I think we need fewer not more mergers and acquisitions. There are fewer and fewer choices for consumers. I have been following the U.S. House races very closely at 270towin.com.
As of this morning (Nov. 13) the number is 219 to 211 with 5 seats still not called. One at large in Alaska and four in California.
With 85% of the vote counted in AL the Republican is ahead by about 10,000 votes but with their rank counting system who knows what the outcome will be. The seat is currently held by a Democrat but, IMHO “should” flip.
There is a possibility that we can keep CA 13 and take CA 45. The Republicans are slightly ahead in each but there are still a lot of votes not counted. CA 9 and CA 21 are currently held by democrats and will probably not flip.

Conservative attorney Mike Davis, potential contender for President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general post, is seeking a list of those convicted in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Davis made the request in a post to X on Thursday, asking fellow conservative lawyer Julie Kelly for her “pardon and commutation lists.” Kelly describes herself as a “January 6 conspiracy theorist” and “insurrection denier.”
Davis also requested Kelly’s “list of the bad actors in the Biden-Harris Justice Department.”
Both attorneys have been highly critical of the legal perils against Trump, who was elected to a second term in the White House this week. Davis has previously suggested he would take “severe” legal action against special counsel Jack Smith, who is leading both federal criminal investigations against Trump.

An employee who was terminated from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for ordering government workers to bypass homes of Trump supporters said she was simply following standard operating procedure.
On Friday, the Daily Wire reported that FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington had instructed staff to “avoid homes advertising Trump” while “they canvassed Lake Placid, Florida to identify residents who could qualify for federal aid” after Hurricane Milton tore through the region in early October.
“FEMA always preaches avoidance first and then de-escalation,” Washington said. “This is not isolated. This is a colossal event of avoidance, not just in the state of Florida, but you will find avoidance in the Carolinas. Senior leadership will lie to you and tell you that they do not know.”
Washington said FEMA’s guidelines recommend agency employees steer clear of disaster-stricken streets where crews are encountering trends in hostility.

The standard should always be “is this doing more good than harm”? I think with modern dental care, brushing, etc, the benefit of flouride is minimal.

I have pretty bad teeth. I use a prescription toothpaste with a relatively high fluoride concentration and spit it out. Since I started using it, I have had very few cavities (hooray!).

The lethal dose for killing 50% of humans from ingestion of sodium fluoride is estimated to be 32 to 64 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. That’s the equivalent of 0.00114 ounces per 2.2 pounds. If you weigh 150 pounds, that’s about 3/40 of an ounce (0.0777 ounces) so it’s pretty toxic.
Don’t drink water withy fluoride in it and SPIT OUT fluoride toothpaste when done brushing.

Obama authorized 16 companies to audit and implement measures in GSA properties, both owned and leased. 16 firms received contracts up to $5 BILLION each to work on GSA facilities. I know most of those companies supported Obama and held rallies for his campaign. Try and find any govt reports on that work.
I had a chance to audit 5 properties involved, and the results were abysmal. Poor IAQ coupled with no energy savings was the norm.
Federal projects are excluded from local codes, so no oversight. Potentially $90 BILLION WAS WASTED, apparently paying back his supporters.
President Trump needs to audit GSA facilities for energy use and IAQ to ensure employees are working in a environment that supports their optimum performance.

The hospitals, physicians and insurance companies (who all commit fraud on an hourly basis) can NOT keep operating utilizing the same models and practices; it’s truly unsustainable. And losing staff everywhere does not help. Most folks have no idea how bad things really are.
We can see it crumbling. You go in the pharmacies and there are all these people having trouble getting their prescriptions filled, and no one knows where the holdup is.

I’ve never told this story before publicly but, I used to be a journalist covering human trafficking on the US Mexico border.
I’ve crossed the border illegally covering migrants and cartels countless times. I saw young women in the morgue after they were raped and brutalized in Juarez.
I saw a man get stabbed by a coyote in the gut, a terrible way to die. I know the sound a human makes when it happens. I knew a kid Neftali Fuentes who crossed 100+ times helping others not die in the desert across Arizona.
I’ve seen cartel wars play out on the streets of Juarez, bodies dangling from over passes. I’ve been held at gun and knife point before. Those who say open borders are humane have no idea what they’re talking about. You live in an air conditioned suburb that might as well be an ivory tower. Do not tell me what we do now is virtuous, it is cowardice.
I hope we do what is right which is secure the border, stop criminals from profiting off of misery and help support local governments to be better like El Salvador. If you don’t understand this, yet you’ve never been to the border, never spoken to border patrol, never seen the many crosses in the dessert maybe get down off your high horse and try to understand… or sit this one out.

On Wednesday, November 13th at 11 am Virginia House Privileges and Elections Committee has a hearing in Richmond, House Room C, Room 206, in the General Assembly Building, 201 N. 9th Street.
This committee is proposing to amend Virginia’s Constitution outside of legislative procedure to enshrine an unlimited right to abortion at every stage of pregnancy.
They are also proposing to amend Virginia’s Constitution outside of legislative procedure to change “qualifications of voters.”
It’s not apparent (purposefully) what voter qualifications they want to amend, but I think we can guess what they are with the recent Supreme Court decision that VA won.
Not one of our representatives are putting this out. All they do is attend events and post on social media for holidays. It’s infuriating.
Try to be there if you can.
They are trying to implement this without public knowledge or comment, and they will if we let them.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on pipe smokers. Particularly as the ‘64 Surgeon General report found that they outlived the non-smoker reference demographic. Yes, they live longer than non smokers. And nothing in the subsequent ‘73 Report contradicted that fact. This despite the clear finding that cigarette smokers suffer a definite life expectancy depreciation.
The speculated reason? The intense relaxation of moderate pipe smoking more than offset all the deleterious effects.
Here’s another fast and strange fact. Up until perhaps the last decade or so, physicians were among the most voracious smokers of all. Probably for the same reason. Stress relief.
I will submit to you that stress is a far bigger long term killer than 10-20 excess pounds. And there is likely no more stressful job in the world than the President of the United States.
So if an occasional quarter pounder relaxes this President, I’d say it’s fine medicine, all things considered.
