With the full support of President Trump working the members, House Speaker Mike Johnson won the speakership again on the first round of voting with only Republican Thomas Massie voting against Johnson. This was the first test of Republican resistance to President Trump and the DeSantis House coalition, aka the Freedom Caucus, conceded their first defeat.
President Trump called Texas opposition member Chip Roy personally, to put pressure on him to stop opposing the MAGA movement. It appears the pressure campaign was successful.
(Washington DC) – In a surprising move, Mike Johnson managed to tamp down a conservative rebellion and secured the support to remain speaker on the first ballot Friday, after two Republicans who initially opposed him flipped their votes.
After a long break, Reps. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) and Keith Self (R-Texas) switched their votes to Johnson after initially backing others for the top House job. (more)
There’s a good background article on some of the discussions HERE. This is also a significant loss for the House Democrats and the left-wing of the UniParty apparatus. A prolonged speaker battle would have been good for their interests; however, President Trump intercepted the issue quickly and pulled Mike Johnson over the line in order to keep momentum moving forward.

Maybe Johnson will grow a pair now that PDJT is back.
Hopeful, but not holding my breath.
And perhaps some of the so-called America First representatives of We the People will wait until after the inauguration and confirmations to move on removing Johnson. I believe it now takes 9 members to initiate the process. Johnson is incapable of growing a pair…he’s been neutered by the See Aye A and needs to tow the UniParty line.
I think it’s more like Johnson will do as he’s told. Trump seems to think he can control Johnson.
I’ll guess we’ll have to wait and see who wins the influence game, Trump or the Intel agencies.
“we’ll have to wait and see who wins the influence game, Trump or the Intel agencies”…
…and/or the lobbying group(s).
President Trump is pragmatic.
The election needs to be certified on Monday for him to be inaugurated 2 weeks later.
The timing was off. There weren’t any other feasible candidates.
Trump’s the party leader. MJ is astute enough to get in line. Good enough. Now is not the time for dissension in the ranks.
No, PDJT does NOT control the Republican party, as the narrative that “a sitting President is his Parties leader.”
Like the narrative that a winning Presidential candidate “picks” his running mate, its just not true.
PDJT was manuevered into supporting MJ for Speaker, because the alternative would have been disastrrous, optically, proceedurally and otherwise.
Start from that point, in trying to interpret or spin what happened.
And, MJ RINOS obviously still control the rules committee, which as pointed out doubled down on Nancis move, going for not just 5, but 9.
Recall Speaker Johnson is totally a construct of,…MATT GAETZ!
DID he really accomplish anything, to strengthen or improve MAGA?
the Bush clan is strongly embedde in Texas, yes. But recall Jeb! was Governor of Florida…
jeb! and ron! are joined at the hip… jeb! allowed the Oxycodone Tsunami to unfurl on his watch! Never Forget!
I agree with you fully Dutchman, I just hope we do not get another Council On Foreign Relations member Speaker “NAFTA” Newt, Pedophile Dennis Hastert, Lyin Ryan, or the Kings McCarthy. I stand with PDJT and hope that MJ will fully support PDJT’s MAGA agenda. The Speaker is very important as I watched Newt sabotage the Republican Revolution of 94 and help his CFR comrade Billy Boy pass every treasonous trade deal and make sure he was not impeached for high treason aka “ChinaGate”. Gingrich & Clinton’s CFR BFF-traitors.
Given the circumstances, Trump chose Johnson.
He rolled over easily regarding the budget. Don’t hold your breath. Perhaps DJT will pay closer attention to how Johnson conducts himself.
Well, Johnson, the Christian, has the opportunity to stand on principle and be truthful and strong and faithful. If he isn’t, I pray God and MAGA will remove him like Saul was removed for a David.
Massie looks like a loser. Time for a primary challenge.
