I have not been this stunned, surprised, shocked or taken aback since President-Elect Donald Trump announced Matt Gaetz as the next United States Attorney General.
Using his Truth Social account to capture attention, President Donald Trump announces, “Kashyap “Kash” Patel will serve as the next Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

As interesting as the announcement is, so too is the wording President Trump selected; not “nominated“, not “appointed,” a simple “will serve as“… Thereby leaving the maximum amount of interpretability available for the consumer of the announcement.
This has to be the most Trumpian announcement in the history of some very Trumpian announcements.
FBI Director Christopher Wray has approximately two years left on his term, and he has not announced his resignation. It should also be noted President-Elect Donald Trump did not say anything about firing Chris Wray, which would be in bad form considering that President Trump couldn’t even entertain the approach until he is officially inaugurated in January.
That dynamic quickly triggered the FBI to respond with: “Every day, the men and women of the FBI continue to work to protect Americans from a growing array of threats. Director Wray’s focus remains on the men and women of the FBI, the people we do the work with, and the people we do the work for.”
One element is certain. By saying, “Kash will work under our great Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to bring back Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity to the FBI,” you can be guaranteed Bondi is going to be asked about it during her confirmation hearings.
So, what does all this mean?
I have no idea, and, quite frankly, knowing Trump, I’m not going near this with a 10-foot pole.
Perhaps it is better to wait a little while and wait until someone asks President-elect Donald Trump how exactly Kash Patel is going to “serve as” the FBI Director, and what approach President Trump will take in order to make that announcement turn into a reality.
I’m sure Chris Wray, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell and John Thune will also be watching earnestly to see what President Trump proposes.
The level of ‘splodey heads amid the current and former FBI officials, in combination with the entire corporate media apparatus that circles American politics, are predictably going to be off-the-charts. The apoplexy visible within the Gaetz nomination will pale in comparison.

South Sudan quickly descended into ethnic genocide–Christians vs Christians (pretty much totally ignored in American press). This genocide was horrific and bloody–sort of like Rwanda or Liberia.

Just delegate authority to a “czar” or an “emissary” or a “whatever” or even a lesser employee already in place who simply won’t carry the title. What’s Congress or the courts going to do.

I never understood the cheerleading for her nomination. Her authoritarian record was plain for all to see, and signs were that she supported the replacement of the American population by third-world peasants. Lots of conservative judges would have voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, that alone should not have been the deciding factor. She didn’t want to hear the case that ultimately resulted in Roe v. What does this string of events since the election involving personnel selections for the DOJ and the FBI all mean?
The operative context here is that the country is currently leaderless and Donald Trump is acting, for all practical purposes, as the defacto president in managing several important national issues, even though he hasn’t yet been inaugurated.

I wonder if there are any vacancies for a shopping mall security guard after the holidays? This reminds me of the proverbial Sword of Damocles that @sundance always talks about. In this case the sword is hanging over Chris Wray. Trump is doing to Wray what Wray and the FBI did to Trump for the past 8 years by making Wray lose sleep and playing mind games on Wray.

Patel has already gone through the confirmation process previously. I don’t think it’s the same this time; that part has been completed. I think this is why Trump took awhile to announce, he’s toying with theme while doing as he promised.

Remember…it was Comey…before Wray. Wray came in and took over an already corrupted FBI. He didn’t do the corruption..he has been overseeing the corruption.
It would be quite interesting if…..and I say if…Wray….who was appointed by Trump after Trump fired Comey…was a sleeper. In position to document and store evidence of the corruption in the FBI all these years Biden has been in office…and prior…..to have the paper, documented evidence of crimes and corruption by said enemy.

Regarding what Alex mentioned on page2 of this thread about Kash being groomed for the FBI slot, perhaps this explains why he didn’t out Mary Mccord when he and Devin were confronted about their signatures fraudulently attached to a 702 renewal document Mike Rogers produced a few months ago. (forgot the entire story, but this was a moment when I think Sundance lowered his opinion of Kash). Basically, he didn’t want to have any attack vectors in his future confirmation hearing. Just a guess.
