Me thunks one should read the Laken Riley act before deciding it is a good piece of legislation. There are a few ‘not so good’ provisions” in it. Like State Attorney Generals and residents have standing to sue the Secretary of Home Land Security if any ‘resident’ of the state is falsely detained or ‘impacted’ by HS by more than $100 dollars.
I’m not a legal-beagle, but there seems to be a lot of slippery language and conditions in the S5 version.
Like every piece of legislation that “seems good for the people.” At this point, outside of bills that contain simple tax cuts, not one single of piece of legislation will ever be positive. Every single bill is a chance to screw us more, favor enemies further, and put us further in the hole on all the things we care about.

When I was a kid my Grandfather owned and managed large tree farms, these men would grow pines for pulp wood etc. They would regularly do controlled burns to clear the underbrush to protect the crops (trees) from a real forest fire.
Now to be fair these pines were planted in straight lines with fire breaks already cut in, but they would also use the same technique on wild forest they owned that would get out of hand with underbrush to prevent an uncontrollable fire.
This was S. Georgia – N. Florida and didn’t 100 MPH Santa Anna winds, but the same technique is pertinent for CA.
My point, management of forests has been known and practiced for centuries.

I’ve figured something out I think.
What is going on with Elon and Vivek over at DOGE is essentially a wealth transfer.
All this government waste they are cutting is debt.
For us it’s not good, but for them it’s gold, it’s data, that they then take to create their AI products to do what needs to be done, they turn this debt into more wealth.
And take note of who is doing this, getting this ‘job’ and who isn’t.
I guess this is supposed to be part of our ‘win’.
I’m thinking of this like what happened when we all watched the implementation of computer systems at work.
A room full of paper was disappeared into the computer.. so the paper was gone and the whole team of paper pushers we no longer needed, but the job went on using only a couple people now to run the computer.
The job didn’t go away, the paper piles and jobs did.. but what the office does for work went on.
Are Elon and Vivek now in the office, studying the problems and picking out what tasks on paper can replaced by AI in the same way that if you hire a guy to build you a tool, he needs to come to your workshop and see what it is that you do, he needs to study your process to see what this tool needs to be and do in order to build it.
Is this what Vivek and Elon are doing in DOGE?
This government debt they are tasked with cutting is debt to us, this is the carrot we all got.
But the debt is information, it’s data, it’s the raw product that turns into money at the end-and they get to build something to do with it.. so there is their carrot.
What we’re not seeing here is that the core mission of whatever it was that was cut is not going to cease to exist (is it?) it’s just going to be done in a more efficient way using a new system of AI that the ‘toolmakers’ Elon and Vivek will build and organize a new tool shop for.
I’m a simple person that operates largely on common sense and this is how it’s all looking to me.
Working down government debt is a great thing but it’s not the only thing..
The loss of our freedom is every bit as important as this debt problem.. this country has a whole lot of Constitutionalists that are actually MORE concerned about freedom losses than debt.
Are we going from antiquated old expensive government prisons to new fancy cheaper ones? and is this being sold to us as a win?
There are many of us here that were excited by DOGE not only because it will gut out this debt BUT because we naively thought that meant the program they gutted then went away which equates to more freedom for us, but is this true?
I’m not exactly sure the ‘program’ will in fact go away, the structure it was does, but not the core mission.
AND the new improved structure is likely even worse.
Cheaper and better at what it does if we never wanted that in the first place, this is not a good thing.

Nothing new here. Computers have been replacing paper pushers for years, like since the 60’s. All men are flawed and AI was created by man.
Efficiency requires change in how we do things. Look at Henry Ford and the assembly line. Jobs were transformed, not eliminated. Being in tech since the 70’s, AI does not scare me. (but lookout for Hal).
Just remember, there is always a plug on the computer. The thing to be concern about is elimination of power sources. Information is not the master control, energy is. Without the “gas” you are controlled. That included tradable goods, money, food, water…..

We can’t also forget that not only are Trump, Elon and Vivek experts in their fields of tech, real estate development and the such, maybe most important here that is not being talked about, these men are also experts on Finance and how wealth transfers all take place.

I think you might have missed quite a lot of the article. That phrase is towards the end of the first chapter… it goes much longer and is equally as good as that one.