Massie is probably the only honest person in all of W.DC & we need more of him (He does have his alligator emoji flaws). We must remember that Trump is a man of New York City, so he supports some losers being from the armpit of hell. I fully support Trump, he is the man needed for this time, but he still supports the “safe & effective magical elixir” so he can’t be followed in blind faith. Trump is a tool & I am all in for it being wielded! I only have one God, Jesus Christ, Our Lord & Savior.
Massie rejected Johnson in favor of Emmer, ten times worse than Evil Mike.
Honest?
Not in the least.
“…ten times worse than Evil Mike…” you do have a point there.
Great point. The guy Massie voted for is a total RINO tool.
Meet it is I lay it down that one may smile, and smile, and be a villain. – Hamlet
Massie is an anti Trumper carefully gaming the people when he gets in front of a camera.
Ask Dana Loesch how she feels about Gassie and Chip Soy..
Oh brother, you do not know much about Thomas Massie.
He certainly is no gamer.
“He certainly is no gamer.”
wrong.
I watched it live on Television.
Massie caused me to and the rest of nation 1 1/2 hors of worry, because of his games.
he succeeded for awhile and gained nothing.
Crazy Massie wanted to sabotage Trump .
Exactly. Kevin, use the search bar in the header if you want to read historical posts & learn who Massie really is.
Not very respectful.
Please do good research on Rep. Massie, before labeling him and insulting the readers here.
Longevity will be our strength and hammer if we can hold it.
Wow! No wonder Republicans suck with folks posting drivel like this.
It is support PDJT 100%
Geesh…PDJT has and continues to go through Lawfare etc.
😟
I did like that Thomas Massie received an “F” grade for his stand re Ukraine!
From the Republicans for Ukraine website”
Thomas Massie – GOP Legislator Profile – Republicans For Ukraine
Rep. Thomas Massie
Kentucky · District 4
Ukraine Support GradeF
Very Poor
A “very poor” rating on Ukraine is “very good” IMHO!
Thank you SueJane, Thomas Massie is a man of principle. He is also brilliant and was the first to name Ray Epps in the J6 fedsurrection.
I learned from Sundance today that the Freedom Caucus is the DeSantis branch in the house. This knew this was the case for Chip Roy, previously chief of staff for Ted Cruz.
i remember that in 2017 Obamacare cancellation failed because the House Freedom Caucus bolted, and we still have this expensive albatross to this day.
The Freedom Caucus used to be the most honest, conservative wing of the largely RINO GOP House, under Labrador from Idaho. Now, it’s where posers go to get their “conservative” certifications. Guys like the Boise RINO who replaced Raul Labrador, Russ Fulcher. While Labrador was head of the Freedom caucus, Fulcher didn’t even bother to join for six or eight months (presumably, after his voters pinged him on it, but I don’t really know the background).
So, I don’t disagree with Sundance’s description of the Freedom Caucus, as now the home of the DeSantis GOP neverTrump coalition. They certainly act like it. I used to respect maybe a dozen or so GOP House reps. The rest were as reliable as any Democrat House member. They’re either left-leaning or entirely $corrupt$, but certain, they are not in D.C., the same people that they pose as to their voters at election time.
You do understand how this game has been played against us right? They LET some representatives buck party lines, specifically to activate them as agents of defeat during opportune times.
Massie has shown plenty of being a PoS
OK… here’s how that works. A member votes against the grain to curry favor with the masses. BUT… they only vote against the grain if, and only if, their nay vote will not alter the desire outcome. Outcome desired by the folks that are really in charge – not puppet(s) parading around on T.V. n’ such. We the people do not want to support Ukraine. So he votes against any and all funding KNOWING his vote will not alter the outcome(s). Hoping to pull the wool over constituents eyes. Had you vision checked lately? :>)
The folks really in charge know what he’s doing and their OK with it – just as long as it doesn’t alter their desired results.
Thank you for the explanation – an excellent post!
