Former President Jimmy Carter is dead following almost two-years of hospice care. He was 100 years old. The Carter Center confirmed his death, saying he died peacefully at his home in Plains, surrounded by his family. He was the longest-lived president in U.S. history.
President Trump said, “President Jimmy Carter is dead at 100 years of age. While I strongly disagreed with him philosophically and politically, I also realized that he truly loved and respected our Country, and all it stands for. He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that I give him my highest respect. He was a truly good man and, of course, will be greatly missed. He was also very consequential, far more than most Presidents, after he left the Oval Office. Warmest condolences from Melania and I to his wonderful family!” [LINK]
Joe Biden Said, “Today, America and the world lost an extraordinary leader, statesman and humanitarian. Over six decades, we had the honor of calling Jimmy Carter a dear friend. But, what’s extraordinary about Jimmy Carter, though, is that millions of people throughout America and the world who never met him thought of him as a dear friend as well. [LINK]
What a blessed man.
He lived long enough to move 2-3 places off “worst president ever” and collect retirement benefits longest.
I’m glad he lived long enough this year to see DJT re-elected.
Some people called Jimmy “one of the best Presidents,” while others called him “among the worst.” To my way of thinking, if people say both things about you at the same time, that’s a pretty good compliment. 😀 It means you made a difference.
Jimmy made a difference alright.
A lot of big minuses.
According to Mike Benz, Carter gave away the Panama Canal as part of the anti-colonialist trend of the time, so that’s a HUGE faux pas. The canal is now WAY behind in needed maintenance.
On the CCP issue, here’s your typically idiotic fact check:
Fact Check: Does China Control the Panama Canal, as Trump Suggests? False.
While a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison Holdings manages two ports at the canal’s entrances, with Chinese firms funding construction of a new bridge over the canal to the tune of over $1 billion, this does not equate to control of the canal’s operations. The Panama Canal Authority, an autonomous government agency, oversees the canal’s administration.
Carter’s admin also saw the largest number of globalists appointed to positions in the government. Carter, as a Christian, didn’t see that the One World idea that they promoted, wasn’t God’s version, but man’s. Corrupted.
There is much that Jimmy Carter failed to see.
He set the archetype for really, really bad Presidents.
The Panama Canal should not belong to US; use it yes, not run it ,repair it, or profit from it.
While We get rid of all ties to it, get rid of the 17 territories the US keeps. Truthfully I’d say give Hawaii to the Natives, too.
I’d even go as far to suggest We get rid of Kosovo’s nefarious military base, and all other non defensive bases; NONE defend the USA and US.
Anti colonialist or Pro American; that is the question.
Why stop there?
Give Texas and Californistan back to Mexico or Spain.
Give the Louisiana purchase back to France, Oregon to Britain, NYC to the Dutch and ………
Take any idea to the extreme and see if it holds up to scrutiny……….
The Panama Canal was built at great cost and effort and should have remained under US control.
(might want to ask those 17 territories if they want their independence…..they lose all those federal dollars)
You forgot to give Alaska back to Russia. Also, to leave Puerto Rico alone.
What’s done is done. Rolling back History is usually a bad idea.
He was just a very nice man, as far as I could tell. He had an easygoing style that appealed to people. He didn’t alienate Republicans, and Democrats supported him because he was one of theirs and had won. It was a clear-cut case of incompetency that none of those other factors could overcome. So he was objectively seen as a terrible leader.
Carter always, always sided with terrorists. Even against Israel. I wonder whether he was a believing Christian at all. mho
Not if you lived under his reign. He was a Southern POS.
He “made a difference” all right, he provided a window for the people of this country to see how truly bad things could get IF they elected another (or several) idiot(s) to the presidency. Unfortunately, the “lesson” was not received/learned by the nation’s electorate and it continued to choose corrupt, globalist, Marxist, chief executives, i.e., Clinton, Bushes, Obama, and the idiot of the century, Joe Biden. Too bad Jimmy’s offering of “difference” accomplished so little.
