I can’t find the video, but the Congressman who made the allegation was speaking directly to the reporter. He claimed Gaetz regaled him with stories about Red Bull and Viagra “to go all night long” and also showed photos. Not clear exactly what the photos showed. I assume it wasn’t quite up to Hunter Biden levels, or if it showed any depravity at all. Or if it even happened.
Of course, Gaetz denies the allegations about prostitution and sex trafficking, which DOJ never charged him with indicating that there isn’t any evidence to support criminal wrongdoing.
He has always struck me as a creepy and opportunistic type.

The President has a lot of political capital, but is a hard confirmation fight that may not ultimately succeed over this nominee really what he wants to spend it on? The least of his crimes was making fake IDs for himself to conceal his numerous other crimes, like embezzlement from the tax collectors office, getting others to lie to cover his crimes, and framing others running for his office of tax collector. This person was a teacher and Greenberg sent anonymous letters to the principal and other teachers alleging that the candidate raped students. He then set up fake twitter accounts in the name of his opponent to frame him as a white supremacist.
I watched MeetKevin talk about some of the articles. Whether true (paying for sex or drugs) or not, it doesn’t look good and would be a hard sell during the confirmation. I think it’s best it came out now and he withdrew himself. If he’d opened with Paxton, for example, there would have been the same pushback and apoplexy. Now that he’s hit them with Gaetz, and withdrawn, the RINO’s have a “win” and Paxton seems much more reasonable by comparison.

It says that CONFIRMING the validity of an alien’s documentation and, thereby, possibly catching fraudulent documentation is VERBOTEN! This is actually indented in the code, probably so employers don’t miss it:

The Justice Department announced that it has secured a settlement agreement with Navajo Express, a Colorado-based trucking company that operates nationwide. The settlement resolves the department’s determination that Navajo Express violated the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) by discriminating against non-U.S. citizen workers when checking their permission to work in the United States.
“When employers reject workers’ valid documentation proving their permission to work and demand other types of documentation, they construct unnecessary hurdles that can mean the difference between a worker getting a job or not,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “The Justice Department will continue to hold employers accountable for discriminating against workers because of citizenship, immigration status or national origin.”
In other words, checking that the “appears on its face to be genuine” documentation which COULD be fraudulent and has a high likelihood of being so is in fact NOT fraudulent is VERBOTEN! In other words, “two forms of ID” is NOT permissible to request from aliens, just from YOU.
BTW, WHO is the only person responsible for changing that code if it isn’t effective? From that code:
(1)(A) The PRESIDENT shall provide for the monitoring and evaluation of the degree to which the employment verification system established under subsection (b) provides a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States and shall examine the suitability of existing Federal and State identification systems for use for this purpose.
(1)(B) To the extent that the system established under subsection (b) is found not to be a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States, the PRESIDENT shall, subject to paragraph (3) and taking into account the results of any demonstration projects conducted under paragraph (4), implement such changes in (including additions to) the requirements of subsection (b) as may be necessary to establish a secure system to determine employment eligibility in the United States.

But the most deplorable effect of all is that diminution of attachment and reverence which steals into the hearts of the people, towards a political system which betrays so many marks of infirmity, and disappoints so many of their flattering hopes. I have said this since my first testimony before the Senate on February 23, 2021. Actions were taken to prevent the National Guard from being near the Capitol on Jan 6. I was denied their support in advance of Jan 6 over the concern for optics, and again my urgent requests were repeatedly denied on Jan 6 by Lt. Gen. Piatt at the Pentagon over the concern for optics.
The DC National Guard was within Walking distance of the US Capitol, and the Pentagon wouldn’t send them. The New Jersey State Police arrived before the DC National Guard!
