I disagree – as long as it’s their own flag they burn and nothing else catches fire. It’s a free speech issue. It’s also a silly gesture that has no significant impact other than the reaction people get when they burn it. Why give them tinder for their little fire?

I agree John. As one of my SERE Instructors noted, “our flag in the hands of the enemy is just a rag”. The burning of our flag (with the exception of retirement) just denotes who the enemy is.
With that said, I believe citizens that burn the flag need to have their citizenship removed. A non-citizen, visa holder, H-1B, amnesty seeker, etc. are to be deported immediately and their families too. To disrespect a country willing to have you experience its fortunes is disgraceful and morally bankrupt.
Basically, I don’t want to pay to house, feed or care for them.

Then we all walked up from Battery Park to Mid-town, UWS, wherever people were headed.
There were too many people to get on the subway, so throngs just walked up the street. No room for any cars or busses at all!
