The co-chair of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Vivek Ramaswamy, appears with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the goals and intentions of the DOGE effort.
Ms Bartiromo continues to pull the conversation back to the need for Ramaswamy and Musk to go to the legislative branch for permission to reduce government waste. Over and over again, Ms Bartiromo frames this discussion around: DOGE must go to congress for permission.
Note to Ms. Bartiromo. DOGE is an initiative of the Executive Branch; specifically, an authorized agency with authorized officials carrying the plenary and absolute power of the Presidency. The President is the Executive. The Dept of Govt Efficiency, along with all of the other institutions and offices mentioned by Bartiromo, are subsidiaries within the Executive Branch.
This is the Executive Branch, a plenary power, reducing the size of the Executive Branch and eliminating waste within the Executive Branch. There is no part of this effort that needs permission, authorization or approval from the Legislative Branch. That entire line of thinking is structurally flawed. WATCH:

I’m usually on the extreme side of conspiratorial personalities, but here, I believe that it has more to do with Beltway stock portfolios than anything else.
Obviously, those with a front row seat to government contracting know which companies to invest in, and many are extremely well invested in these companies’ stock. Moreover, Bartiromo, aside from her political news programing, continues to report as well on market forces and financial issues.
Therefore, the issue re Congressional power vs. Executive power and the likelihood that one or the other will prevail bears directly on whether fund managers will or will not begin to unload some of their more exposed government contract stocks, and if so, to what extent it will occur, and which stocks would be most affected by this efficiency effort, and those that would be least affected.
Expect Maria to program congressional input on this whole issue going forward and also expect millions of others to engage in the game of handicapping the likelihood that their own stock portfolios will need rebalancing or not.

I was just attempting to make that very same point in another thread ( where I’d posted that MB VR clip also ), as a possible unwanted effect of telegraphing the intent for some sweepingly dramatic changes. Some including elimination of entire agencies.
I’d love to see a “white board” peeling off of agencies ala what Milei in Argentina has done. But I wouldn’t tell the agencies until I had all contingencies planned for, and counter measures in place. Why tell them. Just do it.

I think any “suspicion” is by now deserved and sadly, my default stance, pretty much. “Conspiracies” abound, and usually directly proportional to the theories of them.
I don’t know what others tire of but I relish attempting to ferret the “ulterior motives” and source of any possible “conspiracy”. Usually found if one digs deeply enough when it comes to politics. Some require no digging at all! Like prima facie stuff.
So my default position regarding things of a political nature, is that most are engaged in collusive activity and if illegal, then an actual conspiracy of one kind or another.
Also, the main reason I chase down and expect “conspiracies” and theorize about them, is because I know the origin and coining of the phrase, its introduction into the oft repeated lexicon of liars as it was and still is a linguistic strategy designed solely to disparage, dismiss, and diminish any argument or notion that ran contrary to the findings of The Warren Commission” released after JFK was murdered by the Ci..umm L.H. I have mentioned before that I have done contract work for multiple federal agencies and I am currently working at a VA/teaching facility right now. So I have a broad base of experience with the feds. The current VA I am at is quite large and the contract physicians see 18 patients per day and the full times ones maybe see 6 pts per day (you read that right). The managers, administrators and etc spend most of their time in endless meetings, committees, conferences and such that produce no tangible physical work product. What I warn people that come to the VA and other fed agencies is that these people essentially do not work. So that means if you rock the boat they can devote all their time undermining you and the taxpayer is footing the bill. The last VA I was at took about 15 months to change Obama’s pictures inside the facility to Trump’s when he won in 2016. DOGE has their work cut out for them. They are going to find out soon enough that they are going to need to be ruthless.

The President is well within his duty (and his Oath) to abolish all administrative offices that even attempt to make law for the nation as a whole. This is not ambiguous. This is not arguable.

It’s very simply to understand – The President IS the walking talking Executive Branch.
The President could fire everyone who works for the Executive Branch just after the Oath of Office is completed and the ONLY recourse is Impeachment.
As soon as D.O.G.E. recommends elimination of most of the bureaucracies through which they fund stupid, worthless, and wasteful spending which then gets skimmed back to these same “representatives” who vote for it THEN we will see the real stonewalling, whining committed by these RINO losers.
They are only just beginning to put their faces on TV. They will all be crying about “saving democracy”, “for the children”, “save the planet”, and “safety net for the least among us”.
If PDJT and Team can, through the powers of the Executive Branch (the US President) rid the country of this filth then the incentive to be a lifelong bureaucrat, lifelong elected representative, or any other lifelong leech position will massively reduced. Then we can get term limits on the books (just like the presidency) OR make the jobs so unprofitable that people stay in them for one or two terms and then leave.

Congress is responsible for most of the waste in government. Low efficiency is the fault of congress and executive branches. However, with the “mandate”, now is the time to codify the savings and avoid the endless rounds of executive orders. We The People want substantive, long lasting, changes. You won’t be able to make “smart changes”, it will come down to we just need a 75% RIF, and the problem will sort itself out. If not, then a 90% cut like X.

Repeating what I said in response to an earlier Sundance article, the question has been asked, is there a Plan B in case the Senate refuses to confirm President Trump’s choices for high level political appointments?
IMHO, there isn’t a Plan B per se. There is instead one Plan A which embodies the expectation that the Senate will refuse to play ball with some of the more controversial nominations, those which are the most aggressively anti-Swamp. Or even possibly all of the President’s nominations in a ploy to bend President Trump to the Senate’s will.
If this is what happens in January, 2025, I think President Trump will counter this ploy by using a combination of acting managers working in the role of nominee surrogates, plus reams and reams of Executive Orders drafted by the prospective but not confirmed nominees.
And he will do this completely transparently in a way which consciously and deliberately invites hundreds of lawsuits in a Constitutional Battle Royale with the Deep State, the Democrats, and with the GOPe Never Trumpers for control of the DC Swamp.
As a consequence of these lawsuits, and in light of the Senate’s probable refusal to confirm many of his appointments, President Trump will then ask the Supreme Court to render a quick opinion which clearly defines what he can and cannot do with a combination of acting managers and Executive Orders in directing the operations of the Executive Branch while his nominations are before the Senate.
Donald Trump is not one to avoid a fight. His fight with the DC Swampers in the Senate, in the House, and in the Deep State is one which has to be won, and won quickly.
The best way to do that is to bring this fight on quickly knowing full well that no progress can be made unless he can use the constitutional authorities granted to him as Chief Executive to get the job done for the people who elected him.
IMHO, Maria Bartiromo and her bosses at Fox News know that the Pitched Battle for Control of the DC Swamp between Donald Trump and the Senate is coming on soon and are now positioning themselves to exploit it for their own financial and political gain.
I don’t want us to go through all of this effort to deconstruct the monster, only to leave in place its biggest source of fuel and cause inefficiencies…the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978.
A legislative priority for this administration without exception must be a total repeal of the 1978 Act and all related legislation, and replace it with the CSRA for the 21st Century. That would have generational impact on eliminating much of the waste and inefficiencies in government. If we don’t do it during these first two years, it may never get done.
