Unfortunately, the 20th amendment states that the president’s and vice president’s terms end at noon on January 20th. So even if we could inaugurate him at 12:01 am, it would be ineffective until noon.
Yes, but obstacles thrown up to impinge on a noon ceremony would be ineffective and moot as he would already be sworn in, their chaos having been preempted.
Right, the point being they could have inaugurated him last week, but it still wouldn’t take effect until the prior admin ends at noon on 1/20.