Agree.
Carter is lucky that pedodent Biden became the worst POTUS in our nation’s history, making Carter the second worst tied with BHO.
Aren’t Democrats just “peachy”?
Didn’t he totally fail at getting our hostages back from Iran? First thing that POTUS Reagan accomplished! Didn’t he sell Panama for $1???
He sure made a difference for the future of kids and public schools. He started the teachers union.
“He started the teachers union.”
Don’t think so.
The only best president is still alive! Can’t wait for Trump to be re-inaugurated!
It is a shame the flags will be at half mast for the inauguration. Really quite annoying.
Grandmas rules.
This Grandma, a bonafide “Canal Zone Brat”….
wants her Canal back.
Here’s the 1980 election map as a tribute.
Even Illinois was red.
Washington state too.
Illinois still voted GOP for Statewide seats (Governor, Senators, etc.) – also notice they still had 26 congressional seats at that time too! Once they started in with the near-doubling of the corporate tax rate in 2014, then their Covid lockdown (one of the worst, most prolonged in the nation!), people like my husband and me fled to more taxation-friendly, job-friendly (solidly red) states! And they now only have 17 congressional seats!!!!!
Ya know your pretty lousy when California and New York vote Republican!
What’s in the water in Mn.? they’re still “effed” up 40 years later! Brain freeze or dain bramaged?
Now THAT’S a landslide.
Hahahah.
Yep, that’s his legacy alright. Wowza.
His stag-flation did that.
Back in the good old days when elections were paper ballots and only the deep state was manipulating the people through the media…
This is what PT’s electoral map would look like without all the cheating.
Absolutely!
Good grief, what’s with my beloved West Virginia!
Robert Byrd?!?!
Egads.
Minnesota.
Once again I’ll say I’m sorry to the rest of the country for the idiots out running around (and being allowed to vote) in the land of 10,000 lakes.
Maybe it’s the water!
The state bird is the common loon, soooo…
No comment.
Same here. If you can’t say anything good, don’t say anything.
I do remember his misery index, i will say that.
Giving away the Panama Canal for nothing ranks as one of the most stupid geopolitical decisions of all time.
Wage/Price controls was indicative of a second/third rate mind.
I’ll always remember “newclear” energy as his daughter sat in on important meetings.
Basically, the worst in my lifetime of 76+ years!
Oh, how about the Iran Hostage Affair!
A buffoon, a clown, incompetent.
How about my adjustable mortgage that topped out at 16% before I could get out!
Oh, I forgot …..wear a sweater to keep warm!
The President of the United States adjusted the thermostats in the White House, turned off the lights on the tennis courts, and wore a sweater as he lectured Americans about how much energy they were using. All of this after he caused the shortage.
It was my reality moment that the exploding daisy commercials against Reagan were complete propaganda..
Atomic daisy commercials–Goldwater.
How about “drive 55?” Another loser from that loser.
Sorry, drive 55 sent me down a rabbit hole: during Peanut’s reign of error I had a ‘72 Duster that had every sort of mod you could do to it and keep it legal. It would hit 140 in 3d gear and I never got it going any faster because the front end tried to come off the ground. It got 3MPG. On premium. It was parked a lot.I had gotten married and was getting ready to move and desperately wanted to sell it. We were driving around the courthouse square in a little east central IL county one day, speed limit 25, and I was having to ride the brakes to stay at the limit. I mean, every cop in town was in a diner on the square, I had to.
I had just gotten off the square when the bubblegum machine came on behind me. I pulled over. An officer of the law comes up to my window and asks, “Is that thing as fast as it sounds?”
So help me, I replied, “I don’t know. I’ve never had it over 55.” My new bride seized up. The cop laughed.
He said, “Why don’t we go over to the interstate and you can show me?” Sure. We go over to what is basically, even today, a deserted stretch of I-74, flat, no turns, also, no traffic to speak of. I’m puttering along in the travel lane, the cop pulls up alongside and lip reading, I see him say, “get into it.” I smile and grandly wave him on. He stomps his interceptor. And hit the lights for effect. Yeah, that was cool.
