The FCC is investigating CBS for blatant manipulation of news. [SEE COMPLAINT HERE] CBS really has no defense.
CBS has been caught producing, via editorial manipulation, two entirely different responses to the same question.
Everyone has been asking CBS to just simply release the full transcript. CBS has refused. The assumption is now about the manipulative content of the broadcast being so extreme that to release a transcript would be even worse than what is already known. The FCC complaint is simple and accurate, which is likely why CBS has never attempted to defend itself, until today.

60 Minutes gave an excerpt of our interview to Face the Nation that used a longer section of her answer than that on 60 Minutes. Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response. When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate and on point. It is likely CBS will, eventually, release the full transcript. However, not until after the election. It is remarkable how CBS is willing to destroy any semblance of brand image that may have been left; but that position is merely just a reflection of our 2024 political situation.

ABC wanted to show proof that PDJT’s policies increased attacks on defenseless Syrian civilians. Some very smart individuals here in US pointed out that the video was actually from a US Dept of Defense missile firing proving ground in Kentucky. As an editor for a political consultant, yes, we may “edit” an answer to a question to more clearly state a candidate’s position and to align with the campaign and their agenda. We can take a section of a response to a question, and then ask the same question again, later in the interview-get a differently worded response-and then edit a portion of that answer into the first response to make the point more cohesively. This is a paid advertisement from the campaign (or PAC). It is TO PUSH THE CANDIDATE’S AGENDA. That is what a political advertisement does. It furthers the candidate’s agenda. As an editor for a “non-biased, hard news” outlet, it IS DECEITFUL to string together portions of an interview and present it as an actual occurrence in real time. That is bold-faced deceit. That is NOT what a news organization does, it’s what a paid political ad agency does. Their response to this issue is yet another lie. SHAME ON CBS, AGAIN!

I’m not surprised that CBS is running out the clock on releasing the transcript, till after the election. Most everything is riding on this election, and if the DC Junta manages to steal it again, then the fake news outlets have nothing to worry about, re branding or revenue, since the DNC and their globalist / f@scist donors will continue funding them as useful propaganda outlets, either by funneling them taxpayer money or writing a check.

I’ve read stories about shameful 60 minute manipulative edits that ruined reputations of those who told uncomfortable truths or got in their way of writing a narrative.

In the 1950s and early 60s Alfred E. and I were tight… So much so, my parents and older siblings were considering putting me up for adoption.
All right, we all know the lamestream media lies, edits, downplays, exaggerates, and outright ignores some news. From a constitutional perspective, how does our country get the media back to what the framers envisioned?
Let’s start with editing. They have to be allowed to do that but is it even possible to spell out the limits?
Reporting or not on any given story must also be allowed.
A bias towards conservatism like OAN and Newsmax or liberalism like ABCNNBCBS should also be allowed.
The way I see this is the mechanism for delivery. Magazines are media on internet, social media, and print. Internet conglomerated news sites being popular just don’t have resources to compete with broadcast media. Some like FOX and CNN have their own channels. And way down the list are independent journalists, bloggers, and podcasts who often struggle to be heard. Maybe think of it as limited grocery shelf space that small companies can’t access.
The solution must include a way to even the competitive playing field. I would start with shutting down public financing of public broadcasting. It was good idea when there were limited sources of news but not needed now. I would then require that ownership or use of broadcast time or channel licensing include a requirement that alternative media have a set amount of time or space on an internet site, broadcast, or channel.
In other words, make the big players show the public lots of other choices of news from competitors without being able to control or manage anything the competitor wants to present. Five minutes on the nightly half hour newscasts for example.
Each competitor would have to show they meet a minimum criteria for validity. Any and all media, and the public, would be responsible for setting the standard. Government would only inform and enforce with no input or control of standards.
Make Media Competitive Again.
CBS News and all the other network news shows cater to the solid Democratic Party base, people who joyfully drink the Kool Aid cocktail of pro-Harris propaganda and anti-Trump fake news. That’s their audience, and that’s what CBS News and the other major media outlets play to.
Those who will be voting MAGA know that everything CBS News and the other major media outlets report about the major issues of the day is fake news and/or propaganda.
In contrast, those among the solid Democratic Party base who will be voting Harris-Walz think that either: (a) everything CBS News reports about the major issues of the day is the honest factual truth; or (b) they don’t particularly care what is fact and what is fiction as long as the CBS News always casts Harris in a positive light and Trump in a negative.
In other words, it’s more than just left-wing ideology that is operative here. It’s a business decision to play to a large viewing audience that is highly receptive to the fake news and propaganda which is being continuously served up.
If you take the CBS-Harris transcript and the Biden-Hur transcript that the DOJ still refuses to release and put them both in a blender and then play the result backwards you will get an exact copy of the season 2 episode 3 script from “Joanie Loves Chachi”.
60 Minutes has never been news. Just go back to the “exploding gas tanks”. It’s always been a morality play of “good” vs “evil”, with blatant editing designed to promote the premise.
I highly doubt the FCC does anything to CBS over it. Give it some time and you’ll see CBS, NBC, ABC among others acting together to shift the narrative. We may even see CBS releasing small bits of footage in an effort to obfuscate their actions as harmless. So long as the official transcripts don’t get out they can essentially memory whole the entire situation. I’d wager the FCC privately threatens networks who do not want to carry water for the Harris campaign.

I stopped watching 60 Minutes back in the late 1970s. They did a hit piece on a company which was selling medallions while CBS owned the competitor. Its thesis was “these are fake coins,” but of course did not mention the other company that also sold fake coins.
I remember as a child my parents watching Walter Kronkite. We were told he was the most trusted man in news and he was just a propoganda puppet just like the rest. They tell us what they are told to tell us and hide what we really should be told. I haven’t watched a news program of any kind since election night 2020. I used to watch Faux News occasionally, but when they called Arizona I realized they too had fooled us. The communists have taken over. I don’t know if we can vote our way out of this, but it’s our last chance so get out and vote. MAGA!
Growing up in a Kennedy -democrat household with the Philadelphia Enquirer, Time Magazine, and 60 Minutes every Sunday night, the subliminal messaging and brainwashing took me into my late 20s to recognize.
I haven’t sat to purposely watch 60 minutes for decades and along with NPR, I won’t miss them when they’re gone.
