Newly elected Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), held a press conference today to answer questions and introduce his leadership team: Assistant Majority Leader, also called the Republican “whip” John Barrasso (R-WY), Republican Conference Chair Tom Cotton (R-AR), Republican Policy Committee Chair Shelly Moore Capito (R-WV), Republican Conference Vice Chair James Lankford (R-OK), National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Tim Scott (R-SC). WATCH:
.

During the Wyoming Republican Convention, a video message from our national representatives was played. Sitting in the center was Harriet Hageman, with Senators Barrasso and Lummis on her right and left. In his remarks, Senator Barrasso made a peculiar comment about his recently deceased wife. He mentioned that she had said to him, “Hopefully, I see you in Heaven.”
That statement stuck with me and felt unsettling. I know my wife would never say “hopefully”—she would have the confidence to say she knew we’d see each other there. But perhaps, if one were part of the political “swamp,” such uncertainty might seem natural.
Here in Wyoming, many of us had to hold our noses to vote for Barrasso. Unfortunately, during the Republican primary, a candidate entered the race early and spent much of their campaign muddying the waters, which hindered a clear and unified choice.
Being said I know factually that Barrasso did grovel a bit for votes. Lets see if he lives up to his word and gets to meet his wife in Heaven.
It may have been lack of confidence in Heaven itself, not necessarily lack of confidence in him…
(just sayin’)
Crapo is about as crappy as it gets here in Idaho. I think I might hit up Musk for funds to get rid of Crapo and the other RINO in the next election. They both voted for McTurtle Jr.
Maybe she was the one who thought she might not make it into heaven.
Frankly, I would say the same to my husband. He is a man of science and doesn’t really believe that much in God, or believes that he is set on his path and God won’t want him. So he doesn’t seek forgiveness. Some people just don’t reach out to God or believe they are worthy. People in science tend to worship only that which they can prove and see. They’ve lost the appreciation for the mystical.
That’s not true of all scientists (I’m one and I believe in God), but it is true for a lot of them. Barasso is a man of medicine, could have similar biases about the Divine.
I’m a faithful man, and one of science as well, and I find the more I investigate HOW things work or are put together, the more I find that SOMEONE (Intelligent design) had to have put it together, and put it in place for us. There’s too much order, too much majesty in what happens in the smallest molecules of water, for instance. Our bodies are miraculous and efficient machines (when we take care of it and eat well, and aren’t poisoned by the food we buy). There are too many miracles all around us, even in the science, for me not to believe in a God.
For all the intelligence we claim to possess, we still can’t figure out how the body works, and are constantly in awe of new discoveries in space, beneath the ocean, or even in what Nikolai Tesla was able to discover.
Might I suggest a book for your husband called “The Case For Christ” by Lee Strobel. I am also a scientific, logical, see the evidence type of person and that book lays out the evidence and makes the case for Christ and who He says He is. It brought me to Christ when I was 39 and saved my life. I really pray he finds the Lord. Hell is a horrible place to spend eternity.
The verbiage could well have been addressing doubts about herself and not him.
I have watched him prop up McConnel for so many years, one cannot have that much respect for Senator Barrasso. He is and has been one of the Turtle’s primary lieutenants for a number of years. He needs to go. He’s never did a damn thing that I can remember.
I joke with my wife that I will be in heaven waiting for her to get out of purgatory. But then in heaven we neither marry nor are given in marriage so not sure what to expect in that regard.
Tulsi Gabbard just picked for DNI.
HERE’S ANOTHER ONE:
ABC NEWS IS REPORTING MATT GAETZ IS TRUMP’S PICK FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL.
The regime is melting down about Pete Hegseth too.
“Christian Nationalist”
“Alpha Male”