You are correct….and, the “favor” is returned, especially when it comes to funding pet projects for a state.
this^.
in addition, the act of using the denied vote becomes leverage for asks.
in this case Massie didn’t use the denied vote for leverage, which is an interesting distinction…he got nothing out of it. in this regard we might consider that a legit principled vote.
just something to think about.
Of course you could be right. With Massie, being in politics since 2011, I’m of doubtful mind that he is pure as the driven snow. His denied vote was worthless to the DC ilk. The value was, perhaps, with his constituents.
I’ve seen so many virtuous constitutionalist fall to the trappings of DC. Being a Texan, Ted Cruze comes to mind immediately. But… as noted elsewhere in these replies perhaps now is not the time for virtue signaling. Or could be a simple case of damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
Check out Tucker’s interview with Massie. He’s impressive.
.
But not too bright.
There is a time and place for everything and right now standing on principle instead of facilitating Trump into office isn’t it.
.
It’s the UniParty. It was Massie’s turn to play opposition to President Trump.
No, Rep. Massie is not a loser.
Please watch his interview with Tucker:
https://rumble.com/v50824n-tucker-carlson-interview-rep.-thomas-massie.html
…and then see what you think of him.
Also check out his voting record in Congress.
His votes support freedom in tis country, the US Constitution, and they support our nation’s sovereignty.
He lost is wife recently (not long after his interview w/Tucker) under what seem to have been odd circumstances. I never read or heard a word (other than rumor/innuendo) as to what she died of.
He let the omnibus out of committee. He could have stopped it.
That is what I have trouble forgiving him for. Good point!
Complicated business. Mike has a lot to prove, I hope he’s not another Paul Ryan.
Oh, Mike is. Now, we need to play the next hand.
The House Fraud’em Caucus sucks.
I’ve never been a fan of Johnson, but this vote was about Trump putting his political capital on the line to avoid chaos and delay of the MAGA agenda. It then becomes an easy call. I previously took Massie as he presented himself, on his own terms. No more, he had no viable candidate, and was willing to throw Trump overboard. He’s now on the same level as all the desperate DeSimp influencers.
If Messie had been successful, it would have been terrible for Trump’s agenda.
I think most of us would have liked to see a stronger alternative than Johnson, but who?
We have to go war with who we have, while looking to upgrade where we can.
And now was not the time.
I hope there is a govt shutdown in the next 3 months.
I expect the Senate doofi will delay delay delay confirming Trump’s picks for cabinet offices. The delay game works as long as there is a functioning congress.
Shut the thing down, recess appoint all the boys and girls Trump has selected, and let’s roll.
1st priority is to federalize laws about congress elections/ballots etc. The theft each eoection is more and more blatant. Time to put that pest away, for good.
Massie just attempted to fo what Gaetz attempted to do.
This whole thing was scripted, to force PDJT to firmly support Speaker Johnson, a Matt Gaetz production.
EVERYTHING you see, is scripted and choreographed for C-Span, like a WWF fight sequence.
I wish I could see more clearly Dutch. Sometimes I’m not even sure what I am supposed to be rooting for except the basics: God‘s will be done.
I have no confidence in Mr. Johnson…quite the opposite…another Lucy with a football
So the question is…..why does Trump back him?
The SotH will be Uniparty. End of.
Why fight on that ground?
Johnson has not proven himself to be reliable or supportive of what’s right.
That’s why. And because he’s Trump. End of.
No, again, the SotH will be Uniparty. End of.
See for yourself.
The House is Uniparty so is the Senate.
How do we get constructive behavior out of them you ask?
Targeted Boycotts of their oh- so -lucrative investments and businesses.
Nearly everyone of them has at least one business and most have fabulous portfolios..
We can shape policy faster than any Legislative or Executive Body
Because he has work to do and replacing him is a fantasy.
An especially impossible task just before the certification of the election.
Hakeem Jefferies would have been the likely consequence of foolishly throwing down prematurely.
Kind of a weak reason tbh
Politics is the art of the possible.
