The fire was probably a legitimate accident – racing through timbers that were hundreds of years old. (Really, it’s amazing that such a thing didn’t happen many centuries earlier.) The reconstruction now includes a sophisticated fire-detection and suppression system that is designed not to be visible from the sanctuary floor. My first thought upon reading the headline was Sundance’s last sentiment in the article; the Security for Trump needs to be super beefed and on high alert at all times. In my opinion, President Trump isn’t going for Macron but the symbolism and pure pleasure of being at this event. I, too, would prefer he stay home and close until after he is in power. My mistrust is more aligned to our three letter agencies than those abroad.

Millions of hours of specialized labor have been invested in the project over the course of five years. We want to watch the Archbishop rap on the front door with his scepter, call to be let inside, and then watch the doors being opened at last. And then, to celebrate Mass for the entire world to see.
