First, my perspective for new readers. I generally support private sector labor unions. I did not always support them. I do not support public sector unions, nor the leadership of most labor unions in general who politicize their activity. In our modern era, the baseline for organized labor to support the interests of their blue-collar workforce is valid.
Against the backdrop of the larger geopolitical dynamic, I would make the case that, similar to the solidarity movement of the mid 1980’s, organizing the general workforce is going to be the last-resort backstop measure to block ideological western government and corporate intentions.
Populism, nationalism and MAGA specifically, needs a unity alliance with organized private sector labor.
I also believe President Trump sees the looming importance of this relationship as made visible by his support for the Teamsters union during the RNC convention.
Consider what we witnessed and endured with the forced worker vaccination programs of 2021. I do not like the idea of politicized labor but contemplate how organized labor could have been used to pushback against the diminishment of liberty. There is a potential for value; thus, I evaluate organized apolitical labor as a potential pragmatic ally.
That said, let us discuss the looming strike by The International Longshoreman’s Association, which represents 50,000 East and Gulf Coast dockworkers.
There are a lot of economic impacts that can be created by a dockworker strike; they range from inconvenient to severe depending on the industry and sector therein. With the U.S. manufacturing base diminished, imported goods now represent the system to deliver essential products into our nation.
Example: Within the network of essential goods, refined fuel is a critical component. I am not sure how the Port of Tampa and Port of Everglades would be impacted, but most fuel deliveries into Florida come from these two ports. I would consider fuel a vital and essential product. Stop the offloading of fuel and things can get sketchy quickly for the Florida economy.
On a global scale, stopping the export of USA generated Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) could be a potential problem for Europe. The EU is now dependent on non-Russian energy stores, the USA exports are a component of those needs. The U.S. Maritime Alliance, or USMX, an organization bargaining on behalf of the dockworkers’ employers, claims that only 25,000 workers will be impacted by the likely work stoppage. I don’t think we quite know which sectors would be most affected.
On the agricultural side, deliveries of perishable imports like bananas would likely lead to almost immediate price increases if those products were stopped. However, the USA produced farm products would likely drop in price if exports stopped and could potentially offset any increase in import price for agriculture goods at retail. Again, bottom line – no one is sure the impact.
♦ One angle is predictable. If there are shortages of goods that create problems for those in politics, hurricane Helene will likely be used as an excuse for supply chain disruption. It will be difficult to gauge the accuracy of any deflective claim. The ability to deflect this scenario, it’s not the ports – it’s the bridges and roads, can be exploited by the Biden administration.
The Wall Street corporations have a narrative to push, represented by ABC News:
[…] A strike lasting a matter of months could cause a shortage of raw materials that brings some manufacturing activity to a halt, leading to layoffs at affected plants as well as in related industries such as shipping and logistics, some experts said.
“If there aren’t shipments to pick up, it would have a boomerang effect across the whole nation,” Bill Stankiewicz, owner of Georgia-based logistics consulting company Savannah Supply Chain, told ABC News.
At the heart of a potential disruption, shortages of parts would prevent manufacturers from assembling and shipping out final products, Miller said. The auto sector would be heavily impacted but the slowdown would affect “all types of industries,” he added.
“If you start having a very extended strike you’ll be looking at temporary layoffs because plants can’t get their parts,” Miller said.
Kamins echoed concern about manufacturing workers. Still, such an outcome would only result from a prolonged strike, he said.
In 2002, a strike among workers at West Coast ports lasted 11-days before then-President George W. Bush invoked the Taft-Hartley Act and ended the standoff. However, the last time East and Gulf Coast workers went on strike, in 1977, the work stoppage lasted seven weeks.
“Conceivably, some manufacturing workers could be affected,” Kamins said. “That would be many months down the road. I’d be surprised if it gets to that point.” (LINK)
In the bigger picture, while we are unsure of the specific and/or granular impacts, I am cautiously optimistic the outcomes of a general labor strike by the longshoremen can be of benefit in solidifying the strategic value of an organized workforce.
