UPDATE: We will continue bumping this thread to keep the communication lines available.
...”I live in the Western part of the US; reading these comments is like listening in on a (telephone) party line. This is the first I’ve heard firsthand live reports from the people directly affected. For the first time there is no canned, approved spoon fed mis-information delivered by the faceless and unaffected paid to be there.”….
Which is exactly the reason we keep this thread going!
As the areas in Eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina and the Western gulf coast of Florida continue recovery operations from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our thoughts are with those who are still impacted and dealing with the long-term recovery process.
If you have stability and the ability to communicate, we are wondering how you guys are doing.

Working with several ground groups, we have sent toolboxes and resources into the area for the arduous tasks that remain. There are many who feel overwhelmed; just know our thoughts and deepest prayers remain with you. It will get a little better every day.
Resourceful teams (mostly electrical restoration experts) who learned quickly after they helped the Puerto Rico Mountain areas in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria are doing amazing work reaching some of the more isolated areas. These are good friends with a git-r-done approach.
Eastern Tennessee power has mostly returned; however, approximately 23,500 of the 1.5 million customers that lost power, just in the Western North Carolina area still lack electricity as of today, according to Poweroutage.us. Additionally, there are still about 365,000 Floridians without power.
The power restoration in the dense mountain forests of WNC is slow going, some roads and bridges are completely washed away. According to the Associated Press report, “The crews aren’t doing what they typically do, which is a repair effort. They’re rebuilding from the ground up,” said Kristie Aldridge, vice president of communications at North Carolina Electric Cooperatives {link}.
There are widespread rumors and disparate reports of the overall death toll, at last count was well over 200. Anecdotal reports from people in the WNC region put the death toll much higher but are difficult to confirm. We do not want to spread rumors, yet we simultaneously accept this close to the election there is an unfortunate incentive for both federal and state emergency management officials to keep the death toll numbers hidden.
The bottom line is a concern for everyone in the impact areas. Therefore, ground reports are the most valuable. How are y’all doing?
Dear God of grace and strength, in the midst of uncertainty, fear and change we turn to You for stability and strength. Please grant us the wisdom and fortitude to navigate the unknown, the courage to face challenges, and the faith to trust Your divine plan.
Heavenly Father, let Your unwavering presence be our anchor in the aftermath of these storms. Grant us the resilience to face the challenges of recovery with grace and hearts filled with purpose. May we continue to find, patience, stability and fellowship in Your eternal love.
Thank You for guiding us through these uncertain times. In Jesus blessed and loving name we pray. ~ Amen.

Each individual story is inspiring when you listen to what they’ve overcome
Timothy sacrificed so much—long before Hurricane Helene ever happened. It’s a powerful reminder that no veteran should ever feel forgotten, and we must honor what they’ve given
Survivors of Helene each have something to share, yet so often, they feel overlooked
That’s why the work @EmergencyRv does is so incredible—not just providing shelter, but offering time, comfort, and the reminder that their stories matter.
Timothy McCord is 70 yo @USMC United States Marine Corps. Veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War. He lost the roof of his camper during Hurricane Helene and has been sleeping in a leaky camper ever since.
We gifted him an @EmergencyRv this evening in Canton, NC and we can’t think of a better way to spend Christmas Day. God bless our Veterans and Merry Christmas to you sir. This is the 77th @EmergencyRv delivered to Helene survivors.
The full truth about Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee will come out soon. People should hang their heads in shame. The lack of response is absolutely disgusting!!!
A father of 2 children in Lee County is speaking out after FEMA called threatening to take his temporary home 3 days before Christmas…
…and then never showed up
He missed 2 days of work waiting for FEMA and now is sleeping on a couch, still waiting.
Talk about growing up quick. A little girl, hand in hand with her dad, stepping up to help rebuild their community after Hurricane Helene
As a girl dad, I can only imagine the immense pride and love he feels watching her rise to the occasion with such strength and heart
These moments… of resilience, compassion, and unity are what will forever define this chapter for so many in WNC
Days turn to weeks, weeks to months, and the work continues, but these bonds grow even stronger
For this incredible father-daughter duo, I hope this journey becomes a lasting memory of how even in the face of devastation, hope and love can shine through.
A father and his 8 year old daughter have been digging #WNC residents out of their homes with excavators for 3 months, free of charge.
His daughter went on live TV to say:
“I’ve been learning it’s best to help people and put other people first before yourself.”
This is actually happening to the children of Helene.
Disaster Hit North Carolina. The Working Class Got Stuck With the Bill.