I counted ten then blasted after him and passed him like he was parked.
He ended up buying that car from me.
Thanks Peanut!
GREAT STORY! 😎
Sounds like you had the 340 V8 in that bad boy.
Correct you are. My brother-in-law bored it out to 342 and it torqued so much it had to be chained to the frame in hopes of not breaking the motor mounts. I was just thinking, we used to see cars of that ilk around, and pick ups so jacked up I’d need a stepladder to get into them, but as we say, not no more.
We have to credit President Nixon with the drive 55 boondoggle.
And up until that point in time I remember most houses would put up some kind of lights to celebrate Christmas.
Lights, beautiful lights up and down every block at Christmas.
Then Jimmy said there’s an oil shortage and to cut back on our energy use. That first Christmas was dark. It was very odd and seemed sinister.
As a young couple buying our first home we had no clue that 16% interest on a mortgage was something bad; it’s just what it was. We knew that suddenly paying more than a buck a gallon for gas was bad, since we’d been paying around 40 cents per gallon up until the “shortage.”
But having Christmas go dark was the worst part of Jimmy’s warning.
Good times!
Yep! They always want us to forget when they were in office and what occurred. They will have quite the job with the Biden Administration, probably the most Corrupt ever! But…….that only because Hillary never got in!
Welp, good music anyway!
My sister and BIL’s was 21%!!
What’s the matter, you didn’t like waiting in line for gas?
Yeah, for the muscle car I rebuilt and couldn’t (legally) drive it over 55 mph? Great…
I remember my Dad running out of gas on one of those lines and having to push the car with my brother and I manning the brakes and steering wheel. We were 5 and 7 at the time.
Even and odd days.
Don’t forget he gave us the Dept. of Energy, the Dept. of Education and FEMA – all disasters. When the Shah of Iran asked him for help not to be dethroned, Carter said no. He helped the Ayatollah Khomeini travel from Paris to Teheran to take over the government, paving the way for the mess we have today in the middle east. I will never understand how the Navy gave this man, who always made the wrong decision, the command of a nuclear submarine.
He has one named after him now.
I took a 13.25% fixed rate mortgage at the time and made out well – not quite sure to this day how I got out of having an adjustable-rate mortgage, as that was the going thing at the time… oh well.
With respect to Carter, I was NOT a fan – voted for Reagan in my first-ever vote after turning 18 – my folks were all democrats and they really hit the roof when I told them I’d voted for Reagan (we had lived in CA when he was gov), but they were talking out the other side of their mouths when Carter’s inflation abated in the 80’s under RWR. They ended up moving in ’83 and their mortgage rate was half what mine was. They voted for Reagan in ’84, haha.
We stood in line to get a 10.9% mortgage rate from a “qualified” builder.
Agree, Carter was the worst POTUS in our history until pedodent Biden took Carter’s place.
Biden is hands down the most corrupt person to ever sit in the WH, but you really have to go some to compete with Wilson for large scale, irreversible, Republic-ending programs. I rate him as our worst president.
Obama started the open borders, overt racism, vitriol against our legal system, and hateful anti-American sentiment that forever changed “who we are” into a peoples too stupid to recognize a mass invasion of non-assimilable cultures or too lemming-like to comment on it publicly.
Hard to believe the Democrats just keep ticking away to this day! I never did find out what any of the Democrats “ran on”. It was always the Republicans were bad! Oh, and they always raised the taxes!
All hard core truths for those of us who lived thru the mess of the Carter years -no amount of humanitarian or “be kind” can ever replace the Incompetence and destruction to America that was/ is Jimmy Carters legacy
I found out about locking gas caps when Jimmah was in office.
Credit where credit’s due.
If memory serves me, that second/third rate mind to which you refer belonged to Nixon.
