Making the announcement Thursday, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson announced Arkansas Republican Representative Rick Crawford would be the new Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).
As chair of HPSCI the position automatically elevates Rick Crawford onto the Gang of Eight, the legislative group that holds information within the legislative branch at the same level of information as the President. Crawford now joins Mike Johnson, Tom Cotton and John Thune as the four republicans on the intelligence Gang of Eight.
Because of both the power and sensitivity of the HPSCI Chair position, the appointment comes directly from the Speaker of the House with no other member input. Crawford is Johnson’s personal selection.
Additionally, Johnson announced the following members are added to the House intel committee: Ben Cline (Va.), Pat Fallon (Texas), Greg Steube (Fla.), Claudia Tenney (N.Y.) and Ann Wagner (Mo.). Overall, a larger MAGA alignment on this very key intelligence committee.
WASHINGTON DC – […] The sea change on the panel is already triggering intense backlash from some Republicans on the committee and across the conference, who worry it’s a warning sign about the House’s willingness to stay independent of Trump. That’s to say nothing of Democrats, who fear the return of the partisan warfare that wracked the panel during Trump’s first term.
Unlike Turner, who has been an outspoken advocate for Ukraine funding and other muscular national security stances, Crawford is much more America First in his outlook. He opposed aid to Ukraine last year and was the only member of the Arkansas congressional delegation to oppose the certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral win in 2021.
Crawford is also seen as a team player for the Trump cause. He gave up his Intelligence seat for a time to Rep. Jim Jordan (Ohio), a veteran partisan brawler, in the runup to Trump’s first impeachment in 2019 so Republicans would have more firepower during televised hearings. He said at the time he wanted to “ensure the American people hear the full truth” amid allegations that Trump threatened to hold up military aid to Ukraine in exchange for political dirt on his political opponents. We are all going to need to watch closely how the 2025 legislative membership position themselves against the backdrop of the larger Intelligence Community. Crawford is a positive step; however, Crawford necessarily (to survive in the machine) has expressed his belief in the value of the FISA-702 authorities, so stay diligent.
Remember the example just yesterday with Mary McCord appearing before the Senate to undermine Pam Bondi. Not a single Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee called out McCord; not one. The absence of action tells us the Senate Republicans are still very afraid of the Intelligence Community (Six Ways to Sunday Group).
However, as a postscript to provide a cautious sense of optimism, I can confirm the lengthy information CTH provided yesterday about Mary McCord passed through the protective guardians around the president-elect, directly to the principal that matters. That’s another good sign.
Be of good cheer and live your best life,

Wolverine Strong!

-Sundance
.
PRAISE GOD AND PASS THE BUTTERMILK.
This is an answered prayer!
Here’s another…
Lord, please cause Sundance to join Stephen Miller and Dan Scavino. I’m hoping PDJT’s reaction to reading the McCord piece was, “who is this Sundance, why haven’t I heard of him before, and how soon can you bring him to me? I want to talk with him yesterday!”
LET’S GOOO!!!
(Imagine Sundance’s depth of knowledge re: silo’s paired with Miller’s strategic Wolverine mind. Geeez!)
.

Amen!
I get (and share) the enthusiasm, but…..
Who says they (PTrump and Sundance) haven’t already talked together, privately and away from prying eyes/ears?
I say this because it is known that some of PTrump’s children are known to frequent this site anonymously, and it is evident (to these eyes, at least) that some of Sundance’s work has been forwarded to PTrump in times past, based upon what I’ve seen him write, then what I have seen in the President’s conversation and decisions as a reaction later.
Food for thought…
Tasty as crunchy bacon pancakes.
Would SD become an anonymous consultant using his pseudonym or would he be required to reveal his name to the public if he joined the team?
I know it sounds like a silly question but would it be possible for Sundance to publish his investigative reporting and analysis here or would that be a conflict?
Would the lights go out here?
In any case the President and the country need Sundance.
“In any case the President and the country need Sundance”
The President and the country are free to read Sundance’s analysis
right here
As I’ve said before, several analysts should be assigned to read the Treehouse every day and summarize important content into concise bullet-pointed briefing documents for the President (1-pagers … better yet, half-pagers)
“However, as a postscript to provide a cautious sense of optimism, I can confirm the lengthy information CTH provided yesterday about Mary McCord passed through the protective guardians around the president-elect, directly to the principal that matters”. Great News!
That’s another good sign.” Yes it is! Now, let’s see what happens.
RINOy Crawford has a Conservative Review Liberty Score voting record of 65% or a “D” rating. Much better than Turner who had a 47% score or “F” conservative voting record.
BREAKING: Inauguration to be held indoors. Safety?