I wonder if this is true????
Yes, it is 🙂
Thank you for confirming. There is hope.
There is always hope CC.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Romans 15:13
Saving this scripture. Thank you.
Another broken FEMA promise…
They did it at Thanksgiving, now they did it again at Christmas.
I cannot believe it.
FEMA has officially confirmed that out of the 26 families that were told they would receive a temporary home before Christmas…
…only 3 families received one
You read that right. THREE.
I have received documentation from Josh (the father of 2 in this video), that FEMA clearly states he can keep his temporary home until March 29, 2025.
I also have documentation that a FEMA representative attempted to kick him out of that home on December 23, 2024…
Areas of the Appalachians received significant rain from the storms that pushed through the Southeast over the weekend.
This is the bridges that the locals and Roadrunner Bridges put on Poga Road in Elk Mills and Bob’s Island are of Butler TN. Roadrunner donated and delivered and built on site the improved bridges and installed with the help of locals community. The video is from the lake cleanup myself and Ben Knutson have been working on for last month. We are over 3 months out from the storm. TVA and TEMA and FEMA have done nothing to assist us yet. We do have a GoFundMe if interested in assisting us.
Have a great New Year’s and keep praying for the people affected in East TN and Western NC mountains around the rivers which were catastrophic.
They believe in doing what is right – not what the government thinks is right.
I tell you what, every single time I hear something new about the Amish my respect and admiration for them grows.
This was taken on Route 421 leaving Boone.
The Amish are cranking out tiny houses for the Hurricane Helene victims like worker bees even though the government and FEMA told them no!
This, this is the real spirit of America right here!
Samaritan’s Purse releases a Documentary on Helene
It is DEVASTATING and STUNNING
Franklin Graham’s message:
“When you die, the only thing you can take is your soul”
Government is ignoring that Helene was the most catastrophic natural disaster of our lifetime.
Outstanding documentary…many have seen the aftermath, but to actually see video of the rushing water takes your breath away. If you weren’t there, you have NO CLUE.
Lowes has put out a video showing some of the work they’ve done in the Helene ravaged areas.
Unfortunately, beyond the thunderstorms and rain this weekend there comes a large freezing snap that some places I’ve looked into it are saying it may be one for the record books…
Here are some broad outlines that are known this far out, however. Computer models have been signaling for days that the South, including areas from Texas to Alabama, as well as Southeast and Appalachians may see the brunt of the coldest air.
( they apparently don’t know what areas make up the “southeast” :p )
Modeling and NOAA projections show that if the cold were to reach its full potential, temperatures may plunge to 25°F to 35°F degrees below average for this time of year during mid-January.

NEW: About 60 Amish community members from central Pennsylvania build 12 tiny homes in Boone, North Carolina in just two days.
The men had to head back home but are coming back in January to build more.
Not only did they donate their time, but they also donated about $300,000 to complete the project according to High County Press.
Local man Luc Henry says he was inspired by the Amish and will be finishing up the homes to help Hurricane Helene victims.
“I was talking to Aaron, the name of the Amish gentleman leading the crew, and Aaron explained to me they are here building temporary housing units for people displaced by Helene,” Henry said.
“They erected everything from the outside in, framed out the walls, framed out the roof, ran the electric.”
Snow and ice forecast for the Appalachian areas ravaged by Helene (as well as a wide swatch across the line).
Absolutely BRUTAL update on Marshall, NC…
This ripped my soul..if you know Marshall, this will crush you
It’s been months and this little town still looks dead and IGNORED
NC politicians deserve jail time
Tiktoker and local MamaDragone gives us a tour.
They are burying the death count, just like many of the bodies are still buried. Multiple areas called for hundreds of body bags, one over a thousand – yet the official count is barely over 100.
Meet the “Ground Pounders”. These are volunteers searching for bodies by going inch by inch
America is the most powerful country in the world and our deceased have been left to rot
Democrats DON’T want a body count .
The story of one family’s struggle to survive and get any help.
Watch as April got out seconds before mudslides/rushing water took her home
Now April is stuck paying a mortgage on a house that’s gone
Denied by FEMA 8 times, April explains how FEMA is systematically hurting victims, this is SICK
Oliver has done a ton of work for the common man, including working for and raising money for those afflicted by Helene. Here is how the man spent his New Year’s Eve – a musical treat for ya’ll.
Oliver Anthony does ‘old school’ Appalachian activism for New Years Eve.
NYE Oliver gave a free concert in a WV COAL MINE for COAL MINERS, he’s a baddass PROUD American
This reminds me of when in the 1890’s, Union 1st went into in Paint Creek and Cabin Creek, West Virginia.
