Granted, a lot of people autopay their weekly church donations. But we go to an 8:30am Sunday mass in a mostly full sanctuary that holds 800 parishioners. The offertory bowl that goes around is nearly empty or maybe a few envelopes or bills in it by the time it gets to us.

I agree. Especially DOJ. The legal complexity of a lot of what was done during the Biden term might just take a bit of time to unravel. Why just act quickly because people are yammering for it? That risks making some huge errors. Better to get the lay of the land, review the whole dept and what has been going on and then start the process of eliminating, indicting and sending to trial all those who are in violation of our laws. There’s so many to go after and they need to do it precisely and concisely and get it right.
The devil’s in the details and the DOJ needs a complete clean out before real prosecutions can begin to roll out. Reminds me of the old carpenter rule: Measure twice, cut once. I’m not too worried about what will come out of that dept. or that they won’t get stuff done. There are good people working under Bondi that the Pres. put in place already. At least not worried yet anyway. It can’t be an unlimited amount of time either before things get moving.

1.Do you think that there is a reasonable check on the judicial branch of government?
I think we really need to start impeaching judges more. And not just for egregious things like bribery or corruption, but for completely violating the Constitution. There have to be guidelines set at different levels of the judiciary. A prime example is that judgement that came out recently, which tried to limit the job of Treasury Sec. Bennet doing his job. How does someone make a judgment that is so blatantly unconstitutional without any pushback? This is a big blind spot that I think many legal scholars need to think long and hard about.
2. I don’t see the point of term limits for Congress.
We already have a term limits. That’s why we come back every 2 years to re-evaluate these people’s progress. If we can’t do that, then the issue is with us. The Founders baked most of the solutions to these problems in the cake. Term limits will just make these people get replaced by the newest puppet of your choice. We already messed up the U.S. Senate by making them to be popularly elected rather than chosen by the state legislature. As you can see, attendance for these state elections is much lower than what it should be.
I agree with your point about term limits. Here in Michigan we have term limits, but it is disappointing to watch legislators graduate to be state senators, and then graduate to be congress critters. Some would say that this is weeding out the herd, but in reality, the ones who don’t win the election to the next higher office get appointed to state departments and become part of the apparatchik class.
So all we have accomplished is creating a career path for those not capable of working on their own. There are far,far, too few “citizen legislators” that our founding fathers envisioned to be found.
If we had term limits in my state, we’d lose one of our best people at the state level, and take a chance on replacing him when election integrity has not been achieved yet.

He clearly identified the dangers which subsequently occurred. Had the Founders intended “Article 3” to have powers of consent or interpretation over “Articles 1 & 2,” they would have created it. Purposely, they did not.
Andrew Jackson was in many ways also “a scoundrel,” but he clearly understood the powers of Article 2 and overtly exercised them. He also knew what the powers of Article 3 were not.

There is no indication of crimes by the judiciary at this point. That would require further criminal investigation and potentially a grand jury impanelment. That takes lots of time.
Impeachment is a legislative process. Any Representative can initiate that. But it would require Congressional leadership and the political will to propel the matter through, and some semblance of wrongdoing to support impeachment. Again, lots of time required.
An emergency SCOTUS decision on an emergency petition is already provided for under existing court rules. And that can be done relatively quickly under the circumstances. An argument can be made to support the urgency for a decision. That the DOJ can do right now.
It would not result in criminal prosecution or removal from the bench. But it would undo the present rogue decisions, and set a directive limiting the future authority of the inferior courts to interfere in the Executive’s Article II powers.
It is a double edged sword, however. It would also prevent a Texas or other conservative-leaning district court from halting an unpleasant Democrat Administration action in the future.
My personal opinion is that a district court’s inherent authority should be limited to its confining Circuit, and that a Circuit Court of Appeals affirmation, subject to appeal to SCOTUS, would be required to make a district court order nationwide in scope.
I just don’t think that any one of 650+ unelected district judges should have that much power. They are a pure creation of the Judiciary as inferior courts of judicial convenience.