When I lived in AR, Crawford was my rep. Effin worthless. Never anything but a form letter response to the questions I would submit. District 1 is solid red, not a chance of running as an R and losing yet he would never stand up for fiscal sanity. Totally in the hip pocket of Big Ag.
I expect no less of a commitment to DC insiders in his new role. A “positive step”??? nope. Put Clay Higgins in this role and I’d call that a positive step.
It’s about time Sundance’ excellent investigative work he’s been doing since before 2016 has been recognized by those who can use it effectively.
Sundance, you are proof that one person can make a difference.
Political Parties are not an official function within the system of government as defined by the US Constitution.
The gang of 8 is a political construct as are any titles that reference the parties in terms of leadership or committee participation.
Just some things to keep in mind as you grow you understanding as the corrupt practices we see in public unfold. They are done “in public” because they think we think “this is normal, official and OK.”
Exactly. Fool the fools and you live large. Cuz the fools outnumber the sane and smart in every society.
I have thought about that simple fact hundreds of times. Each party is a corporation as organized. How could we not be moving fascist with 2 private corporations running everything?
Yes they are the Republican National Corporation and the Democratic National Corporation.
Very hopeful news that your sunshine directed on McCord’s dark role as queen of lawfare against President Trump has pierced the protective shadows and is shining in the inner sanctum. Well done.
In the course of my daily surveillance rounds, I dropped in at Liberty Daily and found this important story. I’d already read about the appointment yesterday, and wondered what it would ultimately reveal about the Speaker and his appointee.
When I saw the headline in the link I paused before I clicked, thinking ‘well…I’d have to check in at CTH to assess the reality based validity of this report.’
Then I scrolled over the header and it became evident CTH was the source.
I smiled. I already felt better.
Then I clicked.
Then I read, and then I found this: “…. as a postscript to provide a cautious sense of optimism, I can confirm the lengthy information CTH provided yesterday about Mary McCord passed through the protective guardians around the president-elect, directly to the principal that matters.”
Then I felt even mo’ bettah.
I love Wolverines. They make such good watchdogs.
link, pls?
went there and searched, couldn’t find it
Oh dang! I didn’t think to post the link yesterday and now it’s gone!
I apologize for that, nimrodman. I guess maybe it wouldn’t have mattered, since they took it down, but it would have been nice to have it here nonetheless.
It’s such an important story I can’t imagine why they’d take it down.
I’ll do better next time.
Didn’t think to do it before I answered, but I went back to yesterday’s page there and found it. Sometimes my brain works faster that at others. lol

Now…..about that missing binder……
“Remember the example just yesterday with Mary McCord appearing before the Senate to undermine Pam Bondi. Not a single Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee called out McCord; not one. The absence of action tells us the Senate Republicans are still very afraid of the Intelligence Community (Six Ways to Sunday Group).”
This just tells me that every single republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee is owned by the intelligence community!
Assuming so the real question might be why are they afraid…or owned?
Sundance, I appreciate your note that your insightful, well-researched information has reached the inner sanctum of PDJT’s orbit. IMO that is a very positive development in the effort, no the pressing need for those within that orbit to have their eyes and brains cleared of the fables emanating from the halls of Congress and the bureaucracy.
Trump should do more than read the story. He should make time for a presentation of the info where there can be an active Q&A and follow up.
Yes sir!
Way to put light on a filthy cockroach Mary McChord.
I hope the light you are shining on the traitor Mary starts to burn.
That traitor needs an investigation, so we can get the co-conspirators. Gitmo needs a whole new wing built into it.
Thank you Sundance for all you do.
