The police have arrested Luigi Mangione, 26, in Pennsylvania for the murder of UnitedHealth executive Brian Thompson.
Apparently, Mangione still had the handgun and multiple items of physical evidence connecting him to the assassination.
(Reuters) -Authorities have arrested the man suspected of killing UnitedHealth executive Brian Thompson in a brazen shooting outside a Manhattan hotel last week, New York City officials said on Monday, ending a massive five-day manhunt.
The suspect, identified as Luigi Mangione, 26, was captured in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after he was spotted eating at a McDonald’s by an employee of the fast food restaurant who believed he resembled the gunman, officials said at a news conference.
Mangione was found with a “ghost gun” – a firearm assembled from parts, making it untraceable – and a silencer consistent with the weapon used to shoot Thompson, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, as well as clothing and a mask similar to those worn by the killer. The ghost gun may have been produced by a 3D printer, said Joseph Kenny, the NYPD’s chief of detectives.
Mangione, a Maryland native, had multiple fraudulent identifications, including a fake New Jersey ID that matched the one used by the gunman to check into a Manhattan hostel days before the shooting, officials said.
Police also found a handwritten document that speaks to “both his motivation and his mindset,” Tisch said. While the document did not mention specific targets, Mangione harbored “ill will toward corporate America,” Kenny added.
Mangione graduated from a private all-boys school in Baltimore as valedictorian in 2016 before earning dual engineering degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, according to media reports, social media posts and school records. His last known address was in Honolulu, officials said. (read more)

Gateway Pundit has a photo of the gun. It’s a basic Glock and the frame doesn’t look 3D printed. The slide and barrel are metal of course. The barrel is threaded for the suppressor.
Palmetto95: Believe nothing about the alleged firearm.
Imma gonna go with what you said.
Exactly. It is NYC and they are both hostile and clueless about firearms. It is possible to assemble a Glock with zero Glock parts but you still have to have a frame which is the serial number part. In every place this guy seems to have lived, it is illegal to make your own frame outside the system so it would have to be obtained via the black market.
Bill – Easier to simply discount the probable veracity of the entire “story”.
The firearm was supposedly 3d printed as well as the suppressor. The making a firearm is legal in most states, however the suppressor is definitely a no-no. That is like making a machine gun. It may be legal, but you need to file paperwork with the ATF within a short time of making it.
If the firearm itself is homemade, no wonder it didn’t work all that well. Though a Glock looks like a crude piece of plastic with some metal bits sticking out of it, it is very precisely cast and machined so that it is reliable. From the surveillance video, the gun needed to be racked manually.
The pistol was/is a Glock 19, and no the suppressor was not 3D printed. The shooter had to rack the slide by hand each shot because he was not smart enough to use a “booster” with the suppressor as is required my almost all semi-automatic handguns using a suppressor. Anyone who knows anything about suppressors on pistols knows this.
Nielsen device
It has never been a problem in my experience. Not with a blow-back operated firearm like a G19. They run kind of dirty, but the mechanical operation of a blow-back gun is not impacted very much. Higher back pressure on a gas operated firearm is different, the gas pressure needs to be reduced or it slams the bolt back too hard. Perhaps your experience differs.
Or ,he unracked the between rounds on purpose, because they weren’t used rounds . And they had the writing on them. 🤔
Leaving a message. That is plausible.
Are you referring to this photo?
Slide isn’t printed.
The frame does. Sloppy looking guard…
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/12/official-mugshot-luigi-mangione-released-faces-five-charges/
Yes, that. Barrel, slide are all stock / factory parts. The frame looks sloppy. That could be 3D printed.
The grip frame does look like hell, but I suspect it was modified with a heavy stippling job and hand filing under the trigger guard.
You can get tips for woodburners or soldering irons to do such oneself.
I once sold a pistol completely untouched because by the time I figured out all the stuff I’d have to do to make it fit my hand I knew I’d just ruin it and never be able to sell it if it still wasn’t good enough for me; it was a long list of mods that went way beyond a stippling job, but this pic confirms the likelihood of the tragedy that awaited me if I pressed on!
So no charge on the suppressor? I take it that it was properly papered with tax stamp?
Slide and barrel look Glock although the threaded barrel is probably aftermarket. The frame looks a bit off although it could just be one of the multiple generations. The mag looks aftermarket which may explain the malfs. Only one I would trust is MagPul. Cartridges are FMJ which is kind of stupid.
Hopefully Musk will tweet what happened? Just wondering?
what is this? what is the context?
Apparently both YouTube and X suspended Mangione’s accounts and Musk didn’t know about it being done at X. My understanding YouTube subsequently lifted the suspension, wonder why? If they want to movevus to single payer Govt. healthcare, the abuses United heaped on its customers, including this photogenic kid and his mother,…is a narrative they want to maintain and even amplify,…and THATS why the manifesto was released.
However, the narrative that an ‘ordinary guy’ could stalk and gun down an ELITE, and get away with it,..not so much.

