There are many people who only became aware of Elon Musk after he dropped Ron DeSantis and took up a position in support of President Trump.
Most of those people do not have a reference for Musk complying with the platform control demands of Brazil, France and Turkey [Durov (Telegram), and Pavlovski (Rumble) did not].
Most of those Pro-Elon people also do not have a reference for Musk claiming he and his legal team did not know former FBI Chief Legal Counsel James Baker was the legal counsel for Twitter at the time of the purchase, until after independent journalist Matt Taibbi was researching the Twitter Files and complained about Baker filtering information. {GO DEEP} Musk fired Baker, and eventually, Musk kicked Taibbi out and shut down the Twitter File reviews.
Additionally, almost all of the Musk supporters do not know about Elon Musk giving the DOJ/FBI user data of all MAGA accounts following Donald Trump on the Twitter platform. {Go Deep}
Taken as a whole, this is a small portion of the context that explains my long-standing issues with Elon Musk, who has now seemingly achieved demigod status as an untouchable elite in the orbit of President Trump according to those who support him.
The issue with the transmission of user data to the DOJ/FBI is not an issue of Elon Musk complying with a subpoena; the bigger issue was Musk simultaneously telling the public that Twitter user data was secure and would not be compromised by government.
At the same time Musk was saying the platform and user data would be secure from government intrusion, he was sending the FBI/DOJ all of the metadata for Trump supporters on Twitter. That was/is a big issue that many now pretend not to remember.
To be fair, at the time of his public statements, Musk was not supporting Donald Trump. In fact, he was intending to use his platform to elevate the status of his favored candidate, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. As a result, Musk had no motive or intent to impede the effort of the DOJ/FBI targeting of President Trump or his supporters. However, that doesn’t change the reality of what took place.
Setting aside all of the financial issues in/around the purchase of Twitter -which are numerous- the real issue behind the metadata was Musk saying something false; while knowing he was complying with government. This was a point when Musk’s integrity on these matters was revealed.
Beyond the H1B visa issue, this history is part of the reason why many people are concerned about Elon Musk’s proximity and influence with President Donald Trump.
Just as President Trump is likely unaware the full scope of what Pam Bondi did in George Zimmerman case to support a false witness, so too is President Trump likely unaware of Musk’s involvement with the DOJ/FBI to send them MAGA targeting information. Quite simply, there is no one in President Trump’s orbit who would ever share these specific details.
Elon Musk was also an attendee at the 2016, Sea Island summit in Georgia – the original assembly of 54 billionaires who agreed to work together and fund the “stop Trump” movement.

I don’t think so. I think he’s probably a bit stunned at the backlash. Afterall PT made his stance on H1B clear years ago, but there wasn’t any backlash. We stuck with him.

Musk is worth at least 250 Billion dollars. 250 Million would be 1/1000th of his money. A normal American is worth about 200 Thousand dollars. A contribution of about 200 bucks would match his contribution as a percentage of his wealth.
Keep in mind that people worth about $200,000 may be watching every penny they have so they can afford to retire some day. Musk has his comfortable retirement already worked out with a very small percentage of his wealth. It is possible that the entire financial model of X is fundamentally different now that xAI exists (though the following may have ways been the plan). One of the difficult aspects of creating a useful large language model like ChatGPT or Grok is creating a large, up-to-date, labeled data set for training and validation. The X platform is essentially crowdsourcing this difficult task. Some aspects of X that conservatives have celebrated, such as community notes, may serve a double purpose in this regard. The community notes are crowdsourced labels to indicate “ground truth” for training AI models, which is the most expensive and difficult-to-obtain aspect of the training/validation data because it requires actual human feedback to label what is true (generally from multiple humans to ensure accuracy). This would be similar to how those “captcha” challenges are crowdsourced labels used to improve OCR for Google Books scans and such. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the boosting/monetizing algorithms of X are in some way optimizing the crowdsourced dataset for the downstream truth or persuasiveness of the AI being trained on it. If one were maximally skeptical, they might say that X is a way to pay people to train their AI replacements/censors. Interestingly, the stated positive purpose of features like community notes draws in the folks least likely to participate in such an effort. Also Elon surely wants his humanoid robots to interact with humans in more human ways eventually, which would require a solid, up-to-date data set of human interactions… These are the threads I would be pulling with regard to X and the boosting/monetization algorithms.

It’s the down side of “populism”. In my own mind, populism is both the opposite, and logical result, of unbridled atheist leftism. We have folks in the MAGA coalition who were pro-choice, libertarian, Ron Paul type activists, and former liberals before they joined MAGA. It’s a matter of common foes and some common values. It’s literally the “big tent” type of MAGA-GOP, that Reagan promoted. That big tent will have a whole lot of differing viewpoints, and many with fundamental principles that are 180 degrees out of alignment with others, even the majority in the MAGA movement.
In a functioning democracy (e.g. after all, we have a democratic republic here in America), it’s difficult to attain power and influence without that big tent. However, there’ll be some riots there as well.
On a slightly different, but analogous track: The historic Christian church, particularly the protestant branch, has often been criticized for it’s many divisions over theology and policy. Many non-believers believe it to be evidence of a corrupt, man-made religion. However, the truth of the matter is, most Christian growth and effective evangelism occurred DURING these splits and religious controversies. These divisions were a sign of health. To the contrary, the periods of uniformity have been “dark ages” of the church, both corrupt and dying churches, and believers abandoning their faith.
Healthy MAGA will result in friction. We need to leave the bombastic stuff at the door, when we enter the MAGA tent. I’m talking about you, me, and friends I greatly admire, like Steve Bannon, Raheem Kassam, and 1001 other “influencers”. We need to realize that these disagreements and suspicions are a sign of health within the MAGA body politic. However, we also need to be civil, and not pull out the populist “guillotines”.