I’m so here for it!!!
The Supreme Court granted him nothing. It is The U.S. Constitution that gave Presidents immunity, for good reason. So crooked slugs like the DOJ and CONgress could not run roughshod over the people’s choice to lead our country. The Supreme Court merely reminded the crooked slugs that they were pout of line.
Nice try. No cigar.
Why would he put a Democrat in that position? I may be the only one here who doesn’t like her slick turn a round! She has an agenda, and it isn’t MAGA as far as I’m concerned.
Then he fires her right?
You should read her BIO at President Trump’s Truth Social Post.
It will make you feel better.
And Tulsi is now a Republican. She switched parties.
Excellent point, everybody’s over-looking that.
Just like Trump and Reagan!
Gabbard is a registered Republican.
Try to remember that both Reagan and Trump were both life-long Democrats before they switched parties.
If Donald Trump was a “life-long Democrat” then why was he a special guest of George H.W. Bush at the 1988 Republican National Convention and on Bush’s shortlist for VP, and why did he tell Wolf Blitzer that he was a Republican, and had always been a Republican?
Donald Trump registered as a Republican in Manhattan in 1987. Since then, he has changed his party affiliation multiple times, including a switch to the Democratic Party in 2001 before returning to the Republican Party in 2009.
Donald Trump needed to register as a Democrat to get his building permits.
I never thought of that.
wasn’t she in that Klaus schwab school ?
And everyone thinks it’s great. Has any American done any investigation into any of these people? Mike Waltz is going for National Security Advisor and his wife is with WEF and CFR. How much more globalist can you get. Waltz as a veteran, voted in the 2022 NDAA for women to be drafted. He also voted against VA help for chemical injuries, like Agent Orange, to be taken care of by the VA. He and 46 other Repubs also voted to codify into federal law, gay marriage. Again this is not one of the government’s Constitutionally enumerated powers, neither is slander and libel or abortion. They keep grabbing power and it doesn’t belong to them.
And what does anything you mention have anything to do with his position as National Security Advisor?
Could be worse, folks. I fully expected 2-3 GOP Senators to go Democrat of Independent to deny Trump a Senate majority.
Shocking how little we seem to be fighting the steal in PA. It feels like what the Democrats did to Norm Coleman when they stole his seat in MN.
Triggering a recount gives them more time to manufacture fake votes.
Ditto Arizona
PA and AZ steals, coupled with a few defections (Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski?). Sounds like the play.
And WI
Ditto Wisconsin
Corrupt PA. Governor, Josh Shapiro and his sidekick AG, Al Schmitt always manage to keep their devious doings out of the news. Shapiro is rumored to have an “IN” with major Deep State politicians and media. Candidate Mc Cormick had a 40,000 plus vote lead last week; now it’s dwindled to barely 30,000 after the last (red) county’s votes came in. Bob Casey has done nothing for PA. after 18 years in the senate. Manufacturing votes seems rampant in Pennsylvania…
What course of action would be more effective?
Thune is up for re-election in 2026. In 2020 there were two Republicans opposing him in the primary. Thune got 72% of the vote. Voters MUST keep close track of what Thune says and does starting right now. If he criticizes or impedes Trump we must pressure voters in South Dakota to primary him. The earlier the better. Maybe Thune will be a surprise and be supportive of Trump, but we all suffer when voters in one state elect a Republican Senator and Representative who works against Trump instead of with him.
Maybe gravity will stop….
How about repealing the 17th amendment beforehand and retire Thune in 26?
Nope – Thune is up for re-election in 2028.
if the 17th were repealed—he could be recalled immediately by the state legislature. i cant think of ONE constitutional amendment that has been beneficial to WE THE PEOPLE!!!!
Not even the 2nd?
North Dakota.
With friends like these…
LOL they are siloed but some of the biggest streamer and ground game people are swearingg they will increase the turnout and be primarying people like cornyn. Be interesting.
I’m just glad we don’t have our usual gaggle of 💩 steering narrative control ops on the thread so far, for a change.
😏 😏 😏
😁 😁
😎
The last 6 or 7 days have been a s**t show in the comments.
In 2011 or 2012 I commented that the comment section is like poorly written fiction when elections come around. Seems no different this time.
That’d be ANYONE who disagrees with you – right?
👍
Not at all. Just OT deflectors, concern and fear peddlers.
Trying to spin it ain’t working.
Winner, winner…
Try harder.
Quick! Find a mirror!

narrative changers and steerers.
Hopefully after inauguration things
will calm down . 😵💫 🥴 😵💫

Not seeing RINO Joni Ernst in those photos. She was always ‘behind’ Turtle.
Cotton beat her out for that 3rd position in the hierarchy.
Perfect hire Lady Gaga and Oprah for the incumbent.