There may be a time in the not-too-distant future when Americans as a whole need to repeat the approach of the Solidarity movement in order to defeat the enterprise of weaponized government intent on oppression.
All other attempts to raise valid grievances, stop insane policies, and demand a voice at the table have seemingly failed. President Trump represents our last effort for reasonable cohesion.
Last point, an awakened American public know President Donald J Trump could stop this labor conflict. WATCH:

The uniparty has sold out the American worker for cheap illegals here and slave labor abroad. When corporations are happily exploiting illegals to underpay them and to avoid hiring American citizens bc they have to pay them more, there is a legitimate need for unions.
Wonder if they are planning on using some of the invaders to replace the dockworkers?
Of course that is the plan, but these new workers have no idea about how to do these jobs.the slow down will still happen.
I can hire 8 year olds to mow the lawn if the 13 year old kids strike…. But someone’s foot is going under ….I’ll pay more when i get sued…and have to pay for the peg leg. Argghhh
I have been cutting grass commercially for 37 years. I am 45. I can’t get enough of it, apparently. Still have all my appendages.
What if China has been training them, sent them in over the borders, and they are being teed up as we write to replace the USA workers and then China owns what is left of our port and shipping.
They already have illegals living in airports. They will soon be flying the planes like last time and running air control.
They have vast acreage next to all our U.S. military bases and have taken over what Delusional Joe and Queen Kamala gave away in Afghanistan.
Illegals are replacing us n the military and in law enforcement when they have never pledged to our Constitution. Not that the DIMs would follow the law anyway…
This is really a no brainer.
I don’t know, but what I do know is, if they do, then labor violence is a likely result. It won’t be pretty.
Legally, I don’t think they can…without major wrangling…the docks are tied into DHS…they got’s to have a dock worker’s card and huge security clearance from what i understand…the TSA admits some immigrants may qualify for the magical TWIC card…

Unfortunately the unions went off the rails a long time ago and don’t represent the workers but the politicians. And besides workers just take advantage of a union. I’m going on strike if you don’t give me a million dollar raise stompy feet.
Certain grievances result in lawsuits every few years but problems never get fixed. Word is that the profits generated give a kickback to select managers. I personally haven’t seen proof but the union local elect enforce the perception with displays of wealth that rank and file employees can only dream of especially since they themselves are rank and file workers who must return to the floor when voted out of office.
There is a legitimate need for tariffs. We need to eliminate the income tax – not just on tips and overtime. Do you think a small business owner or a farmer gets time and half because they put in a long day?
If you bought your home in 1980 and simply maintained it with no real improvements, and you decide to downsize, should you have to pay tax on the increase in the retail price of your house? Has not the purchasing power of the dollar been diminished? And- Is it not the same house you already paid for with after-tax earnings? The earnings tax is antithetical to our right to pursue happiness and our right to own property
The strike is set to start Oct. 1st-Surprise, surprise. Bring back the misery index in time for November. Bring back manufacturing- re-shore the workforce.
Direct result of bidenflation.
Being forced to join a union is marxism. I had to when I worked for UAW (who never did anything for me when there were issues) and the teachers union. In voting for new UAW contracts, they tell you if you support the UAW president then vote to stike. No reason given just vote for strike. If you do the job you were hired for the brain dead union employees would call you a company man. They did this many times to an east German immigrant (and myself) who properly did his job. Unions push lazy ass bad workers. When I had a choice to join a union or not (which was only at 1 school) I said no way. My son had to join a union years ago working for a company that delivered frozen foods (he was a loader.) Not sure why he was fired, but the union didn’t do shit. They knew that the worker who was going to be hired to take his place HAD to join the union. So the marxist union still glot their union dues no matter what.
Never known a Union to actually help a Union member in time of need.
Union theme song:

Watchin’ the tide roll away…
Sittin’ on the dock of the bay

In Boston, the plumbers (103) the electricians (106) and verizon (2222) all did nothing for their workers regarding the injection mandates. They encouraged compliance and discouraged members from filing greivances which are required prerequisites for any lawsuits. I did not have projects involving any other unions during this timeframe.