I knew a guy who had an IQ way higher than 130 … and paradoxically, there were times when he lacked wisdom and it quite negatively affected his life.
Would agree with your basic point regarding IQ vs wisdom – and that would address making the decision to commit the act itself. Intelligence also doesn’t preclude being manifestly evil.
That said, don’t think it comes anywhere near to addressing being found in a public place with the alleged list of items said to be found in his possession after having committed said act – much less having committed said act and knowingly shown your face to anyone in the city where it occurred.
What a mess!
All of these “lone gunman” (or woman pretending to be a man?) stories seem so bizarre. These people are smart enough to plot a near perfect murder but are caught why? Hubris? Wanting everyone to know it was him? It’s very confusing.
Bragging about what one does is indeed the act that causes a significant portion of the criminal population to be caught, especially when it involves a “high value” act (be it widespread knowledge of it or related to “street cred”).
There was nothing of the sort related to his actions or capture that is public knowledge – and that is often discussed by law enforcement if it is a factor. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t in this case – there just isn’t any data to support it at this point.
Bet Daniel Penny doesn’t look like this bod freak. This is the type that stands in front of the mirror at his athletic club and takes selfies, then heads to the shower to m_______te.
Two Ivy League engineering degrees and he kept all that evidence on him, including the phony i.d., murder weapon and helpful explanatory manifesto?
With a little more forebearance by the police, Luigi might have had time to finish writing and signing his confession.
I don’t think he intended to “get away” with it.
That is, he knew he was going to be caught, he even says so.
This killing was a statement and I think he intends to be a martyer to the cause,…
He wasn’t done executing; hence keeping gun and fake ID. Fake ID name wasn’t published, he could still use it…
This ^^^
Discussed this at work yesterday… we were wondering ‘why hang onto that stuff, he couldn’t be so dumb as to think he’d get to keep these items as mementos… must’ve been planning more hits?!’.
Then again, I’ve known some very smart people that lacked the sense to pour pee out of a boot with the directions on the heel.
Disgraced Former WaPo Hack Taylor Lorenz Followed Suspect in Murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Social Media🤔
FTA –
Following Mangione’s arrest on Monday, it has emerged that Lorenz followed him on the X platform. No further details are known about their relationship.

Luigi Mangione was ‘obsessed’ with back pain and the medical industry
Details from the suspected shooter’s social media reveal that he was obsessed with the back pain – and had read two books on the matter.
‘Crooked: Outwitting the Back Pain Industry and Getting on the Road to Recovery’ by Cathryn Ramin, and ‘Back Mechanic’ By Dr Stuart McGill are two books that were on Mangione’s Goodreads account.
On his X account, his cover photo included an image of a Pokemon, a spinal surgery X-ray, and a photo of himself on a hike.
It is unclear if he ever underwent surgery for back pain.
Luigi Mangione’s obsession with back pain and healthcare industry before UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting | Daily Mail Online
I knew two different people who had back pain. One of them committed suicide, which may or may not have been the primary reason for the suicide, I’m really not sure and didn’t ask. The other one entered rehab to try and get off the strong pain medication … the rehab was unsuccessful. … And of course, that said, neither one of them went out and shot someone in cold blood to deal with their pain. But ‘obsessed’ with back pain? I can sadly see that being a thing.
Yeah those patients were too busy trying to survive with the accepted pharmacopoeia in a World largely indifferent to their incessant agony, to have the wherewithal to harm anyone else.
When the answers from the “doctor” run out, the desperation sets in quick, and very little else matters but trying to sleep and function somewhat normally like most of us take for granted.
If that idiot wanted to know about back pain, he could’ve asked me about out it or just given me some cash and I would have hit him with a sledgehammer in between the shoulder blades..
His family is saying that he did have back surgery, and they could not contact him after that.
Who wants to bet he was on magical pharmaceuticals, I’ve been hearing about a lot of people being prescribed stuff and then acting almost insane.
Hawaii again? A real destination location for assassins apparently.
Hawaii? An interesting location for spawning halfrican moslem sodomites with no real birth certificate who are later paired with a big ugly man who wears wigs and women’s garb and gets selected for President…