Oh, you’d rather undermine Trump AND risk a Dem Speaker?
No, its the only reason.
Well, for the time being, he has to make it past Inauguration Day and there is only that one way forward.
Also needs the certification on the 6th.
The inauguration also matters because it will impact how people feel. President Trump wants us to experience the inauguration with him. That’s when people will “feel” he is the President.
Let’s suppose now that after Trump is installed, the House under Republican Heads of committees, relentlessly investigates and exposes the corruption of the dems (and rinos) during the previous 4 years.
When the average Joe discovers how utterly corrupt that crew was, the election in 2026 should bring in 50+ conservatives. Let the lefty commie dems and their lickspittle rinos eat cake. (“cake” back then was the ash residue attached to chimneys…for those of you who imagine cake was tasty.)
It was simply a practical decision as certification of the election occurs on January 6th and without a Republican speaker, there were concerns that the democrats were going to try to not certify the election. the Republicans would have been in chaos without a speaker if that happened.
Right on the nose, Eve. It’s a matter of practicality to expedite the certification process…political chess.
Maybe read a few more logical commenters here at the treehouse. Best!
There was no other choice. No one else has the votes! We could have ended up with a Democrat speaker! Our majority is so small. That’s why the democrats stole so many house seats! Maybe Trump feels he can control Johnson.
That is why Republicans intentionally undercut all MAGA candidates, and worked to insure a razor thin majority.
Remember, before PDJT was elected, Republicans had a 40 seat majority in the House, and Ryan intentionally threw it away.
In 2022, McCarthy starved good MAGA candidates of $ and support, as did State Republican Parties, insuring Majewski, Mastrianno, DePerno, etc. lost their races, with the goal of keeping out any true MAGA from Housebor Senate, and in 2024 countenanced the Dems stealing of House seats with excessively long counting and “ballot curing” in Cal. to insure the razor thin majority.
And, IMHO Gaetz insured McCarthy would get in as Speaker (rememeber “he’s a hoor, but he’s our hoor!” and then when McCarthy had outlived his usefulness, having backstab us on everything, Gaetz staged that motion to vacate, and installed McCarthy 2.0, aka Speaker Johnson, amd then got out of dodge.
Its ALL staged, like a WWF wrestling tournament.
Surprised they don’t hit each other with chairs.
Bread and circuses..
In my world, metal folding chairs would be a welcome addition to the Legislative process..
Because not voting for him would have caused delays
and possibly delay the certification which takes place
on Monday..
Trump is pragmatic. He probably would prefer someone else, but knows only certain candidates can realistically win.
Ryan: He had no other option, is my read on it.
Really? And how would have another fight for speaker went? Open the eyes a bit and the President only has about a year and half to get his agenda across. He wants to hit the ground running.
Speaker Mike Johnson Win Signals First Lost for the American People and a big win for Zionist Occupied Governments.
There… fixed it for you.
and congress will continue wasting/spending money we don’t have and the dems will get everything they ask for…time for term limits, no more than 12 years total, no grandfather clause…..we can get rid of over 80% of congress at one time….NO pensions, etc……time for an overall in congress…..trump ain’t getting anything he wants, these dickheads will over ride any veto….time to defund congress….
I believe that any reelection is poisonous.
Single term rotation. Like a jury pool.
I posted much the same. Defund Congress by massive boycott on their investments and family businesses.
They will “get their minds right” quick, if not send them and their families to the Poor Farm.
Trump cut this off at the pass after dealing with the traitor-ist snake Paul Ryan. Massie has me confused. He doesn’t need money, power, or fame. MIT grad. Has numerous patents. Cattleman. Grass roots politician. 3 kids & deceased wife. Built his own house & watering system. Not the typical poli seeking power & money. I hope our portrayal of him being a DeSantis lackey is wrong. That’s just me.
Some idea of Massie’s campaign chest…Morning Star is one of them. I do not believe this covers any PACs.
https://www.opensecrets.org/members-of-congress/thomas-massie/summary?cid=N00034041
I thought he was very much a man of honest conviction and quite the patriot.