Nixon was the reason my dad voted Democrat! I was of the draft age and Vietnam was a big stink then! He was a retired Army WWII vet and reservist! I was the only one to carry on our last name and I fell short on that front!
Our fixed-rate mortgage was 18% thanks to Carter.
Selling OUR uranium to Rosatom? PRICELESS
Wage/Price controls was Nixon, aggravated by Ford (whip inflation now). I do thank Carter for increasing military pay. At the end of VN war we had a massive drawdown, add to that creation of the All Volunteer Force led to a crisis in the ranks. Carter got us out of that and also paved the way for what would become the “600 ship navy” under Reagan and eventually the fall of USSR.
But Brzezinski as NSA was a definate mistake.
The living room in that picture looks pretty simple. The artwork is not fancy or sophisticated. It looks unpretentious and I would say President Carter never took a bribe or had secret offshore bank accounts.
He was not an effective President but neither was he corrupt or dishonest in any way. If only good intentions were enough! But alas, he really put us all through hell.
I really don’t care for the drapes…
Well. It looks like my Grandma’s place. Just a regular guy.
We now have Obama in a multi million mansion on Martha’s Vineyard and The Clinton’s in some fancy mansion in New York. Biden has a beachouse in Delaware etc etc etc
Obama, Clintons and Biden all have multiple mansions.
I got that !
That’s Jill Biden’s dress you’re seeing –
You mean the ones Jill is wearing? That entire picture is bizarre.
You should look into his background a bit more, he was a wicked man whom cultivated a certain image.
Well don’t hold it in! How so?
Revisionist history has deceived far too many into parroting the *good man* schtick. He was patently not, was an anti-Semite who praised North Korea and asked the Soviets to interfere in his campaign against Reagan, and again, in 1984, on behalf of Walter Mondale, and with the help of Ted Kennedy. He betrayed the innocent Iranian people who prospered under the dethroned Shah, and even knifed Clinton in the back, when Clinton was negotiating with North Korea.
And, his wife sewed her own inauguration gown. The Carters reminded me of the Truman’s…really never got caught up in all the glamour and trappings of the Office. Probably would be mocked today.
Doubt of there was a dishonest or corrupt bone in his body, but WAY out of his element and a terrible President.
Never took a bribe.
He just traveled the world begging for a Nobel prize bowing to every despot he could.
He Took part in certifying fraudulent elections world wide.
A so called true champion of election integrity , just not the crooked ones in the USA
When he finally got it the Nobel committee publicly admitted they only gave it to him to poke a political finger in President Bushes eye.
Any decent man would have given it back rather than allowing himself to be used that way.
But not Jimmy Ivy League “ peanut farmer”
I quietly believe that Jimmy Carter deserved that Prize. And, I believe that Trump should receive one, too – for the “Abraham Accords.” In both cases: not for who he is, but for what he achieved.
The Office of the President holds great power. With it, we now see both that it is possible to do great evil – or, great good.
Alas, giving one to Jug Ears has cheapened it and renders it meaningless, IMO.
After algore and Obama … the Nobel is nothing more than a crackerjack prize.
Yessi9ree Bob, I echoed that many many moons ago! Glad to see it still kickin’
Yasser Arafat before them.
I didn’t enjoy living under Jimmy Carter or particularly admire him. But Biden, Obama, the Clintons, have brought us all to a new level of deception and grift.
He solicited Soviet Russia to interfere in his race against Reagan, and again in 1984, for benefit of Walter Mondale. His animus toward Jews is well documented. The list of betrayals by him is a massive one, including posturing as a devout fundamental Southern Baptist, who he then dissed once ensconced in office. The *good man* gag-a-thon is appalling.
He told “Playboy” that he “had lusted in his heart”. Sure, the fool who was scared of a wild marsh rabbit. Big FN loser.
When he left office, he found his family agricultural business in disarray – he legally had to distance himself from it – and he then had to work for several years restoring it. Which he did.