At times like this I always try to remember that the Lord is in control. This could be one specific prayer request, that the Lord expose any deceit from Elon (and other actors) and evil plans in the background for all to see. It is a small task for the Lord. I’m as anti-H1B as any MAGA person on this forum, as my entire civilian career was trashed due to not just foreign competition, but FOREIGN PREFERENCES, in the technology area. American kids aren’t available for Musk to hire, because many of the eligible have lived experiences, growing up in households with parents who’s careers were derailed by H1B/foreign national hiring preferences. These folks who helped Trump across the finish line in 2024, Tulsi, RFK, jr., Musk, Vivek, etc., are ALL going to have cherished principles that run opposite to MAGA’s. So, we agree to disagree agreeably where we can, hold them accountable for what they have been assigned to so, and have committed to doing, and politely oppose on principle, where we must.

The first time was when I opposed all those FReepers (I originally coined that term – honestly) during the CA primaries who were pumping for Schwarzenegger for California governor. I said “Heck, this guy is married to a Kennedy. He WORSHIPS the Kennedy’s. How do you expect him to govern as a conservative?” There were better options. Arnie became everything I expected as governor. I laid out my case, never attacked anyone, and in return, got the whole ad hominem attack thingy thrown at me. Robinson joined in, responding “Your not helpful”, or something to that effect, and “bang”, I was gone. I respected that. I think I rejoined during the Romney campaign, because I so opposed Romney during the primaries, and bang, I was gone again. The (then) newer FReepers were just vicious, and Jim seemed to encourage it. Now, there are whole threads attacking other, single users. Threads are hijacked by opponents, e.g. Ukraine vs Russia on the war. Civility is long gone. It’s a tag team of hate. I review FR for the headlines, but that’s about it. Can’t even stand to read viewers comments. There are still good people there, but that place is long, gone as far as being useful.
I got banged off of Zerohedge after being on their for years. Something changed there. Yahoo I now what happened there, their bots were getting owned by patriots so they had to shut down their comments for a while and reconfigure their Liberal-marxist censorship, so I quite there after proudly helping to destroy their bots and get the truth out for years. Well, besides FR, Breitbart tossed me (via Disqus mods) sometime just after he passed. Kane at CFP …uh… “kindly” requested I forever leave CFP (before he ended comments altogether), saying that I was an arrogant SOB. I’m not perfect. I do react. I rarely start stuff by insulting folks, IMHO. However, I can’t stand bullies or liars, and I will get into it when stuff like happens. It’s not all that constructive. Generally, I stay off social media. I joined Facebook a couple of years ago because the wife wanted to use Marketplace, but I have to break my index finger to stop “responding”, i.e. posting. Same for “X”, joined it to see stuff, but I refrain from social media. Just here, and a few other, select conservative sites. I like Sundance quite a bit, agree with him on most issues, respect our differences, hence, I’m here (though he might consider that a “con” rather than a good thing 🤣).

We have in Elon the richest human on the planet who, as Sundance says, was part of the Sea Island cabal in 2016, looking for ways to cripple the Trump candidacy, (about the same time JD Vance was also vehemently opposed to Trump).

And in 2024 he wasn’t at Sea Island, he was at Mar-a-Lago, planning with Trump, then campaigned and helped win Pensylvania and contributed his time and over 140 million dollars to the Trump campaign.
So Rumble isn’t abusing the H-1B visa program like Musk is doing, but Rumble didn’t go all in to help Trump win the election in a landslide like Elon did.

I really love this site and have the highest respect for Sundance and his efforts to dig for the truth, at all costs. But lately, the caution seems to be bordering on paranoia, and this site is getting to be a real downer. The purity tests for President Trump’s inner circle is getting more and more severe. There are no perfect, super heroes involved, including Donald Trump. Everyone around him is trying to support his agenda as best they can, while still needing to survive in The Swamp to accomplish said agenda. I imagine some really ugly deals will have to be made. Can we not wait and see, have some faith and remain cautiously optimistic instead of jumping on anyone who remains positive and hopeful? What’s the difference between H1B and H2B if you’re a waiter or waitress that loses your job, your overtime or a promotion?
The fact is that waitresses from Poland, Russia and Croatia are a lot more effective, professional and beautiful than the local ones from Jamaica and Haiti.
My old friend who owned an excellent Jewish bakery had Polish,Russian, & Serbian immigrant women working there when I was in my 20’s I used to go there as often as we could while I was working on an environmental crew. Now unfortunately my friend passed on and that immigration source from those countries was cutoff and that small city has gone down the tubes as the immigrants-invaders are third worlders and crime and blight has taken it over. Same thing with a town we called “Little Scotland” all replaced with third worlders as our enemy changed immigration and opened our borders to an invasion.

When President Trump started assembling his cabinet picks, I watched and listened. I was not at all comfortable with more than half. I took the attitude of positivity that PT is a builder and to build you need many different skill sets to accomplish and complete a well-built structure or in our country’s case a refurbishing to its original Constitutional structure. My positivity is wavering but one thing I am positive about is this- The DOJ knows that the majority of people who had their Twitter/ X accounts handed over are some of the nicest, sincere, thoughtful, courteous and reasoned people they will come across in their reading.