Massie is did throw his weight behind DeSantis, but there are issues Massie was one of the first people to tell Trump not to pass that bloated Covid bill and got excoriated for it by Trump. I don’t always agree with Massie, but he is a man of principle in a sea of people who have nefarious motives.
We’ll see if Johnson is as committed to the cause as he says….
.
He COULD have come out and said that he doesn’t support what Johnson has done but priorities, so he’s voting for him because there’s neither time nor a realistic alternative right now.
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
.
Donald Trump excoriated Thomas Massie more than any Uniparty person that has ever lived. I agreed with Massie and disagreed with President Trump. When President Trump said that Hillary Clinton should be locked up, that was just for show. When President Trump called out Thomas Massie he was as serious as death.
Massie may MAY be a much more clever congressman than any of us have ever seen in our lifetimes.
I am always optimistic that things (political) that make no sense are reasonable and even brilliant when considered from a different calculus than we are aware of.
Massie is a super bright guy. Listen to any podcast where he can talk uninterrupted for 2 minutes and you will agree.
Perhaps he and Trump orchestrated the entire event. ? So I would like to imagine.
A kerfuffle, issue in doubt, Trump drags a cripple over the line, perhaps in a minor, favorable bargain.
‘Bout the best Trump could do here.
Let Massie be Massie, for now.
Massie may be suffering from grief.
Looking at the mess FJB is leaving for the adults to clean up, having a wounded dove flopping around in the House right now is exactly what’s NOT needed! I’m hoping we learn who has been behind the curtain pulling FJB’s levers.
This new reveal to Sam Shoemate from our now deceased Vegas Trump Tower Musk Cyber Truck bomb driver, Matt Livelsberger may help: (newest on Shawn Ryan Show podcast)
Shocking, if true. It’s about the US/CCP anti-gravitational driven Drones and a possible FBI cover-up for the driver’s death.
Massie wasn’t wrong, we just had to work so hard to get here today. If Johnson keeps screwing up, he’ll be easy to gt rid of. Next time, Massie needs to have a replacement named first.
The problem with replacing non-performing RINO house speakers seems to be a lack of interest on the part of those who might do the job better. And now, it will take NINE of them to oust future speakers.
The question is, why would Johnson deliberately screw up with that bill? He knew he was flaunting the base. And then he acts like oh we’re all working together. I think he’s dangerous and I think he’s weak and I think he’s compromised. Maybe he doesn’t care what Trump thinks of him or what do you think of him?
Guaranteed the time will come when Johnson will stab MAGA in the back. Trump can’t be transactional this time. He needs warriors, Johnson is pathetically weak.
First, let’s get to January 7th, and then January 20th.
To all you Fair Weathered Republicans in Congress:
WHEN IS THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY GOING TO COME AROUND THAT YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A CHANCE LIKE THIS TO WIN FOR THE USA?
IT WILL NOT BE IN YOUR LIFETIMES, IF EVER!
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!
LEARN FROM PRESIDENT TRUMP!
OUR SURVIVAL-OUR LIFE, LIBERTY, AND OUR PROPERTY IS AT STAKE! AND, BY THE WAY, SO IS YOURS!
This whole episode was Politics 101. It’s gratifying to see that President Trump has a much better grasp of the political “Great Game” than he had in 2016. For those attacking or defending Massie, think about the fact that without his objection, President Trump would not have had the chance to bring into the open the whole power struggle around Johnson. It was well played, seems to me.
PDJT nominated his Administration early because he knows it is going to be a battle. Should be fast confirmations as only need a majority but the Ds and Uniparty will drag and fight every step. Need to get things done before the mid terms, there will be an all out cheat for that one.
Still unspoken is the excuse by Mike Johnson for conspiring behind Trump’s back and lying about his secretly cooperating with the scoundrels trying to shove through that last minute abomination of a CR which Musk helped to kill. (Thank God !)
