In combination with the nomination of Senator Marco Rubio to the State Dept., this sets the stage for a Senate situation where the upper chamber may attempt to derail the Gaetz nomination, yet Florida Governor Ron DeSantis could then appoint him to be the replacement U.S. Senator from Florida; thus, returning an angry MOAB back into the silo that derailed him.

CTH knew Main Justice was the target of greatest transition discussion when we wrote this. However, I had no idea the strategy would include an Attorney General nomination of such severity the officials inside the DOJ would likely begin to self deport.
If Matt Gaetz gets through the nomination process, there will be a mass exodus from Main Justice.
Within the dynamic of the decision-making, obviously it was the targeting of President Trump and his allies by the DOJ that led to such a severe response from President-elect Donald Trump.
The Main Justice Lawfare effort against President Trump and anyone in/around his immediate orbit, has been relentless for the past eight years. From Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell all the way to the 1,500 protesters from January 6, 2021, the attacks from within the DOJ and their appointed Special Counsels have been relentless. Gaetz is the response.

The next several weeks and months are going to be epic as this battle carries out throughout the Executive and Legislative branches. Additionally, I would be remiss if I did not note that Gaetz represents the biggest, irresistible bait for the Intelligence Community (IC) to watch being dragged in front of them. As a Texan, I was conflicted about Ken Paxton being named as AG. I, and many other Texans, didn’t really like the idea of Paxton leaving Texas. But on the other hand, I was hoping he would be selected because he has clearly demonstrated that he has what it takes to be Trump’s US AG.
But Matt Gaetz is an equally fine choice and I have every confidence in him to accomplish the task he’s been given. And it also gives me relief that Paxton will continue as Texas AG. And who knows? If Gaetz is not confirmed, Paxton may well be on that short list.
I feel the same way, I thoroughly enjoy reading about the things that Paxton has been doing.

President Trump obtains a couple possible outcomes with Gaetz’ nomination.
In the interim, some of the fellow travelers who are soiling themselves will simply bail in anticipation of Gaetz, or if no confirmation, Ken Paxton will be just as satisfying for MAGA.
If not qualified, Rubio’s Senate seat is warmed for Gaetz.
Either way, catalysis, and flushing has commenced.
If they won’t confirm Gaetz, or let Trump have a recess appointment. Paxton is the guy. It would be funny if the RINOs didn’t confirm Gaetz and end up with Senator Gaetz, and AG Paxton. They’ve both been abused by DOJ and would be equally good at depoliticizing it.

I was shocked to find out tonight that he resigned so that the process of filling his seat (FL requires at least 8 wks) could be started early.
If he isn’t confirmed and if RDS doesn’t put him in the vacant Rubio seat, then we lose him.

Many who are not lawyers have probably still heard of Brady material – any evidence that prosecutor might have that could exonerate the defendant. Biden withdrew Crews’ nomination after the hearing.
Gaetz better go through some extensive murder boards, if only because there could be some RINOs who’d sink his nomination. Cornyn and Tills are on the committee.

No, I’m a retired Philadelphia lawyer who saw quite a range of legal talent over 40+ years, including judges and federal prosecutors. One of the worst federal judges I saw was a Philly County Family Court judge who somehow got confirmed as a USDC judge. Guy did not have a clue. He slowly learned on the job, and probably made a lot of reversible error along the way, and became moderately competent. AG should not be an on-the-job training position.
Gaetz couldn’t even keep his law license active – it was suspended for non-payment of fees. He did get reinstated when he paid up.
The House resignation ends the ethics investigation, but the Dems can still bring up the underage sex and drug use allegations. Sheldon Whitehouse, of “boof” fame in the Kavanaugh hearings, is the sort who will bring this stuff up.