During a government shutdown, these programs are not authorized, nor funded. President Trump has no choice but to terminate these programs. That means laying everyone off, and perhaps selling the buildings.

President Trump said publicly yesterday that he will abide by every judgement that is counter to his intentions. He will appeal every one, and I expect that he will succeed with the vast majority. Eventually.
Alan Dershowitz, a close friend of President Trump, who undoubtedly has been in contact, says, despite the fevered atmosphere, this is the normal way of things. Checks and balances. Dershowitz says that federal judges do have too much power. Judge-shopping is to be expected. That is routine. SCOTUS will only be involved when legally required. They will not step in pre-emptively. Dershowitz says Citizenship Birthright is the only obvious case that President Trump loses.
It is beyond frustrating. Pam Bondi will be busy. I hope she does not let him down.
I saw that. I hope that was merely a quip for the moment. But PDJT is a firm believer in the rule of law.
And should SCOTUS go completely off the rails on a major Article II confrontation, he would risk neutering the Executive if he blindly adhered to it.
This is where president trump is very clever. Quiet as a mouse, no fuss. If his team accidentally “ignore” a ruling for a while, bend the ruling a little, well, less likely anyone will notice. He will comply, as you say he follows the law. The federal judge threatening to jail President Trump is a blow-hard. Now that would be a pop-corn moment….
Personally, at this point I would simply do what Andy Jackson did. This entire “judicial overreach” thing stems from a SCOTUS decision, “Marbury v. Madison,” in which the Court simply undertook to rewrite the Constitution to suit its pleasure. Even Thomas Jefferson was shocked by this and spoke very strongly against it.
The Constitution barely defined the Judiciary at all. It certainly did not grant “power of review nor consent” to it. It did not give the Courts either the executive nor the legislative powers that they have since “assumed,” and this principle should be overturned. “You are not the President, and you are not the Congress, and you have no authority to tell either one of them what to do or think. They are “Article 1 & 2,” and you are “Article 3.”
Precisely why President Trump will win. Softly, softly. Infuriating I know. If a judgement comes down that is bizarre and even more bonkers than some passed already…Only then would there possibly be a more aggressive response. Something that tried to shame or mock or belittle President Trump, but I think something so ludicrous would quickly be stopped by the judiciary itself.
I have to disagree with Dershowitz. This is not “normal”. Yes, Presidential actions have been challenged before. yes, the lawfare crew is good at judge shopping but these TROs have gone way beyond “checks and balances”.

There’s a simple fix: DOJ should demand injunction bonds.
Under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c), judges can issue injunctions “ONLY IF” the suing party posts a bond to cover potential damages if they’re wrong. But guess what? This rule is hardly used!
The government has expert economists who can easily price out the cost of policies like birthright citizenship or wasteful spending. Price injunction bonds fairly, and frivolous lawsuits become a financial risk, not a free pass.
Without injunction bonds, the American people bear all the costs of activists and judges blocking the agenda they voted for. Why should activists and judges get to overrule the American people with no penalty if they’re wrong? Our system wasn’t meant to work this way.
For national injunctions, we’re talking bonds in the hundreds of millions or even billions. It will become prohibitive unless the activists have a slam dunk case.
If a judge tries to lowball the bond amount, it’s a quick and easy reversal given the unambiguous language in the federal rules.
This doesn’t block activists from court; it just stops them from using preliminary injunctions to pause government action based on arguments that might not hold up in an appellate court, despite these judges claiming ridiculously that they are likely to succeed on the merits.
Normally with a sensible judge, an injunction bond can be a good deterrent to frivolous actions.
But with a rogue or activist judge, that is the same judge fixing the bond amount. And they will dance right around that to enable the activist petitioner.
And in a couple of the activist district court injunctions this past week, the activist judge did apply a bond …
… of just $10,000. With tens of billions involved.
Wasn’t something like that done when they tried to shut down the 2020 AZ audit? I think once money was involved… something in the low millions, if I recall… the legal challenges stopped.

