The 1,547 page “continuing resolution bill” is available for review HERE. They are calling this a “CR” (continuing resolution) bill to fund government. However, only approximately 10 pages (15 to 25) are the funding mechanism; the rest is a regulatory construct, an attempt to circumvent the Trump administration, and position the federal government to defend against structural changes President Trump is intending to initiate.
Within THE BILL, in an effort to force Republicans to support it, there is a section approximately 500 pages, that spends and directs $100 billion for disaster relief in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina following the devasting late season hurricanes. The disaster relief portion should be a stand-alone bill but is included in the massive omnibus spending package because it creates votes to support.
President Trump is well aware of the mechanics inside the Omnibus (CR) package and, together with Elon Musk, has announced his opposition to it.
President Trump is urging congress to pass only the portion of the bill that would tie up loose ends and keep government funded before he takes office next month. His direction is to raise the government’s borrowing authority –debt ceiling– and extending government funding.
Doing a short-term funding CR means lawmakers must strip out all the non-funding elements backed by Democrats. This would allow only Republicans to pass the bill. The stuff Democrats want would be removed. Currently the Democrats are aligned to support the bill and vote for it because the majority of the bill is toxic regulatory changes.

The current bill would fund government agencies at current levels and provide $100 billion for disaster relief and $10 billion in farm aid. It also includes a wide range of unrelated provisions, such as a pay raise for lawmakers and a crackdown on hidden hotel fees.
Trump said Congress should limit the bill to temporary spending and disaster relief and also raise the national debt ceiling now before it comes to a head next year.

If the spending package is not complete the non-essential elements of the government will “shut down” a non-technical term that really means little in the grand scheme of things because congress has defined everything as ‘essential.’

Actually this cr and looming debt ceiling puts President Trump in a
very strong position as I see it.
This of course assumes repubs support the President.
But think about it. Take it to a shutdown, assume the hard line.
Do not pass any PORK. NO RAISE, no HIDING illegal deeds, NO BIO LABS,
nothing but bare bones spending. If dems reject that, they shut the government down!
And frankly, I would not allow a debt ceiling increase any larger than is
absolutely necessary, so President Trump has a little wiggle room to work.
Use this financial crisis as a cudgel for DOGE to impose extreme austerity
on this run away government. Non critical staff set home due to the shutdown
would be the first to get pink slips.
If they stripe even a trillion off the spending, easy to do, the crisis
is averted. Common sense will have taken a leap forward and by that time
our President will be installed and our economy will react with a hugely
positive boom as the world realizes President Trump has got this.
As I see this, it is a gift from GOD. All we need to do is use it properly.

This is such a truly insufferable, incompetent, ridiculous, backstabbing the American People, non CR bill that it is no wonder why they tried to slide it in at the last possible moment. And all this because they once again would not do their job and pass a fiscal budget on time back on September 30th after taking a 5 week vacation in August. Then another 6 week vacation in October and 1st week of September. (Oh, excuse me, they call these “State Work periods”, not vacations to campaign.)

I’ve watched previous “farm aid” result in windfalls for tractor dealers and ag chemical brokers, but little shows up on main street. Little if any.
This is true for 99% of all the funding bills–Dang little of the money in the bill actually trickles down to the folks in the title of the bill who may or may not need it.

If they wanted to help NC, GA, and others who experienced great loss from weather events, they could have done that already instead of sending the money to Ukraine and wasting it on illegals. They didn’t and so we, the People, have stepped in and sent money, equipment and temporary housing to help those people.

Fundamentally, these “continuing resolutions” should be illegal. Congress should be required each year to pass a budget, and then have to stick to it. Instead, these “resolutions” layer new pork upon old pork, keeping and “continuing” both. And, along with it, literally thousands of pages of “the kitchen sink.”
Many countries now impose legal limits on what “a bill” is allowed to be. It must concern only a single subject, and it must be short enough to actually read. We have literally passed “bills” that are longer than War and Peace.
Right on! I have a large print, double spaced book that is only 6″ x 9″. It contains the full Declaration of Independence, the entire United States Constitution including the Preamble, all of the Bill Of Rights including the Preamble as well as all of the other Amendments, and separate pages for the signatories of the Declaration and Constitution.
My point? That book is only 63 pages long! That is it! And here we have a 1,547 page monstrosity for just one Continuing Resolution that is 24.55 times the documents that define our country and government.
So I’ll ‘compromise’ with them and suggest that Congress can not write any bill or act that is over 5 times the length of all those founding and structural documents– 63 pages x 5 = 315 page maximum!!!