I do not trust Mike Johnson as far as I could throw him. He says one thing and does another.
I trust non of them, would love to see real statesmen, but still hold skepticism. The point of the last debacle was to return to regular order..committee debates to hash out & pass a real balanced, lean budget- not seen in more than 60 years. Also congress should live by same rules as populous, eg no pensions, they get a 401k with a 3% match, and the same medical insurance that they pony up for the premium as most employers offer. They must set aside investments while serving and are verboten from the lobby swing door for 10 years.., along with term limits. There all pigs feeding a trough – and
Funny, I don’t feel especially good about this “victory”.
We shouldn’t. Massie isn’t wrong, and I hate that some now want to vilify him.
Both Trump and Massie can be right here. I believe they are.
It seems as though Johnson has some serious skeletons in the closet, and probably knows innately that if whoever holds those decides to tighten the thumb screws, the only person who could possibly negotiate on his behalf is PDJT. And he would be right.
It’s better than a Democrat speaker who will impeach Trump for nothing again.
Maybe when your presidential election is certified, you will understand.
Trust that there will be many who will never understand, because “my principles” or something.
It never ends…….
I know. Humph! LOL!
Ortagus has nothing to do with Johnson.
She has everything to do with Witkoff and the fright that Graham, Rubio and the Senate IC committee have over a non-confirmed Presidential envoy.
As far as I know, there is no such thing as a deputy Presidential envoy.
“The freedom caucus”. What a joke.
I like Massie. I like his story. I like his stance on Ukraine but sometimes he makes bad decisions and aligns himself with not so good people.
He is also the only House member who does not have an AIPAC “handler”.
Morning Star seems to give Massie money.
See my post above.
So who exactly did the lock step d-bag dems want as speaker? What makes the dem constituents think they are being represented by their congress critter. Maroons all.
We need to build on ’24, and grow our numbers towards the future.
I’m sorry. None of this is meaningful. Johnson’s past actions tell me all I need to know about the guy. He’s called “No Johnson” Johnson for a reason.
It’s a loss for RDS but we still have the Vance, Thiel, Musk, Ramaswamy et al movement to take down.
Money and control should never matter more than MAGA, our Constitution and right to privacy.
Heres more surveillance already coming our way.
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/01/pay-attention-new-surveillance-cameras-driving-breakthrough-technology/
Mike Johnson is all in for war in Ukraine. Hope that is not on President’s Trump agenda. Not one penny for the forever wars.
You may well be right; however, he won’t be the one making the support decisions. I think President Trump will have a heck of a lot more power deciding the approach to end this war.
Our only realistic option is to surrender and get out. VSG will not want to associate with losers.
A win is a win I guess. But I’d feel a lot better if President Trump wouldn’t stand quite so close to Mike Johnson. Caesar made a similar mistake.
IF Johnson didn’t win, we’d have a long, intentional battle by the dems and never Trumpers to delay Trump being inaugurated and sworn in.
Johnson is the lesser of two evils.
Almost sounds like President Trump (never tired of typing those words) is also the defacto Speaker of the House. If Johnson pulls similar crap to the last CR, MAGA and the new media (X and others) will do the same thing we did then. He needs to understand that. I think that got his attention; however, in order to hold that attention we will continue to have to hit over the head with a figurative 2X4.
Keith Self (TX-3) is my representative, centered mainly on Collin County, TX.
There is a move afoot to re-gerrymander TX-3 as well as more than a few not happy with some of Kieth Self’s votes v/v matters impacting President Trump…who would have no qualms primary-ing his butt … last election the TX-RNC put up enough vote splitters to save him from serious competition and President Trump endorsed him.
His conservative report card don’t mean squat to me because of the votes he made that actually mattered.
President Trump “called him” before he changed his vote. If he were really MAGA as his adds claim, the call would have been unnecessary as he would have heeded President Trump’s public endorsement.