I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.
We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, Energy, Artificial Intelligence, the power of the Dollar, and various other subjects.
We both reflected on the Great History of our Nations, and the fact that we fought so successfully together in World War II, remembering, that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we, likewise, lost so many!
We each talked about the strengths of our respective Nations, and the great benefit that we will someday have in working together.
But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine. President Putin even used my very strong Campaign motto of, “COMMON SENSE.”
We both believe very strongly in it.
We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s Nations.
We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now.
I have asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Director of the CIA John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, to lead the negotiations which, I feel strongly, will be successful.

“Winning and losing” at this level comprises multiple factors.
Time and momentum are major factors affecting success, and “winning and losing”.
There is a reason PDJT completely blew the opposition off the field in the first 15 days. It was a blitzkrieg of action, overwhelming the opposition ability to respond or form a sustainable counter narrative.
Time and momentum were essential to that spectacular beginning. PDJT seized both, and still holds both.
PDJT is still doing an incredible job. And is still moving at incredible speed, on multiple fronts, here and abroad.
And most of his confirmed cabinet is supporting him. The two key Departments he requires for sustained success are a responsive FBI and DOJ. One remains uncontrolled, the other has been in Bondi’s hands for nearly a week.
The judicial roadblock was the opposition’s last defense. And it was completely expected (remember the Hawaiian judge of 2017?). It was PDJT’s soft spot, politically, but should have been planned for, not by PDJT, but by his DOJ landing team.
So my beef is not with DOJ and delayed prosecutions and arrests (as FBI remains uncultured), but with these expected judicial roadblocks that have yet to be addressed. The injunctions keep the bureaucracy imbedded, and active, in the institutions.
And it is affecting momentum and time.
PDJT does not have 4 years. At most, he has 1 year to accomplish the most critical objectives, and on a few fiscal and monetary matters, he only has weeks. That is his motivation for his historic urgency.
So wasting weeks on rogue injunctions that keep the hostile bureaucracy and its destructive spending entrenched, active, and undermining the Trump 2.0 revolution does affect ultimate success.
It delays fully seizing the institutions, a critical element of winning.
PDJT doesn’t need that drag on him. It is his AG’s job to watch his back with rogue judges, and keep the field clear. These issues and threats have been known of for at least 8 years.
The prosecutions and imprisonments can come later. But the judiciary can be addressed right now.
What would you say if PDJT had waited a full week to do anything after January 20?

You don’t need to take weeks and weeks doing this. The underlying activist petitions in some instances were drawn up in one day. And considered by the district court in hours.
In federal court, the usual response time, even for complex pleadings, is often as short as just 10 days.
When I handled appellate practice, with 2-3 associates assisting, we could bang off a complete appellants or respondents package in well under a week.
The DOJ has dozens of appellate attorneys to do this work, and would likely prepare an excellent and compelling work product in even less time.
Do you remember how fast things went in Bush v. Gore? Excellent and efficient lawyers can move these matters very quickly.
More importantly, the constitutional law is on PDJT’s side on this issue. SCOTUS has already nipped at the issue, and is receptive to directly addressing it.
No need to drag it out. Limit the damage, and let SCOTUS get to it.
Meanwhile, the malicious bureaucrats are still embedded in those institutions, resisting away.

Liberals have been packing courts for years with leftist activists, mostly with GOP support. As Lindsey Graham famously said, “if you want to pick judges, you have to win elections”. Graham has supported some really horrid judges as have most republicans.
This will pay very nice dividends as we proceed. Everything Trump does, including ordering lunch for his staff, will be challenged in court. It will be in a mud-bog for months and months, if not years.
Certainly just long enough to allow the GOP to give the house and senate back to the democrats in 2026.