This is in the state that did the most for their effected Appalachian areas.
A new after-action report by the TN National Guard during Hurricane Helene has revealed horrifying stories during the first weeks of the storm.
a) Soldiers got on ground and did not have a clear mission set or means of execution.
b) Soldiers received equipment that was either not usable or needed, or did not have proper operators.
c) Showers and laundry took several days to arrive and as a result, a dangerous bacteria was discovered.
d) Some soldiers did not receive pay for their work during the deployment until halfway through or later in the mission.
e) Members of the community stepped into to help provide the Tennessee National Guard with essentials such as food.
f) Medical personnel were stretched thin, putting in long hours to cover the eight counties and 2,000+ square miles impacted in the region with use of only “two vehicles.”
When I arrived at the Ashville airport I was on the ground as National Gaurd arrived. They were looking for fema or anyone to tell them where the food need to go. I get it they don’t have trucks. I told them just sit it out side the gate and we will get it out to people. Good on them for not worrying about the system and just getting it done
Update on the weather – looks like a week from today is the big one for the Appalachians. I hope for no snow myself – still far too many people exposed.
NOW MODELING BEGINS TO ZERO IN ON THE 10th-11th
WHAT YOU ARE READING BELOW IS AN INTERPRETATION OF WHAT I AM SEEING FOR NEXT WEEKEND. IT IS NOT A CALL FOR SNOW AT THIS TIME. I DON’T FORECAST SNOW FOR THIS AREA OUTSIDE OF 5 DAYS.
Rarely, if ever, will you see me post operational runs outside of 8 days. I violated my own rule on December 29th in regards to snow chances in the Jan. 6th-8th period. Admittedly, the pattern got the best of me. Now, I wasn’t a complete imbecile about it and certainly didn’t make any type of call (unlike some of these ridiculous posts out there on FB, YouTube, and TikTok), but I indeed had plenty of bias. The rules are there for me to protect the integrity of the page from my natural bias toward snow.
But now the operational runs seem to be honing in on an idea of a winter storm for Friday and Saturday. And we are inside of 8 days, so I’m not violating any of the aforementioned rules. Therefore, below are pics of the operational runs.
IMPORTANT: Based on my interpretation of all the models that you do NOT see here, I believe it’s important to know that as we watch this in the coming days, it’s important that this happens earlier in the weekend rather than later in the weekend. There is going to be a strong low over Baja. Ideally, that would come out and across the country, midweek. If it does not, it doesn’t mean that we can’t get snow, it just means that the chances are greatly reduced.
VERY IMPORTANT: You’ve learned from me how important that ensemble support is in regard to winter weather. I’ve attached the three ensembles and their 24 hour snowfall outcomes for ONLY 01/10 and 01/11. So, what are we looking at in those pictures?
Out of the 50 Euro members, 30 show snow and 8 show 1” or more
Out of the 30 GFS members, 9 show snow and 4 show 1” or more
Out of the 20 Canadian members, 8 show snow and 4 show 1” or more
Therefore, we have a total of 47 that show snow and 16 that show one inch or more. Other place this morning
And you may ask, why am I showing you the Canadian? It doesn’t show anything. It’s because the Canadian typically runs colder than other models and it definitely shows a system along the Gulf coast. In fact, right now it’s showing ice all the way down to the Gulf. It’s important because the Canadian typically suppresses systems much further south them where an actual storm may be.
So we watch, we wait, and those of us that want snow, hope the trend is our friend.

They will need dozens of propane tanks to keep them warm. There are HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THAT WILL LOSE THEIR FEMA HOTEL VOUCHERS NEXT WEEK AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE!
It is disgusting that wasn’t the first order given by the new governor of North Carolina. Helping the current more immediate need was not his first order. “Building houses and roads” which will take months and years was.
1/3/25 update in WNC by spahettiminiti from TT. Bitter cold and snow hitting WNC while so many are still in tents and campers. But all the government employees in Ukraine are being paid with our billions of tax dollars being sent to them. Keep praying for the victims of Helene
FeMa hotel voucher update. 2 of 3 types of groups will be losing their vouchers as the polar cold hits…
A family living with an elderly woman for 3 months in Marshall NC is about to get this incredible RV from Operation Shelter.
They lost absolutely everything in the flood.
Because of all of YOU, they will sleep in a warm place they can call their own tonight.
One group just delivered their TWO HUNDREDth tiny home for the Helene effected.
