UPDATE: We will continue bumping this thread to keep the communication lines available.
...”I live in the Western part of the US; reading these comments is like listening in on a (telephone) party line. This is the first I’ve heard firsthand live reports from the people directly affected. For the first time there is no canned, approved spoon fed mis-information delivered by the faceless and unaffected paid to be there.”….
Which is exactly the reason we keep this thread going!
As the areas in Eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina and the Western gulf coast of Florida continue recovery operations from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our thoughts are with those who are still impacted and dealing with the long-term recovery process.
If you have stability and the ability to communicate, we are wondering how you guys are doing.

Working with several ground groups, we have sent toolboxes and resources into the area for the arduous tasks that remain. There are many who feel overwhelmed; just know our thoughts and deepest prayers remain with you. It will get a little better every day.
Resourceful teams (mostly electrical restoration experts) who learned quickly after they helped the Puerto Rico Mountain areas in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria are doing amazing work reaching some of the more isolated areas. These are good friends with a git-r-done approach.
Eastern Tennessee power has mostly returned; however, approximately 23,500 of the 1.5 million customers that lost power, just in the Western North Carolina area still lack electricity as of today, according to Poweroutage.us. Additionally, there are still about 365,000 Floridians without power.
The power restoration in the dense mountain forests of WNC is slow going, some roads and bridges are completely washed away. According to the Associated Press report, “The crews aren’t doing what they typically do, which is a repair effort. They’re rebuilding from the ground up,” said Kristie Aldridge, vice president of communications at North Carolina Electric Cooperatives {link}.
There are widespread rumors and disparate reports of the overall death toll, at last count was well over 200. Anecdotal reports from people in the WNC region put the death toll much higher but are difficult to confirm. We do not want to spread rumors, yet we simultaneously accept this close to the election there is an unfortunate incentive for both federal and state emergency management officials to keep the death toll numbers hidden.
The bottom line is a concern for everyone in the impact areas. Therefore, ground reports are the most valuable. How are y’all doing?
Dear God of grace and strength, in the midst of uncertainty, fear and change we turn to You for stability and strength. Please grant us the wisdom and fortitude to navigate the unknown, the courage to face challenges, and the faith to trust Your divine plan.
Heavenly Father, let Your unwavering presence be our anchor in the aftermath of these storms. Grant us the resilience to face the challenges of recovery with grace and hearts filled with purpose. May we continue to find, patience, stability and fellowship in Your eternal love.
Thank You for guiding us through these uncertain times. In Jesus blessed and loving name we pray. ~ Amen.

That is an uplifting video. Thanks for posting.
It’s time for a new season.
“God is giving you instruction.”
This is spot on.
There are billions available – most of which is going overseas or being poured into the pockets of green new deal thieves and in both cases a percentage into Dim politicians’ pockets…
They (current fed and state administrations) didn’t and still don’t want to help…
Just in case anyone was wondering…
Here is a visual representation of the National Guard troop deployments for Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Helene in #WNC.
The U.S. military deployed over 16x the number of troops to Hurricane Katrina than it did to Western North Carolina.
Political, religious, and racist discrimination.
Harrison, et al., I’m still here but new comment is “Awaiting for approval” so not sure what’s happening.
This Troop Deployments graph tells a very sad and shocking part of this hurricane story.
This morning I talked to a person in WNC on the ground who is delivering requested Christmas gifts to survivors. He told me of some of the requests/items: 1) new front door for a home, 2) Carhartt coat and 20 lbs beef jerky, 3) one person wanted only fruitcake(s), 4) generator, ext cord, gas can and gas . . . The list goes on and on and is a testimonial to the hardships as well as the resilience of the people.
Why should “support for hurricane victims” be part of a CR negotiation? Should be AUTOMATIC.

FEMA is now threatening TN residents with, “stop-work orders, fines, and penalties” for rebuilding their homes after Helene.
FEMA is demanding residents obtain a special “floodplain development permit” before fixing their homes, if they live in a “flood zone”.

