According to recent media reports, “as of Saturday morning, the Palisades fire, at 21,596 acres, was 11% contained and the Eaton fire, at 14,117 acres, was 15% contained, according to Cal Fire.” The fire outlook for Saturday is back at the “Critical” level for much of southern California as dry, gusty winds fan the flames. Winds are expected to pick up later Saturday into the night, raising the fire danger yet again.
Approximately 7,000 structures have been destroyed in the Eaton Fire, authorities said at a press conference today. The Palisades Fire has destroyed more than 5,000 structures, according to an early morning update from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
CALIFORNIA – The Palisades and Eaton wildfires have killed at least 11 people and destroyed some 12,000 structures as of Friday. Evacuation orders have been lifted in some areas as firefighters make progress on the Kenneth, Hurst and Lidia fires.
The exact causes of the fires remain under investigation, but they were fueled by extreme gusts from the Santa Ana winds. Winds Forecasters warn they could pick back up later this weekend.
Officials have identified the origin of the Palisades blaze fire behind a home on Piedra Morada Drive, which sits above a densely wooded arroyo. (more)

Faults in LA power grid surged in same location where wildfires ignited.
Faults along Los Angeles’ power grid surged in the same locations where three of this week’s massive wildfires are raging, a company that monitors electrical activity said.
Whisker Labs recorded sharp increases in faults in the hours prior to the Eaton, Palisades and Hurst Fires, its chief executive officer Bob Marshall told Fox News Saturday.
In the Palisades area, the largest of the fires, there were 63 grid faults in the two to three hours prior to the start of the fire, Marshall said.
There were also 18 faults registered in the hour it began Tuesday.
He also said there were 317 grid faults “in the hours preceding” the Eaton Fire near Altadena and about 230 that occurred before the Hurst Fire.
He said on a typical day there are few faults.
Although investigators have yet to determine the cause of the wildfires, sparks from faults can fall to the ground and ignite vegetation.
High winds can then carry flames at rapid speeds.
“What we cannot say … is whether one of those faults caused the fire. We don’t know that,” Marshall said.

I think that this is very admirable. I would add a few other restrictions:
The DEI hires (we know who they are) have to resign. Their local budgets must be rid of their wasteful pet projects. City and county “leaders” must all take a 50% pay cut.
I would prefer that the illegals who stay, work, and get the tax credit do not receive the tax credit (refunds on tax returns) until they leave the USA. Otherwise, they may spend the money and leave.
I love your ideas, but they will never get by #1. I live in CA. If somehow that happened, #2 is insurmountable. Even if implemented, it would only be followed until money flowed in. I could see them creating it, but once the money was coming in, they’d find many new shiny objects to spend that on. At the very least, they’d go back to neglecting proper forest management as soon as the money coming in was “beyond the point of no return” so to speak.

The 100mph winds and the abundance of dry underbrush etc certainly aided the out of control fires but it doesn’t explain the sources of ignition. The lousy electrical grid could account for some of the fires but the sequence of the 1st 3 or 4 fires doesn’t explain all of the fires esp those that started after the power was shut off.
Did the police provide details of why they let the man go that was holding a blowtorch and being angrily cornered by locaal residents? Who was he and why was he carrying a blowtorch? The power of self preservation leads me to believe that if any of the fires were caused by an illegal immigrant, (or other nut) every effort would be made to cover it up like they are trying to cover up every blunder, oversight and incompetency that they are responsible for but can’t hide.

Then career ff/emt in NV after affirmative action made it clear I “wasn’t what they wanted” in California. Whatever. NV was very good to me and had a great career until my career ending injury. Currently, there’s at least one task force from SoNV that headed to LA to help (task force = 5 similar type capable units), there may be more, I’m not sure.
Many don’t know why wildland fire does what it does or how. This is taught in wildfire management classes such as S390-Intermediate Fire Behavior. You learn concepts that affect fire, the big three: Weather, Fuel, Topography. Many subfactors affect each, but no one really cares (until times like this) and for sure there’s no profit in it at the grunt (public servant) level. Santa Ana winds are a well known factor and many fires have proved this. Point being fire will kick your ass if you set it up for success, which they have done a fine job of.
I am not hard hearted toward Californians, on the contrary I am praying for Californians that God’s mercy would bring them to saving faith and to restore them in humility. But I am certain that people who could not see what has been building for decades can not see the forest for the trees (pun intended). In this life there are hard realities, and natural consequences. God will not be mocked.
With all that’s going on with the two sides of evil and good I hope that many will see clearly the spiritual warfare that is raging and will bend their knee willingly and confess Jesus as Lord and savior. It is clear many have not and will not. It is humbling indeed but I fear God’s judgement is upon us. There is hope but only for those who choose it, and He has fore-ordained who those will be.