They spent 7 months of bi-monthly meetings yakking and ruminating over basic provisions and wording in their new bylaws (all discretionary decisions already having been made) that I could have drafted myself in about 20 minutes. E.g. a condo board that I once represented similarly spent months arguing over what colors for the new pool umbrellas and pavers, gforbid they just give $1500 to a designer.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants NASA to relocate its headquarters from Washington, D.C., to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida’s Brevard County.
“There is an interest in moving the headquarters of NASA right here to Kennedy Space Center,” DeSantis told media on Wednesday. “I’m supportive of that.”
DeSantis said the current NASA headquarters in the nation’s capital is located in a large building that he says people seldom visit and a new building is being planned at a cost of about $500 million.
“Hopefully, with the new administration coming in, they’ll see a great opportunity to just headquarter NASA here on the Space Coast of Florida,” DeSantis said. “That’d be very, very fitting.”
DeSantis made his comments during an event on Merritt Island that heralded the formation of the Florida University Space Research Consortium.
The consortium combines the talents and resources of the Kennedy Space Center, University of Florida, Central Florida University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The consortium’s aim is to create advantages for NASA and the universities while advancing the nation’s and world’s space capabilities. Other universities have an open invitation to join the consortium.
DeSantis said the first American satellite in space, astronaut John Glenn’s first Earth orbit and the Apollo 11 mission that put the world’s first man on the moon all launched from Florida’s Cape Canaveral.
“This is really special ground when it comes to space,” DeSantis told media. “If you look at what we’ve done in the state of Florida, our ecosystem for space has never been better.”
NASA administrator Bill Nelson addressed the event via a video statement and welcomed the new consortium’s formation.
“This consortium will be an open door to even more possibilities for the researchers, the faculty and the students that have an extraordinary position here in Florida,” Nelson said.
The consortium creates “opportunities for research and funding, internships and fellowships … for teaching and learning,” Nelson added.

I always wondered how “climate change” actually starts a fire. MS CoPilot states “Generally, the ignition temperature for woody materials, such as trees, is around 343°C (650°F). This is the temperature at which the wood will self-sustain combustion without an external ignition source.” Has climate change caused temperatures in California to hit 650 degrees in the winter?
Speaking of climate change, I hope that at 12:01pm on January 20, 2025, President Trump will rescind FJB’s illegal agreement to rejoin the unconstitutional climate change treaty–a treaty that was never approved by the US Senate.

Here we go again.
The Southern part of California and much of the rest of the land west of the Rockies is desert — either technically or might as well be (in other words, it comes just over said thresholds on official precipitation amounts.) Add to this that the weather pattern in that part of the nation often produces wild-eyed winds (the gradient between the highlands and lower land, along with the ocean that is right there providing a “sink” for it) along with terrain that creates “funnel” effects multiplying windspeeds and its obvious that if anything gets lit during those high-wind periods you got problems.
As you might expect if you look around at the vegetation that does grow there you’ll find fire-adapted things. Plants that have fire-activated seed, for example. Nature finds a way, in short, and over millions of years has done exactly that.
Then we come in, we build things in places we believe are beautiful, and are unhappy when that which has been going on for millions of years occurs again. We claim its unfair, that something is “changing” (often at human fault) and similar.
Well, no. We’re simply in the way and it is we who have to adapt because nature will not.

Quiet under-the-cover payments to each of these Jurors will be quietly and eagerly accepted by them. They did what Big Pharma paid them handsomely to do. Easily worth many tens of millions of dollars per juror.

That’s the opening statement from the Grand Jury report.
And it’s not true.
Covid 19 was an nothing more than a formula (sequence, if you want) created in January 2020 out of whole cloth by a pseudo scientist who placed it on a piece of paper. That formula on a piece of paper was stamped as real and given life by a legion of pseudo scientists who who made a living by convincing the world the formula was alive and could kill. Fear was introduced and amplified. Fauci was one of those pseudo scientists.
The drug companies said they could recreate that formula handed them on paper, put it in liquid form and, so, develop a vaccine to counter it. They proceeded to use more psuedo science to create a liquid they claimed was a vaccine and stuck it into a whole lot of arms. . Then there were the results.
So, the history of covid 19 goes something like this: from a contrived formula on a piece of paper to a contrived liquid which was inserted into your arm leading to an avalanche of statistics conclusively pointing out what went into those arms was not good stuff. Is it any wonder?
Where is the guilty party in that chain?

This year’s Oscar nominations announcement has been delayed by 48 hours due to the deadly wildfires raging across vast swathes of the Los Angeles area.
It had been scheduled for Friday 17 January, but the stars and films up for Academy Awards will now be revealed on 19 January.
The voting for the nearly 10,000 Academy members, which opened on 8 January, has also been extended by two days, until Tuesday 14 January.

Next to Laura is an animated Obama seated next to Trump in a lively discussion with him, Melania is on the end. Kamala and her husband just walked in abd sat down in front ot them. I think Kamala looked at Obama to get a nod from him but he didn’t glance at her.