Besides his votes vs President Trump … I still do not like him due to the manner he was essentially “appointed” by the TX-RNC to replace Van Taylor who was forced to quit over a fang-fang with an ISIS Operative…in a contrived 3-way run-off vs a really good competitor.
Let’s see what he does after 20 January.
As a local TX-RNC member told me … Self is backed by big money within the TX-Republican party and will be hard to primary.
Thanks for the detailed background. Sounds as if he’s supported by the Dade/Perry wing of Texas RINOs. We’ve got a lot of work to do here in Texas this year.
I knocked close to 1k doors for Keith Self after Van Taylor voted for the J6 commission. If I had known Self would be a saboteur, I would have let Van Taylor win. Keith Self is a total disappointment.
Sounds like the Tejas Republican’t Good Ol Boy Network rivals that of Georgia and the Gunshine State!
That demented woman lives for two things: To self enrich and to destroy.
It is often wiser to pick and choose the times in which you wish to stand for your beliefs. Considering that January 6 is just a few days away, Massie’s ‘honesty’ did nothing to enhance his position, and left him as an isolated member of the Senate. Bad timing to make the election of the Speaker an issue.
I agree with Margie here. Trump has more leverage (don’t know the specifics therein) now, or is using leverage he already had at a time he thought was most advantageous. These guys “growing a pair” or having a “change of heart” is rather unlikely, nigh impossible. It’s now down to winning and I suspect Trump has cards we can’t see; might even be the case with Morgan Ortagus. We can hope, no?
Too many people have forgotten that Massie is a huge DeSantis supporter. So is Chip Roy so I’m surprised to see him bend the knee. I always believed that Massie’s opposition was more about harming PDJT than being about “muh principles.”
Massie is a contrarian, which I can respect. He has never and will never vote for the SotH fav. We need contrarians out there.
Contrarians always lose elections.
He’s won his elections.
The Uniparty wants to destroy him. Do you as well?
PDJT47 has to work with the tools at his disposal, not the tools he (we) wish he had.
Johnson now owes his speakership (and probably his political life) to PDJT47. That might come in handy, no?
Remember, we’re not dealing with people of principle. They will say and do anything to keep their highly lucrative seats, including Saint Massie of Kentucky.
I am hopeful that the days of funding the government by CR is over and Congress, (forcibly) led by PDJT47, will return to the regular budgeting process.
Speaking of Ron D., I saw him on TV sitting halfcourt at Rupp Arena watching his Gators go down in flames to the Wildcats.
Sorry Ron, you just keep supporting the wrong team. Sad.
Well, Hakeem said they would fart very hard, so theres that! (He meant to say ‘fight’, but it clearly came out as ‘fart’, lol.
Seems to have been the choice of several evils. Unfortunately its not the time to in fight. Perhaps Johnson will actually show us how a Christian conservative should govern.
Johnson will govern as Israel first then the United States. Israel is the apple of God’s eye. The United States, nor any other country, gets that appellation from God.
Massie is from Kentucky. 🤔
Massie is our Rep (KY-4) and I’ve gotten sideways w his office/staff more than once. In hindsight, nearly every one of those incidents proved him more right than I was (i.e. Financial Crisis bailouts, covid “emergency” funding). I believe he is a truly principled man and yes, he is also smarter than most of us.
My negative impression of the “Freedom Caucasus” started in 2017, when President Trump first took office and called the Republican Congressional Caucasus’ Bluff with an initial legislative slate filled with the STATED positions of the “Republican Congressional Caucasus” in opposition to Barrack Obama for 8 years….as well as the Tax Cut battle with Congress.
The Freedom Caucasus (House and Senate), at that time for all their BS bravado, stood against President Trump in the media and provided little if any help during the actual votes.
JS, if Johnson is so awful, then name the congressmen/women w whom you’d replace him… negotiation always shows that if you’re going to lodge a complaint, then back it w at least 2 viable solutions.
complain you much…
Haha, your meme reminds me of “stay out the bushes”!
