CTH knew Main Justice was the target of greatest transition discussion when we wrote this. However, I had no idea the strategy would include an Attorney General nomination of such severity the officials inside the DOJ would likely begin to self deport.
If Matt Gaetz gets through the nomination process, there will be a mass exodus from Main Justice.
Within the dynamic of the decision-making, obviously it was the targeting of President Trump and his allies by the DOJ that led to such a severe response from President-elect Donald Trump.
The Main Justice Lawfare effort against President Trump and anyone in/around his immediate orbit, has been relentless for the past eight years. From Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell all the way to the 1,500 protesters from January 6, 2021, the attacks from within the DOJ and their appointed Special Counsels have been relentless. Gaetz is the response.

The next several weeks and months are going to be epic as this battle carries out throughout the Executive and Legislative branches. I also read that Gaetz resigned effective immediately because the House Ethics Committee was getting ready on Friday to release a report on the investigation they have been doing regarding Gaetz. The House investigation came about after Gaetz challenged McCarthy, even though the DOJ had thrown out any charges or questions about Gaetz. Gaetz immediate resignation means he is not subject to the House Ethics Committee any more.
Will they still release a report? I’d bet someone on the committee leaks it to the congressional Dems even if it isn’t.
If such a report exists there would be no point in nominating him. I can’t believe that he wasn’t fully vetted before the nomination announcement.

I met Rep Gaetz at a Trump rally in southern NH last winter. (shook his hand, told him no amnesty, then he stood beside me for some pics while we chatted). He worked the entire arena before President Trump took the stage, it was pretty cool.
Learned something new about him today: his dad was apparently capable politico, so it runs in the family. Carolyn Wren also pointed out that confirmation hearings will be an indictment of DOJ, so much will get exposed. 🤷♀️🤷♀️

If the Senate fails to confirm Gaetz or any of his initial appointments, Trump can always make recess appointments with any or all of them for one year.
He received a commitment yesterday from Thune, Cornyn, and Scott — unlike that traitorous weasel Cocaine Glitch McConnell during his first term– that whomever the Majority Leader is will enable recess appointments during The President’s second term.
And if Matt doesn’t get confirmed, Trump will just appoint Ken Paxton to act as temporary AG for a few months (however long the limit is). And when his time is up he can then replace him with Gaetz for a few months. Then back to Paxton … rinse and repeat. Might not even have to worry about confirmation. Four years of alternating Gaetz and Paxton would drive the bad guys absolutely insane.