My dad was an MEBA member….they were pretty good to him.
When he died, the ladies in the benefits office bent over backwards to help me get things done.
May your Beloved Dad rest in eternal peace.
Awww…thank you!
Aggiegirl, Made me smile To see my union get a shout out here on CTH. I am a retired MEBA member and they have been pretty good to me over the years also.
Glad to hear that the benefits Plan ladies Helped you out when your Dad passed.
Its a small world and am glad I gave you a smile….my son, during his USMC time ran into an MEBA member over in Guam…in conversation, it turned out the gentleman knew my dad!
Well Db…my dad always said he preferred the MEBA because they were good to him…they were trying to get the Master Mates and Pilots in down in the old Canal Zone…(dad retired from ocean going by then) but he stayed with MEBA…he hung out at the Baltimore office…
I just recently found his old port card and his ID card…I cried when I saw his picture…
Dad did lots of trips on SS United States, so you know that was a long while ago…they offered him a job but he took the one in the Canal Zone so he could be home every night…
God bless and keep America’s maritime families!
My dad was Boilermakers-Blacksmiths. As he was dying and after he died (asbestos) they were the only people on earth to go to bat for my mom and me (I was just a kid) to make sure he got disability, with a small widow’s benefit for my mom. The compamy also wanted to rook her out of the $108 a month survivor’s benefit from his company pension (which would have been $216 a month–about the equivalent of $650 today). But the Boilermakers fought for us.
My dad had been a super skilled worker his entire 40 years with that company. We were in terrible shape as our town was being emptied out of skilled workers/families and jobs mass-offshored. Those were terrible years of struggle, and when I think how much worse off we would have been without the union’s help, it still freezes my marrow.
My dad was opposed to unions his entire life…till he woke up around 1973 and 4, seeing what the Uniparty was doing to Nixon, the people’s choice (and the choice of young people). When he walked the picket lines in ’74–and people were getting shot and killed, or beaten to a pulp, scary time–it was a stunning surprise to everyone.
I have seen them help the absolute worst employees that nobody wanted anything to do with. And the people in transition for sex change hormones and surgery. Also people that everyone avoids.
I was in the UAW and the Grievance man in the union walked around all day and did very little work! I had 3 grievances that all three got bartered away for some @$$ holes that deserved to get fired! Left a bad taste in my mouth about unions! I see it today as nothing more than a power grab.
Friend’s DH was a Ford retiree. He is gone but her portion of his retirement and her insurance benefits are gold plated!
In the case of our ports, you may want to reconsider that. Realize 60% of our ports are foreign corporation managed. The union workers provide a first line of defense in terms of port security.
Having worked on the SF and Oakland waterfronts for 20 plus years, I can strongly advise not to count on longshoremen for port security.
Some things never change…they had a sketchy reputation 50 years ago…
emet…you probably knew a dear friend of mine from high school and college…was a VEEP for Matson…friend is in heaven now….

LESS than worthless asses!
A clear majority of these Union workers the backbone of Heritage America are of us. That means a majority, likely a large one are PDJT MAGA supporters. They saw the loss of millions of union & non-Union jobs through the economic treasons of “Free Trade” and PDJT has made his opposition & correction of that treason a major plank of his MAGA agenda.
Look who is protesting the Council On Foreign Relations Bush & Clinton NAFTA treason……………………….

WOW I like that sign. Never saw recognition of that truth but I definitely saw real life proof
There was a movement of heritage American Democrats in the 1990s called “nix NAFTA.” Can’t find anything online about it, everything’s been scrubbed. I still have my button from one of the rallies–from a lefty university town that still, at that time, supported WORKING FAMILIES.
Dems have gone off the rails so bad, it’s hard to believe they were ever on it. GOP hasn’t been much better, all these years.