Shed Haulers Brotherhood has confirmed the delivery of their 200th tiny home to victims of Helene in #WNC.
Started by just a single Facebook post, over 50 sheds were donated in the first 24 hours and insulated by volunteers.
Every home was given away for free.
Dear moderators – there is a post above this one that is in moderation for an unknown reason (maybe a link I didn’t notice?) Your help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Thank you to Fox Business for having us on air with @TheShawnHendrix tonight to talk about the daily struggles of locals in #WNC.
As Shawn says in this interview:
“If the rules are hurting people, change the rules!”
Extreme cold is coming and they’re running out of propane :/
Man from Conway, SW and his crew work to save a family’s home.
Pops, who is zzpops843 on Tik Tok, is from Conway, SC and his crew from other parts of the nation, are in WNC donating their time and sweat to help save this older couples house and land. Pops narrates this video, please listen to the end.
Dutch Grown, a floral company in the Netherlands, has donated over 10,000 flower bulbs to transform a park in Swannanoa NC.
The company said,
“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. That belief is our gift to Swannanoa and everyone in Western North Carolina.”
Americans helping Americans. This victim of Helene expresses her gratitude for a camper donated by a couple through Asheville Dream Center. h
Praise God. There are so many Angels and Heroes walking among us.
Tim is a special breed of volunteer – He left his home to indefinitely dedicate himself to the relief mission in WNC
Go and support him by following his page, he will be posting video updates as the mission goes on
The biggest thing needed right now is more volunteers..
3 months – still no water, no power in many parts of WNC.
It isn’t just the Appalachians that FeMa is committing despicable acts…
Another amazing story. Outside of Fairview, NC in WNC, 13 families were cut off from access to the main road when Helene destroyed the only road to their homes. They tried to find help for over 3 months with no success, until a Chistmas Party connected them with the Patterson’s and Extraordinary Purpose, who donated their time, sweat, and hard work. They rebuilt the access road from January 1st – 5th, from sun up to sun down. God does provide
1/06/25 update from Jason Ward of Valley Strong Disaster Relief. Silverados Relief Center in Black Mountain, NC almost couldn’t open yesterday due to the lack of volunteers because of the weather, but then an amazing thing happened…
Brutal Update on Hot Springs, NC
Hot Springs residents rely HEAVILY on tourism for employment…
With so much devastation and no clean up aid, the 100 acre Hot Springs Resort and Spa is closed, maybe indefinitely
This leaves a whopping 40% of the town unemployed
Incredible Update on Helene
Billy, a Purple Heart Marine Vet from Iraq lost his home in Helene, he’s asked for NO help but works daily to help those hit in Swannanoa, NC
Jason Ward teamed up with Bill at St. Pierre Woodworking & Sawmill who just gave a camper to Billy
One example of the difference between neighboring states – one run by Dims, one by Gop…as a follow up to this, Stein denied the request. :/
Urgent- Governor Josh Stein MUST follow Tennessee and reprieve Helene victims from property taxes…
Fairly sure I posted the video back when it happened, but it’s a great reminder of what Americans did for their own.
The US National Weather Service Raleigh, NC posted this information just a short time ago. There will be additional and updated information this afternoon and through the rest of the week.
It is still very early for this information, however it is very important to be prepared before it gets here. Here is the snowfall and freezing rain (ice) accumulation total forecast map, ending Saturday morning:
With the frigid Temps and the forecasted winter storm coming this Friday, please pray for all the displaced people living in tents and campers in WNC and Eastern TN.
The mainstream media is non-stop coverage of Hollywood and wildfires. Just like they did for Helene victims! /s
Those stories on the EmergencyRV thread . . . No words. Except “Angels” . . .
Here’s the number for Avery County if you don’t have heat
Earlier today – shows some of the efforts of the people to help prepare for the incoming front.
Just in time for the sub-freezing temps! Truckloads of winterizing insulation board for campers arrived in North Carolina. UCN teams will be busy and many more family’s will be that much warmer!
Where possible, there’s work going on to help rebuild as well.
FEMA has confirmed that 3,500 households in #WNC will lose their Transitional Sheltering Assistance, just days before the worst winter storm rolls in.
Videos from the non-profit, Beloved Asheville, show a car line “1 mile-long” for portable heaters and propane.
Freeze in the south, fry in the west.
Good to see you are still here. I’ve been absent on this thread for a few days, but have not forgotten Helene victims. I hope that someday soon all of this documentation will be helpful and will be used to hold people accountable.
GP headline says happening now. I posted link below. Nine days until these evil government officials GTHO of office!