Can you imagine a world without the Alaskan Beast or the one from Maine who looks more and more like a lobster every day?
She is already colored red. A Maine Laubsta it is then… 😁😎
And we have a bunch of RINOs coming up for re-election in 2026: McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Tillis, Susan Collins, Tom Cotton, Haggerty, Mullen, Ernst & more.
Whoa!
Not crazy about Kristi Noem
I knew there would be one!
I’m just here to see CTH’s thoughts on Gabbard for DNI and Gaetz for AG. How he plans on getting him confirmed is beyond me but I love the pick.
I’m of the opinion that it’s a done deal with Thune for staying out of the Senate leadership fight. Thune has already committed to allowing recess appointments which was heresy to his mentor, McConnell.
I think Trump and DeSantis let the Senate RINOs know that Gaetz will be filling Marco Rubio’s seat if he isn’t confirmed to Attorney General.
recess appointment
I don’t know a lot but the picture of them all together in a group is kind of encouraging…rounding them up, exposing them together … in a circle. I don’t know…maybe the long game has been played, and maybe this is the great round up:)
And maybe they (Trump and the “good generals, not the TV generals” – Trump’s words) have the goods on them and told them you will do what is right, or we will expose your further). Don’t know at all – but a gal can hope (and pray! – a lot)!
Working with the premise that all politicians are bought and paid for. Then, you must consider who the buyer is. I believe that many of these ” picks ” have agreed to support the Patriot buyers ( who still have an agenda they expect to be met, but more in line with us conservative rubes ), Add in some discreet opposition intel – as in we know who and what funds you and why, you know, just enuf to make you toe our line for now.
Chess anyone?
Lankford was/is the moron who capitulated to dems on the “bipartisan” Secure the Border Bill which would accept up to 1.8 million illegals per year. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Dont forget it gave a path to citizenship to every illegal as well.
Yawn. Bunch of losers the lot of them. And I throw my own Senator Tom Cotton in that – he has ignored the election fraud. Sits on Armed Forces, Intelligence, and Judiciary committees.
And 2as at the infamous as3a Island meeting.
D.O.G.E. Aka Elon & Vivek should drastically cut committee funding.
Make committees great again.

UniParty
If we don’t clean up the Republican party we are done. No movement can survive without leadership.
I got more nauseous the more names I read. A veritable who’s who of bad RINOs.
Lankford is a very bad sign. Very very very bad.
The leadership of the Senate is the who’s who of people that will make things smooth/s
So this is the supposed republican senate leadership, certainly doesn’t look like much, nor very promising.
Going to be interesting to see how Tim Scott acts in the next year or so.
Thune is a piece of crap who will do his best to protect the Republican agenda, which is essentially, pretend to fight the Democrats while giving them 90% and collecting their share of grift. It’s harder to do when you have the whole government in your party, but that’s his problem. He’ll try to replay McConnel in 2016, but I don’t think it’ll work for him. Nowhere to hide anymore. If there is a Republican (there are many) to primary it is him when he’s up for reelection.
A rogues gallery of mediocrity.

One of the most important posts that I’ve read yet tonight. I think we here at CTH know the difference between Garland and Gaetz which highlights those first eight RINO names.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, as the song goes. Disappointing, but not unexpected. Our republic remains on life support.
The GOPe clearly hates being the majority and MAGA.
It is much more lucrative for them to be in the minority, capitulate under the guise of powerlessness. They do their deals under the radar, with cover from their publicly claimed opposition.
With the appointment of Kristi Noem to DHS, SD is going to need a new Governor. That could draw Thune out of the Senate setting us up for another shot at the leader. But the senate is full of squishes.
Ah…….
Article II Section 2:
Article II Section 3:
Congress, Senators, you’re on notice. This is no longer a game..
Pic of Cotton in first screen shot pretty much is how I feel.
What a gross lot of Americans. Makes the skin crawl. These people gotta go.
Quit voting for Capito since 2016.
Team Swamp
Jerry Moran is up on ’28…
Let’s get him primaried out.
I think Thune is another Establishment swarm can’t trust him,
I wish for Tim Scott for replace swarm’s.
Is that the same James Lankford who introduced the bill that “allows 15,000 illegals a day into our country”????? Yeah, I thought so.
John Thune for Secretary of Education.
What would be most beneficial for all of us to stay focused on the good, bad and ugly is in the beginning after thune finishes his nominating, would be a flow chart. The key still is our rapid response to the ill contrived when it appears.
WE took the National Countrywide vote- Now it is imperative to commune and take out some Locals. In Oregon, a failed State, this is more important than ever. We have to decipher why the National was a success, and here anyway the Constitutionally oriented ( conservitives ) lost in races. We have to hold the ground we take – at all cost. There are people here that are far more astute in this field than I. This fight has just begun, it is by no means over.
After giving the Democrats one of it’s greatest talking points about the Border, Lankford was given another position in power. Swamp wins.
I’m not sure that Thune’s entire team isn’t entirely ‘Establishment’ ? Good luck and…we’ll see ?
James Lankford and Mark Wayne Mullins are senators from Oklahoma who are wolves in sheep’s cloths. They are not Trumpers. They need to voted out very badly. I’ve called both offices so many times to protest their votes. When the time for voting, Sundance please help Oklahoman’s understand they are not MAGA but GOPers. Respectfully, NanetteDragoon
