During an appearance in Kazakhstan today, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a press conference with Russian journalists who asked questions about the current conflict with Ukraine.
Before getting to the video, it is worth mentioning that our western viewpoint of Russia respecting strength; is not entirely accurate. There is something Russians respect more than strength, brutal honesty.
One of the things that separates Russians from their eastern European counterparts, is their keen ability to detect and dismiss bullshit. If you watch Russian engagement, from either inside or outside of Russia, their non pretending is truly an artform. Even the silent space between their words is something remarkable to watch.
In this first video segment, Russian President Putin is asked about the motives of outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden to escalate the NATO conflict with Russia. President Putin responds by outlining genuine, factual and honest motives that political pundits in the USA pretend not to know. It’s fascinating to watch:

Why the presser? Why the questions? Why the willingness? Look, I’m no Putin whisperer, but I can see a brutally obvious motive of Vladimir Putin speaking directly to President Trump, through the media. For a myriad of reasons, including the honesty of his responses and statements, this approach seems completely logical and practical.

I laugh when I watch the bobble headed lame brain clowns on TV ,describe Putin and Russia as evil. The people we have IN DC and for that matter most government offices are as crooked as a barrel of snakes. These TV clowns are like,the pot calling the kettle black.
Mr. Putin is a shrewd man, indeed. In a sense, he’s between a rock and hard place: He’s riding a very angry bear (a convenient Medvedev, et. al.) while facing down a sociopathic, escalatory West. Maybe sees Trump as a final hope since he’s the only major western leader actually talking about real peace. So Mr. Putin publicly sympathizes with Pres. Trump and hopefully widen the gap between him and the sociopaths and eventually establish a real peace. I genuinely believe Putin wants off the escalatory ladder as we all know where that will lead. We’ll see what he does in the next 48 hours or so when the NOTAM expires over their missile test range.
I have faith that Trump and Putin will end the war in Ukraine without any escalation on either side. Both of them are smart men, and both are stone-cold realists. No one on either side would be helped by escalation, while both would be greatly helped by the termination of conflict.
Trump is a businessman. He will find a face-saving way for both sides to step back from the fighting and end the conflict.
The key issue though is not stopping the war now.
Its stopping it being restarted in the future. PDJT may find that harder to achieve than he thinks.
The future depends on NATO. NATO depends on US paying for it. Trump will not have US doing that.
Zelensky should be offered a choice. Give up, hold your job and what’s left of Ukraine for help rebuilding, or, escalate, die, and Ukraine gets split in half.

If there is any truth to the reports of Kellog’s peace plan, he has got it mostly right but there are two problems. First, Russia can probably be persuaded to accept ceasefire line monitors but there is no way they will accept NATO troops. Any peacekeepers have to be neutral. The only nation that I can think of that is neutral and big enough to staff the line is India. Second, making Russia pay for Ukrainian rebuilding is a non-starter. Russia can probably be persuaded to pay for reconstruction on their side of the line but no way are they paying for Ukraine. Make the EU/UK or G7 (less the US) pay. It’s their war in which they used Ukraine as a pawn to whack Russia. They could also remigrate all the Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
Russia is not going to accept a “demilitarized zone.” They know perfectly well that this would only be used to try to “re-arm the proxy, again.”
They are going to accomplish all of their stated goals – whether by military force and military surrender, or by negotiation if such negotiations happen “in good faith.” (Which, as they now know, is extremely unlikely: they already tried twice before.)

Putin is very-openly saying, in very calm and rational terms, what badly needs to be said to maintain any shred of “world peace.” He knows that the people who are today feeding Joe Biden’s teleprompter are incapable of listening to it – but Trump and his team will listen.