Honestly, what the hell does Gina Raimondo do other than threaten MAGA supporters!?!?!? She is a LOT like Mayor Butt – political hack.
As much of a hack as was America & PDJT hater Uniparty limousine liberal Rino Christy Whitman was who as EPA chief without any environmental science credentials was given that spot by Neocon Bush and after the 9/11 treason said it was ok for emergency workers and volunteers assisting in NYC rescue, recover, and clean up ops that they did not have to wear any respiratory protections resulting in thousands of deaths and even numerous illnesses being passed onto multi generations, and she never showed any shred of compassion or guilt even to this day. Never even tried to rectify the horrific damage, suffering and deaths she caused. These “elites” are not like us at all
When we hire people for their gender/color/grift connections… we always pay a consequence.
And frankly, whenever a gummint worker screws up, they don’t get fired, just moved into some other slot where their incompetence eventually hurts us again.
I hope 100,000 federal workers get pink slips. There is real work to be done and they can see how it really is. They might have to leave wash dc. Good.
THANK YOUY and BLESS YOU for remembering the deaths that sow caused.
I had a very good friend and colleague who died because of that. He was doing contract work in Manhattan on 9/11 and stayed on for weeks as a translator/interpreter and general helper guy. When I expressed concern about the air, he was confident it was OK because Whitman said so.
WIthin a year his health went into a downspiral and he was dead some years later. He was 52 iirc.
I was in emergency hazardous materials response at that time with Environmental Science degree, I was way more qualified than Limousine Liberal half-wit and knew that what she was saying was wrong and was going to get allot of people dead & ill. I’ve followed her career, and she has never shed a single tear of remorse for what she did and never even attempted to remedy her stupidity. And she still is occasionally trotted out to throw jabs at PDJT as she lived in a very affluent town near Bedminster and fraudulently used the farm tax to get over paying NJ’s outrageous property tax ripoff. She is despised. Ty for your posts I had people I knew die at the 9/11 treason.

Shipping is a business governed by state, local, federal and international rules….
Business is in business to make money. Business rues paying profits on the balance sheet…to wages.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/YzOyosD0PKs
Yup…..
The shipping industry make Big Money.
But they still need the longshoremen to
unload those ships😊
Those longshoremen still hate the invention of the container which made “shrinkage” more difficult.
Oh they do…dad had dreams of me going to Kings Point….haha not with my grades…math was my killer…but my old HS friend…he did very well…had a condo in Maui…long ago, liked in Oakland…his two kids went to KP…doing very well economically…they do the ship board stuff…
The longshoremen are the ‘middlemen’ and they know it…they stand between the ship and ships crew…and the truckers who pick up the containers…
But business will pay unlimited sums towards political corruption
And shipping is the most cutthroat business on the planet. Always has been.
Pray unceasingly, God is with us 🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼

That’s funny
And … what do you have against dirt?
A healthy dose of excrement is good for the soil🤣
Her face would “make a train take a dirt road”.
I wonder how much a lengthy strike will adversely affect rebuilding in the hurricane hit areas. I wonder how much the strikers care.
The Mafia and Hollywood hurt the longshoremen union with the public but most are just America First type guys who want to raise their families.
Any America First type guys/gals, by definition, cannot put loyalty to union first.
Toss union leadership into the drink like a load of tea and do your job.
Trust God. Fear not.
Most are criminals! In fact, there are several union jobs you can’t get unless you have felony convictions in certain cities like the Operating Engineers and longshoremen.
The ones here who sit up in the cranes moving containers have a pretty cushy life. Hard to feel sorry for them. Meanwhile UNITE HERE has been on strike against the big hotels here (but still, I would take UNITE HERE any day before letting the SEIU in). Also after striking and coming back management locked out the nurses at a hospital. The nurses want the right to control staffing.
The timing is suspect. Especially after the immense damage from Helene. Maybe it was already in the works. Union leaders are dyed in the wool Dems. Maybe the blob thinks it will help Kamala. The strike should have been called off.