He asked the Soviet Russians to interfere in the race with Reagan, and did so again in 1984, on behalf of Walter Mondale and with the aid of Ted Kennedy. He had much personal and career animus against Jews, ( the Carter Center is an example of this). I think the people of pre-Ayatollah Khomeini Iran can testify how he turned their previously westernized country into an Islamic hellhole. The current de rigeur trope of Carter as *good man, bad president* is half true, that being the bad president part. He was not a good man, once we parse the revisionist history.
After his presidency Habitat for Humanity was (and is?) a great thing.
Elections in Venezuela monitored by him were not a great thing.
Habitat is still going strong. And Carter was still volunteering for work crews up until age 97. I guess the Secret Service had to learn how to drive nails. 😀
Habitat for Humanity is more welfare freebies for welfare leeches and illegal aliens.
Homes should only be built for our homeless veterans – abandoned and betrayed by the RINORAT UniParty.
Great?
Ask the home owners who bought and used the poisoned Chinese sheetrock that D’himmi’s Habitat imported and bought to use in FL homes after the 4 hurricanes that hit there in ’04. Was also used in ’05/06 after Katrina in LA & MS.
Those homes had to be regutted and new clean sheetrock installed, cuz the cheap Chinese product was full of Sulphur that contaminated the houses and left them unfit for habitation.
Think the insurance companies wanted to pay twice for the sheetrock? Think again.
Law suits were filed to remedy the home owners’ problem caused by Carter’s H4H.
“Buy cheap, get cheap”,… And maybe a big kickback, eh, H4H???
…and it is closely aligned with the big labor unions with a lot of perks for them. Not a great thing, because it was a quiet attempt to introduce socialist *affordable housing* to a public seduced by his *humanitarian* efforts.
As someone whom came of age in the 70’s Carter was wicked and incompetent. Even the biased Wikipedia is damning.
Energy crisis. Iran crisis. Recession. Sweater speech. “Christian” whom supported LBGT. Panama Canal giveaway. Banned reprocessing of nuclear fuel. Supporting wicked regimes around the world. Rosalynn’s spiritual advisor was Jim Jones. Yes that Jim Jones. He meddled in foreign affairs violating the Hatch Act. The list is endless. I pray he repented.
FYI it’s not always “whom.” Sometimes it’s just ‘who.”
His saintly biography currently making the rounds as part of the absurd *must not speak ill of the dead* etiquette of revisionist history, just really shocks anyone literate in the history and geopolitical reality of the time, and/or who was sentient enough to be aware of his presidency. https://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individuals/jimmy-carter/
President “Malaise” was incompetent and the office was beyond his capabilities. Too easily manipulated by world events to be effective. He may have meant well, but his weakness did lead to Reagan and that contrast made Jimmah look even worse. RIP Jimmy.
Rest In Peace. And the knowledge that far worse Presidents from your party came after you.
Rest in peace.
And that is still one strange photograph with the shrunken Carters or the enlarged Bidens.
Pro-Abortion, Pro-Palestinian too.
He was one of the earlier Marxist infiltrates into the USA Christian churches.
At least he restored the citizenship of Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee (not that they wanted it).
Let’s see now;
-Let a bunch of 7th Century savages humiliate the most powerful country on Earth
-Admitted he only launched the hostage rescue op to get reelected
-Created the Dept of Education to placate the teachers unions
-Gave away the Panama Canal
-Cratered the economy
He’s joined Woodrow Wilson, the Kennedys, FDR, LBJ, Harry Reid, John Lewis, Elijah Cummings, John McCain and the rest of the DC scum in Hell.
If someone had told me in 1980 that we would have multiple presidents worse than Carter in the future, I wouldn’t have believed it.
A good man and a terrible president.
Plastic christian, a person Pence modeled himself after.
My dear grandmother, a staunch Republican her entire life, fell for his Christian claims and voted for him. We were shocked.
When I heard this news yesterday, my immediate reaction was: “Relief.” It was simply horrifying to see him – for example, at Roslyn’s funeral or on his birthday. (“Yes, a man can live too long.”) But, sailor that he was, he soldiered on until God finally took him home, and He finally did. He wasn’t separated from his beloved Roslyn for very long, as it turns out, and now he never will be again.
