eggs. Went to my local store in a small northern Wisconsin town and the price of a dozen jumbo eggs was 11 DOLLARS! This was yesterday and I’m still in shock. What can President Trump do about this travesty? I know that we need to lower the cycles regarding PCR testing which they do use to test for Bird Flu. I absolutely reject the idea of culling a whole flock of chickens because a few birds test positive for bird flu. Why don’t all wild birds die of bird flu? We don’t kill all the wild birds and they survive.
Any Treepers have any ides that President Trump can do to lower the price of a dozen eggs?

Georgia,USA has been the poultry capital of the world for years until a few years ago when the plot began to kill off the poultry business here to diminish the food supply around the world. Eggs and chicken are the cheapest available protein for most people. Control the food, control the people.

Tractor Supply was one name that kept coming up.
I do recall that, but Tractor Supple only marketed what were, formerly at least, reputable products – the brickbats go to the corporate producers. BTW, it’s nearly Chick Time at Tractor Supply here in the northeast.

I have a question …. I’m in east central Missouri, pretty much in the country. I have seen what I think are chicken coops on farms and it looks like part of the building is tall like maybe a second story. There are windows in that area. Im wondering if it is for more sunlight for the chickens?

Two years ago, we got some day-old Americana chicks and raised them up and now have 9 hens and a rooster.
We feed them grains instead of the processed chicken feed with a large fenced pasture area to wander and a coop to keep them safe from predators. We preferred not to sell so as to avoid the meddling of bureaucrats.
We occasionally gift extra eggs to our neighbors who randomly returns the favor by gifting us with dahlias, hydrangeas etc.
We are already thinking it might be wise to raise other poultry like meat chickens and turkeys.

I have nine chickens and 13 ducks. The chickens eat bugs, the ducks keep the alge out of my pond, and the fish eat the skeeters. I eat the eggs (4 to 6 a day). The duck eggs are yolkey (dark orange hard shells) and an acquired taste. Once you have eaten fresh eggs you won’t buy store bought again. I don’t eat the birds, but if I had to I would. If you have to purchase scratch it usually is not worth the cost, but approaching a dollar an egg…it definitely is. A small coup of hens (roosters are protective but not necessary) can fit in a very small yard.
I’m in my 70’s now, but when I was a kid my mom prized duck eggs when she could get them – they made magnificent cakes! What do you do with your over-the-hill laying hens? Chicken stew and soup are traditional uses. I get local farm-fresh eggs on a weekly basis, not more than 2 days old, and you are right about the taste.
I did a side-by-side test with duck and chicken eggs. Anything baked was better with the duck eggs. Did not care for the duck eggs over easy, but my bloodhound loved duck eggs.

I dropped my egg consumption in half. They were a super-sized adjunct to my carnivore diet. More fish and chicken (canned tuna and wings) and calves liver and sardines to jack up my protein in the interim. I am already surviving on 80/20 ground beef when ribeyes went to $40 here in SWFL.
Careful on the fish sources, don’t want to overdo the mercury! I planted almond trees to get a free dose of protein in the winter when eggs aren’t laying

We should have been doing this all along, patronizing local producers. I’ve been trying to tell people this for years (literally) that you should buy your food as close to home as possible. The further away your food supply gets from you the less control you have over it. When I grew up we had local dairy delivered to us. Also had an egg man who lived in the area who would deliver eggs with his station wagon. He would come every week and drop off your eggs, same with the milk man :). Once large “supermarkets” started to take over the small guy was pushed out.
And the glass milk bottles were re-used.
And every house had a milk box, metal lined with door on the inside and one on the outside wall. Worked great.
STOP culling every flock with one case out of thousands of birds. This bird flu is not new and has been around for decades.
As someone with a backyard flock, I have given this a lot of thought.
First, I would use some of these farms with the bird flu as research sites. Study…
-how long do the birds have the flu (forever or just a couple of day)
– are the eggs safe
– is the meat safe
– how contagious is the flu (does it pass on to other humans and / or animals)
– after recovering, do the birds have natural immunity
Second, we need to develop a better test for detecting the bird flu in chickens.