It was in the works before Helene…

If you were lucky enough to get in, it was a very lucrative job. I knew some when I lived up in NJ. Especially after the Free Trade treason outsourced and destroyed much of our home grown manufacturing, the former USA made products have to come in via the ports and thus the Longshoreman. This is huge. How much Petroleum Reserves is left for the coming planned IC chaos, and how full are the warehouses with food & all the other non-American made products that made us dependent on foreign sources which has to be shipped in? Plans within plans as they said in Dune. Cheers 4Gyp

I agree. Long run (not saying it’s right or wrong, but rather just a thought), if he comes out and says in light of the need for critical supplies to support the immediate recovery needs we will postpone our strike by 30-days.
What’s in 30 days? Nov 1, all the stuff he’s talking about pushes up against the Christmas shopping season and Black Friday – more leverage while buying support. Do you think all the areas affected are going to support his position when it’s adversely affecting them during a crisis?
“I’ll cripple ya. Nobody knows what that means.”
Well, Sundance sure does, as do many of us who have avidly read his articles.
Didn’t sound MAGA at all which is to bad. My hope is Trump can get all of Union leaders together and convince them the U.S. is in the tank unless they help us.
Oh, and BTW NAFTA and the evil politicians and others who supported it are the reason we depend on almost everything from abroad, which has put us in the position he described. When they killed manufacturing in the U.S. it was a death blow for our nation to continue on as a free independent country.
This strike impacts 36 ports handle $billions-51+% container imports ranging from cars/auto parts to ag commodities to consumer goods and So Amer fruits/veg. The long shoremen’s last contract 2018 negotiated only $1/hr increase on this contract they’re asking for $5/hr and overtime. Before you jump on how much they’re asking understand the illegals have taken many of their jobs for pennies on the dollar. The illegals presence is considered risk for port security. By themselves, they’re just cheap labor. Dangle $10,000 and they’ll participate in electronic/cyber resulting in what we saw when the barge hit the bridge bringing it down.
The $USD isn’t going to destroy itself. Now that the Middle East has left the Petrodollar agreement, the chickens are coming home to roost. This is all designed to collapse that dollar, so we can reset and jettison the national debt.
Get ready for a sudden change.
I have not very focused on that.
So what has anybody in this regime been focused on? Right, staying in power.
this is october surprise
One of many. Assange will testify, etc. etc.
The WEF and their “Great Reset” of capitalism is merely a step toward their ultimate goal to impose global rule by so-called experts. Such as themselves of course. We certainly need to support the people who work and make this country run. This is a start but we need more of this, and yes it’s going to cause hardship.
What do the strikers want? Seems like just bad timing with all the disasters surrounding them from the hurricane aftermath. People have lost their lives and lost all of their property – struggling to begin to recover. Maybe if they strike they will have time to go inland to help their suffering neighbors and help with recovery from the devastation of the hurricanes.

Biden doesn’t focus on anything. We have no President and haven’t had one since the Democrats stole the election.
Biden could come out and say “Due to Helene I am ordering an 80-day cooling off under Taft-Hartley”. That would make him a hero with at least some folks.
Union workers at ports in the East and Gulf coasts earn a base wage of $39 an hour after six years on the job compared to reports that West Coast union workers, which make $54.85 an hour.
The International Longshoremen’s Association is demanding a 77% pay raise increase over six years and more restrictions and bans on the automation of cranes, gates and container movements used in loading or unloading of cargo.
According to news sources, USMX responded with an offer of 40% in wage increases, but the union rejected it, calling the counter “a joke.”

It used to be the priority of our elected representatives to protect the American worker and fight for him. Our political class has sold us out to the corporate class. We have no representation except Donald Trump and JD Vance. They love the American people and understand who built this country and what makes America great. It’s not our politicians. It’s our people.