Jimmy Carter was, above all, an honorable man. In his service to the Navy, to his State of Georgia, to his Country, and then as a foreign diplomat, he always did his duty as he saw it to the fullest. Yes, he made a lot of mistakes along the way. He did not receive a second term. But he was always honest, and he always did his best. He was a man of his word.
“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” In my opinion, was an honor to the Office of the President, where several officeholders lately have not been. Despite many screw-ups, some of them awful. He didn’t always succeed, and he wasn’t always right, but he always tried.
WeThePeople can make mistakes all by ourselves … we don’t need a President, using our tax dollars, to actually create problems we can’t fix or change – due to his actions, inactions, programs & decisions.
Carter… other people making bad plans that impact my life.
Good man, wrong job.
Tip O’Neil met with him days after the ’76 election, and told him “I was here when you got here and I’ll be here when you leave.” And so he was.
The Uniparty was united to destroy him. Yes, the Uniparty existed then, although it took me 10 more years to accept it. Their aim was a neoconservative-neoliberal paradise. Reagan was on board with this, the first one, however unwitting. Never let a crisis go to waste, as they say. So we got the start of massive corporate bailouts and foreign war forever. They are locked in deep now, and we have totalitarian government.
I wouldn’t put this all on Jimmy, but he did play right into their hands. RIP, brother.
I never had good thoughts about Jimmy but have wondered lately about how much he was unknowingly herded by the uniparty.
Brzezinski was Carter’s national security advisor.
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2024/07/08/biden-family-enter-negotiation-stage-letter-to-congress-frames-baseline-for-exit-price/
Yes, he was the Dark Lord. All since followed his flag. He created the “Ring of Fire”, which we follow in Ukraine yet today.
The fruit of his loins is married to Morning Joe. What a legacy!
Poison fruit.
His foreign policy certainly didn’t help us.
Biggest FUBAR was letting Iran go to the mullahs and abandoning the Shah.
Now we’re seeing his second biggest was letting go of the Panama Canal.
I cast my first Presidential vote as a young adult. Carter vs Reagan. Needles to say, I voted for
Reagan 🇺🇸
My thoughts and prayers are with the Carter family.
“May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace”. Amen.
Same here. The only good things I can remember about that time period was America winning the hockey game and Reagan winning the election.
Hypocritical Frauds,… Jimmy and Roslyn Carter.
My uncle Bob graduated with Carter from the US Naval Academy, then drove Subs as a Commander sinking a lot of Japanese tonnage in WWII and stayed in the USN most of his life.
Bob’s wife told my wife and I when we visited with them in San Diego (Point Loma home) in 2009 that if she didn’t get up early enough to hang their washing out on the common close-line they shared with the Carters across their back fence, that Roslyn would use (hog) the entire close line.
Don’t believe the Carter’s pious posturing or the MSM’s loving remembrance of him now,… this man was a fool and traitor to the USA in many ways by his actions both as Potus and thereafter.
Jim Jones was politically connected with anti-racist activists in California.
Roslyn met with him several times because he led an anti-racist political group.
“Oh, by the way Rosalynn, anytime you visit San Francisco come by our Church. We don’t drink alcohol but I can make you a mean Cool Aid spritzer!”
Bet Ole Jim Jones downed a few “Billy (Carter) Beers”… behind his suicide Temple curtains, instead of his cyanide laced purple Kool-Aid.
To make himself look like a “man of the people” he always carried an empty garment bag to the Marine 1. Total phony bs artist. I give him no props for his life after the presidency. Lived through his price control authoritarian orders. Remember the Iran hostage crisis. How about the mess Reagan had to clean up. Just like Trump will have to clean up after Potato Head and then get blamed for the mess.
Sorry, not sorry.
I was reading an aviation blog a few years ago and there was a story about JC renting a jet to fly the shortest distance possible (cheapest) to land in Atlanta I think it was. He wanted to be seen getting off a private jet.
