Maybe I’m just an optimist or trust Trump too much, but I think the reason for these early nomination announcements is part of the strategy. He wants us (and himself) to see the RINO, and Uniparty “republicans” to reveal themselves.

Do we really have to have a Sec. of Defense who WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER a lesser role? I doubt Hegseth even has made that demand. Or would, if he’s a team player.

Get someone we can work with that passes the senate. Bring Hegseth in, in a consultant or collaborative role.

I’m not sure I believe this rumor, but stranger things have happened. As a Floridian I would prefer DeSantis serve out his term.
That being said to be fair to DeSantis I do believe he’d clear the woke out. I don’t believe he’d give POTUS grief over helping with deportations.
On the downside, I think DeSantis supports the Ukraine war. Not so sure he could be counted on to clean up the budget though. On the one hand his track record says yes, but on the other his personal track record says he’d have an eye toward a cushy defense contractor board position and not seriously reign in spending.
What about General Flynn or Eric Prince. I’m sure there are others that would be a better fit.

After the way DeSantis tried to win the nomination over Trump, it’s not believable that Trump would reward “DeSanctus” in this manner. Better to leave him in the Florida governorship until his office ends in January 2027, after which he will be out of politics and hopefully will lose political momentum.