A couple of things about Luigi Mangione. I saw pics of police cars posted outside the Mangioni family home, (presumably where he grew up), in Towson, MD, just a short drive from where I live. If he is the killer, Mangione is as cold-blooded as they come, repeatedly shooting Thompson in the back, cocking the bolt on his ghost gun after each shot. It also appeared that the gun jammed at least once, a common occurrence with 3-D printed weapons.
He’s a very smart guy…a little too smart. Probably thought he’d get away with it, else why wouldn’t he have ditched the gun and silencer before his arrest? There are no serial numbers on g guns so they’re virtually untraceable.

Feels like police authorities (probably FBI) used some sort of technology hidden from the masses (facial scanning?) and needed some sort of cover story to arrest him without exposing how they actually tracked him.

Luigi Mangione’s sprawling family found success after patriarch’s rise
Justin Fenton and Brenna Smith
12/9/2024 6:15 p.m. EST, Updated 12/9/2024 11:02 p.m. EST
Nick Mangione Sr. had a ready retort when people questioned how he had purchased a high-profile local country club in the 1970s: “They asked me what family I belonged to. I told them, ‘I belong to the Mangione family. The Mangione family of Baltimore County,’” he told The Baltimore Sun in 1995.
The patriarch of a sprawling Italian American family, who died in 2008, was a self-made multimillionaire real estate developer who owned country clubs, nursing homes and radio stations while supporting an array of civic causes.
His descendants — he and his wife, Mary, had 10 children — went on to be successful in their own right, including excelling in athletics at Loyola University and taking over the family businesses, while a grandchild is a state delegate. One of his 37 grandchildren is now a person of interest in the shocking killing in Manhattan of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old whose father led Mangione Family Enterprises, was himself off to a prominent start: valedictorian of the 2016 class at The Gilman School, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and an early career data engineer.
Luigi Mangione was taken into custody for questioning Monday morning after being recognized at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, police said. Late Monday, Manhattan prosecutors filed murder and other charges against him, according to an online court docket.
In a statement posted late Monday on social media, the family said it could not comment on the news reports.
“We only know what we have read in the media. Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest. We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved,” the family wrote. “We are devastated by this news.”
Thompson’s killer allegedly wrote, “Deny,” “Delay” and “Depose” on bullet casings, according to reports, and when Mangione was detained, the NYPD said in a press briefing that he had a handwritten manifesto denouncing health care companies.
Yet, the Mangiones have a long history of supporting local health care companies in Baltimore.
For decades, the Mangione family has been a cornerstone supporter of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, contributing more than $1 million to the hospital. Starting in 1983, every one of the family’s grandchildren, including Luigi Mangione, was born at GBMC — a tradition so ingrained that, as one family member noted in a hospital blog post, “It becomes subconscious. Delivering at GBMC is not even a thought.”
In recognition of their enduring support, the hospital’s high-risk obstetrics unit bears the Mangione name. Beyond GBMC, the Mangione Family Foundation has extended its philanthropy to institutions including the Kennedy Krieger Institute, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center.
The gifts are a product of the family patriarch’s success.