The fact that this administration and MSM has not even mentioned the graves of our Vets being washed out from Helene makes me sick! Somebody needs to do something about this ASAP.
One of the things not thought about 🙁
Residents of Butler TN have been clearing garbage out of their lake by hand after being “ghosted by the government” for 3 months.
A group of men have now raised $20,000 and are using excavators on floating barges to get the work done themselves.
No, no – you can’t stay in a tiny home, only tents are allowed…
Wait – what about that “relief” bill?
The hurricane relief package:
$3 million to test molasses
$7.5 million for agricultural oversight (paying themselves)
$828 million energy conservation
$356.5 million to plant trees (definitely couldn’t wait til March)
$1.5 billion economic development – no less than $7million goes to administration (kickbacks)

Christmas Eve concert:
More testimony coming out of Western North Carolina, this gentleman says in one area he was at the water level was 47 FEET HIGH.
He says “we have been forgotten about by the federal government. […] Me and my fellow citizens have been paying our taxes for years – the people need a mobilization like this country has never seen before.”
Looks like one of the major interstates may not be repaired for quite some time…
The only reason FeMa is allowing tents is because they can’t find any rule, regulation, or law that they can use to prohibit them. If they could, you can bet they would. They are intent upon driving as many people as possible away.
Every day I say that I cannot hate the government more than I do. But then I give myself a pep talk and tell myself, “Yes, you can! You can do it!” And then I DO!!!
Another family helped. God Bless the American people.
Update from NC
A couple and their 2 boys who lost their home to Helene were given an RV by a private couple from Pennsylvania
The amount of public generosity in the face of a total evil government that refuses to help is overwhelming.
WNC, Asheville area. For Christmas, my household adopted five kids in one family. Yesterday, I received a video of the gifts being delivered.
The house was on a corner lot in town. There was a stoplight at the intersection. Quite a bit of traffic. There was a lot of trash at the curb and the delivery person said that trash was everywhere along the sidewalks. He said that FEMA was supposed to pick it up. The recipient family was in the process of moving, yet again. Initially after Helene, they were in a camper. I’m not clear on how it happened, but they were unable to remain in the camper. Someone paid the rent for them to be in this house, but there is no usable municipal water. They are flushing toilets with water collected in a kiddie pool in the yard (which has a downed tree across it). Conditions are bad, so they are moving once again. I don’t have details. Only the video.
This family is NOT in the mountains in an inaccessible area. This family is in TOWN in a fairly busy traffic area. This is shocking to me that our own citizens are living like this in a somewhat urban area.
January 20th cannot come soon enough! I pray that immediate help will be sent to Helene victims, that relief will be swift and will bypass the layers of bureaucracy.
Prayers up!
Thousands of Children Displaced from Hurricane Helene in Asheville Wake Up to Christmas Presents Outside Their Homes, Motel Rooms and RVs
Why are American citizens still displaced three months after a hurricane while the Biden Regime gives billions of dollars to Ukraine and Ecuadorian Amazon forest conservation?

Christmas Day miracle just happened in Boone, NC. The Penley family lost their home to Hurricane Helene. Mom was discharged from the hospital today after the birth of their precious daughter Gracie. The family had planned to move into a homeless shelter. Thanks to @EmergencyRv donors and supporters they were gifted an @EmergencyRv instead.

Western North Carolina single father, Ricky Ward, who lost his home during Hurricane Helene and has spent time volunteering to help with disaster recovery by helping fix bridges and remove debris, has been gifted a tiny home by organization ‘Wine to Water.’
He says “I just have to take everything one day at a time – and keep waiting on God’s blessings.”
I really like seeing positive news for WNC. And I also love that someone who was helping with recovery efforts gets his own blessing as well.
Where would we be without all of the private organizations and individuals that have helped people?
