Yes,, thought just me.. up till midnight pretty sure things were going well, so I could sleep ok.. up late for me, but overwhelmed with texts, emails, so much information out there today. Haven’t even looked at the daily, and that is unusual for me.

Husband has been home today so he’s a distraction, but just not giddy like I thought I’d be.. not at all a let down, but a calm joy.. so why so drained? I do have a Trump bakery cookie to eat yet from 4 years ago I’ve kept it in the freezer for today.. who cares it’s 4 years old??

I think we are all just exhausted after the last almost four years. I’m feeling a big weight slowly lifting…not fast like I would have expected…but lifting it is. Today I listened to battle hym of the republic and that just filled me with American pride and glory to God…today tired but thoughts of Christmas coming and Thanksgiving coming and traditions will be celebrated and we will not be mocked! That gave me a spark haha. We’ve been through a tough time and so it’s time for me to give thanks to God many times today and each day. Tonight…a glass of wine in front of the fireplace and still praying thanks.

The fear of what another for years like the last four is dissipating. It’s just going to take more time for this to sink in.

my adult son came into our house singing I’m proud to be an American. My granddaughter in fifth grade told me all the kids on the bus were talking about the election and so happy!

Stress does that, Peoria.

Stay stressed out for too long, and the “fix” doesn’t make things automatically better.

Stress is *exhausting*, once it’s finally lifted.

So the steps are 1) Stress 2) Relief from Stressful situation, 3) Total exhaustion from being stressed out for so long and 4) Life finally goes back to normal.

Anyway, that’s always been my experience with Stress. That’s why it’s always best to avoid it if possible!

This Election has been stressful for *everyone*. (never mind the sh*tshow of the past 5 years)

But we Trump supporters are the truly lucky /blessed ones who got what we wanted.

I’ll take a couple days exhaustion for that, any day! Just get a good nite’s sleep and you’ll be back in tip top shape in no time.

I am relieved today. I feel like a weight has been removed, an injustice corrected, but I am not celebrating. I feel like this new administration is personal to us and it will make a difference in a good way for our country.

Perfect description. My lack of joy (excuse the expression) has to do with family – children and siblings. I am the only one who voted for PT and the only one outspoken about the C19 shots. The distance between us will grow wider because of this election.

Cautious optimism here. It’s better than feeling sick.

The euphoria should come later. Right now you are feeling the calming sense of relief.

It is similar to what happens when you survive a potentially fatal situation, like a firefight or a car crash. First comes relief. Then the euphoria comes later as you reflect on what might have happened if it turned out differently. Dodged a bullet. Out of immediate danger.

Good news is the euphoria can last a long time and pops back into mind again and again for years to come.

In fairness to all of us here, we vividly remember having the 2020 election all but secured before midnight and then stolen in the small hours. We watched what we were sure were certain victories stolen days after the election was over, especially in California. After last nights victory it’s been hard to relax and enjoy the fruits.
It’s different this time, I’m sure!

But this morning, I started reading the presidential thread. Of course the Stillwater, and Bible verses calm and cheer, but as I continued to read, I found myself laughing out loud. Country Class Vulgarian hit my not this morning and I’m still chuckling!

It brought you to mind, so I came back to this thread to comment to you. I’m hoping that the burden is being lifted off of you and that you are beginning to laugh and chuckle too.

Of course we must co to ie to pray and do the things we are able to. But it is also a time to rejoice. We truly have vanquished a fearsome foe.

Some replied that the NYT was infringing on their First Amendment right!

I didn’t laugh. This is the self-centered, “rules don’t apply to me” mentality we’ll still be dealing with for the next four years.