He wasn’t a great POTUS but at least he wasn’t a thief.
I rode in a van pool when I worked at McDonnell Douglas. One of our riders had been an Iranian hostage.
While stationed in Germany from 78-81, I drove a ’74 pickup as one of the vehicles in our battalion. Due to carter’s military budget cuts, I could not get a replacement brake caliper and was out of commission for more than a month.
I called a friend stateside at his families auto parts store and ordered the caliper and had it shipped. If not for my friend, the part might not have ever been available.
Thanks for nothin’ jimmy.
I was stationed in Germany from ’76-’78. For a period of time I was responsible for ordering repair parts for our company vehicles (CSC, 1/36 INF).
We were ALWAYS short of money for repair parts, resulting in deadlined vehicles that could never perform their assigned missions. The Jeeps in our Redeye section were rusted out and barely ran. The one I was signed for was made in 1961.
On October 1, 1978, we did not get paid due to the Defense Budget not being passed in time. There were riots at the kaserne where I was stationed.
Things ain’t any better these days. You were lucky to only have to deal with rusty old Jeeps.
Today’s military is depending on 40 year old tanks. Rusty, leaky, old ships. Aircraft kept in the air with duct tape and bailing wire. Solders are so broke they are on food stamps (SNAP).
https://www.heritage.org/military/an-assessment-of-us-military-power
Ever been to Plains Georgia?
Seen the squalid ramshackle Carter barns and outbuildings across from his home?
All we heard from MSM before and during Carter presidency…..Plains, Georgia, (Camelot).
Even today there are plenty of pictures on the net of the showcase “Carter boyhood farm” but none of the reality.
Well done MSM you faithless servant of the truth.
By January 6 we have a new saint: Saint Jimmy. I think he was the only one who didn’t fill his pockets in DC but would not put my hands on the fire pit for it but I remember his presidency very well and it was an absolute disaster. Always making the wrong decision and in the wrong side of all issues.
Pardoned the Vietnam War draft dodgers.
Great guy.
As a Vietnam vet, that pissed me off big time! I was a Spec, 4 because of the wage freeze in ’73. Had I got the Spec 5, I would’ve prolly re-upped to get the $10 Grand!
Jimmy Carter’s presidency ruined my family by bankrupting my father’s business. Took out a lot of my friends’ families as well creating a generation of latch key kids, the product of divorce.
I am also operating under Grandmother’s rules.
I echo your first sentiment. I was the 4th kid and it meant I had ZERO funds to pay room, board, and books for college, even though I had a 4 year tuition ride based on my ACT score.
Honest to goodness, Jimmy Carter turned me into a conservative. Probably my husband too. We were in a restaurant last night when the news scrolled across the bottom of the screen. We both felt obligated to recount to our sons our memories of the Carter administration:
– Rationed gas
– “America held hostage, day 443”
– giving back the Panama Canal
– failed rescue attempt of hostages
– assaulted by a rabbit
– inflation inflation inflation
My biggest memory from the Carter administration was actually Reagan’s inauguration. I was a freshman in high school and for whatever reason home that day. The television had a split screen. Ron and Nancy walking down Pennsylvania Avenue on one side and the hostages being released on the other.
…and much, much more. His is one of the most preposterously revisionist histories imaginable. https://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individuals/jimmy-carter/
If Carter could have gone directly from Governor to Ex-President he would have had an outstanding career.
Iran, Panama Canal, high inflation and energy shortages ruined his Presidential legacy. But there was no doubt he loved his country and served it well both before and after his Presidency. A true liberal, he was still a decent and honest man though way over his head for four years in office.
Jimmy Carter personified the road to hell is paved with good intentions and the law of unintended consequences.
My up close and personal experiences. Obscene mortgage rates. Gas rationing. National emotional and economic depression
Large office buildings are self heating. We were ordered to set heating setpoints (IIRC) to 66/55 making the chillers run hard all winter. Circuit breakers popping from the electric heaters hid under desks. Some energy savings. 78 cooling setpoint meant floors buckled and carpets molded. People became ill.
