I was never a fan of Jimmy Carter, but after he was voted out of office some of his staff ratted him out and among the things they revealed was something that might to some seem petty, but which, to me personally, defined his character and made me dislike and completely distrust his (already shabby in my view) record and forever dislike and disrespect him as a man and as a professing Christian.
I don’t know if you’ve ever heard this, but according to his staff, he liked to be seen carrying his own luggage, which, it turns out, was just a ruse. The suitcases he’d carry to and from Air Force One were always empty. They were only props used in a calculated charade for photo ops. Some staffers greatly resented being required to take part in the fakery.
Have heard quite a few stories about Habitat for Humanity. Carter would get a photo op, swinging a hammer. When the
cameras left, so did the actual labor. We had one of the Habitat homes built in my old neighborHOOD . The new owners
hadn’t even finished unpacking before they were dealing dope off the front porch.
Habitat for Humanity is one of the very few operations we refuse to do business with.
We’re in the building trade, and do community support wherever we can, but our experience with h4h has been consistently negative.
We don’t even return their calls, and it’s the only entity in 15 years about which I can say that.

Hard to put a coherent essay on religion without taking into consideration one’s basic prejudices and try to justify those in the religious context without examining the inherent prejudices one has based their particular religious practice upon.
Those stem from the old southern Baptist tradition going back to the 1930’s and 1940’s, when many were also members of the Ku Klux Klan so assimilated due to the times of one’s youth when we are most open to fully embrace and accept the assumptions of one’s pastor or local parish priest whom one’s parents hold up as examples of a virtuous soul the child should emulate.
So not saying his understanding didn’t ‘evolve’, just not when it came to Jews in the south of that time.

While he was being held his attackers told him to hold his pointer finger up to acknowledge Muhammad, and said if he did not do that they would cut that finger off.

A Very Good Lockdown Start!
I have been super busy for the last two days getting ready to host an inauguration party at an old, Art Deco theater. President Trump’s swearing in ceremony will be shown on the big screen, we’ll have a MAGA YMCA Dance, a ‘Wear the most Trump gear’ contest, and end with a pot luck luncheon.

I remember feeling sickened, angry and sometimes full of rage over what was going on in our country as the days rolled by, and I remember seeing and hearing and feeling all kinds of terrible, critical, perverse and shocking things while watching Sundance’s Resistance Day numbers change.
Reading a few moments ago, “LAST DAY!” [of resisting] I am full of joy, full of anticipation, and mostly full of thanks and praise to the Lord, God Almighty, for giving our country another chance of falling on our faces before Him and continuing to beseech His goodness and His grace on us.
Thank you, Sundance, for your steadfast resistance countdown. What an odd set of emotions I felt go through me remembering some of the highs and lows of those days, and now, seeing a new day dawning in that countdown — I look forward to running headlong into it!

There is NOT a Metro line out there. It is basically the first Maryland exit off of 495 right after the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
So either drive, carpool, or use the Eisenhower Avenue or King Street Metro stops and take an Uber to and from across the bridge