Nick Mangione Sr. was born in Baltimore’s Little Italy to a father who could not read or write. He enlisted in the Navy, fighting in the South Pacific, and upon his return attended college on the G.I. Bill and then worked as a contractor for two decades, according to The Sun.
He began building and owning nursing homes, office buildings and hospitals, including Harford County’s Fallston General Hospital, which has since closed.
He and his wife purchased the Turf Valley Country Club, now known as Turf Valley Resort, in 1978 and established the Ellicott City location as a golf course resort and residential community. The Mangiones built the property into Howard County’s only full-service resort and conference center, with a 220-room hotel, a pro shop, a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, a European-style spa, an 85-seat amphitheater and a fitness center, according to The Washington Post.
In 1986, they purchased what would become the Hayfields Country Club , a golfing and wedding venue built on Hunt Valley farmland that was known for bringing the first Hereford cattle to Maryland in the 1840s.
In 1988, Mangione Sr. purchased WCBM-Radio 680, a conservative talk radio station, and later two others.
Mary and Nick Mangione Sr. also founded a nursing home and assisted living company called Lorien Health Services. Luigi Mangione volunteered at Lorien to fulfill a high school community service requirement, according to a Gilman yearbook.
Nick Mangione Sr. said in 1995 that he was beginning to pass the torch to his children, in particular his two eldest sons, Louis and John, who were described as civil engineers. Louis, Luigi Mangione’s father, became the point person for the Mangione Family Enterprises.
“I didn’t have two nickels to rub together when my father died when I was 11, yet I still became a millionaire,” Nick Mangione Sr. told The Sun. “What other country can you do that in? None that I can think of.”
Mary Mangione, in addition to supporting the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, also supported the old Baltimore Opera Company and the Walters Art Museum, eventually becoming a Walters trustee.
The patriarch also drew controversy. Turf Valley made headlines in 1988 when Mangione Sr.’s now-deceased nephew, then Turf Valley’s manager, inadvertently left a message using a racial slur on an NAACP member’s answering machine, according to The Post. Mangione fired his nephew, but later rehired him as an assistant manager.
And in 1989, he clashed with Howard County officials after sediment control officers accused him of excavating without a county environmental permit while building a second Turf Valley golf course. He went to court and eventually agreed to a $5,000 settlement donation to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, The Washington Post reported.
Nick Mangione Sr. died in 2008 following a stroke; Mary Mangione died last year from Parkinson’s disease complications.
Loyola University’s pools bear the Mangione name, and six of his 10 children graduated from there, with several excelling in soccer. Nick Mangione Jr. helped the Greyhounds win the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II championship in 1976, and Sam Mangione was a regular on nationally ranked teams in the late 1980s.One of Luigi Mangione’s cousins, Nino Mangione, has served in the Maryland House of Delegates since 2019. The Republican is a member of the Appropriations Committee.
In recent months, Nino Mangione has joined the chorus of politicians concerned about the proposed Piedmont Reliability Project, writing in The Baltimore Sun this summer that the power line had no business being built in his constituents’ backyards.Nino Mangione also introduced legislation this year prohibiting “sexually explicit” material in public school libraries and media centers. The bill failed. He previously sponsored a bill that became law that allows disabled members of the military and disabled veterans who qualify for property tax relief to be refunded prior years’ payments under certain circumstances.
Nancy Pelosi’s family is also from Baltimore. Funny!