Good times!
May he rest in the peace he took from the lil’ people he cared so much about.
Found in the bin… 🙁
Thank you 🙂
I think the most diplomatic thing I’ve heard said about the late 39th president was said by Lee Hamilton: “I think that President Carter will be remembered by his legacy following his time in office, than his time in office.”
RIP, ‘Jimma Cordah’. You were the embodiment of book smart and application ignorant.
I came of age during Carter’s Presidency. I am proud to say that I got to vote for President Reagan, the first time I ever got to vote. I have never hated Jimmy Carter, but he was a horrible president.
Even or Odd License plate???
Wait in 2 hour long gas lines then find out the filling station ran out of gas when you finally got to the pump…
In the 20th century there had not been a worse president.
I had been deployed to the Med. Got back and knew nothing about even/odd. But being navy had out of state plates and got some slack with that.
What would you expect from a Dimmycrat? We have a Cater zombie in office now for 20 some days! Useless as the hind teat on a boar hog!
I do appreciate that he made an effort to eradicate the Guinea worm in Africa at least.
RIP
The picture of the Carters and Bidens has never looked right to me. Were Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter dwarfs?
It doesn’t even look like the Bidens would fit in the chairs that the Carters are sitting in.
AI generated?
probably, just like the “war in Ukraine”
Former US president Jimmy Carter pronounced dead after voting for Joe Biden in November.
nuff said
I pray he was cognizant enough to repent and turn.
That funhouse picture at the bottom is the stuff of nightmares.
Please, can we dispense with the oft-regurgitated *well-intentioned good man* trope? That schtick of being a down-home rednecked, simple country boy is as fictitious as 0bama’s provenance. He was an anti-semite in both his personal life and in his political career, for starters, and he took on the persona of Devout Baptist as a means of buttressing his *down homey* good ol’ evangelist, as a useful tool in the Marxist-Lite tool box. Please, peeps, since maybe some were not around or were too young to recall when his Presidency almost destroyed America, maybe let’s not succumb to the *must talk nice about the dead* etiquette…https://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individuals/jimmy-carter/
Well said and true, imho.
We should recognize the Facts of Carter as the POTUS and the man,… And tell the truth Nicely about what a failure as POTUS and as a hypocritical man he truly was.
History will judge him harshly and truly. The MSM has lost their power to control the narrative,.. and rightly so.
See, the Trump 11/5 Mandate election of this new reality.
I’ve heard for many years that Carter was one of the best “ex-presidents” we’ve ever had, largely due to his work with Habitat for Humanity.
This compliments him while acknowledging that he was lousy as an actual president.
I never gloat over the death of an enemy.
I won’t this time either.
🙏✝️🙏
Neither me, but I will not mourn it, either.
When I heard Jimmy had died — after being in hospice for two years — all I could think of was that they kept him alive to “support” and “vote for” whoever the leftist candidate for prez would be.
😂😂😂
It is said President Carter held on so he could vote for Kamala Harris. If true, a fitting final political act for him.
Carter was one of the worst Presidents! Mortgage rates were 18-21%, to buy gasoline it was odd or even depending on your license, told us to turn down our heat and wear a sweater, allowed Americans to be hostages in Iran for over 400 days, botched a rescue attempt, threatened Americans that the country would divide if they voted for Reagan, gave away Panama Canal so America wouldn’t be accused of colonialism (although hundreds of our workers died), he praised Hamas and wrote a book that called Israel an apartheid state! His only positive was he thought drop boxes and ballot harvesting would lead to fraud. He was a phoney and completely not presidential material. Exactly how can one have hospice for two years?
He died happy being bumped down the worst list. I would put 1. Biden, 2. Obama, 3. LBJ, 4. Franklin Rossevelt, and 5. Woodrow Wilson ahead of him on the worst list. God help us if we had to that list.