Former Democrat Senator from Virginia and the last Blue Dog Democrat Jim Webb said that the Democrat party no longer represents the working men & women of America and is beholden to special interest groups & foreign lobbies. He was also the only Democrat to call illegal Affirmative Action as discriminating against White people and especially the people of Appalachia where he is from. He said it was never meant for immigrants from India,China,Mexico,Saudi Arabia,Pakistan etc. The Democrats on stage with him and the audience were dumbfounded when hit with this truthful revelation. They do not want anyone to think this way or realize that truth.
I have my doubts on how much the Democrat Party really did give a damn about the working people from the get – go.
Thanks for the insight of the potential cost cutting on domestic agriculture. I will keep my eyes open for deals on wheat berries. I checked a few days ago — they have only 17 Union workers listed on their rolls there & the majority appear to be retired. The Corpus Port is a deep water port, not much container shipping – but a Major LNG & Petroleum Products Port. The highest Dollar Port in the USA. No strike there and that likely the case at the other smaller Ports on the Gulf Coast.
IMHO – the Globalists and Uniparty were happy to see the formation of unions in the public sector – that could be utilized to alienate the American people against unionized labor – tearing the fabric of solidarity!
Part of the old game plan, divide and destroy –
Catholics against Protestants in Ireland, another example – isn’t that what the British Empire was doing to undermine the cohesiveness of the Irish people many generations ago – then they basically pillaged the Irish economy, taking back to England the riches of the land, the beef, dairy products, every last thing, leaving them potatoes which finally failed as a crop with the disease that blighted their remaining source of nutrition.
Now the Catholics and the Protestants are uniting in Ireland, AGAINST the government taking in migrants that are overwhelming every resource and place.
Seem to recall a protestant-catholic civil war in England, so not all about suppressing the “Irish people” I should think.
Well, yes it was, if you go back aways. The Catholics are the, “original” Irish. The Brits brought the protestants in, stole their land and food. Now, both sides are figuring out who the original English bad guys are!
I agree, Sundance. Big Corporations have sold out the American worker with their partners in Government.
It’s time to unionized. I was harassed out of my job because I refused to take the covid vaccine. My employer allowed vaccinated employees not wear a mask and if they tested positive for covid they got 10 days PAID time off. If you were UNvaccinated and tested positive for covid you got UNPAID time off.
Union, baby. I never thought that I would say it.
Americans need to fight back against these anti-American corporations.
Since you mentioned covid clot shots…I will use that as my opening…I opted to get my clot shot at a local pharmacy where I exercised my freedom of speech….and chose the jab that I knew to be least problematic…..since I was being forced against my will…The hospital I worked at had loads of Moderna and Phizer…no JNJ….so I asked ‘why’? Money. Politics…I was able to avoid the jab until spring of 22. By then, we were getting info…ya don’t play political money with people’s lives…
I hope they get everything they, the long longshoremen, get everything they want….remember…corporate America would pay slave wages if they knew they could get away with it. And eliminate benefits.
Its a dangerous job and physically demanding.
And…And…they need a valid Port Worker’s ID card…so I doubt any illegals will be getting those jobs if the strike extends….
Exactly!
I am rooting for the hard working Americans .
I personally have never been a fan of Unions….
in this case I support this Union.
My own experience with a union, was awful…but in this case…am rootin’ for the longshoremen…
Have at it. Don’t like your job? Go get another one.
The West coast however has a new contract with its union.
I imagine there will
Be many boats lined up to use their docks
Yes, freight is being diverted to the West coast. And btw all the Xmas stuff arriving by ocean is already here.
That will quickly cause a bottle neck. Retailers and suppliers brought forward their delivery dates at ports to try and get ahead of the Strike
The West Coast Longshoremen will support the East Coast Longshore by small “sand in the gears” here and there.
FYI, the strike hasn’t even begun and my daughter told me yesterday she could not find any bananas in the grocery store. Another point, if this is a prolonged strike and shortages start mounting up fast, expect increased criminal activity, especially by illegals. EBT cards mean nothing if there is nothing to buy. I’m hoping I’m wrong .