Now that Mike Johnson is reelected Speaker of the House, perhaps a makeover for him is in order. When Mike was on the campaign trail, I noticed he wore cowboy boots under polyester suit pants. I don’t know about the customs in Louisiana, but elsewhere that could be viewed as challenging.
His Italian-Chinese frame glasses are too small and give Mike a wet-behind-the-ears look. His shirts are bland, and Royal Blue is not a color that works well for his jackets.
Mike Johnson could set a new fashion example and wear Made In America clothing and accessories. He could begin with Oxxford wool suits with natural shoulders, 100 percent cotton shirts and silk ties from Brooks Brothers, Allen Edmunds wing tip shoes, and Shuron Browline frames. A new watch, from RGM in Lancaster, PA could complete his ensemble.
In his new attire, Mike could wield the gavel with confidence, looking his best.
Interesting comment, lol. I actually think Polly Pockets Johnson’s appearance is quite calculated, from his hint-of-blush skin tone, to his extra special eyewear, to his custom-fitted suits, to his “earnest” demeanor. All calculated. I suspect what’s underneath the surface is very much not what we see in the public version of Polly Pockets. Don’t trust him. Don’t like him.
A Speaker of the House vs. a house keeper:
A housekeeper keeps households neat and orderly and tosses out the trash.
A Speaker of the House sows disorder and leaves behind a pile of trash.
Rep. Massie did not vote “yes” to Mike Johnson, because Rep. Massie is the only member of Congress who does not have an AIPAC lobbyist “person/guy/babysitter”…as Massie explained to Tucker Carlson in an interview:
https://rumble.com/v50824n-tucker-carlson-interview-rep.-thomas-massie.html
The influence of Israel and AIPAC on the US government can be seen in this engrossing video:
The “Freedom Caucus” is in the DeSantis camp? As Johnny Carson would say, “I did not know that,” but that’s why I visit CTH regularly, i.e., to learn the intricacies of DC alignments, etc; and it helps put lipstick on the pig I considered Johnson to be; nevertheless, I did not see how a protracted fight for the Speakership could help President Trump.
Immediately after the November victory, GOP (and, if one may say so, even our beloved President) made a mistake getting celebratory too soon and not following each of the remaining House races with bloody obstinacy, armies of lawyers and even legal threats of investigating each and every of the House (and the few Senate) races which were obviously STOLEN by the Party of pedxxos, thieves, and murderers, a.k.a 0bolas, Clintons, and Pelosis…. but I’m repeating myself.
Imagine how much better it would have been to have two more senators and five congressmen on the MAGA side. Time was of the essence, and it’s been squandered.
One picks the flies out of the soup, one at a time. Sundance helps clarify the situational position, and all the opinion elsewhere is simply antidotal thought. This is a new paradigm, rules do not apply, and Trump has volumes of information,
to work from. Our work is to support him, as the fear of him was exposed in Penn.
Lets boost morale by pretending Clowngress is not one big UniParty.
I tend to lurk here due to not being die hard on Trump. Not a die hard on any politician. All I want is the US to be an isolationist and true Republic. I like Massie. He’s an isolationist. Nor do I care who he voted for speaker, since it was always going to be a throw away vote. What is annoying me is how MAGA diehards here have developed the liberal name shaming tactic. Being called a name is an honor of independence. You guys calling someone like me a RINO is hilarious. Still watching my own side acting like lefty bullies is sad.
Many of us watched Johnson at the end of last year as he lied, refused to do a proper budget process and tried to give Dems everything in a larded up CR. We also saw him refuse to deal with FISA renewal in a way that would have reined that in. We remember. as far as I was concerned, those two things were worth his ouster. So now it takes 9, Johnson will be watched and any other refusal to do the will of the voters, I hope will be met with his quick ouster. Americans did not vote for more business as usual which is the game Johnson was playing.
