RFK Jr was likely to face blistering questioning and tenuous confirmation as HHS secretary, given his statements of intent about security American food supplies, diminishing the influence of Big Ag and confronting the Rx and Chemical industry. These are the corporate business sectors who pay the most for lobbyists in Washington DC.
By nominating Kelly Loeffler as Secretary of Agriculture, President Trump assuages the fears of the multinationals and likely makes the nomination of RFK Jr a little more stable. Loeffler will be a guarantor of the corporate interests that RFK Jr threatens.

It’s not quite that simple when fruits and vegetables are being contaminated with GMO ingredients, coatings, and sprayings. Yes, even the “organic” label is subject to chemicals. You have to source the ingredients and become a from scratch chef/cook and commit to zero processed foods, which means no eating at a restaurant either, grass fed beef, chicken, pork, etc. No more convenience of any kind. That is a hard habit to break for most. Speaking from a food purist perspective.
There is no way I could have grown a meaningful amount of food while living in a condo in Houston, working 50-60h/wk, and rearing my daughter as a single mother.
I spent a fortune at Whole Foods (pre-Bezos) and cooked at home for a lot of our meals.
Being force-fed propaganda about dietary fat and salt didn’t help either.
Now I live in a small city in a mostly rural area. Growing some of my own foodstuffs from heirloom seeds is great. That would have been impossible before. Picking up raw milk at a dairy farm is great but could not have happened before retirement and relocation. After deciding to put beef back into my diet, I had to spend time on the internet to find a ranch in Texas with their own packing plant that sells grassfed/grass-finished beef raised on Audubon certified pasture.
It is not simple and it is not cheap.
If we did not have the electoral college, the big cities and the “experts” who inhabit them would hold the bulk of the power over what goes into our mouths. I have to say I was like most here when RFK announced her as his running mate. But since he has come over to the Trump administration, I have seen more of her.