Trades and Crafts that mobilize a trained work force to No-Where, USA to construct power plants, treatment facilities, bridges, hospitals correctly the first time, need to be in Unions. Many other unions are rather specious considering insurers demand higher standards than regulatory bare minimums.
My thoughts previously, regarding MAGA, was that, without Trump, there currently is no ‘unifying force’ or leader that would have the same effect on the populist movement that he currently has. But perhaps, as we have seen with truckers in Canada, or farmers in the Netherlands, the grassroots labor unions and their supporters, if unified, would be a force to contend with. We need to think about this movement beyond a Trump presidency
“There may be a time in the not-too-distant future when Americans as a whole need to repeat the approach of the Solidarity movement in order to defeat the enterprise of weaponized government intent on oppression.”
They are going after us one group at a a time. Be ready – soon it’s our ox that will be gored.
The wet dream of the global fascist elite is to kill us off as they replace us all with AI, robots and disposable slave labor.
I’ve a friend whose line of work was being obsoleted near his retirement so he took a job as a Amazon delivery truck driver. He was telling me about all the automation, monitoring and tracking equipment on his truck. He says he sick of the constant surveillance and automated conformance and disciplinary actions from the machines. I won’t go into detail but I listened and told him it did not sound to me like bird-dogging – more like he was training their driverless delivery systems.
For the port workers – here is a peek into their planned demise:
Thanks for sharing..
Informative videos.
It would incredibly easy to eff that up. I’m an electrician and that’s the backbone of automation.
Although Sundance does not support public sector unions, I must point out that the National Border Patrol Council has always stood with President Trump, and Brandon Judd has stood up for the Border Patrol mission.
Government unions are self contradictory on the surface.. Private labor unions were initially set up behind layers of regulatory and legislative protection – supposedly so the government could protect workers from exploitive employment tactics enjoyed by the monopolies of the time.
So now, it makes no sense to pretend that Government it going to protect public-union workers from its own exploitive employment powers.
We live under a fascist form of government where Big-Industry marches to the tune of Blackrock – all while controlling the laws regulations, and the politicians who sign them.
It is us, the taxpayers need who protection from government monopolistic employment schemes which politicians use extract out wealth, feed themselves and to centralize power over the us.
I think it’s funny when Corporations raise prices they are being greedy but when labor strikes they are not being greedy.
Poland delivered a powerful lesson to the communists and took down the government because of the general strike.
A very potent weapon.
“I’m not very focused on that.”
@#$%^&!!!!
“I have not been very focused on that”. What???? She’s the d**n Commerce Secretary!
The same secretary who didn’t know a thing about the 3/4 million jobs revised downward recently!
Oh Lord help us, we’re gonna be crying for more than toilet paper!!!!
Idiots need to be fired not, sucking our tax dollars!!
What a lot of people don’t realize is that the Longshoreman control all the cruise terminals too. This will affect some big pockets . The teamsters will be idle too unless the drive all the way to L.A. and the West coast. If the companies try to hire all those illegals who Biden/Harris let in there will be a huge bloodbath that will be like the West coast ILWU strike years ago. The Panama canal will be jammed and the Mexican ports won’t be able to handle all the back log of ships! As things progress we will see the results of Biden/Harris shutting down oil drilling and domestic oil and gas supplies by draining our oil and gas reserves. Yes all that oil and gas will be sitting off shore! Remember the last West coast Longshorman strike? 300 plus ships sat at anchor offshore of L.A.
Get out the popcorn folks things are going to get interesting as we will be watching the October surprise!
‘On a global scale, stopping the export of USA generated Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) could be a potential problem for Europe.’ – Sundance
Good thinking … but this does not appear to be an issue. LNG terminals such as Freeport LNG in Texas and Sabine Pass in Louisiana do not appear on the map of ports affected by an ILA strike.
Crippled search engines do not produce any pertinent results … but most likely, petrochemical and petroleum industry unions represent the workers at LNG ports. They would not be directly involved in an ILA strike.
Would appreciate any corrections or amplifications if I’m off base.