Nancy is on the left…
Her brother is pictured center.
Baltimore, Dec.11, 1953
“A Baltimore city grand jury recommended today that Franklin D. Roosevelt D’Alesandro, son of Baltimore’s Mayor, be prosecuted for lying during his recent rape trial.
“The grand jury also recommended that an indictment be drawn against James Pollack, long-time Democratic political leader, for trying to obstruct justice during the trial in which the youth won acquittal.
“The grand jury made its recommendations in which presentments, which in this state precede the issuance of indictments. D’Alesandro, 20-year-old son of Mayor Thomas D’Alesandro, was charged, with more than a dozen other youths, of moral charges in two girls, ages 11 and 13.”

There’s too many similarities with the usual themes of these “lone” killers for me to believe they really have the man who did this. I believe there was tremendous pressure on LE to pin the wrap on someone before the motives behind the killing became front and center news, all of which have themes that could be applied to many healthcare org’s business practices in the country now. Many people are viewing this almost like a Robin-hood style warning to the CEOs of the corporations who control our healthcare, which now has many of the CEOs running for private security body guards now apparently. Many see this as a shot across the bow regarding the public’s view of their business practices.
One of my senior citizen friends told me this company just decided to stop taking Medicare, and she just got dropped from her health insurance policy with them. Now she has to find another insurer in her area and get all new doctors. Good luck finding ones who will take Medicare now, since Medicare reimburses pennies on the dollar and demands mountains of paperwork to justify claims. She was enraged. Imagine how many millions of angry seniors there are in the country right now. And their children. And their grandchildren. Plus, many of these companies are starting to use AI now to process claims. (delay, deny them, which is what was allegedly spelled out on the bullets that killed the CEO) AI bypasses the Moral Distress that normal people would feel denying grandma her essential care, knowing it will mean she will probably die, since who can afford to pay out of pocket for the exorbitant costs of healthcare on a fixed income?
Yet this CEO’s salary was close to 10 million/year apparently. I would guess most of these CEO’s can’t even imagine what a majority of their customers lives are like. Do they understand or care about the devastating consequences of their ruthless decisions? Based on my experience working in healthcare and witnessing the decisions that are being made on high regarding staffing, etc, and how these impact patient care, I think not. “Let them eat cake” may be a popular mindset in the Board Room but in the world of consumers, maybe not so much. I can see why the powers that be need to arrest someone fast and try to bury this story as quickly as possible.
Remember Top men are now involved. Things do not add up. Unfortunately, there could be one of those accidentally suicides.
Regarding this whole case…over 500 comments here, so maybe I missed it….I can’t help thinking the CEO may have been taken out because he possibly was going to drop UHC’s involvement with Obama care? Maybe? Given Trump’s victory and his goal of trashing OC?
Was this a message to the incoming administration and congress? “Don’t Eff with Obama Care”?
Suspicious Cat? Paging Suspicious Cat….
At 26 years of age a person ages out of their parent’s health insurance.
^^^^^^^ This ^^^^^^^
My initial thought … a hit … and … a warning … before the Trump “uncovering” begins … keep your mouth shut !!!
And yeah, Hoodie Boy and Arrested Boy don’t seem to favour each other…
🤔
Maybe. Mangione, for some reason, spent a lot of time posing in front of various cameras….hostel, Starbucks, taxi, etc. You have to wonder why.
Now someone list the prescription drugs he’s been taking, especially antidepressants and/or antipsychotics.
psychotropic drugs … guaranteed to change & take charge of your “personality” … the preferred mass-murderers drug of choice.
Let’s not forget:
hmmmmm … let me guess … his “good friend” the Handler or Groomer.
oh shucks, there goes are 2A rights again,….
This is all very convenient.
Still had to the ” ghost gun” murder weapon on him?
Still wearing the same clothes , 5 days later?
As usual, the best info source I’ve found comes from the UK where they still have investigative journalists and not, like here, just news release transcribers:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14174379/brian-thompson-unitedhealthcare-ceo-latest-hunt-pennsylvania.html
Just one of the bazillion details there:
Maryland Republican Nino Mangione slammed for not turning in cousin Luigi for UnitedHealthcare shooting
The suspect in last week’s high-profile shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson is related to a Republican politician.
Maryland State Delegate Antonio ‘Nino’ Mangione, 37, is the cousin of 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, who was arrested Monday at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania in connection with the crime.
A member of the House of Delegates since 2019, the elder Mangione has yet to address the arrest.
As word spread that Mangione had been detained, Fox News hosts Sandra Smith and Jeanine Pirro reported on the revelation in real-time.
‘Another twist in this story, this just into our newsroom, the suspect’s cousin is a Maryland State Delegate,’ Smith said on the air.
… cause Joe turned in Hunter … wait? … wut??
Gee, another young man, with a manifesto, weird circumstances, nothing to see here. Langley can’t even change the script at all. Maybe accuse a woman using a wrench in the parlor.
Langley would never do an op without a script, and the first step of the script is absolute, complete secrecy and deniability. Those ops are set up with every small detail weighed in and taken into account. No expense spared.
Taylor Sheridan, of Yellowstone fame has a another show streaming on Paramount Plus that shows exactly how this works. Show’s called:
“The Lioness”
If something like this was done by Langley no one would ever get caught and very few people would even be read into the op…..
FBI rounding up everyone with bushy eyebrows. Interesting how we can’t accept what we’re being “told” anymore as fact.
Good morning, Sundance, our wonderful moderators, & everyone!
Please listen to this really insightful info about “UnitedHealthcare” . . . . I can’t verify that this is true, but it seems to be based on other things I have read. I had NO IDEA!!! 🙁
from Krista Monroe (@MsKristaMonroe on Twitter/X):
ATTN: Everyone!
Listen to this incredibly invaluable breakdown of the situation with United Healthcare.
Gives some chilling context!!

Five days to catch this guy, while the J6 bomber just cannot be located.
Luigi Mangione, pretty dumb for a smart guy… obama was the one who destroyed Real health care in the USA…
no doubt your back surgery was done by a “so called” doctor who had obama qualifications…
A lot of people who go to college these days aren’t very smart. My plumber has more “street smarts” than many of these people. They think that degree carries wisdom and the ways of world. It doesn’t.