But a chicken virus that represents one of the deadliest germs in history breaks from this conventional wisdom, thanks to an inadvertent effect from a vaccine. Chickens vaccinated against Marek’s disease rarely get sick. But the vaccine does not prevent them from spreading Marek’s to unvaccinated birds.
“With the hottest strains, every unvaccinated bird dies within 10 days. There is no human virus that is that hot. Ebola, for example, doesn’t kill everything in 10 days.”
In fact, rather than stop fowl from spreading the virus, the vaccine allows the disease to spread faster and longer than it normally would, a new study finds. The scientists now believe that this vaccine has helped this chicken virus become uniquely virulent. (Note: it only harms fowl). The study was published on Monday in the journal PLOS Biology.
This is the first time that this virus-boosting phenomenon, known as the imperfect vaccine hypothesis, has been observed experimentally.

I told my wife the other day, when eggs hit $12/doz is about what I consider a fair return on the effort of the farmers to produce those eggs. That of course is contingent on the farmers getting the $12 bucks, and not the middle man.
Speaking of eggs… I was in Target yesterday and encountered a customer who was distraught that they were out of “Carbon-Neutral Pasture-Raised Organic Eggs”. The sky is falling.

Saying this has marked me as a crank, sadly, but the last five years has convinced me and multitudes of others that official claims and numbers simply cannot be trusted. Testing my intuition against real experts, I commissioned a study from some serious data mavens who know this world better than I. They concluded that prices had risen at twice the levels admitted, that labor markets were weak, that output was low, and that we’ve been in technical recession since 2022.
We published that study and awaited the blowback and refutations. They never came. Not one communication to me took issue with the numbers. Not one expert wrote to say we had distorted anything. Not one person in a position to know pushed back on the conclusion. I admit that this spooked me. How many people know that the United States is in recession but simply are not saying for professional reasons?

As I reported with Berber Jin, Data Mattiloli and Josh Dawsey, Musk was blindsided by the announcement in the White House last month that OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle were teaming up to invest as much as $500 billion over the next four years in AI infrastructure in the U.S. The sneak attack was carefully orchestrated by Musk’s nemesis, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and his partners to ensure that Musk did not catch wind of their plans and scuttle the deal.
This past week, Musk responded with his own bombshell: a bid to buy the nonprofit that controls OpenAI for nearly $100 billion. OpenAI’s board rejected it Friday but the offer could throw a wrench into OpenAI’s attempts to shed its eccentric governance structure.
As Musk marshaled his forces over the past month, he and his associates asked potential investors a basic question: Were they ready to go to war against Altman?
The punch and counterpunch represent a significant escalation of what is turning out to be one of the most vicious feuds in the history of tech. I finally had an opportunity to listen to the JD Vance Munich speech.
We live in a time of great oratory. Together with President Trump’s Poland speech, the First Inaugural, and his first address to the UN, this Vance Munich speech will go down in history as a brilliant address.
Consider how operational this speech is on many levels. Calling the Europeans out on their tyranny is only the obvious, top level. He then delivers a number of kidney punches on their playing around with the word “democracy” and lets them know he knows the “insider” definition.
But what I loved the very most was his use of the word “luminaries” in his opening.

Not only does he know, he is not afraid to let them know that he knows.

I never would have believed it but I feel like I can say with confidence now that the Dems didn’t learn a thing from the election or from recent polling. Everything I see online indicates their intention to advance the positions on issues that only about 25-30% of Americans agree with, AND to demand that both Democrats and Republicans, as well as various media, and academic elites, continue to receive millions of our tax dollars for sham jobs, and foreign aid continues to fly out the door while natural disasters go unfunded and our homeless population soars. It’s so insane that it scares me: what exactly are they planning? What’s their game??

If I search whether a federal judge’s ruling in one state can be a applied to all states the answer is no. Why are we allowing judges in one state to force injunctions nationally. They do not have legal authority.