Nailed it. Private unions OK. Public unions BAD. I’ve always said this. My short answer why — because only one of them is negotiating with our money.
This would affect us…and our economy
on many levels.
Not just what is Imported….but what we Export.
Anyone talking about the potential impact
that will have on American manufacturing
and Agriculture that export products?
Another massive fail of Biden/Harris.
💁 🤷♀️
They don’t understand that the deep state would be thrilled if the docks close. Like they are blowing up the food and other factories right now.
Many comments on here that are less than enthusiastic about private-market labor unions.
I will take everyone posting at their word, and assume good-faith commenting, those reports ring true.
Most of my working life (excepting 9 years out of 44) I have been an independent contractor, paying all my SS and Income Tax quarterly out of my own pocket. Paid my own medical insurance, plan my own retirement funds, etc.
While I also have never benefitted from a Labor Union, it is certain I have never benefitted from a Corporation.
So let’s keep in mind that corporate management is all too often as bad (or worse) as portrayed in the Scott Adams’ comic strip Dilbert.
Hence there is often a need for unity to counter the corporate bosses.
I was a forced member of the AFL/CIO when employed in the fire department. Our union leadership never did a helpful thing. Sell outs and democrat supporters, not because the democrat policies were good, but they thought it would benefit us with a better contract (state employees) <– rarely did that ever pan out.
On the national IAFF scale, I’ll never forget during the impact of the 2008 financial meltdown we took a pay cut and overtime availability cut. When all that was taking place, the IAFF magazine was at the fire station. It happen to be an annual report issue. All of the IAFF VP positions (there was like 8 to 10) and the President all got salary increases <– my dues stayed the same, I got a pay cut, my ability to work overtime to make up for the pay cut was cut, but all these people who go to cocktail parties in DC got a pay increase!!!!!
Buy hey, they helped save the jobs of a lot of people who should’ve been fired.
I’ve never been in a private sector union, personally I don’t see them operating much differently.
I may be wrong, but let’s assume the X video above of the ILA president is true: he’ll crush the economy. All these other people lose jobs and the economy suffers, but they’ll only go back to work for more money, This increases prices – the pay increase won’t be absorbed, but purchasing power goes down.
I get it, everyone wants to get paid more. Go find a different job that pays more <– I bet most of them can’t. They work hard and get the job done, but allow me to offload the containers and I’ll figure it out in a few weeks. They aren’t irreplaceable, there just isn’t an alternative.
I went to an appointment where the husband was a retired UAW worker. He told some stories. He didn’t know his parents were wealthy until later in life. His dad (black family) got him the union job. He was made a ton of money for not doing much, he got set-up for life. After talking to him and hearing his stories (I was in his house for 3 hours), while he was a great guy and very nice it was clear he didn’t spend his working life over producing.
From 2002 to 2019 the IAFF president never had a pay cut:
https://www.unionfacts.com/employee/Fire_Fighters/HAROLD/SCHAITBERGER
2008 to 2009 saw a near $30,000 salary increase while positions across the nation were cut and members had their salaries cut because local, county and state governments were trying to cut costs.
It ALL goes back to turning away from God and His Laws!!!!
I would be shocked learn that the Longshoremen’s Union was not 100% Democrat?
Thousands of Port Workers Poised to Strike at Midnight
Don’t know about the east coast but the ILWU in Hawaii was infiltrated by communists who succeeeded in installing John Burns as gov after statehood, who in turn created the modern HI democrat party which controls the state.
My father was a first level supervisor in a company organized by the UAW. Workers carried copies of the contract in their back pockets and the first thing out of their mouths when told to do something was “not in my job description”. For the union, all that mattered was parity with other companies; they couldn’t care less about the condition of the company. Company ultimately went out of business with the help of the union, which couldn’t be bothered about their members’ jobs.
Gina Raimondo: “…I have not been very focused on that…”
Of course she hasn’t. That goofy wench can’t get focused on anything but her long Pinocchio-style nose. I think it’s longer than it was the last time I saw her interviewed.
